"There Maria Sally Jane!"
If someone told Mugman to take a little infant, told him crazily that she was his niece and told him that she was the most beautiful thing on Earth, and then he should take her to the cemetery and tell her
"That's your Mama Chalice. Oh, that's your Granddad. And your other granddad. Oh! And then
there's your dad. Cuphead."
There were tears that wanted to escape and sort out into her small white dress. If it were Mugman who raised her she would have never worn such an expensive dress. Maybe a patched up jumpsuit and that would be it. He wanted to leave, but Sally and Jack insisted he should be the one to take care of her.
While they were off doing what? God knew.
Maria stirred and started to open her eyes, Mugman stared at her, she was so adorable and small. Wanting nothing but perhaps reassurance from her Uncle. It made Mugman upset he had neither the money nor want to keep her around. Because he was not some 18 year old yet, rather a young boy in between 11-14 years old.
She gurgled now, her lips smacking, for milk he could only guessed. He turned away, Cuphead may have not been world's best twin brother, but he knew he was caring, and even if a betrayal is at hand for giggles, he makes up for it. In his own way.
Mugman now turns to look at no more Ms. Chalice, who is buried next to her adoptive father. And he utters a goodbye and a good riddance to both of them. On the edge of traitor, and in between a dumbass.
Mugman and Maria leave and decide to take a look around town, they go this sacred day, and maybe the next one too. Maybe when the town forgets to live and see him as just a normal boy.
He bears no cash yet when he sees Maria he wants to spend a million fortunes for her name. Like nothing else matters when she's in his arms. He is said to be a natural, holding babies and getting them to calm down.
The old ladies tell him he should get married, and have kids. But he understands what they do when they have any children.
They die.
There is no italics to put it to words, only simple arial text that can't turn to black. No one expect him to vow to never marry.
Be it human cup or mermaid.
There will come, he will rush.
Like an irresponsible drunk.
There will be a day, when he leaves.
Mugman realizes he has to do something. Maybe not right now he wants to keep Maria around, but another time.
