The Olympians. The proud beings whose civilization created the great Parthenon, the walls of
Athens, and the very institutions that ensure that any country that follows them will have those rights
due to man. They were the heart and soul of seven great kingdoms, and they have given to our
literature those characters and characterizations that make humanity imbued with heavenly beauty
and skill. The Muses granted us those arts which drew us closer to the Divinity of Olympus, math,
astronomy, and all those things which bring music and light to a darkening world.
Yet, despite all of their gifts, the Olympians were scorned, condemned, and ostracized. Disrespect
gave way to sacrilege, and sacrilege gave way
to disbelief. And once they stopped believing, they
forgot. They forgot the mighty power of Olympus, of her king, and his immortal servants. They
preferred
to believe the lie that all things could be explained scientifically and rationally; the
Olympians had no place in this rationalistic world, and so they removed themselves from it.
They sundered Olympus from the ground which they had
hallowed and they contented themselves
with the homage of their demigods and those children which they could not, would not, part with.
As they marched down through the ages, they were remembered again, but now they were
relegated to myth and explained away as the tired
babblings of the ancients. People dared risk their
wrath by this irreligious portrayal of the mightiest powers in the universe.
And so, the most ancient of the ancient refused to accept
their fate, and with pure sorcery and
power they determined to bring Olympus back and overthrow those who had dared disrespect them
and those who had allowed such treachery.
The Demons–
NYX: Daughter of the Primordial Chaos,
Nyx is by far one of the most highly feared Olympian
demons. She does not shy away from allowing
the world to devolve into chaos and blackness and it is
believed that she is the mother of some of the
worst tyrants Earth has ever seen. In between her runs
of despotism and murder, she did sire two children, each made to bring about the new Olympian
order in their own way. One was Aelina who would later be the mother of the Miracle Child, and
Illusia, who would ascend to take her mother's
place. These two children were the most powerful of all
her brood and it is said at their birth, both Sleep and Death bowed the knee. Cf. Aelina and Illusia.
Chaos: The Father of
Nyx, he allowed his daughter to be defeated and took her place as Master of
Darkness, orchestrating the happenings of both the First and the Senior Partners. Where Nyx had
merely made use of these evil beings, Chaos caused them to
surrender their power to him and enable
him to force the Olympians to reveal their powers or allow the world to crumble into darkness. He was
ultimately destroyed when both Aelina and Illusia joined their unique powers against him. He was
staked through the heart by the Vampire Slayer.
Uranus: The first high King of the Olympians and the most powerful being of all, he was the one
who created Tartarus which contains every hell-dimension. He was also the father of half of the
demon tribes known to man. It is believed that furthermore, he initiated both the beginnings of the
vampires and the Slayer demon, knowing that by
the constant warfare between the two factions, he
would be able to increase his power substantially. He
was hindered in his aim by the birth of Zeus who
overthrew him and scattered the demons to all
the different hell-dimensions. With the destruction of
his fellow Primordial Chaos, he took his rightful place as
Emperor of the whole world. He demanded
that Wolfram & Hart destroy Angel and his group and at the final apocalyptic battle, he himself forced
Illusia into the battle that killed her, destry Angel Investigations resolves. He then thrust Los Angeles
into Hell.
Aelina: The first daughter of Nyx, she was born solely so that Nyx could ensure the birth of the
Miracle Child. She, however, grew up having no knowledge of her mother and immigrated to Virginia
where she worked as a whore. As she lay dying of syphilus, the Master of the Order of Aurelius turned
her, claiming her as his most powerful acolyte. She was later named Darla and sired the vampire
Angelus; they would roam Europe for a hundred and fifty years before Angelus was ensouled and left
the Whirlwind. After being killed by Angel, formerly
Angelus,
in defense of the Slayer she was risen
again by Wolfram & Hart. There she was used to
haunt and torment Angel hoping to turn him back to
the dark side. Though this failed, in a moment of perfect
despair, Angel slept with her. When he
wouldn't stay with her
again, she fled Los Angeles and was thought gone forever. However, she
returned, bearing the child of Angel. With Daniel Holtz dogging her steps, Darla realized that to save
the only thing that she ever loved, she would have
to stake herself. She was saved from this by her
sister Illusia willingly taking
up the mantle of the dead Nyx
and
becoming the second Nyx, a powerful
harbinger of darkness and light. She then helped Angel Investigations battle and later take over
Wolfram & Hart.
Illusia: The daughter of Nyx by the Watcher Rupert Giles, she was named Trixie Giles, a name
her mother hated. She originally meant to become her mother's right hand, the one who would join
both the humans and the
demons together as a sort of Chosen One. However, when Ethan Rayne
raped her, leaving her with a curse that caused her to feel
the pain of his assault again everytime
anyone touched her, her mother discarded her as
merely a useless pawn. Isolated from her father, she
visited him just after Graduation Day and then
left for Los Angeles, eager to get away from Watcher
culture. There she met Angel who became the only person
she trusted enough to touch her and slowly
unlocked her powers as the daughter of Nyx. Once she realized her own potential, she became
characterized by her unwillingness to befriend any of the
Scoobies and her love and protection of
Darla. She willingly gave
up her human soul so that she could
save Darla from dusting herself and
give Connor a mother. She
continued to darken
slowly until she initiated a romantic relationship with
Angelus, one which carried over with Angel, and when he took over the Circle of the Black Thorn, she
fought with Uranus. She almost beat him before he and the Senior Partners cast everyone away from
her and plunged Los Angeles into Hell. She was then killed by Uranus and sent to Tarturus ultimate.
However, Aphrodite, who had considered her acolyte and servant, after Twilight, sent her to Angel
and called him to fight again. With both of them woken up
and
stronger than ever, Illusia helped fight
the final battle and end the power of Uranus forever. The perfect Olympus was then restored and all
humanity was at peace, with Angel and Illusia ruling over the half-breeds, Spike and Buffy over the
humans.
The Slayer: Originally the essence of a demon was infused into a captive girl named Sineya.
When she died, her powers went to the next Slayer who was guarded by the Shadowmen who had
performed the ritual creating the first Slayer. The current Slayers are Buffy Summers and Faith
LeHane and the numerous other people who became
the activated Slayers. However, Buffy and Faith
are the most powerful and they most likely will be the most well known.
