Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry for the really slow updates on this story. I've been busy between life and work and I'm hoping you all will enjoy this chapter. I also apologize with the length of the chapter, I myself aren't used to writing this much in one chapter so please forgive me.
Please to the people who are asking for commission work to draw or make a comic, please I'm not interested. I don't have money and I'm only doing this for fun. Yes, everyone deserves to do what they enjoy but if you want to draw for fun, then go for it. I'm not going to stop you, but please stop asking. Thank you.
Chapter 2
John woke up before the sun came up to the sound of a train squealing past the window causing the entire room to shake and cause some of the rafters to rain down in the room but it seemed to miss him entirely even when one was right above his head. As he lay there staring at the ceiling hearing the room slowly began to settle back down his mind began to wonder about Lilly. He could see her eyes large and green. He remembered her flaming red hair, the paleness of her skin, she caught her eye when he first met her at that coffee shop. It was how red her hair was and he felt like she had placed him under a spell. Considering what Harry was telling him yesterday, he came to the conclusion she wasn't mischievous with him. She just came when he needed her the most.
He continued to lay there trying to decide whether he wanted to try and go to sleep, or if he should get up and see if this place had a breakfast menu with coffee. His stomach began to growl helping him with his decision. He was surprised to see that Harry, along with Sam and Dean weren't in their beds. There was a letter, a plain piece of notebook paper, on a nightstand. On it was the words, Out looking around be back soon. He recognized it was Sam's handwriting and felt better that he was alright. He did hope that Dean wasn't causing any danger as he cautiously sniffed his shirt and thought it best to wear a cleaner shirt.
"Housekeeping," came a tired woman's voice as she knocked a few times on his door.
John quickly threw on the shirt and opened the door. The woman was gangly and her hair was unkempt under her stained hat. The other thing that caught his attention was the broom that was making short quick sweeps right behind her. "Oh, I'm not ready for a cleaning." John said, still fascinated with the broom then back up at the witch.
"No worries. I'll try back later." The witch said turned and headed down another hallway knocking on doors as she went. John closed the door to his room as he stepped out into the hallway. He could hear voices coming from downstairs and he decided to go down and get something to eat and wait for his sons to return.
"Oh, Master Winchester, I do hope you slept well last night?" Tom said his toothless grin just as cheerful as the night before.
"Best sleep I had in years." John said being entirely truthful as the mattress seemed to just know where his back problems were and so had made sure to support them. "Thanks for getting us a room. I'll see about paying for it."
"Oh, no worries on that." Tom said, as a mug of steaming coffee slid in front of John while a sugar bowl and pitcher of milk followed afterwards. "Room and food have already been paid for. Now, what can I interest you for breakfast?"
"Uh, do you have a menu?" John asked looking around to see if he could spot anything. He did see several cloaked people in the corners and they had large plates in front of them.
"Unfortunately we don't but how 'bout I whip you something that will surely get your day going well."
"Thanks. Also have you seen my two older boys and Harry around?"
"I sure have, they came down a couple of hours ago. They're most likely just exploring Diagon Alley out back. Such a sight to see. You ought to go explore there yourself if you find the time."
"I think I'll do just that." John said picking up and was pleasantly surprised by how much flavor the black coffee tasted and finished the mug. "I hope my other boys aren't causing any trouble." He said and leaned back when Tom set down a plate of food, which consisted a small stack of toast with butter, large juicy sausages, a small pile of beans in a red sauce that smelt a bit spicy, he also had three large cooked eggs that, even though he wasn't a fan of runny eggs, the yolk looked good enough to endure. As he took his first bite he couldn't help but let out a moan of satisfaction when he tasted all of the flavors. "This is amazing." John said taking another bite and trying not to talk with his mouth full.
"I take it it's been a while since you had a home cooked meal." Tom asked and John nodded. "I take it. Oh looks like Mr. Potter and your sons have returned." Tom said making John turn and saw his three sons walk in each of them holding a few small boxes and were laughing quietly.
"Good morning, sir." Harry said walking up to John and tried not to seem he was hiding his slight discomfort. "How did you sleep?"
"I slept pretty well. Better then most times I sleep in hotels." John said feeling rather full with only half of his food consumed. "So you three have fun looking around the shops?"
"Yeah I showed them a couple of shops that I think they would find fascinating. So we stopped at the bank and I got them a few things." Harry rubbed he back of his head. "I hope you don't think I'm trying to rub it in. They mentioned how you struggled with them when they were growing up."
John felt his cheeks burn with embarrassment and Harry instantly began to flinch making John's embarrassment vanish. "What was that about?"
"Oh, sorry, the Dursley's always made me feel like if someone were to brag about something, mostly from my cousin Dudley, they'd blame me. It was rather annoying." He looked shocked when he saw John's face turn dark as he let a soft but noticeable growl. "I'm sorry, did I do something wrong?"
John looked surprised completely forgetting his anger from earlier. "Oh, no... I just... They didn't hurt you, did they?"
"They never struck me, no." Harry said then let out a sigh. "However they locked me in a broom closet, that was my room until I left for school the first time. They'd also refuse to give me meals."
"I'm so glad you never told me that when I saw you." John said happy to see another cup of coffee next to his half finished plate. "I would have done something I'm not sure I could forgive myself for."
Harry didn't need to hear anymore explanation, as he had a good idea what John meant. "Well, I'm going to put away my purchases I bought today and then go look at my new books for school." John nodded seeing that he had made Harry rather uncomfortable. "Maybe later I can give you the tour of Diagon Alley."
"I'd like that very much, thanks." John gave Harry a genuine smile and watched as his youngest son, someone he thought he'd never meet, run up the stairs leaving John and his two other sons alone. "So did you two enjoy yourselves?" John asked seeing as his two other boys began to act like young kids going over their own items.
"It was rather educational." Sam said pulling out a small thick book and began to flip through the pages. "Even Dean seemed to enjoy what we saw."
"Oh yeah," Dean said his eyes sparking with boyish glee as he pulled out two small rocks and set them gently on the counter next to his dad. "These might come in handy on hunts." He said as John carefully picked up a rock and examined it. "It's a smokescreen that all we need to do is smash it on the ground and it makes a smoke screen show up. Kind of like we're ninjas."
"Only you would bring up ninjas, Dean." Sam chuckled as Dean put the rocks back into his jacket pocket. "Also, Harry told us more about his parents. Well, Lilly's husband and herself. He said someone broke into their house and killed them. That it was another wizard by... what did he say it was?"
"Voldywart or something close." Dean said trying to remember. "Regardless, apparently whomever did kill them a lot of folks don't like saying it so they call him 'He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named'. But Harry is the only person to have survived an attack from this guy."
"Do you think he was Yellow eyes?" Sam asked as the thought must have crossed all three most likely.
"No, I don't believe so, all of them had been attacked on their six month birthday and Harry was a little over a year when he was attacked. I also did some research and the signs that happened near your sixth month, and the others never happened here."
"That's because Harry was attacked by his own kind." Came a voice besides them. All three turned and recognized the Trickster, someone they, thought, had killed a few months prior. "Hello you three. Did you miss me? Must have since I'm here." The Trickster laughed and almost by magic itself made a large banana sundae appear with sparklers and enough candy to cause a diabetic a one way ticket to the underworld. "But back to the point at hand, no Harry's family wasn't attacked by anything supernatural. Just superegotisical and I frankly feel I could have protected them better. For that I'm sorry."
John, Sam and Dean began to stare at the bar table letting what the Trickster was telling them, when the noise from the streets outside made them all look as a girl with frizzy brown hair bounced in followed by two older people who were dressed the same as John and his two boys. When he watched as the young girl lead the two older people to the side door that lead to the back alley, John concluded she was one of Harry's classmates and he began to wonder if he knew her.
"Dad, he's gone." Dean said bringing John back and made him realize that the stool besides them was empty and that even the massive sundae was gone as well. "I really hate that Trickster. We can't trust him."
"But I believe him." John said keeping his voice calm. He let out a sigh and stood up wanting to get out of the musty air and went to take a look at what was in Diagon Alley that made everyone so excited to see. But he felt embarrassed, as he stared at a large brick wall, and he didn't know what he was supposed to do. The girl from earlier wasn't there and so he figured she must have done something. He stood there trying to think of what do to when he watched as the wall began to shudder and soon a large opening appeared in front of him. He stood transfixed by the magical archway that he didn't realize that the same shaggy brown haired girl and her parents stood in front of him.
"Oh, hello." The girl said she held a large ginger cat that looked as though someone smashed it with a frying pan.
"Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to stand in your way." John said taking a step to the side allowing the small family to walk through the rather large opening. As soon as they stepped away he got a good look at the magical world of Diagon Alley. He took a step into the cobblestone alley and the rows of colorful shops that were truly magical.
"First time in Diagon Alley?" Said the older man, John guessed was the bushy haired girl's father. "I had the same look when I first came here two years ago."
"This is... wow." John said unable to think of what to say. "I can see why my three boys could find themselves going here."
"Oh, you have a student at Hogwarts too?" The bushy haired girl said her face lighting up. "Maybe I know them. Who are they?"
"Well, I only have one here. My other two boys and I live in America and we were asked to come here. But my son is Harry Potter."
The girl's mouth dropped open in shock as she stared at John trying to see the similarities of her best friend and the older man that stood in front of her, who had slowly moved down the streets looking at all the shops and most likely being awed by colors. "Mum, dad, could you take Crookshanks back to the Leaky cauldron? I'll be right back."
"Okay, Hermione." Her father said his voice slightly unsure about seeing his daughter going to be with a complete stranger. "You mum and I will be getting something to eat. Stay in the Alley."
"Will do." Hermione called over her shoulder right before she skipped to stay next to John's side. His slightly big frame slightly intimidated Hermione who kept staring at him as he stopped and stared at a large pet shop that she herself had just visited. "So... are you really Harry's father?"
John didn't seem surprised that Hermione was standing next to him, as she was just staring at him with amazement. "Yes, I am his father. I was never in his life, as my line of work would have put him and his mother, Lilly in real danger. I guess I couldn't save them with who ever took her away from me."
"But she had James... Did you know him?"
"Not personally." John said honestly looking down at the young girl that continued to stare at him. "But he did write me a letter to explain that he would love and take care of Lilly and raise Harry. He seemed like an amazing man that I'm happy that Lilly found someone to take care of her. I would've been a lousy husband... but even though she wasn't my wife... I lost another woman I loved."
"Another?" Hermione asked her voice full of curiosity.
"My late wife was taken from me when my boys were really young. I thought I'd never find anyone to love again... that's when I met Lilly. She was in America on a vacation, or she called it a Holiday, she lit something in me that I thought was long gone. She was sweet to my boys and wasn't trying to be their mother but sometimes they did call her mom. I did think about marrying her, but my job would have put her in danger. I wasn't going to do that to her. Then she told me she was pregnant and I had her go back here, for her protection. She did somehow let me know about Harry and I was happy she found someone." John went quiet as he was lost in his past thoughts. "But why are you following me? Shouldn't you be with your parents?"
"They trust me here, Mister...?" Hermione gently pressed.
"John Winchester." John said feeling like he could trust this young child. "And you?"
"I'm Hermione Granger." She said matter of fact, like it was one day going to be of great importance. "I'm good friends with Harry. He and I are in the same house at school."
"House?" John asked and soon was surprised to see how Hermione's eyes began to glow with excitement as she gripped her hand and smiled. "Are you okay?" He asked.
"I sure am, Mr. Winchester. I get to teach someone about Hogwarts." She grabbed his hand and began to pull him towards a tall white marbled building at the end of the long cobble streets. "This is Gringotts Bank! We get our money here, obviously."
"Speaking of money, it's rather... interesting."
"It only took me one day to get use to them." Hermione said with a proud smile. "But on with the tour." She absently grabbed hold of John's hand and lead him to a small group of small shops, some of them expelled sweet smelling smells that made John's stomach start to growl even though he just had a large breakfast not that long ago. He continued to walk down the streets he caught a glimpse of a large black dog inside a narrow alley between a couple of shops. Nobody else seemed to notice the animal and John stopped and looked at it. Something about seeing the animal made him heart broken as it looked as though it hadn't had a decent meal in several days. "Are you okay Mr. Winchester?" Hermione asked seeing as she watched the man glance over at the small ice cream parlor and then back at the black dog.
"I just see a stray dog." John said and noticed some buns in the oven of the parlor. "Do you have... he noticed the sign and looked over at Hermione. "What is 3 ks?"
"Oh that's Knuts." Hermione said searching her pocket and pulled out three tiny brown coins. "Here." She handed him the money and smiled. "Don't worry about paying it back. Knuts are always easy to come by." She smiled again and watched as John walked into the shop.
The parlor was brightly lit as John carefully strolled to the small counter where a kind looking older woman stood. Her pointy hat was decorated with tiny ice cream scoops that seemed to be melting but soon it seemed to be magically being frozen to be perfect scoops once again. "Can I help you sir?" The woman asked her voice was light seemed it was just like the ice creams just simply magic.
"I saw one of those buns in the window... may I purchase one please?"
"Of course sir, 3 Knuts please." When John handed her the tiny brown coins. With a wave of her wand one large bun that was in a basket behind her flew and landed inside a tiny brown bag. "Have a great day sir."
John gave the witch a friendly smile before walking out the bun still warm in his hands in the bag. He saw that Hermione was trying to pet the dog who sunk lower into the shadows teeth barring slightly as she continued to try and pet the animal. "Hey stay back. He looks like he doesn't want to deal with strangers trying to pet him." He slowly pulled out the bun and ripped a small piece of it and gently held it out towards the animal. "Here." He said his voice soft. He thought back to when his kids were young boys and they tried to keep a stray dog with them in one of the many hotels he had to raise them in. "It's okay, Buddy." He said and the smiled when the dog slowly emerged from the shadows and gently took the bun part gently out of his fingers and quickly finished the tiny morsel. "Seems that hit the spot." John said ripping off a bigger piece and held it out. The dog sniffed it once before taking that part, its tail beginning to wag with happiness as he continued to finish the bun John had bought. "Well, I think I should head back to the hotel. My boys will most likely be worried as to where I went."
As he stood up his body ached but the dog rushed over and began to sniff his hand as if expecting more food. "Sorry there, bud." John said giving a slight scratch behind the dog's ears making the tail wag harder and one of the back paws began to twitch. "Must be hard living on the streets huh? Can't say I don't know how that feels like. But I can't take care of an animal. But who knows you may get lucky and find a place." He scratched behind the dog's ears once again and then straightened up and headed towards the archway towards the Lucky Cauldron and walked through the back door.
~DSCWIN~
John found his three boys back in the room, where Sam and Dean were sitting on the edge of one of the beds while Harry worked on looking over the books he had gotten from the Minister. He had just noticed that Harry was only wearing one shoe while Dean looked as though he had a run in with an angry animal as his hands looked scratched.
"What happened with you two?" He asked towards Harry and Dean. He watched as his oldest shuddered almost embarrassed to what must have happened to him.
"It's one of my books." Harry said looking ashamed holding up a book that John, had to make sure he wasn't going insane, could hear growling and whimpering slightly with a shoe stuck in between the two covers.
"The Monster Book of Monsters." John read and nearly jumped in surprise as four yellow eyes slowly pushed up from the middle of the covers and Harry reached to his waist and quickly unlooped his belt to tie it tightly around it. "Why-?"
"Thing is evil." Dean said as both older boys drew up their legs when the eyes began to appear but once Harry had tied his belt around the covers slowly set their legs back down. "Thing comes alive. It attacked our feet and...as you can tell got my hand."
"Kind of reminds me of a spider mixed with a Hyena." John said pointing to the spine of the book. "I wonder if it feels like Hyena fur."
"You have experience with a Hyena?" Harry asked looking at the spine then back at John.
"We did a case at a zoo, once." Sam said making both of the boys shudder. "What was it again?"
"A ghoul." John answered. "I heard that the Hyena's were just fine after they devoured it after we killed it."
"You killed a ghoul? How?" Harry asked making all three surprised that he knew what he was talking about. "What?"
"How do you know about ghouls?" John asked. "Are you a hunter too?"
"No, we have those around school. Our professors makes sure they don't come and harm any of us kids. Also one of my friends has a ghoul living in the attic near his room. He doesn't like it much. But his mom makes sure that the ghoul doesn't bother him and also there's a spell on the door, she puts on everyday and night so it can't leave." Harry then looked back at all three. "How do you know about ghouls?"
John cleared his throat as he felt a little uncomfortable. But thought it was fair as yesterday they didn't get a chance to get to know each other better. "That's for another day." He said after thinking about it for a few minutes. "So I think I met one of your classmates today. Hermione..."
"Hermione's here?!" Harry asked his voice clearly high with surprise. "Yeah she's one of my friends. I wonder if she's staying here until term starts. Can I go and see if I can find her?"
"I don't see why not. She seems like a nice person. She's very informative about everything."
"Yeah, she loves to read books. She's very smart." Harry said. "She kind of reminds me of you, Sam. She's just as smart." He pulled out his shoe and set it on the bed's edge and then sighed. "I'm wondering if you'd all just cover your eyes for a few seconds I need to do something." He watched as they all reluctantly covered their eyes seeming unsure why they had to do that. He quickly pulled out his wand and pointed at his shoe. He had remembered this spell well as he had to fix his glasses during the summer when the Dursley's left him home alone and he had drawn the blinds. "Repairo." He said and smiled when his shoe was quickly fixed and looked as though nothing had happened to it. "You can look now." He said and quickly slid on his other shoe over his foot.
"Did you just repair your shoe?" Sam asked as though he had de-aged back into a young child instead of being the nearly twenty-four year old man that he was. "Can you fix anything?"
"Most everything. But if I break my wand, I can't. My friend Ron, broke his wand last year and he tried to fix it but couldn't. Saved us when a professor tried to use a forgetful spell on us, only for it to backfire on him and he now has no memory of who he is."
"Wizards are dicks." Dean spat getting a glare from his father and brother. "What?" He asked.
"So how is your school safe, if you had a professor who tried to mind wipe you?" John asked thinking he wouldn't stand it if something similar happened to his two older sons. He also wondered what would have happened if he did indeed help Lilly raise Harry together if any of this would have happened.
"I don't know the answer to that, sir." Harry said. "But I think the headmaster would sit down to let you know everything and to make sure nothing like that happens again."
John felt unsure and before he could say anything they heard the unmistakable yowl of an angry cat and the high pitched squeak of a rat caught their attention. All four men all raced out to catch the tail of a fluffy orange cat rounding a corner. John, followed by his three sons, headed for the stairs when they heard a young man starting to yell.
"I mean it Hermione," the voice screamed in severe anger. If you don't keep control over that bloody thing under control I'll turn it into a tea cozy."
"Crookshanks is a cat, Ron." Came the familiar sound of Hermione holding onto the fluffy cat close to her. "It's in his nature to chase and eat rodents."
Harry, upon hearing his two friend's voices pushed his way past John and stood within sight if his friends.
"Harry!" Hermione said her scowl was replaced by a genuine smile while the boy, Ron a tall lanky redhead with freckles, smiled warmly seeing his best friend there too.
Harry smiled at the two of them and raced to give them each a hug happy to see them all. "Ron, Hermione, I am so excited to see that you're here. Meet my bio father and my two older half brothers." Harry said. He was surprised that Hermione didn't seem as surprised as Ron was when they awkwardly shook hands with John, Dean and Sam. Ron however seemed extremely surprised.
"Wait." Ron asked holding a gray balding rat away from the cat while scrutinizing the Winchesters. "I thought your father was James Potter."
"He may have been there to raise me," Harry said calmly knowing that this was indeed shocking news for everyone. "And I may have Potter as my sir name, but this is my father John. He saved me from the Dursleys. So if that is not a father, then what does that make him?"
"Fair point." Ron said with a nonchalant shrug. "Hey come on down in the diner. Mum and Dad want to say hi." It wasn't until they were nearing the main dining room. "Oh, Dad won a competition at work! 10,000 Galleons. He took all of us, Even my two oldest brothers, to Egypt! We just got back late last night and spent this morning buying me a new wand."
"Really?" Harry said excited sparking in his eyes. "No wonder I couldn't get a note to you. Have you been at home at all?"
"No, but did get your mail. We had a family friend send us all of our mail to us who knew where we were. I figured I was going to see you here, so I didn't really think about. But I did buy you a birthday gift. Let me go grab it from my room and I'll be back. Oh I also want to show you the daily profit that displays us all on the front page in Egypt!"
When Ron left John looked over at Harry and gave a supportive smile. "You have, good friends." John said now feeling rather upset that he told him he was his father, and the possibility of taking him made a major pit grow in his stomach. "You truly care for them."
"I sure do, sir." Harry said with a smile and tried his hardest not to blush at Hermione. "They've become my family. Even Ron's parents treat me like one of there's. In fact, I hope Mrs. Weasley likes you. She's rather protective. But I'm sure Mr. Weasley would just want to know everything about you three. He's very fascinated with Muggles."
"Muggles? Is that what he calls, Americans?" Dean asked even though all three were rather confused.
"No, that's what we call people who are 'non' magical folks. But they are very nice people. I'm also quite certain that they would love you after what you did to help me with the Dursleys."
"Well, I'm looking forward in meeting the parents of my son's friends." John said before looking over at Hermione. "I'd like to meet your parents too."
"Unfortunately they had to go back to their dentist shop. They wished they could stay but they just had a surplus of clients." Hermione said with a calm smile. "They did wish to meet you as well. They said you were interesting and they were happy to know that there was another set of muggles they can talk to without feeling overwhelmed by all the magic. Which they support fully."
"Well, it's good to have supportive parents." John said looking over at his two sons who were now trying to not attack two tall lanky boys with flaming red hair and were twins. Enough to cause John to feel he was just seeing doubles. He had to fight off a laugh when both of the twin boys grabbed hold of Dean's and Sam's hands to drag them out to the pub area. "Well, I think we should save your brothers from those twins."
"Yeah, Fred and George are Ron's older brothers. They are just a lot of fun as they pull a lot of pranks."
"Then they'll be fine." John said remembering his own older son's prank wars growing up. "I think they would be just fine."
When the last three entered the pub they saw a crowd of red hair and John counted three children with flaming hair while the two older adults sharing the same color seemed to crowd over Dean and Sam who seemed happy yet uncomfortable with all the sudden crowd. Harry left John's side and rushed over to the older woman who threw her arms around his neck and held her close like a mother did and asked Harry a few questions before John watched as Harry introduced Sam and Dean. The older man, spotted John and walked up a genuine smile on his lips as he outstretched his hands and took John's. John was amazed by the strength the man had.
"My boys, Fred and George, told us that you are Harry's biological father. Is that true?" The man said, John assumed was Mr. Weasley, someone that Harry had quickly pointed out.
"Yes I am." John said feeling a pain of guilt deep in his stomach for not being there for his son growing up. "I met his mother, Lilly when she went to America for a trip, or holiday as you call it. My job isn't the safest and I thought she would do best to go back to England and find someone who would take care of her. Much good that was."
"Well, Lilly was happy with James." Mr. Weasley said with a respectful smile. "James loved Harry when she had him. They both did. I have to say both of them were honorable to take care of Harry and treat him like a son. I only wish Harry had a better childhood. He lost so much at such a young age that it didn't seem fair. Not to mention those people who took him in."
"Yeah. The Dursleys. I met them briefly before we came here. I had to get Harry out of that situation." John sighed and rubbed the back of his head when he watched as the woman, Mrs. Weasley, seemed to warm up to Sam and Dean which made John smile. "Seems that your wife has taken a liking to my boys."
"Yes, she can tell they are good men. You raised them really well."
"I don't deserve that." John said with a shameful look. "Ever since I lost my wife, when my boys were young, I wasn't in my right mind. I did somethings that would make me into a heartless monster."
"I'm sorry about hearing about your wife." Mr. Weasley said his face empathetic look. "You struggled. Every parent struggles." He slapped his shoulder and cleared his throat, a clear sign that he wanted to change the subject. "Now, I got a letter from Dumbledore telling me to give you and your two son's your job requirements. Don't worry, he does plan on paying you for your services. He also wanted to make sure you were near your son, to get better acquainted. He has had a lot of turmoil and it's refreshing to see someone who truly cares."
"Well, I struggled with my two boys when they were younger. But when I heard about Harry's condition I had to do something. John Winchester by the way." John said smiling.
"Arthur Weasley. It's so great to meet you. I hope we get to see more of you and your two other boys. I can see that Molly has taken a big liking to them."
John smiled and saw how genuinely happy his two older boys were seeing how everyone of the Weasley's were sitting around them laughing and telling him stories. "So what does this Dumbledore do? He never told me specifics."
Arthur's face kept calm but John could see that same fear in people's eyes when something dark was stirring. "I know you're a protective father. If I told you now, I don't think your son will be like a child."
"Fair enough. I already ruined two of my children's life. I'm sure they wouldn't want this happen to a third." John said and cleared his throat. "I'm looking forward to this."
"It will be just fine." Arthur said slapping John's shoulder in a friendly manner. "Do you mind if I talk to Harry for a few?"
"Yeah...go ahead." John said and silently watched as Arthur Weasley gently wrapped a hand around Harry's shoulder and lead him to a pillar just a few feet away. John, as if he was on a case slowly moved to the other side and leaned against it keep his ears trained on the voices behind him, something he picked up in the Marines. "Harry, did the Minister of Magic tell you anything about why you were told to come here."
"Did it have to do with Sirius Black?" Harry asked his voice steady no sign of fear which broke John. He recognized that as he saw it in Dean and Sam.
"Yes. Turns out he escaped Azkaban and is still at large. Sources say that he's looking for you. You will be in danger so, don't do anything you normally wanted to do. Ron has told us stories. Also I ask that you don't go looking for Sirius. He's a dangerous man."
"Sir, with all due respect," Harry said keeping his voice calm which scared John hearing this thirteen year old boy talking to an adult. "Why would I go looking for someone who is wanting to kill me?"
"That is true. I'm sorry for acting foolish. You're a smart boy, Harry. I'm still quite surprise of who your father is. No offense to John, he seems like a good man."
"I think so too. I'll be excited to get to know him plus my two older brothers." Harry said. "Oh I think Ron wants to show me the Daily profit about your trip to Egypt. He seems really excited."
"Yes we all had a great time. Come, let's go." Arthur said walking towards the long table, not seeing John, with is arms folded across his chest.
John watched as Harry sat down next to his friends as Ron began to tell Harry about his vacation to Egypt. He watched as Dean slowly walked up and stood just behind his father so that he could talk without anyone else could hear.
"What are you thinking about, dad?" He asked as he recognized the look his father was giving. The look he had to focus on a case.
"We have work to do." John said his voice even. "Turns out someone is after Harry. Someone dangerous."
"What does he look like?" Dean said his voice dark and protective.
"Apparently he's the gentleman in the wanted photos on the wall." John said glancing over and seeing the photos and had to do a double take as he saw them move. The picture was moving as the man was silently screaming. "What's the plan?"
"Well, if Harry isn't allowed to go looking for him." Dean said keeping his voice level. "Then we'll go and search for this guy ourselves. I'm not going to loose another one of my family."
"That's my boy." John said happy to see that Dean had warmed up to Harry quickly. "Come on, we're missing the story." John said and slowly walked up and stood there as if he was there the whole time as Ron continued to talk about the vacation.
