Here's more!
Shin
"Ugh. I don't have time for this," Shin grumbled.
Of course, of course. You're right. You do far more important things than talk to a cat—you know, watching the people you hate, and hunting, sleeping a little, then repeating? Ya barely eat, ya know, Phantom said, riding her shoulder as she walked away from the edge of the cliff towards her howler.
"I eat," Shin told him frustratedly.
You eat in very minimal proportions, little wolf. Why, if I had to live the way you did, eating and sleeping so little, I…wouldn't be living anymore. I'd be dead, actually, Phantom admitted.
"Because you're a cat?" Shin asked, turning to glance at the animal on her shoulder.
Because I am normal. You are not normal, he explained.
"No Force-sensitives are normal," Shin said, shaking her head and walking towards her howler. It let out a low growl at the sight of the Loth-cat on Shin's shoulder.
Halt, foul beast, I am superior in all ways to a lowly life form like you, Phantom said loudly.
Shin turned her head to face him. "Do not insult other animals," she growled.
That is not an animal. Not that I've ever seen, anyway. He's like a…horse-wolf-dog, Phantom said seriously.
"You are a very weird cat. If you're quiet, maybe I'll feed you, though," Shin told him.
He mostly shut up after that.
She hunted, dropping most of the food off back at the camp, then headed back to her spot. Phantom rode on her shoulder the entire time, and she did, admittedly, feed him.
Not much.
She didn't want him to get attached—he needed to go back with the weird group to go back to Lothal.
It was twilight—the group were in the ravine, and had made a fire. Zeb had fallen asleep against the side of the cliff, Hera and Jacen had done the same. Huyang and Chopper had shut down, so the only ones awake were Sabine, Ahsoka, and Ezra. Ezra was sitting calmly by the fire with Sabine leaning on his shoulder, looking relaxed and half asleep.
Ahsoka was sitting across from them, meditating.
"Sabine," Ahsoka said suddenly, opening her eyes.
Shin was honestly half asleep herself, leaning against the rock. Phantom was curled comfortably in her lap, and he really was asleep. But hearing voices again perked Shin back up immidiately.
"Yes?" Sabine said, sounding honestly un-interested.
"I have a training…exercise for you," Ahsoka told her.
"What kind of 'exercise?' Why does this 'exercise' sound like something I'm not going to like?" Sabine demanded, straightening a little. Ezra groaned as he opened his eyes at the sudden movement of Sabine.
"I need you to…connect. With more. In the Force," Ahsoka began.
"Ahsoka, I'm trying—" Sabine started. But Ahsoka cut her off.
"I need you to connect with a person in the Force. To reach out to someone," Ahsoka said slowly.
"'Reach out?' I can do that. With Ezra, or Jacen," she said with a shrug.
"No. I need you to reach out to someone…who doesn't want you to reach out," Ahsoka said calmly.
"What? Like who?" Sabine asked suspiciously.
"Well…I need to get this done anyway, and I think it's better if I have you do it. I need you to reach out to Shin. Try to befriend her. Get her on our side, so we can bring her back. I don't want to leave her here," Ahsoka admitted.
"ARE. YOU. INSANE?!" Sabine demanded. "She will never befriend me. She stabbed me. And Force-choked me—I'm not going near her. She's like…unstable. And evil. And just overall dark. Not happening. Why don't you do it? She's never going to trust me, but she has no reason not to trust you."
"If you don't recall, I threw her at a rock. And if the rock hadn't been there, she would've ended up in the ocean," Ahsoka reminded her.
Shin rolled her eyes.
Never going to happen. I'm not befriending anyone—especially not Jedi.
"What about Ezra?" Sabine said desperately.
"Not his problem," Ahsoka said with a shrug.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN?! It isn't my problem, Ahsoka! I'm not going to get killed by my nemesis because you want to take her home like some stray animal! Not happening!" Sabine said defensively.
"Hm, really? How about you think about it like that, then. Think about her like you think about Murley—she needs to be tamed. You'll get there eventually," Ahsoka promised.
"No, don't think about her like that," Ezra said suddenly, "I mean, if you want to connect with her, then you want to treat her like you treat me. You connect with me no problem."
Sabine laughed. "No way. Shin is not my cat, and she is not you, Ezra. She is a very messed up girl. Who I hate."
"Mm, careful what you say," Ahsoka warned, "Shin, come down. I know you're hiding on the cliff."
Shin froze. She stood, slowly, saber ignited.
Ezra and Sabine both shot to their feet, weapons drawn, while Ahsoka stayed seated, still in a meditative position, perfectly calm and collected.
Shin slid down the cliff, gaze unwavering, glaring at Sabine. Phantom had woken up annoyed, and practically dragged himself down the cliff after Shin, grumbling about bratty rebels.
"Wren," Shin greeted.
"Hati," Sabine acknowledged, nodding curtly. Then she narrowed her eyes. "How long have you been watching?" Sabine asked.
"Actually, she watches us a lot. Every time we come here, matter of fact," Ahsoka remarked. Shin raised an eyebrow.
"I should've known a Jedi like you would've noticed," Shin muttered.
"Yes," Ahsoka smirked, "I do notice things like that."
Then Ahsoka did something unexpected—she used the Force to steal Sabine and Shin's sabers. Sabine, who had not been expecting this at all, let out a yelp as her saber fell into Ahsoka's hand. But Shin expected Ahsoka to try something.
That saber was Shin's power—and she wasn't going to let some Jedi take it for no reason.
She pulled back, stopping the lightsaber about halfway to Ahsoka.
"Give. It. Back!" Shin growled.
"No. I hate to pull you into this in that way, but I get the feeling if I don't take these away, you'll accidentally kill one another," Ahsoka said.
"It won't be accidental if I kill one of you," Shin snarled.
But she lost control—Ahsoka suddenly had Shin's lightsaber.
"Ugh. This is so unfair," Sabine muttered. Shin just glared at Ahsoka.
"You have no right to take that, Jedi," she growled.
Ahsoka smiled, a slight twinkle in her eyes, "I think I do, actually. You've been spying on us, and I haven't attacked you. This is what you owe me."
"I agreed to none of that," Shin huffed.
"True," Ahsoka said.
She really didn't sound like she cared that much.
"Good luck," Ahsoka said with a shrug.
"What do you mean, good luck?!" Sabine demanded, "what do you expect me to do with her?"
"Watch. Connect. No prisoners, no killing, no putting one another in pain. If you come back as friends, you both come back with us. You don't become friends, we leave you both here," Ahsoka explained.
"WHAT?!" Sabine and Ezra both yelped at once. "You can't do that!"
"It is a test, Sabine. Pass it," Ahsoka said simply.
"You sound like Baylan," Shin murmured.
Ahsoka ignored her. "May the Force be with you both," she said, then walked into the shadows and leaned against the cliff with the others.
Shin bolted.
This is not happening.
