The smog monster stabbed upwards with the spike stabbing it clear through Rodan's wing. The new tail moved quickly looping round, over rodan's back and piercing through the opposite wing.

Rodan screeched in pain, instinctively letting go of its prey but the creature's tail wrapped around him tight acting as an anchor so the creature could still hang on to Rodan. As the Smog Monster dangled, it began to tense and tighten its tails grip.

As the tail constricted, the wing membrane of Rodan's wing began to rip and crumple under the pressure. With great effort the monster pulled its main body up so it was face to face with the giant pterosaur. It turned its body so that it could look rodan in the eye with its cold dead hole of a pupil.

Suddenly the monster tightened the grip of its tail fully in one final burst of energy. Huge gashes were torn through Rodan's wings.

Rodan faltered.

He frantically tried to claw or bite the aberration beneath him, to fling it off but it was out of his reach. The titan tried to continue flying through the great searing pain in his wings but the flapping was ineffective due to the massive holes in the wing membrane.

They both began to fall.

Now face to face plummeting to earth, the firebird clawed and bit at the smog monster still attached to him in a whirling ball of thrashing and blood. As they plummeted plasma formed around them so they looked like a plummeting meteor. The titans scraped and tore and bit and spat in a ball of bloodsoaked limbs until...

!CRASH!

The two titans crashed to earth, ripping a deep laceration in the earth's surface. Trees were torn from the earth, roots still desperately clutching onto diminutive clods of soil. Buildings collapsed from the shockwave crashing down in a cascade of debris.

A cloud of smoke and dust enveloped the crash site, ballooning outwards like a herald of their arrival. Seconds passed as the cloud silently seeped further out. the world was silent. The few survivors of the division tasked with ending the smog monster looked on with utter disbelief. Surely it was dead?

From the thick dust plume protruded a pointed forelimb. It stabbed into the scorched earth and dragged the main body from the depths of the dust. It's skin was blackened with scorch marks and blisters, it's iridescent coating was completely gone the only evidence of it being the occasional shard of it lodged in the creature's flesh.

The Smog monster clawed its way towards the nearby ocean. It's one remaining limb forced to lug the weight of its massive body. The monster clawed its way to the beach, trailing a line of viscose blue blood along the yellow sand.

Once it was in deep enough water, the creature awkwardly swam off using its still fairly flat body to manoeuvre through the water.

As it passed out of sight an angry screech radiated from the cloud once more. With a flap of his mutilated wing, Rodan cleared the dust cloud, revealing a deep crater and a weary titan.

Rodan looked around for the smog monster but wasn't able to see it.

The titan slumped down, the adrenaline slowly draining from his arteries. His back was caked in mud and debris having clearly been the point of impact. His wings had giant holes through them, still steaming from the caustic chemicals that the monster was one with.

Then without a second look around, Rodan slunk off. Limping away from the crash site as the sun finally set below the horizon.
