Frank's POV:
"Hey babe, how was work?" I said as I turned to the front door, watching as Matt walked in. "Pretty insane. We have a huge client that were trying to prepare for a murder trial" Matt said as he let out a huge sigh while taking off, and organizing his shoes in the rack that was near the front door. "Aww I'm sorry love" I said as I got up off the couch, and made my way to Matt as i was now standing in front of him as he hung up his cane on the wall hook that was usually for our jackets.
"It's okay because I am feeling better now that I am home with you," He said as he took a step towards me and wrapped his hands around my neck. "Oh, that's just so cheesy ha," I said with a little chuckle and an eye roll. Even though he can't see me, it's still like he can sense when I do that. "Hey, don't roll your eyes at me, big man. I know you love it," Matt said with a little smirk as he pulled me in so we were chest to chest. "Mmm, you're right. I do love all of your corny little puns and jokes. It's good for my mental health," I said with a grin as I put our foreheads together.
"What do you want for dinner?" Matt said as he pulled away. I groaned at the loss of his contact. I felt empty when he wasn't around, and yes, I know how corny that sounds, but I don't give a shit. "How about I make your favorite pasta, and then we watch whatever movie you would like to while we eat?" I said as I grabbed his hands and guided him to the couch to sit. "You don't have to cook frank. I know you hate doing that," Matt said with a little smirk and a laugh. "Yes, you're right about that, but I want to treat you to something nice and homemade. You've been having a rough couple of days, and I want you to just sit back and rest. Ok," I said as I forced him to stay in place with my hands on his shoulder. "Ok, why not. I love it when you get all romantic and mushy," Matt said, making a kissy face. "I'm glad because it's one of my best traits," I said as I handed him the remote and kissed him on the forehead as he rolled his eyes. "Oh hey, look, who's doing it now?" I said with a chuckle as I made my way to the kitchen. "Oh sush," Matt said, returning the remark with the same beautiful laugh as always.
Matt's POV:
"Romance, comedy, thriller," the TV's voice said as I flipped through the genre of movies that were on netflix. "Anything specific genre you want to watch, baby?" I yelled to Frank as he stood in the kitchen. I could smell the noodles boiling, the shrimp, and chicken cooking in a separate pan. It all smelt so good. My stomach felt like it was doing flips, I could hear every growl and rumble from it. "Anything's fine with me, love. It's your choice," Frank said as his sole focus was on the food preparation.
"Okey dokey," I said with a little smile as I turned back towards the TV, continuing my search. About what felt like a million years later, the voice said horror, letting me know that I finally had gotten to my favorite genre of movie. I could hear Frank take a deep breath from the kitchen as if his breathing had quickened. "Are you ok?" I asked with some concern in my voice. Frank had stopped what he was doing for a quick second and cursed something under his breath that I couldn't quite catch. "Yeah, all good, sorry, I just cut my finger, nothing bad, or to worry about," He said with a little chuckle as he went back to cooking. I could tell he was lying, I didn't smell any blood coming from his direction, and i knew what blood smelt like. But I didn't want to push it, so I just turned back and looked for a horror movie for us to watch.
Frank's POV:
"Okay, hon, dinner is ready and served," I said with a little mm, mm noise coming out of my mouth as I sat down next to Matt, putting our plates on the table. "Perfect. Wow, it smells wonderful," Matt said as he gave me a little smile and a quick kiss on the lips before he sat criss cross on the couch. "Can you hand me the remote, please?" Matt asked as he sat back, not wanting to move as his plate was already conformably on his lap. "Here you go. So what did you pick?" I asked, curious and a little nervous as I knew he picked a horror category.
"It's one of my favorites. It's called the conjuring. It's the first one because I personally think that's the best one. The other ones not so much," Matt said with a happy look on his face. "Have you seen it?" He asked as he took a bit of his shrimp and chicken pasta. I just shook my head as an answer. "Babe?" Matt said in a confused tone. "Oh, right, sorry. No, I haven't. I never really watched these types of movies most of the time Lisa had control over the TV," I said with a nervous chuckle, hoping that Matt couldn't see through my frasode, or hear the tone in my voice change from happiness to sadness.
"I'm sorry. I know it's hard," Matt said as he entwined our hands together, squeezing tightly as my breathing picked up a pace. "No, no, don't apologize. I'm glad I have you. I just don't think I'm really ready to talk about it," I said as I leaned my head on Matt's shoulder. "That's ok, love. I'll always be here for you. No matter what, I will always be right next to you whenever you are ready to talk about everything. Ok?" Matt said as he cleared his throat. I could tell he was trying to hold back his tears. "I know, and I am eternally grateful for you every day of my life," I said in a whispered tone as I turned his head towards me, and gave him a little kiss on the lips, staring into his eyes.
After sitting there for a moment, I cleared my throat, sat up, grabbed my plate, and joined Matt in the same criss cross position that he was in. "Let's watch the movie before our food gets too cold," I said with a little awkward laugh as I whipped the rogue tear that had gotten away from me. "You sure?" Matt asked as he grabbed the remote that was now on his lap. "Yeah, I love watching movies with you. No matter what it is." I said as I leaned back, getting comfortable as Matt pressed play.
Matt's POV:
"The young girl screamed as she was dragged down the stairs into the basement," the commentary of the TV said as I finished the last bite of my meal. "Oh my god girl, what the hell are you doing. Run your skinny ass up those stairs," I heard Frank say in a hushed voice with an annoyance to his tone under his breath as he tugged the blanket that was covering both of us closer to him.
I paused the TV as I got up, stretching my legs. I could feel all the bones in my legs and back pop as I let out a groan along with a yawn. "Shit, I am getting too old to sit like that," I said with a chuckle as I turned towards Frank, sticking my hand out. "What?" He said with a little hesitation. I could tell he was fully under the blanket now by the way his voice was muffled when he talked. "I'm taking the plates into the kitchen," I said with a little chuckle as I bent over a little, giving my back another good pop. "Oh, right. Here," Frank said as he handed me the cold plate. "You didn't finish?" I said with a little confusion as I made my way over to the kitchen slowly since I didn't have my hands free just in case there was something blocking my way even though I had the layout of the condo memorized in my head.
"I didn't have much of an appetite. Sorry," He said as the plates made a loud metallic sound as I put them on the counter. "That's okay. Are you sure you're ok? Your heart is racing," I said as I made my way back to Frank with a graon as I sat down. "Yeah, I'm good. Promise. Can we just finish this, please?" Frank said with a raised voice and a hint of anger in his tone like he was starting to get impatient. "Yeah, of course, sorry," I said as I pressed play. I wasn't going to pry. I didn't want to start a fight.
Time Skip*
"Ahhhhh, bathsheba screamed as the family ran out of the house. She was being pulled back down to hell where she belonged. The house was safe, free. The family was safe and free. Nothing could hurt them now," the TV's commentary said as the end credits began to roll, and the music picked up. "Finally, it's over," Frank said with a relieved sigh and a chuckle as he stood up. I could hear his heartbeat calm, and his breathing began to slow. Why was I such an idiot. I understood now why he was so impatient and eager for the movie to just get on with.
"I'm sorry," I said in a hushed tone as I lowered my head. "What was that baby?" Frank asked as he kneeled in front of me. I could feel his hands on my knees. "I said I'm sorry. I'm such an idiot," I said as the tears rolled down my cheeks, and my voice cracked. "What? What are you talking about?" Frank said as he lifted my head by my chin. I couldn't stop the tears. "I'm really sorry. I should have known you wouldn't watch the movie. I could tell that you were afraid. I just thought it was because of the jumpscares," I said in a ramble as I tried to wipe the tears away. I could feel my eyes burn.
"Stop, baby. Stop you have no reason to apologize. I should have told you, but I was afraid that you would think I was a coward, that you would think it was such a stupid thing to be afraid of. So please don't cry. You didn't do anything wrong," Frank said as he squeezed my hands, pulling me in for a hug. I just nodded my head. I couldn't say anything. I still felt like I was going to bawl my eyes out if anything came out of my mouth. "I love you," Frank said as he pulled me up. "So much. I'm sorry for not telling you. For making you feel like an idiot," Frank said as he pulled me in for another hug, squeezing me tightly.
"I'll watch a thousand horror movies just for you, Matt. No matter how scared shitless I am," Frank said with a big laugh and a little kiss on my lips as he sat down, pulling me onto his lap.
It's such a stupid reason to cry, but I love him, and I don't want him to feel like he ever needs to hide anything from me. No matter what type of fear it is.
"No secrets," I said in a whispered tone as I put our foreheads together. "No secrets."
THE END
