Chapter 11

Rumble In The Jungle

Poketopia, Jungle District

Following the address Mrs Big gave them, they found themselves walking to a house that was only accessible by a large rope bridge over a large pit, all the while, heavy rain was overhead.

Once they got to the house, Judy rang the doorbell. "Mr. Manches. Judy Zaps, PPD. We just wanna know what happened to Emmitt Gumshooston." Judy said to the door, hoping he was home.

"You…" A male voice said, as the door slowly opened, revealing a chain still attached to it. "Should be asking…" Mr. Manches said, revealing he was a Liepard. "What happened to me." Mr. Manches said to Judy, revealing a nasty scar over his right eye.

"Whoa! Uh, the florist Gumshoos did that?" Nick asked, everyone was shocked by the scar. "It does look worse than normal." Kalena said, knowing scares, and knowing something was odd about it. "What happened?" Judy asked Mr. Manches. "He was a beast." Mr. Manches said to Judy.

Past

In the past Mr. Manches was drivealign normally, when he noticed something odd in the rearview mirror. "Thrashing around." Mr. Manches said in the present, as he adjusted the rearview mirror.

"Roaring his kinds name." Mr. Manches said in the present, as his past self saw Emmitt losing his words and kept repeating Gumshoos.

This made past Mr. Manches looked back, but couldn't see anyone. "He was a savage!" Mr. Manches said in the present, as his past self was attacked by Emmitt, and Emmitt slashed his eyes.

This caused Mr. Manches to lose control of the limo, and make him stop on the side of the road. Covering his right eye, Mr. Manches got out of the car in a panic. And when he did, he noticed Emmitt's eyes glowing red and purple smoke coming off him. Then Emmitt disappeared into the night.

Poketopia, Jungle District

"There was no warning. He just kept yelling about Bokusa and the Night Howlers. Over and over. Bokusa and the Night Howlers." Mr. Manches said to everyone, a very scared tune in his voice.

"Night Howlers?" Kipo quietly asked everyone, with no one having a clue. "I might learn something. Watch this." Nick quietly said to everyone.

"So you know about Bokusa and the Night Howlers, too? Good. Good, good. Because Bokusa and the Night Howlers are exactly what we are here to talk about." Nick said to Mr. Manches.

"Right?" Nick asked everyone, causing them to realize what Nick was doing. "Right." Kalena said to Nick. "Of course." Kipo said to Nick. "Yup." Judy said to Nick. "So, uh, So just open the door and tell us what you know and we will tell you what we know. Okay?" Judy asked Mr. Manches.

"Okay." Mr. Manches said to Juydd, as he closed the door so he could remove the chain. "Clever Thievul." Judy said to Nick, as everyone smiled.

That's when they heard some rushling. "That doesn't sound good." Kalena said to everyone, as they slowly moved to the door. "Mr. Manches?" Judy asked as she slowly opened the door.

"Buddy?" Nick asked, as they noticed Manches acting crazy, and rolling thrashing around. "Are you okay?" Judy asked Manches.

That's when Manches turned to everyone, and saw his eyes glowing red and letting out purple. Manches then growled at everyone. "Liepard!" Manches said to everyone.

"He's not okay!" Kipo said to everyone. "Run. Run!" Judy said to everyone. "Don't have to tell me twice." Kalena said to everyone, as they started to run, with Kalena closing the door on Manches.

But that didn't stop him, Manches ripped through his door like he was nothing. Manches then chased everyone onto the rope bridge. "What is wrong with him?" Nick asked everyone.

"I don't know!" Judy said to Nick, as Manches shook the rope bridge. "He was just fine a minute ago. What changed?" Kipo asked everyone. "We can figure that out later. After we survive this!" Kalena said to everyone. "He's getting closer!" Kipo said to everyone, as they noticed Manches was right on their tail.

"Jump!" Judy said to everyone, as they jumped over the sides of the bridge. This made Manches crash into a street sign, while everyone else landed on a large branch below the bridge.

Kalena then looked up and saw Manches getting ready to jump down to them. "Here he comes!" Kalena said to everyone. "Come on!" Judy said to everyone, as they all started to run with Judy leading the way, as Manches landed near them and gave chase.

Running Kalena saw a large fallen branch that was hollow on the inside.

"Everyone, go through here. I'll hold him off for a bit." Kalena said to everyone, as she stopped and turned to Manches, while everyone else entered the fallen and hollow branch.

Manches then lunged at Kalena, and the two of them got into a nasty fight, rolling around and crashing into the branch. "Head down!" Judy said to everyone

"Oh. Oh!" Nick said, as they avoided Kalena and Manches smashing into the branch, with very parts of their bodies. "Officer Zaps to Dispatch." Judy said into her radio.

Poketopia, City Center

Back at the police station, Munchauser was ignoring Judy's message, and showing a cop and criminal his phone that had a video of Primzelle playing. "Are you familiar with Primzelle, greatest singer of our lifetime, angel with fins?" Munchauser asked them, before giggling a little.

"Okay, hold on. Keep watching. Who's that besides her? Who is it?" Munchauser asked everyone, as the video zoomed out to reveal Munchauser's very eager head on a Quaquaval's body.

"Wow you are one hot dancer, Benjamin Munchauser." A computer version of Primzella's voice said to the fake Munchauser.

Not that Munchauser cared. Hearing that made him very excited. "It's me! Did you think it was real? It looks so real!" Munchauser said to everyone, with no one believing him and giving him flat looks.

"It's not, it's just a new app." Munchauser said to everyone, before noticing his radio was beeping. "Hold on a second." Munchauser said to everyone, as he answered the radio.

"MUNCHAUSER!" Judy yelled from the radio, shocking Munchauser.

Poketopia, Jungle District

"Munchauser, listen to me, we have a 10-91! Liepard gone savage! Vine and tuh-junja!" Judy said to Munchauser, threw the radio, as they exited the branch, and Kalena tossed Manches away from them, before running after the others.

"It's tuh-hunga!" Nick said to Judy, correcting her, as Manches resumed the chase. "Whoa!" Judy said, as she slipped, dropping ehr radio, but Nick was able to save her from falling down even further.

"Okay, we're sending backup! Zaps? Zaps!" Munchauser said, as the radio fell all the way to the bottom, and smashed on the ground.

While running through the jungle, Judy noticed a cable cart station ahead of them. "There! Head for the sky trams!" Judy said to everyone, as Manches caught up to them and punched, landing in the middle of them and causing them to scatter, with Kipo and Kalena going back, Nick and Judy going forward, with Manches going after Judy.

Judy used a light pole to avoid Manches, but the rain made the cable cart station slippery, and she slid over the side. Lucky Kipo caught her, but Kipo also slipped off, but Kalena caught her, and thanks to digging her claws into the floor, making it so she didn't slip off the side like the others.

"Get in! Volt. Scales. Kitty. Volt! Scales! Kitty!" Nick said, as he reached the cable care and opened the door, but noticed everyone was gone. Then he noticed Kalena helping everyone form going off the edge.

"Go!" Judy said to Nick, as everyone noticed Manches getting ready to attack him. But he couldn't, him waiting caused the cart he was holding to leave him. "No, no, no!" Nick said, as he tried to get on but couldn't.

"Buddy. One Dark Type to another…" Nick said to Manches, but stopped talking when Manches lunged at him, long white glowing claws coming out of his front paws.

This caused Nick to flinch, but Manches stopped mid air and crashed on the floor. Nick unflinched and noticed Kalena holding Manches's tail, while Judy cuffed his leg.

"Now, I can tell you you're a little tense so I'm just gonna give you a little personal space! Ah!" Nick said to Manches, as he tried to move around him, but Manches tried to swipe Nick, causing Nick to crash into everyone, and while everyone went over, they grabbed Kalena's tail. But since Kalena wasn't grounded like was when she helped Kipo and Judy, Kalena went over as well. Lucky Kalena was able to grab a vine that was hanging off the side of the platform

"Scales, whatever you two do, do not let go!" Nick said to Kalena, as he looked down, Judy noticed some vines that could be a net. "Kalena, let go!" Judy said to Kalena.

"What?!" everyone asked Judy at the same time. That's when Kalena noticed the vines and understood what Judy was thinking. "On it. One, two…" Kalena said to everyone, as she swung to the vine, and let go. "No. I said, do not… Scales!" Nick said to Kalena at the same time Kalena swung and let go of the vine, before screaming.

They landed on the vine, and it held, meaning everyone was safe from Manches. "Scales. You saved my life." Nick said to Kalena. "Nah, this was all Judy's idea, she saved us." Kalena said to everyone. "Well. that's what we do at the PPD." Judy said to everyone.

"You know. Considering what just happened this is still better than getting chased by Manches." Kipo said to everyone, before the vines broke, and they fell down.

Luckily they caught a few more vines on the way down and it stopped them from hitting the payment.

Unluckily, all the vines caused them to be all tied up and upside down.

"Can this get any worse?" Kalena asked everyone, as a bunch of cops showed up. "I spoke too soon." Kalena said to everyone, as Judy was the only one happy to see the cops, and Chief Bofo came out of one of the cars.

"Well, this should be good." Chief Bofo said to everyone, with a disappointed look on his face.

"I thought this was just a missing Pokemon case but it's way bigger. Mr. Gumshooston did not just disappear. I believe he and this Liepard, they went savage, sir." Judy said to Chief Bofo leading everyone to the platform they just fell from.

"Savage? This isn't the Regirock Age. Zaps. Pokemon don't "go savage"." Chief Bofo said to Judy.

"Will all do respect, sir. That Liepard I faced had definitely gone savage, and I have the scratches to prove it." Kalena said to Bofo, showing him the scratches on her scales that she got from tussle with Manches.

"But if you want proof about a Pokemon going savage. Then take a look at this." Judy said to Chief Bofo, as they reached the platform, but Manches was gone. "What? He was right here." Judy said to Chief Bofo, as she looked around. "The "savage" Liepard?" Chief Bofo asked Judy, not believing her.

"Yeah. This is where we left him. And we've only been gone a couple minutes. He should still be here, or leave a sigh on him breaking the lap he was cuffed to." Kipo said to Chief Bofo, as She, Judy, and Kalena looked around the place. "You can't be serious?" Chief Bofo asked everyone.

Sir, I know what I saw, he almost killed us!" Judy said to Chief Bofo. "Or, maybe any aggressive Pokemon look savage to you Pachirisu." Chief Bofo said to Judy. "Let's go!" Chief Bofo said to the other cops, as he started to leave.

"Wait, sir. I'm not the only one who saw him." Judy said, running up to Chief Bofo, and looking him in the eyes. "Nick! Kalena! Kipo!" Judy said to them, whispering. "You think I'm gonna believe a Thievul and friends of yours." Chief Bofo

"Well, they are a key witness, and I…" Judy said to Chief Bofo, but was interrupted by Chief Bofo. "Two days to find the Gumshoos or you quit. That was the deal. Badge." Chief Bofo said, holding out a hoof for Judy's badge.

"But, sir, we…" Judy said to Chief Bofo, but was interrupted by Chief Bofo. "Badge!" Chief Bofo said to Judy, done with her.

Saying nothing, Judy slowly started to remove her badge, with a very sad look on her face. "Uh, no." Nick said, getting everyone's attention. "What did you say, Thievul?" Chief asked Nick, wondering if he heard that right.

"Sorry. What I said was, "no." she will not be giving you that badge." Nick said to Chief Bofo, annoying Chief Bofo. "Look, you gave her a clown vest and a three-wheeled joke-mobile and two days to solve a case you guys haven't cracked in two weeks?" Nick asked Chief Bofo, making Chief Bofo look away.

"Yeah. It's no wonder she needed to get help from Thievul, Kommo-o, and a Delcatty. None of you guys were gonna help her, were you?" Nick asked all the cops, making them all look away in guilt.

"Nicks right. You all act big and thought but in the past few hours she's figured out more of what happened to Emmitt Gumshooston then you all did in 2 weeks." Kalena said to everyone, making Chief Bofo talk, but Nick stopped him.

"Here's the thing, Chief. You gave her the 48 hours so, technically, we still have…" Nick said to Chief Bofo, before doing some quick math.

"10 left to find our Mr. Gumshooston and that is exactly what we're gonna do. So, if you'll excuse us, we have a very big lead to follow and a case to crack. Good day." Nick said to Chief Bofo, as he walked away.

Judy couldn't say anything and walked away. "Later Chief Bofo." Kipo said to Chief Bofo, as she followed Judy and Nick.

"And when we find Mr. Gumshooston, we expect an apology from you to Judy about all the mean stuff you thought and said to her." Kalena said to Chief Bofo, before going after everyone else.

"Ladies." Nick said to everyone, opening a cable cart for them. "Thank you Nick." Kalena said to Nick, as they all hopped into it, and left the cable cart to take high into the sky.
