Cassie Hack Pov:
"While living in Seabrook feels like a chippy musical you want to leave and give a bad review. It's not that bad of a place once you find the right spot to hang out, like Sentinel's Big House. They have tons of beasts and maniacs I can take my stress out when they become unruly and don't listen to the people who are trying to help them. They also have a shooting range that helps me with my marksmanship since everyone thinks' Revenant is good with a gun. However I do happen to notice whenever I'm around him, Wynter bares her fangs at me as if I plan on stealing him from her. I mean I get it; this town hasn't seen a girl like myself who can rock fishnets and is good with a spiked baseball bat. That doesn't mean I plan on being the center of attention, I already get it from the slayers I and Vlad had hunted down over the past years on the road together. Other than that, this place seems alright for someone like myself to call it a temporary home."
Morning-Sentinel's Big House
Having the day off and needing to practice her self-defense techniques, Cassie Hack was permitted to use the big house's training room to help keep herself physically fit and ready for any attacks that would appear from out of nowhere. Having torn the heads off the practice dummies that she used her bat on, Cassie decided to work on her target practice as she was armed with her pistol. Watching the moving bullseye going left to right, Cassie's eyes locked onto them as she shot at each one without missing. Continuing with her target practice, the black-haired girl didn't notice walking into the room was Night Wing who watched the human girl put her emotion into each shot.
"You have a lot of anger within yourself, Cassie Hack."
He called out to her which caused Cassie to miss her last target and shoot at the wall. Grumbling at the fruitpire for interrupting her shooting, she decided to reload her weapon and take a break due to how Brit informed her that whenever he would appear, there was something important he'd want to tell that person he would want to speak to.
"I call it 'Aggression relief', considering that I'm stuck in a town that wants me to relieve one of the most traumatic experiences in my life and that of having to attend high school. Vlad and I should be back on the road continuing our actual job, which is protecting people from real monsters."
Cassie responded to him about the annoyance of having to redo school again after the drama she'd endured during her childhood. Night Wing had taken a look into her history after spending time with Vlad since out of the duo, he was open to talking with others who weren't afraid of him due to his monstrous strength and appearance. Which included telling him about the lunch lady, the woman who became Cassie's first kill and was her mother during the time she was in school.
"Fortunately. The monsters that you hunt often come here, including the people who do your work as well. You should have been here last Halloween; the gang met an old acquaintance of mine, Screw-On Head. Which is his actual name."
The mentor spoke about her not being the only slayer hunter going after killers, psychos, and the supernatural who seek to harm humanity for the fun of it. She rolled her eyes at his statement due to how she'd already met several of them during her time on the road. None of them had the decency to drag her and Vlad into their hometown and become their permanent guest, which has left her to not be fond of where she was staying.
"Then for their sake. They better start coming here since I'm getting sick of waiting to feel like I'm more useful than acting like an ordinary girl."
She told him that her being in a town that was full of smiling humans and monsters made her feel soft as well as useless. Night Wing could see the truth in her words about not being like everyone else and needing trouble in her life, the human girl had been through so much that it was considered to her normal than doing the everyday activities that happen in Seabrook. For a while, there haven't been any sightings of malevolent forces or dangerous individuals seeking senseless destruction in Seabrook. Taking a moment to look at his phone, he happened to find something that would be great for Cassie's moment of boredom and could help keep up with her skills.
"There is a matter that seems to be up your alley. It more or less revolves around our way of life, or 'slayers' life as you dubbed yourself since it's coming across Seabrook's route."
He informed her before throwing the phone to Cassie the girl took a look at the news article that was written about an unusual sighting of a large entity with unnatural strength wearing the face of a clown being sighted across numerous cities. While it didn't seem to be anywhere near Seabrook to that their issue since it was an outside problem, it caught Night Wing's attention since he learned that the random locations went directly toward Seabrook without Sentinel or the Mayor's notice.
"Clowns. Out of all the things that people consider demented and deranged, I freaking hate clowns."
Cassie spoke out about how whenever there was an incident involving someone dressing up as a circus performer such as a clown, it was either a messed up monster that delighted scaring people to it being an ordinary person who went insane. Staring at the fruitpire to see if this was legit, Night Wing nodded at Cassie not taking it lightly since the sightings of newcomers had to be taken seriously for the safety of the town's people. Smirking at his expression, she grabbed her weapons and went out the door to see if she couldn't get a head start in finding the clown-faced Slayer before Revenant and the others did.
"Maybe I should have told Revenant or Eliza. Or anyone at the moment."
Night Wing muttered to himself about it being a mistake to tell Cassie about the slayer clown making an appearance in Seabrook due to how she was impossible to manage and handle because of her vulgar personality. Following the excited human down the hallway past several Sentinel agents, Cassie happened to walk through a guard who was escorting an irritated creature that snarled at her for crossing its path. She glared at the beast which caused it to whimper at how aggressive Cassie got toward her as she continued walking down the hallway toward the exit, Night Wing saw the feat of no fear and not being in the mood for distractions.
"That girl. Has a lot of issues."
The guard responds toward Night Wing at Cassie's reaction toward the creature they were taking to the kitchen as it whimpered in a scared manner from the girl's glare. The mentor said nothing but walked down the hallway to the exit area where she and Vlad's van was parked, the two arrived to see Eliza and Wyatt helping the large man in making the van comfortable and up to date if they ever plan to hit the road again.
"We have free cable?"
Vlad asked Eliza who was in charge of giving his van an upgrade that included a small television set that had hundreds of channels for him and Cassie to watch as well as a mini fridge that would hold a large amount of food for them. Wyatt was in charge of making a bed in the back since he was told about how uncomfortable Vlad slept since he and Cassie didn't have the chance to find a nearby motel to sleep in.
"Hey, Cassie. We gave you a van makeover, it might take a while before going back on the road and scaring the daylights out of the slayers you're hunting."
Wyatt told Cassie about how the duo would be riding in style which caused the human to keep her comments to herself on Vlad getting special treatment and making him soft. Not saying anything, she walked over and spoke to her large friend in silence before checking in the back to make sure Wyatt and Eliza didn't move her belongings.
"Don't take her silence for granted. She'll like it, a good sleep always helps her out when it comes to hanging out with friends."
Vlad told the two how she was grateful for the redecorating as the girl saw her stuff in the same place as before since Vlad knew how close she was to her belongings. Heading over to the driver's seat and calling for her friend to hop in, Vlad thanked the couple for helping make their van comfortable during their stay at Seabrook as he headed over to sit in the van with Cassie Hack. The two drove off leaving Eliza and Wyatt stumped by Cassie's response in making them feel comfortable in Seabrook since she wasn't fond of her being here by force after A-Spen's powers caused her to attend high school.
"It's fortunate that you two are here. I was looking for a reason to get you two up to date with your self-defense skills. Which I know you both require after becoming seniors again."
Night Wing spoke to the two which resulted in the zombie and werewolf looking unsure about wanting to train with him since they'd managed to fight against everything from humans stopping them from being themselves and ancient beasts that wanted to scare humans to that of destroying them. While they would dread the idea of being trained by the fruitpire again, Cassie and Vlad went on the road and drove into town as the girl told her friend about the clown slayer making an appearance in Seabrook. It made the large man filled with anger after spending time around the people who smiled too much and cheerleading, they found him ordinary like any other traveler who wanted to visit the small town.
"It's been a while since we've taken down a slayer. You've got a chance to get your hands dirty after the robot gorilla you told me about, I don't know if I have it in me to hurt someone."
He told Cassie that his time in Seabrook left him feeling at peace and not needing to get out his gas mask and butcher knives in an attempt to take out something horrible and insane. While she wasn't the type to relax and take a day off from going after killers, Cassie couldn't say the same for Vlad as the big man needed relaxation with how his life had been and Seabrook is the best place for him to enjoy it.
"If anything I missed you when that metal ape came out and attacked me. That makes it special when we're together, best buddies going after nutjobs and monsters. Also, I'm sure you still have those killer instincts in you if that clown bastard shows his face here."
She responded to him on having missed Vlad in facing off the Kriegaffe with the others. Sure, the Z-gang were able to keep up in fighting an unnatural beast that didn't hesitate in killing them if they stood in his way. When it came to her and Vlad, it felt special since he was the only one that she enjoyed spending time around due to him acting upbeat and friendly made Cassie feel comfortable. Looking at the compartment by Vlad's chair, she pulled out his gas mask which made the large man smirk at them going back into business in Slayer hunting and protecting locals from things that didn't want to make friends and were looking for senseless killing.
Later-Seabrook High Running Track
It was the afternoon at the school and Principal Lee had asked Addison as well as her cheer team to recruit new members to the team who would bring more excitement to the school's cheerleading program. Hosting the tryout in the track yard due to more space and the temperature being perfect, Addison along with her teammates Bree and Bucky were looking at the candidates that had caught Addison's attention.
"While it's not a surprise that I'm the class president after graduating since I'm naturally perfect. Half of these candidates don't seem up to date with the vision of the perfect cheer team."
Bucky told his cousin about still being class president and leaving the cheer team in the care of Addison since she had the most spirit out of everyone in the school to lead them. One of the recruits was Dae who felt like being a part of the cheerleading team could help open up with everyone at the school, but only as the team's nurse since she'd check up on how the team was doing and keep them hydrated. Various other members involved zombies, werewolves, and aliens that Addison took consideration in bringing in.
"Don't be jealous because you and the Acy's are handling the responsibilities of being class president. Each person that Addison brought to the team has just as enough spirit as your old team, plus Revenant and Eliza encouraged Addison in who would be great picks for the cheer team."
Bree supported her best friend's picks since several of the candidates that Addison found had the potential to be amazing cheerleaders. The cheer captain blushed at her friend's support and that the recruits to the cheer team would make the school full of spirit when they perform for the upcoming games. She took a moment to look at the list of recruits for the cheer team, Addison saw at the end of the list a girl with a long name that was creative and would be another perfect addition to the team since she wanted it to be unlike any other cheerleading team that the school had in the past.
"Panda Carmenmaria Delgado, you're up next."
Addison read her name as the trio looked over at the bleachers seeing one of the new cheerleaders sitting by the side chewing on bubble gum and waiting to be noticed. Panda was one of the new students who came to Seabrook High after hearing about the excitement that happens here along with wanting to show off her athletic skills. The Hispanic girl walked over swaying her hips from left to right attracting several of the students who were on the track exercising and training for upcoming games.
"It's just Panda. My whole name is only said when I'm angry, other than that. Just Panda."
She informed her potential cheer captain of not having her full name called out due to it being a sign of getting upset or agitated. With that in mind, Addison acknowledged that she was going to ask Panda to do several moves to see how flexible she is. The moment was interrupted by people hollering from the sidelines as it came from one of the rival teams that were checking out the competition, the high school team was the Edgefield Snappers.
"Look at this boys. To keep themselves relevant and wanting to be different from everyone else, they decided to bring monsters onto the cheer team. And she looks just as monstrous as the rest."
The football captain of the Snappers announced which caught Zed and Revenant's attention since they weren't fond of the word 'monster'. Before any of them could tell the rival team to leave so that Addison could continue her auditions for the cheer team, Panda couldn't help but laugh at how cocky they were all acting since they wanted to check in on the new competition they'd be facing in the fall. Not saying a word and walking over to the radio that was on top of the table near the judges, Panda presses a button that starts to play background music which allows the girl to get into the moment as she walks toward the Snapper's football captain.
"I think it's so cute and I think it's so sweet. How you let your friends encourage you, to try and talk to me. But let me stop you there, oh, before you speak~"
She started to sing in a soft manner that drew the captain's attention seeing that out of all the players on the team, Panda wanted to be close to him. Addison and the others didn't know what the new cheerleader was doing but felt it was going to shift quickly in the girl's favor as Panda kicked him in the family jewels leaving everyone speechless at the aggressive attack."
"Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
Shouting in his ear before grabbing the boy by the ear and dragging him toward the center of the field where everyone would watch her handle the rude rival team. The Snappers jumped over the fence and wanted to help their captain but saw how Panda was gripping their leader's ear tightly to the point where she could rip it off with one tug.
"My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no, uh. You need to let it go, uh. You need to let it go, uh. Need to let it go. Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
Explaining to him that she wasn't interested in him and teasing the football player into letting him go as Panda does so. Throwing him back with his group, Panda taunted the rival players into taking her on for humiliating their captain in front of them. They were cautious about how to approach the girl due to the Snappers noticing a look in her eyes on wanting to get into a fight.
"My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no! You need to let it go, uh. You need to let it go, uh. Need to let it go. Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
Repeating herself to the gang before one of the snappers attempted to rush her left Panda to trip the would-be attacker and put him in an arm lock, Addison and the others wanted to help break up the fight but were stopped by Revenant since he wanted to see her in action. While not a fan of senseless fighting and seeing people get injured with broken limbs, it was good to see bullies put in their place by someone who they didn't think would put up a fight.
"First, you gonna say you ain't runnin' game. Thinking I believed every word. Call me beautiful, so original. Telling me I'm not like other girls, I was in my zone before you came along. Now I'm thinking maybe you should go. Blah, blah, blah. I will be like nah to the ah to the no, no, no!"
Panda continued to mock the Snappers as she kicked the man's backside to the ground before jumping over him and kicking two football players at the same time. The new cheerleader ran upward to the bleachers with her watching the agitated football players coming after Panda, she only got excited at the attention she was receiving.
"All my ladies, listen up. If that boy ain't giving up. Lick your lips and swing your hips. Girl, all you gotta say is~"
Instructing the new cheerleaders that Addison and Bree allowed on the team to learn from her as Panda started to hurt the Snapper football players by making each of them fall on the steps which left them to twist their feet and collapse on the seats with how slippery they were. Everyone saw how despite her not being strong like the girls who would help with lifting the team members in the air, her nimbleness made it impossible for the football players to catch her.
"My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no! You need to let it go, uh. You need to let it go, uh. Need to let it go. Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
She reminded them that Panda not watching her back from one of the extra Snapper football players that were hiding in the back after watching the humiliation the girl was doing to their teammates. Hitting her from behind and launching Panda in the air, taking the initiative and catching her. The Hispanic girl saw her savior be Revenant as Zed and several of his zombie players wandered off the snappers from trying to jump the new cheerleader. Scuffing at him catching her in time, Panda got out of Revenant's arms and pointed at him for embarrassing her for not hitting the ground she was all right with falling on the ground.
"Thank you in advance, I don't wanna dance. I don't need your hands all over me. If I want a man, then I'ma get a man. But it's never my priority. I was in my zone before you came along. Don't want you to take this personal, blah, blah, blah! I be like nah to the ah to the, no, no, no."
Panda told Revenant about not needing a partner or any backup after he caught her in the air. The zombie said nothing as the girl made her way past Zed's football players since this was her fight and didn't need extra help from anyone. The Snapper quarterbacks saw how Panda was acting prideful and decided to make another rush toward her since she'd declared there wasn't a need for help.
"All my ladies, listen up. If that boy ain't giving up. Lick your lips and swing your hips. Girl, all you gotta say is~"
She announced to the quarterbacks toward Panda took off one of their helmets and smashed it against their heads. The new cheerleader was using it like a club and made sure to put in a lot of her strength in each swing. Nobody helped the new students as the gang saw how tough she was and did not need assistance from the mighty shrimps.
"My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no! You need to let it go, uh. You need to let it go, uh. Need to let it go. Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no! My name is no! My sign is no! My number is no! You need to let it go, you need to let it go. Need to let it go, nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
Repeating to herself until the football helmet that Panda was using broke on the last Snapper player as she got nervous at how there were several of them standing and wouldn't back down from teaching her a lesson. Noticing her being outnumbered, Panda evaded being captured by doing cartwheels away from them as it showed Addison and the others her flexibility to not run out of breath as she continued to cartwheel away from them.
"I'm feeling, Untouchable, untouchable. I'm feeling, untouchable, untouchable. I'm feeling, untouchable, untouchable. I'm feeling, nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
She repeated herself to where Panda couldn't and collapsed to the ground as she became dizzy from the cartwheeling and saw the Snapper football captain walking over toward her. He was stopped by Revenant about grabbing him by the shoulder and lifting him in midair before walking over to help Panda up which irritated her on being assisted.
"All my ladies, listen up. If that boy ain't giving up. Lick your lips and swing your hips. Girl, all you gotta say is!"
Singing toward Revenant as the zombie didn't step away from her situation after noticing the remaining Snapper players still standing as he didn't have time to argue with her. Seeing one of their quarterbacks coming from behind, the zombie pulled Panda to the side and offered to assist her in the tryout the two worked together to perform several cheerleading moves leaving the duo to take down the remaining Snappers. The others watched how they worked together despite not knowing each other, Panda herself was laughing while Revenant was focused on not dropping her.
"My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no! You need to let it go, uh. You need to let it go, uh. Need to let it go. Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no! My name is no, my sign is no, my number is no! You need to let it go, uh. You need to let it go, uh. Need to let it go. Nah to the ah to the, no, no, no!"
The two sang together before finishing the routine and had the Snapper team run away in fear of thinking they had the upper hand and thought they weren't good. Having finished and dropped Panda, she took a moment to hide a smile since it was the most fun she's had since coming to Seabrook. She heard the sound of applauding coming from Addison and her friends on the performance and standing up toward the rival football team.
"With that performance not afraid to defend the Mighty Shrimp. I say you'd be a perfect addition to the cheer squad."
She commended Panda on performing amazingly and representing the team that she would work with, having been welcomed and hearing a car horn honking behind the bleachers. Panda thanked them for welcoming her on board before grabbing her belongings and heading to the car where her father was waiting in the driver's seat where the girl opened the door and sat in the passenger seat.
"So, how'd it go."
The father asked Panda bluntly to see if she got onto the team and familiarized herself with her new classmates as well as the surroundings of them being around nonhumans. She looked outside of her window to see if the gang was looking at them and she saw the gang heading back into the school. With the close clear, Panda let out a laugh of excitement and smiled at what she had just experienced a few seconds ago.
"It was awesome, Daddy! I mean when you got that message about coming here I was upset since we already had a good gig back in Georgia. But I know this town isn't as dull as the brochure says, it'll be a perfect place to start some old-fashioned skull bruising. Shame that we have to do it to that glasses zombie, he's kinda cute."
Panda responded to her father about how it went and that they weren't here for just the school and living arrangements that Seabrook had to offer. Throwing her bag in the back, it was filled with numerous weapons that involved blunt objects and firearms as well as a yellow clown mask. The father started up the car before driving off to a nearby house that he was able to purchase and occupy while he and Panda started up their business, which included finding interesting people and taking them out.
"The song was 'No' by Meghan Trainor, all rights to the song belong to her. Introducing to the story is Clown Face and Panda from Dark Horse Comic's 'Body Bags'. If you're curious about the two, the comic is available to read. Other than that, the next chapter will involve new guests coming to Seabrook. Stay tuned to see who'll come by and visit the Z-Gang."
