Episode 379: Pokémon Stadium Cup: Final Eight
Another week has passed since Dr. Yung's attempt at revenge has been foiled. It was now the day of the Pokémon Stadium Cup finals. The final eight competitors sat in a locker room, looking at each other.
"Who would have thought it'll come down to this, huh?" Trace asked.
"How often are you going to keep asking that, Trace?" Elaine asked.
"Yeah, you've been repeating it like a Chatot in a chorus line," Chase said.
"Leave him alone, you two. He's just excited since it's the finals today. Can any of you blame him?" Sora asked.
I know how you feel, Trace. I feel the same way, too. There's gonna be a lot of people out there," Michael said.
"It feels like the Hoenn Pokémon League all over again. Maybe that's why I'm feeling this way," Brendan said.
"We battle hard to make it this far, even if it's against each other. But not one of gave up. Take me for example. I was up against Nascour and Evice in the Realgam Tower's Colosseum, but I managed to defeat them both even though they both had me in the corner," Wes said.
"Greevil was the same way when I battled him," Michael said.
"We've all been in situations with the odds against us, but we only beat those odds because we didn't give up at all," Roxas said.
"I agree with Roxas. The odds were against us before, and we still made it out on top. So, how about the eight of us go out there and give it everything we got," Sora said.
"I like that plan," Wes said.
"Me too," Brendan said.
In the stadium's battlefield, Kairi, Karen, Ventus, Terra, Aqua, Riku, Namine, Xion, Ash, Leaf, Ethan, Kris, Lyra, May, Rui, Reyuko, Rei, Angel, Eevee, Azurill, Blossom, Sparky, Thor, Eclair, and Marill are sitting in one section, while Tai, Davis, and their DigiDestined team sat in another section. Takato and his team sat in another. Takuya and his team sat in another area as did Yugi and his friends are in another area. Vincent, Silver, Wally, Drew, Harley, Solidad, Tyson, Harrison, and Katie sat in different places. George Worthington III has arrived to begin the finals. He grabs his microphone and he speaks into it.
"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls of all ages, and Pokémon of all types, it pleases me to see all of you here to be a part of history in the making! Part 1 of the grand finale of this glorious Pokémon Stadium Cup!" The crowd began to roar. "I'm glad to see you all worked up, but let's settle down a notch. I know I already explained the rules once, but a refresher never hurt anyone. As you know, there are eight remaining Pokémon Trainers of our fabulous tournament, but there can only be one winner! Like the finals of the Pokémon League tournaments of several regions, the finals will be a series of full six-on-six battles! There are no time limits and the battles are over when all six of either Trainer's Pokémon are unable to continue battling! Also, substitutions are permitted! Now that we have the boring details out of the way, let us meet our lucky eight warriors who have made it this far!" The crowd cheered again. "Finalist number 1! He came from the land of the Orre region! He recently foiled the evil exploits of the dreaded Team Shadow and the sinister Shadow Pokémon that once again plagued our world after five years! Let's give a heroic welcome to Michael!" The crowd cheered as Michael walked in. "Finalist number 2! This young Trainer scratched and crawled his way to get here! This scamp made it against all impossible odds! Give a big hand to Trace from Pallet Town!" The crowd cheered as Trace walked in and waved. "Finalist number 3! He has an unknown past, but he is here today to make his name known! Nobody knows where he really comes from or who he was before, but let's give a warm welcome for the mysterious Roxas of Pallet Town!" The crowd cheered as Roxas came to the battlefield and waved nervously. "Finalist number 4! He is another gladiator from the Orre region! He is the one who foiled the first evil Shadow Pokémon scheme in an attempt to conquer the world! Here is the broody Wes!" Wes walked in as the crowd cheered hard. "Finalist number 5! This young warrior came from the Hoenn region, and he came in second of the Hoenn Pokémon League and he is here to see how far he'll be going! Meet Brendan from Littleroot Town!" The crowd cheered as Brendan walked in. "Finalist Number 6! He also fought his way to make it this far! He's a true underdog of Trainers! Let's give a big hand to Chase from Pallet Town!" The crowd cheered hard when he and Volt walked in. "Finalist number 7! Another underdog comes from Pallet Town! Meet Elaine!" Elaine and Maple walked in as the crowd cheered. "And now, last and certainly not least! This young Trainer is known throughout the land of Kanto, not only as the Champion of the Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn Pokémon Leagues, but the one Trainer who has put an end to the Team Rocket criminal empire, saving Pokémon everywhere! You know him! You love him! And you came all this way to see him! Let's give a big hand to Kanto's national hero, and the Champion Pokémon League Sora Ketchum!" The crowd cheered hard as Sora and Pikachu entered the battlefield and stood with the others. "Now that the eight finalists have all arrived right here in the stadium here in Fennel Castle, the arrangements can now be made, so here they all are!" It shows that Chase and Trace will be the first battle. Wes and Michael will be battling second. Roxas and Brendan will be third, while Sora and Elaine will be fourth. "The battles have been decided, but before we get to that, let me spell out how they will come out if I am repeating myself, but reminding everyone how it'll go down! Each Trainer will be using six Pokémon each and the battles are over when all six of either Trainer's Pokémon are rendered unable to battle! And there are no time limits! Now that we have that out of the way, let's begin the finals, shall we? So, won't our first competitors please come on down?!" The crowd cheered as Chase and Trace entered the battlefield at the same time. "I will not be asking too much from you, except for one thing! Make it as entertaining as you can, and have fun with it yourselves! Take it away, Mr. Referee!" With that said, the referee stepped out to begin the battle.
"Trainers! Choose your first Pokémon and begin!" The referee called out as Chase and Trace each took out a Pokéball. They threw their Pokéballs.
"Kabutops! Go!" Chase called out.
"Pidgeot! Take to the air!" Trace called out.
Both Kabutops and Pidgeot came out at once, ready to battle.
"It looks like Chase made the right call sending Kabutops out since it's a Rock-type," Lyra said.
"Marill," Marill said.
"It'll cost Trace at the get-go, but we shouldn't be quick to underestimate him," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Kabutops! Use Rock Slide!" Chase ordered. Kabutops unleashed rocks to send at the Bird Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Twister!" Trace ordered. Pidgeot avoids Kabutops's Rock Slide and sends Twister at Kabutos, sending the Shellfish Pokémon flying.
"Kabutops! Ice Beam!" Chase ordered. Kabutops fired Ice Beam, hitting Pidgeot on the mark. He chuckled. "That's what I like about Water-type Pokémon. They can use Ice-type attacks."
"Look at that. He taught his Kabutops to use Ice Beam," Kris said.
"It's a known fact that Flying-types are weak against Ice-type moves. Pidgeot won't last long if it stays out there for long," Ethan said.
"Man, his Kabutops knows Ice Beam, but I'll have to switch Pokémon to call it safe," Trace said, calling Pidgeot back. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Vilplume! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Vileplume came out to battle. "Sleep Powder!" Vileplume sprinkled Sleep Powder, making Kabutops fall asleep. "Solar Beam!" Chase knew it takes time for Vileplume to charge up Solar Beam, so he quickly called back Kabutops and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Ninetales! Let's go!" Chase called out. Ninetales emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Okay, Ninetales! Flamethrower!" Ninetales fired Flamethrower, hitting Vileplime.
"Nice save with Ninetales. Fire-types have the edge over Grass-types," May said.
"Shoot! Thought I could finish Kabutops off with Solar Beam, but there's no choice! Fire the Solar Beam!" Trace ordered. Vileplume fired Solar Beam, cutting through Flamethrower and hitting the Fox Pokémon on the mark. "Use Sludge Bomb!" Vileplume spat out Sludge Bomb and sends it right at Ninetales.
"Use Agility to dodge it, Ninetales!" Chase ordered. Ninetales dodges Vileplume's Sludge Bomb with Agility. "Use Shadow Ball!" Ninetales fired Shadow Ball, hitting Vileplume on the mark. "Flamethrower!" Ninetales fired Flamethrower and engulfed Vileplume in the flames, resulting in a knockout.
"Vileplume is unable to battle! Ninetales wins!" The referee announced.
"And Vileplume is the first to go down," Xion said.
"Eevee," Celeste said.
"It's not over yet," Leaf said.
"How was that?" Chase asked.
"Okay, that was cool. But I have a little something to use against your Ninetales," Trace said, calling back his Vileplume and took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Marowak! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Marowak came out to battle. Knowing Ninetales was at a disadvantage against Marowak, he called Ninetales back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"You're going in now, Exeggutor!" Chase called out. An Alolan Exeggutor emerged from inside.
Yes, he has an Alolan Exeggutor. To those of you who are wondering how he came across such a Pokémon, I'll shed some light on the matter. Chase has caught an Exeggcute and had it evolve into an Exeggutor upon evolving, so an eccentric Trainer who is seeking for Pokémon with various regional traits requested that Chase trade his newly evolved Exeggutor for one of his Alolan Exeggutor. Unwilling to part with his newly evolved Pokémon, he talked the Trainer in catching a wild Exeggutor instead of trading, and he accepted. It took a couple of hours, but they eventually came across a group of Exeggutor, bunched together like forest of palm trees. After carefully picking which one would be appropriate for the trade, Chase had Volt battle against the wild Exeggutor and weaken it for him to catch it. Once the capture was completed, he made the trade with the Trainer, and therefore, Chase has obtained an Alolan Exeggutor along with a Kantonian Exeggutor. Back to the story already in progress.
"Well, that's unexpected," Rui said.
"That's an Exeggutor?" Ryuko asked.
"Yeah. There are certain regions that a Pokemon has a different appearance depending on where they live," Terra said.
"And that's an Alolan Exeggutor. The Exeggutor here are Grass and Psychic-types, while the Alolan Exeggutor are Grass and Dragon-tpes," Aqua said.
"Pikachu," Thor siad.
"Pika," Eclair.
"Not only that, but that Exeggutor has the advantage of being a Grass-type and Marowak's a Ground-type," Rei said.
Trace was at awe over what he saw with his own eyes.
"Cool! An Alolan Exeggutor," Trace said.
"Yeah, and here's what a Kanto region's Exeggutor can't do! Dragon Hammer!" Chase ordered. Exeggutor swings its heads down and nails Marowak like a hammer hitting a nail.
"Don't take that laying down! Marowak! Fire Punch!" Trace ordered. Marowak heads for Exeggutor to land a Fire Punch.
"Exeggutor! Egg Bomb!" Chase ordered. Exeggutor unleashed an Egg Bomb sends it at the Bone Keeper Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Bone Rush!" Trace ordered. Marowak dodged Exeggutor's Egg Bomb and came at Exeggutor.
"Breaking Swipe!" Chase ordered. Exeggutor swings its tail and knocked Marowak back. "Leaf Storm!" Exeggutor unleashed a Leaf Storm, engulfing Marowak in it, resulting in a knockout.
"Marowak is unable to battle! Exeggutor wins!" The referee announced. Trace called back his Marowak and he smiled.
"You were awesome, Marowak. Rest up," Trace said. He took out Pidgeot's Pokéball and threw it. "Pidgeot, you're going back out to battle. Pidgeot returned to battle. "Aerial Ace!" Pidgeot dashed at Exeggutor, landing a hit. "And here's another move that Alolan Exeggutor are weak against! Twister!" Pidgeot unleashed Twister, dealing some heavy damage, due to its weakness to Dragon-type moves. "Wrap it up with Air Slash!" Pidgeot unleashed an Air Slash, hitting Exeggutor, resulting in a knockout.
"Exeggutor is unable to battle! Pidgeot wins!" The referee announced. Chase called back Exeggutor and he smiled.
"Trace finally took down one of Chase's Pokémon," Karen said.
"Pikachu," Blossom said.
"Thanks to that combo from Twister which is a Dragon-type move and Air Slash is the cherry on top," Kairi said.
"Eevee," said.
"Get some rest, Exeggutor. You earned it," Chase said. He laughed.
"That was awesome, Trace. You finally took down one of my Pokémon," Chase said.
"I just took advantage of the weakness of the Pokémon," Trace said.
"Yeah, and you did a great job at it," Chase said, thinking. "Pidgeot is an awesome Pokémon, but I think I have a Pokémon that's also an awesome flyer." Chase said, taking out his next Pokéball and threw it. "Aerodactyl! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Aerodactyl flew around. "Ancient Power!" Aerodactyl unleashed crystallized rocks and sends it right at Pidgeot.
"Pidgeot! Aerial Ace!" Trace ordered. Pidgeot flew right at Aerodactyl.
"Hyper Beam!" Chase ordered. Aerodactyl fired Hyper Beam, hitting Pidgeot. The Bird Pokémon has taken a lot of damage and resulted in a knockout.
"Pidgeot is unable to battle! Aerodactyl wins!" The referee announced.
"It looks like Chase just derailed Trace's comeback," Naminé said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"For now. Since Aerodactyl used Hyper Beam, it won't be able to attack again right away," Riku said.
"And Trace will take advantage of Aerodactyl's inability to attak," Ventus said.
"That's exactly right. Trace has done his homework," Ash said.
"Let's see if it pays off," Rei said.
Trace calls back Pidgeot and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Slowbro! Go!" Trace called out. His Pokéball opened and his Slowbro emerged from inside. "Water Pulse!" Slowbro unleashed a Water Pulse right at the pterodactyl-like Pokémon.
"Try to dodge it!" Chase called out. Aerodactyl flew to avoid Slowbro's Water Pulse. "Use Thunder Fang!" Aerodactyl flew right at Slowbro with a Thunder Fang. Aerodactyl lands an electrifying bite. "Hyper Beam!"
"Light Screen!" Trace ordered. Aerodactyl creates a golden wall, blocking Aerodactyl's attack.
"Wow, Light Screen. That one cuts the power of special moves, doesn't it?" Ventus asked.
"It does. Light Screen was able to block that Hyper Beam without a problem," Karen said.
"Trace is actually doing great in this battle," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Surf!" Slowbro summoned a tidal wave and brought it down on Aerodactyl, knocking it out.
"Aerodactyl is unable to battle! Slowbro wins!" The referee announced.
"Another Pokémon Chase lost to Trace. That leaves four more left to use," May said.
"Yeah, but Chase looks like he could turn it around," Ash said. Chase called back his Aerodactyl and took a look at Volt.
"Okay, Volt, you're going in," Chase said.
"Pikachu," Volt said. Volt stepped in to battle
"This works out for Volt," Ventus said.
"Don't forget because Light Screen is still in effect," Riku said.
"That isn't going to stop Chase," Xion said.
"He's sending out Volt. Man, this is bad. Marowak is the only Pokémon on my team that's strong against Electric-type attacks, and Chase took Marowak down with his Exeggutor. But it's a good thing Light Screen's in play because special attacks is weakened as long as Light Screen is up," Trace said in his thoughts.
"Okay, Volt! Use Pika Papow!" Chase ordered. Volt unleashed Pika Papow and lands a hit onto Slowbro. "That was awesome!"
"You okay, Slowbro?" Trace asked.
"Slow," Sowbro said.
"Better rest up," Trace said, called back Slowbro and he took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Jolteon, you're up!" His Pokéball opened and Jolteon came out to battle.
"It's good that Trace is making a switch, because it doesn't look like Slowbro was gonna last any longer out there," Leaf said.
"And it's gonna make it harder for Chase since Trace's Jolteon has that Volt Absorb as an ability," Kairi said.
"That's true. With Volt Absorb, Jolteon would absorb Volt's electricity and use it to recover from its injuries," Terra said.
"Okay, Volt, come on back!" Chase said as Volt returned to Chase's side as he took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Let's go, Sandslash!" His Pokéball opened to reveal a Sandslash.
"Chase had a Ground-type Pokémon ready for Jolteon," Aqua said.
"Okay, Sandslash! Use Brick Break!" Chase ordered. Sandslash came at Jolteon and breaks through Slowbro's Light Screen like glass. Sandslash lands a hit onto Jolteon.
"That's a decent hit," Kairi said.
"It was clever of having his Sandslash learn to use Brick Break like that," Naminé said.
"Not only that, Trace knows Jolteon's Electric-type attacks won't affect Sandslash at all," Ventus said.
"Man, this battle is proving even harder than I thought it would be. Vileplume is down, so Slowbro is the only one who can beat Sandslash," Trace said. He took out Slowbro's Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Slowbro! You're going back out to battle!" His Pokéball opened and Slowbro is sent back out, exhausted from battling Volt. "Water Pulse!"
"Sandslash! Dodge it and use your Slash!" Chase ordered. Sandslash dodges Slowbro's Water Pulse and lands a Slash against the Hermit Crab Pokémon, resulting in a knockout.
"Slowbro is unable to battle! Sandslash wins!" The referee announced.
"Great job, Sandslash!" Chase called out. Trace called back Slowbro.
"I'm sorry, Slowbro. It's my own fault. I thought you could beat Sandslash. But I won't let your hard work go to waste," Chase said. He took out another Pokéball. "I got two more Pokémon left to use. Can't use Jolteon against Sandslash, but I think I can turn it around pretty fast." He threw it. "Rapidash! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Rapidash whinnies upon entry.
"Well, Rapidash makes six. Both Vileplume and Slowbro are down, and they would have an edge over Sandslash," May said.
"That's true. Trace's choices have become very limited," Riku said.
"Okay, Sandslash! Use Drill Run!" Chase ordered. Sandslash ran towards the Fire Horse Pokémon with its claws out in front, creating some energy, taking the shape of a drill.
"Rapidash! Dodge and use Flame Charge!" Trace ordered. Rapidash avoids Sandslash's attack and rammed into Sandslash, building up speed.
"Fury Swipes!" Chase ordered. Sandslash came at Rapidash again.
"Flame Charge again!" Trave ordered. Rapidash gave Sandslash another hit with Flame Charge, increasing its speed a second time.
"I see what Trace is doing," Ash said.
"What's he doing?" Ryuko asked.
"Trace has his Rapidash use Flame Charge twice in a row because it increases the user's speed each time it's used," Ash said.
"Trace is really using his head out there. I'm impressed," Leaf said.
"Okay, Rapidash! Use Solar Beam!" Rapidash began to build up solar energy.
"Rapidash is building up energy, so I better make my next attack count! Drill Run!" Chase ordered. Sandslash rushes at Rapidash with a Drill Run. Rapidash had built up enough energy and fired Solar Beam, hitting Sandslash, resulting in a knockout.
"Sandslash is unable to battle! Rapidash wins!" The referee announced.
"Wow. Trace keeps on amazing us. He taught Solar Beam to Rapidash to counter Water, Rock, and Ground-type Pokémon," Karen said.
"A good way to cover a weakness," Rei said.
"Not only did that, but he made it even harder for Chase. He lost Aerodactyl, also Kabutops is a sleep thanks to Vileplume's Sleep Powder," Rui said.
Chase took out Kabutops's Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Kabutops! Come back out!" Chase called out. Kabutops came back out, but was still asleep due to Vileplume's Sleep Powder.
"Okay, Rapidash! Solar Beam, one more time!" Trace called out.
"Wake up, Kabutops!" Chase called out. Kabutops was still sound asleep. The Fire Horse Pokémon fired Solar Beam and then Kabutops woke up. "Ice Beam!" Kabutops fired Ice Beam and blocked Rapidash's Solar Beam. They held on and then, an explosion occurred between them both.
"Rapidash! Use High Horsepower!" Trace ordered. Rapidash charges at Kabutops with a High Horsepower.
"Hydro Pump! Full power!" Chase ordered. Kabutops fired a Hydro Pump, hitting Rapidash and resulted in a knockout.
"Rapidash is unable to battle! Kabutops wins!" The referee announced.
"Great job, Kabutops. You were awesome," Chase said.
"That was a close shave. I thought Kabutops was done for when Rapidash fired that Solar Beam," Kris said.
"So did I. Now, Trace has that Jolteon, and with Sandslash down, he's free to all the electrical power he wants," Ash said.
Trace called back his Rapidash and he smiled.
"You battled awesomely, Rapidash. You've earned a good rest," Trace said. He took out his last Pokéball and threw it. "Jolteon! You're going back out!" Jolteon came back out to battle.
"Be careful, Kabutops. Jolteon's Electric-type attacks can deal some serious damage on you," Chase said. Kabutops nodded.
"Okay, Jolteon! Pin Missile!" Trace ordered. Jolteon fired Pin Missile right toward Kabutops.
"Dodge and use Ice Beam!" Chase ordered. Kabutops avoids Jolteon's Pin Missile and fired Ice Beam at Jolteon.
"Dodge and use Double Kick!" Trace ordered. Jolteon dodged Kabutops's Ice Beam and lands an a Double Kick onto the Shellfish Pokémon. "Thunderbolt!" Jolteon fired a Thunderbolt, shocking Kabutops and resulted in a knockout.
"Kabutops is unable to battle! Jolteon wins!" The referee announced. Chase called back Kabutops.
"You did your best, Kabutops. Have yourself a good rest," Chase said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Okay, Ninetales! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Ninetales emerged from inside.
"Jolteon! Use Thunder Fang!" Trace ordered.
"Dodge and use Tail Slap!" Chase ordered. Ninetales managed to avoid Jolteon's attack, and came at the Lightning Pokémon with its tails, but Jolteon came at Ninetales and land an electrified bite. "Thunderbolt!" Jolteon fired Thunderbolt, shocking Ninetales and resulted in a knockout.
"Ninetales is unable to battle! Jolteon wins!" The referee announced.
"Now, both are down to one Pokémon each, and it's anyone's guess which one will be the winner," Kairi said.
"Well, let's wish the both of them the best luck," Leaf said.
"She's right. It's the final round," Ethan said.
Volt entered the battlefield.
"Okay, Jolteon's ability is Volt Absorb, so Jolteon will take in Volt's electricity and heal with it. But what he doesn't know is that I have some tricks up my sleeve," Chase said in his thoughts.
"Okay, Jolteon, let's end this! Thunder Fang!" Trace ordered.
"Floaty Fall!" Chase ordered. Volt summoned balloons and float up. The balloons then popped and fell downwards, landing a hit onto Jolteon, making the Lightning Pokémon flinch.
"What the?!" Trace exclaimed.
"Now! Use Splishy Splash!" Chase ordered. Volt summoned water with electricity and sends it at Jolteon. Because of the water being mixed with the electricity, Jolteon couldn't absorb it. Jolteon has taken a lot of damage from it. "Use Quick Attack!" Volt dashed at Jolteon and land a hit. Jolteon struggled to stay up, but he fell back down, exhausted from the intense battle.
"Jolteon is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! The winner is Chase from Pallet Town!" The referee announced. The crowd cheered hard. Trace was distraught over his loss.
"I can't believe I lost!" Trace exclaimed. Jolteon got up and nuzzled Trace by the hand. Trace pets Jolteon on the head. "Hey, don't sweat it, Jolteon. You were really awesome out there. You're always a winner to me." Jolteon licks his face, making him laugh. "Stop that! It tickles!" He continued to laugh. Chase and Volt walked up to Trace.
"You doing okay?" Chase asked.
"Yeah, I'm doing okay. I thought I had you though," Trace said.
"So did I. But I had a lot of fun battling you," Chase said.
"I had fun, too. Good luck in the finals," Trace said.
"Thanks," Chase said.
"Now, that the first battle has concluded, our next battle will begin momentarily! But first, let's hear it for these two for such an intense battle!" George Worthington III announced as the crowd roared as they both waved. It wasn't too long until Wes and Michael have both come to the battlefield to begin their battle. "And now, it's time for our next battle to begin! Both of these young warriors have come from the faraway land of Orre and both have foiled the evil Team Shadow and the Shadow Pokémon five years apart from one another! Allow me to present Wes and Michael!" The crowd cheered hard.
"Michael, just so you know, you did a great thing for Orre while Rui and I were gone. You have my thanks," Wes said.
"I'm glad that I do, Wes. And I have to say, battling you is a huge honor for me. I promise I won't let you down," Michael said.
"You never did, you never will. I just wanna see how strong my successor really is," Wes said.
"Trainers! Choose your first Pokémon and begin!" The referee called out. Wes took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Hariyama!" Wes called out.
"I choose you, Roselia!" Michael called out.
Both Hariyama and Roselia came out at once.
"Hariyama! Use Force Palm!" Wes ordered. Hariyama came at Roselia with Force Palm.
"Dodge and use Magical Leaf!" Michael ordered. Roselia fired Magical Leaf, hitting Hariyama. "Now, use Poison Sting!" Roselia fired a Poison Sting, hitting Hariyama.
"Not bad, Michael. I got some moves of my own. Hariyama! Use Arm Thrust!" Wes ordered. Hariyama came at Roselia with an Arm Thrust.
"Dodge!" Michael called out. Roselia manages to dodge Hatiyama's Arm Thrust with ease due to Roselia's small size. "Use Petal Blizzard!" Roselia unleashed Petal Blizzard, hitting Hariyama on the mark. "Now, Energy Ball!"
"Block it!" Wes called out. Hariyama uses its hand to block against Roselia's Energy Ball.
"Nice block, Hariyama!" Rui cheered.
"I'll say. Hariyama's hands must be super thick," Ventus said.
"Hariyama is a force to be reckoned with. I would know since I've seen Hariyama in action as a Makuhita," Rui said.
"A Makuhita that one of Miror B's goons had until Wes snagged it from them, right?" May asked.
"Right," Rui said.
"Roselia! Magical Leaf!" Michael ordered. Roselia fired a Magical Leaf, hitting Hariyama.
"Okay, Hariyama! Heavy Slam!" Wes ordered. Hariyama jumped in the air and started to fall right down.
"Okay, Roselia! Dodge it!" Michael called out. Roselia jumped out of the way in time.
"Roselia is such a fast little Pokémon," Ventus said.
"Clearly, Michael knew Roselia would be taken out fast if that Heavy Slam hits," Terra said.
"Especially when it depends on how heavy the Pokémon is, and Hariyama is a heavy Pokémon," Aqua said.
"Magical Leaf!" Roselia gave Hariyama a blast of Magical Leaf, hitting the Arm Thrust Pokémon on the mark. Wes called back Hariyama and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Typhlosion! Go!" Wes called out. Typhlosion emerged from inside.
"Wes changed Hariyama for Typhlosion. Things are about to heat up and this match is just getting started," Xion said.
"Use Flamethrower!" Wes ordered. Typhlosion fired Flamethrower at the Thorn Pokémon.
"Dodge it, Roselia!" Michael called out. Roselia tried to avoid Typhlosion's Flamethrower, but it came too fast for Roselia to dodge and it ends up being knocked out.
"Roselia is unable to battle! Typhlosion wins!" The referee announced. Michael called Roselia back and he took out an Ultra Ball and threw it.
"Dragonite! I choose you!" Michael called out. His Ultra Ball opened and Dragonite emerged from inside.
"He's sending out Dragonite," Michael said.
"Dragonite can resist Fire-type attacks, so it's a good save," Naminé said.
"Typhlosion! Use Quick Attack!" Wes ordered.
"Dragon Dance and then Dragon Pulse!" Michael ordered. Dragonite performs a dance and builds up both attack power and speed. Dragonite then fired Dragon Pulse at Typhlosion. The Volcano Pokémon has received some heavy damage. "Earthquake!" Dragonite slammed on the ground, making the whole stadium shake, hitting Typhlosion on the mark and resulted in a knockout.
"Typhlosion is unable to battle! Dragonite wins!" The referee announced.
"Way to go, Michael!" Ventus said.
"Thanks to Dragonite's Dragon Dance, Dragonite's speed and power, Dragonite was able to take down Typhlosion," Ethan said.
"Come on, Wes, you can do it," Rui said in her thoughts.
Wes called back Typhlosion and he smiled.
"Not bad, Michael. You took down one of mine after I took down of yours. Let's see how you handle this," Wes said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Feraligatr! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Feraligatr came out.
"Feraligatr? You do know Water-type attacks won't do much damage against Dragon-type Pokémon like Dragonite," Michael pointed out.
"Try, but aren't you forgetting about Water-type Pokémon learning to use Ice-type attacks?" Wes asked. Michael realized his meaning.
"That's right, they can!" Michael winced.
"Ice Fang!" Wes ordered. Feraligatr came at Dragonite with an Ice Fang.
"Dodge it, Dragonite!" Michael called out. Dragonite flew up to dodge Feraligatr's Ice Fang. "Okay, use Hyper Beam!" Dragonite fired Hyper Beam!" Dragonite fired Hyper Beam.
"Dodge it, Feraligatr!" Wes called out. Feraligatr dodges Dragonite's Hyper Beam.
"Nice dodge, Feraligatr!" Rui cheered.
"I'll say," Kris said.
"Now, Wes will take advantage of Dragonite's inability to attack after using Hyper Beam," Rui said.
"Feraligatr! Ice Fang!" Wes ordered. Feraligatr jumped to land an Ice Fang onto Dragonite.
"Try to dodge it!" Michael called out. Dragonite tried to dodge, but Feraligatr came too fast for Dragonite to dodge. Seeing no other option, Michael calls back Dragonite and took out a Great Ball and threw it. "Zangoose! Go!" His Great Ball opened and his Zangoose came out from inside. "Okay, Zangoose! Use Slash!" Zangoose slashed Feraligatr.
"I thought Michael was going to use Zangoose against Wes," Terra said.
"Something special about that Zangoose?" Rui asked.
"Zangoose was one of the Shadow Pokémon we met in Orre. In fact, the first Shadow Pokémon we've met," Aqua said.
"That Zangoose was given to a thug named Zook and he was showing off Zangoose and using it to win Pokémon battles just for the fun of it," Terra said.
"Yeah, that was until we purified Zangoose along with all of the others," Ventus said.
"Okay, Zangoose! Night Slash!" Michael ordered. Zangoose gave Feraligatr one last slash before being brought down.
"Feraligatr is unable to battle! Zangoose wins!" The referee announced. Wes called back Feraligatr and he smiled.
"That was impressive, Michael. That's two you took down. Time to bring out a familiar face," Wes said, throwing his Pokéball. Hariyama! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Hariyama came back out to battle.
"Looks like Hariyama is back out to battle," Kairi said.
"Yes. Zangoose is at a disadvantage against a Fighting-type Pokémon," Rui said.
"That's true. What will Michael do about it?" Ethan asked.
"Hariyama! Force Palm!" Wes ordered. Hariyama came at the Cat Ferret Pokémon with a Force Palm.
"Dodge and use Slash!" Michael ordered. Zangoose dodges and came at Hariyama with a Slash. Zangoose slashed Hariyama across the face. "Use Aerial Ace!" Zangoose dashed at Hariyama, dealing some heavy damage. Hariyama was taken down.
"Hariyama is unable to battle! Zangoose wins!" The referee announced. Wes called back Hariyama.
"Not bad, Michael. That's three I lost to you. But how long can you hold on to your victory?" Wes asked, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Meganium! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Meganium came on out to battle. "Body Press!" Meganium started to come running at Zangoose and started to come down at Zangoose.
"Dodge it and use X-Scissor!" Michael ordered. Zangoose came at Meganium with X-Scissor. The Herb Pokémon has taken some heavy damage from Zangoose's X-Scissor. Wes called Meganium back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Espeon! Go!" Wes called out. His Pokéball opened and Espeon came out to battle.
"Night Slash!" Michael ordered. Zangoose came at Espeon with a Night Slash ready to strike.
"Use Psybeam!" Wes ordered. Espeon fired Psybeam, hitting Zangoose. "Psychic!" Espeon uses Psychic on Zangoose and slammed Zangoose down, resulting in a knockout.
"Zangoose is unable to battle! Espeon wins!" The referee announced. Michael called back his Zangoose.
"You battled hard, Zangoose, so get yourself a good rest," Michael said. He looked at Espeon.
"He sent out Espeon sooner than I thought. But there's still Umbreon to contend with. If I play my cards right, I think I can beat both Espeon and Umbreon with Jolteon's speed. Only one way to find out," Michael said in his thoughts. He took out Jolteon's Pokéball and threw it. "Jolteon! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Jolteon came out. "Okay, Jolteon! Pin Missile!" Jolteon fired Pin Missile at Espeon.
"Dodge and use Psybeam!" Wes ordered. Espeon dodged Jolteon's Pin Missile and fired Psybeam.
"Dodge it and use Shock Wave!" Michael ordered. Jolteon dodged Espeon's Psybeam and fired Shock Wave at the Sun Pokémon.
"I always knew Jolteon's Shock Wave would come in handy. Knowing Espeon would dodge, he has Jolteon use Shock Wave to land a hit no matter where Espeon goes," Karen said.
"Michael's Jolteon has come a long way ever since he was just an Eevee," Terra said.
"Pikachu," Thor said.
"I don't doubt Wes will be impressed," Rui said.
"I'm impressed. Michael is an even better Trainer than I thought. He definitely did a great job filling in my shoes back in Orre," Wes said in his thoughts. Espeon turned to look at Wes who smiled.
"Peon," Espeon said.
"You always did know how to read me, Espeon. Jolteon is a wrecking machine to be reckoned with. Psychic Fangs!" Wes ordered. Espeon came at Jolteon with Psychic Fangs.
"Pin Missile!" Michael ordered. Jolteon fired Pin Missile at Espeon, dealing heavy damage due to his weakness to Bug-type moves.
"Use Psychic!" Wes ordered.
"Use Thunderbolt!" Michael ordered. Jolteon fired Thunderbolt, shocking Espeon. He couldn't concentrate enough to use Psychic. "Finish Espeon off with Thunder Fang!" Jolteon lands a Thunder Fang on Espeon, resulting in a knockout.
"Espeon is unable to battle! Jolteon wins!" The referee announced. Wes called Espeon back and he smiled.
"You battled well, my friend. Thank you. You have earned a good rest," Wes said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Meganium! Go!" His Meganium came back out to battle. Michael called back Jolteon.
"Thanks, Jolteon. You should have a rest for now," Michael said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Crobat! Go!" His Pokéball opened and his Crobat emerged from inside.
"Use Razor Leaf, Meganium!" Wes ordered. Meganium fired Razor Leaf at the Bat Pokémon.
"Crobat! Dodge and use Supersonic!" Michael ordered. Crobat dodges Meganium's Razor Leaf and unleashed a Supersonic, confusing Meganium. "Cross Poison!" Crobat flew at Meganium and landed a hit with Cross Poison. Meganium was knocked out.
"Meganium is unable to battle! Crobat wins!" The referee announced.
"Great job, Crobat!" Michael said. Wes called back Meganium back and he smiled.
"It's been a long time since someone has placed me in the corner like this. This battle is even more enjoyable than I thought. Michael is really giving me a run for my money. But, I have one more ace up my sleeve," Wes said, taking out Umbreon's Pokéball and threw it. "Umbreon! It's your turn!" His Pokéball opened and his Umbreon emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"I knew he had Umbreon along with Espeon. And I know he knew I was hoping for it. Umbreon is just as strong as Espeon, so I'll have to do what I can. Crobat! Supersonic!" Crobat unleashed Supersonic right at the Moonlight Pokémon.
"Feint Attack!" Wes ordered. Umbreon vanished and darts at Crobat after reappearing. "Dark Pulse!" Umbreon unleashed Dark Pulse, hitting Crobat and resulted in a knockout.
"Crobat is unable to battle! Umbreon wins!" The referee announced.
Michael took out one more Pokéball and threw it.
"Gardevoir! Go!" Michael called out. His Pokéball opened and Gardevoir emerged from inside. "Use Moonblast!" Gardevoir unleashed a Moonblast at the Moonlight Pokémon.
"Dodge it and use Feint Attack!" Umbreon dodges Gardevoir's Moonblast and vanished before Umbreon reappeared to land a hit on the Embrace Pokémon. "Dark Pulse!" Umbreon unleashed Dark Pulse, hitting Gardevoir on the spot. Gardevoir was knocked out.
"Gardevoir is unable to battle! Umbreon wins!" The referee announced.
"Now, both Michael and Wes are down to one each," Kris said.
"Yes, and only one of them will be among the final four," Riku said.
"They both battled hard to get here," Naminé said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Azurill," Azurill chirped.
"Win or lose, Wes, you're still number one to me," Rui said in her thoughts.
"Okay, Umbreon! Dark Pulse!" Wes ordered. Umbreon fired Dark Pulse.
"Use Thunderbolt!" Michael ordered. Jolteon fired Thunderbolt, colliding with Umbreon's Dark Pulse. The two attacks resulted in an explosion. "Pin Missile!" Jolteon fired Pin Missile at Umbreon.
"Dodge it and use Crunch!" Wes ordered. Umbreon dodges Jolteon's Pin Missile and came at Jolteon to land a Crunch onto Jolteon. "Feint Attack!" Umbreon lands a hit with Feint Attack.
"Shock Wave!" Michael ordered. Jolteon fired Thunderbolt, shocking Umbreon. "Thunder Fang!" Jolteon came at Umbreon with Thunder Fang.
"Feint Attack!" Wes ordered. Umbreon lands another hit with Feint Attack. "Dark Pulse!"
"Shock Wave!" Michael ordered. Before Jolteon could fire Shock Wave, Umbreon fired Dark Pulse too fast for Jolteon to land a hit.
"Use Pursuit!" Wes ordered. Umbreon came at Jolteon with a tackle while surrounded by black energy and land a hit. Jolteon gets back up, panting. Umbreon pants as well, using some of his remaining energy. They stare at each other until Jolteon fell to the ground, exhausted and beaten.
"Jolteon is unable to battle! Umbreon wins! The winner is Wes from the Orre region!" The referee announced as the crowd cheered. Rui was glad Wes had won, but she was proud of how Michael battled.
Michael helped Jolteon up.
"You were awesome, Jolteon. You tried your best," Michael said.
"That was a good battle, Michael. The way you battled really impressed me. I can see why Team Shadow had a hard time with you. Good job," Wes said.
"Thanks, Wes. It was a huge honor to be battling you, and I'm hoping I get to battle you again someday," Michael said.
"Likewise. All you have to do is ask," Wes said.
"Right, because we're both classmates," Michael said, shaking hands.
"That was a thrilling battle of the heroes! And now, our next battle will begin momentarily, so let's give these two one more hand!" George Worthington III announced as the spectators all roared. After Wes and Michael left the battlefield, it was now Roxas and Brendan's turn. "And now, it's time for battle number three! From Littleroot Town, we have Brendan going up against Roxas! I wonder what kind of battle could we be in for? Well, that's what we are here to find out! So, go, go, go, GO!" The crowd cheered extra hard.
"I know you're Sora's adopted brother, but battling you would be like battling him again," Brendan said.
"I know what you mean, Brendan. Just give me everything you've got and I'll do the same thing with you," Brendan said.
"I wouldn't have it any other way, Roxas. Let's get the show on the road," Brendan said. The referee stepped out to begin the battle.
"Trainers, choose your first Pokémon and begin!" The referee called out. Roxas took out a Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Kangaskhan! Go!" Roxas called out. Kangaskhan came out to battle.
"Go! Kingler!" Brendan called out. His Pokéball opened and a Spanish green Kingler came out with a swirl of stars. "Kingler! Use Crabhammer!" Kingler came at Kangaskhan with a Crabhammer.
"Use Dizzy Punch!" Roxas ordered. Kangaskhan lands a Dizzy Punch against Kingler's Crabhammer. "Mega Kick!"
"Dodge and use Hydro Pump!" Brendan ordered. Kingler dodges Kangaskhan's Mega Kick and fired Hydro Pump, hitting the Parent Pokémon in the face. "Okay, use Vice Grip!" Kingler moved its larger pincer at Kangaskhan.
"Use Ice Punch!" Roxas ordered. Kangaskhan lands an Ice Punch, freezing Kingler where it stood. "Aerial Ace!" Kangaskhan dashed at Kingler, knocking it out.
"Kingler is unable to battle! Kangaskhan wins!" The referee announced. Brendan called back his Kingler and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up now, Snorlax!" Brendan called out. A Snorlax emerged from inside, ready to battle. "Okay, Snorlax! Body Press!" Snorlax jumped and started to come down at Kangaskhan.
"Aerial Ace!" Roxas ordered. Kangaskhan dashed at Snorlax and they collide against one another. Both Normal-type Pokémon have taken heavy damage.
"Okay, Snorlax! Use Hyper Beam!" Brendan ordered. Snorlax fired Hyper Beam, hitting Kangaskhan on the mark. It deals some additional damage. Roxas calls back Kangaskhan and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Rhydon!" Roxas called out. His Pokéball opened and his Rhydon came out to battle. "Use Horn Drill!" Rhydon ran towards Snorlax with its horn spinning like drill.
"Try to dodge, Snorlax!" Brendan called out. Rhydon came too fast for Snorlax to dodge and ends up being knocked out.
"Snorlax is unable to battle! Rhydon wins!" The referee announced.
"Great job, Rhydon!" Roxas said. Rhydon roared in appreciation.
"That was impressive. Roxas has his Rhydon know Horn Drill and took down Snorlax with just one hit," Ethan said.
"Well, Snorlax couldn't attack again after using Hyper Beam, so Roxas took advantage of the incapacity while he could," Xion said.
"Yeah, but Brendan will mount a comeback," May said. Brendan called back his Snorlax.
"Man, that Horn Drill took me by surprise. But he's not the only one who surprises," Brendan said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Let's go, Cacturne!" His Pokéball opened and his Cacturne came out to battle.
Harley looked right at Brendan's Cacturne.
"I'll admit, he has good taste in Pokémon, but my Cacturne is way better than his," Harley said.
"Okay, Rhydon! Horn Drill again!" Roxas ordered. Rhydon ran toward Cacturne with another Horn Drill. Brendan just grinned, knowing Roxas has taken the bait.
"Okay, Cacturne! Spiky Shield!" Brendan ordered. Roxas gasped. Cacturne extended its spikes from its body and uses it as a shield.
"Rhydon, stop!" Roxas called out. It was too late, because Rhydon was poked hard by the green spikes.
"Ooh, that's gotta hurt," Lyra said.
"Roxas sure walked into that one, didn't he?" May asked.
"He did. Clearly he knew Roxas would try another Horn Drill, so he had Cacturne use Spiky Shield as a defense," Riku said.
"What's Spiky Shield?" Ryuko asked.
"Spiky Shield is a Grass-type move that works kinda like Protect and Detect, but it hurts the Pokémon when it gets close enough," Kairi said.
"Eevee," Angel said.
"Poor Rhydon," Ryuko said.
"Sorry, Rhydon. I didn't know Cacturne would use Spiky Shield. But let's use a move that won't make involve you making physical contact. Meteor Beam!" Rhydon began to build up energy, gathering up space power.
"Rhydon is preparing to use Meteor Beam. It works like Solar Beam, but it takes in space energy, so I gotta take Rhydon down before that happens. Bullet Seed!" Brendan ordered. Cacturne fired Bullet Seed at Rhydon. The Drill Pokémon just takes it. Once Rhydon has stored enough energy, Rhydon fired an orange beam of energy from the ball at Cacturne, knocking it out.
"Cacturne is unable to battle! Rhydon wins!" The referee announced.
"Great job, Rhydon," Roxas said. Brendan called back Cacturne.
"You gave it your best shot, Cacturne, but you managed to tire Rhydon out like I wanted you to," Brendan said. He took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Swampert! Go!" His Pokéball opened and Swampert came out to battle. Knowing Rhydon is exhausted and weak against Water and Ground-type attacks, Roxas called back Rhydon and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"You're up, Venusaur!" Roxas called out. Venusaur emerged from inside to battle. "Thought I was gonna keep Rhydon out, didn't you?"
"I almost did. But my Swampert isn't afraid of any Grass-type attacks your Venusaur has," Brendan said.
"I doubt your Swampert is afraid. I'm ready for anything your Swampert has got," Roxas said.
"Be careful with what you ask for, Roxas. Swampert! Ice Punch!" Brendan ordered. Swampert came at Venusaur with an Ice Punch.
"Use Vine Whip!" Roxas ordered. Venusaur extends his vines to hit Swampert, but the Mud Fish Pokémon dodges Venusaur's Vine Whip and lands a successful hit with Ice Beam. "Okay, Leaf Storm!" Venusaur unleashed a Leaf Storm, taking Swampert in it. It does some heavy damage on Swampert, but still standing. "Trailblaze!" Venusaur charges at Swampert.
"Use Ice Punch!" Brendan ordered. Swampert lands an Ice Punch, freezing Venusaur. "Use Earthquake!" Swampert pounds on the ground, making the ice shatter and shaking the battlefield. Venusaur had been taken down.
"Venusaur is unable to battle! Swampert wins!" The referee announced.
"Well, that was unexpected. He had the advantage and everything," Ash said.
"I guess Brendan was ready for him," Leaf said. Roxas called back Venusaur.
"Don't worry about losing, Venusaur. You did your best," Roxas said. He took out Kangaskhan's Pokéball and threw it. "Kangaskhan! Back to action!" His Pokéball opened and Kangaskhan emerged back out. "Aerial Ace!" Kangaskhan dashed at Swampert to land a hit. "Now, use Ice Punch!"
"You use Ice Punch, too, Swampert!" Brendan ordered. Both land an Ice Punch onto each other.
"Aerial Ace!" Roxas ordered.
"Hammer Arm!" Brendan ordered. Kangaskhan and Swampert clashed at each other and they deal damage on each other. "Use Muddy Water!" Swampert spewed Muddy Water from its mouth and sent right at the Parent Pokémon.
"Dodge it and use Dizzy Punch!" Roxas ordered. Kangaskhan dodges Swampert's Muddy Water and land a hit with a Dizzy Punch. "Dizzy Punch again!"
"Ice Punch!" Roxas and Brendan ordered. Both Kangaskhan and Swampert land a super-powered Ice Punch. It was enough to earn a double knockout.
"Kangaskhan and Swampert are both unable to battle! This round is a round!" The referee announced.
"Hammer Arm!" Brendan ordered. Kangaskhan lands another Dizzy Punch while Swampert lands a Hammer Arm.
"Ice Punch!" Roxas and Brendan ordered. Both Pokémon land an icy punch onto each other and it was enough to earn a double knockout.
"Kangaskhan and Swampert are both unable to battle! This round is a draw!" The referee announced.
"Well, Roxas still has three while and Brendan has two," Rui said.
"Let's see if it stays in Roxas's favor or Brendan pushes back," Naminé said.
Roxas and Brendan each took out a Pokéball and threw their Pokéballs.
"Blastoise! Go!" Roxas called out.
"Go! Sceptile!" Brendan called out.
Both Pokémon emerged from inside, ready to battle.
"Blastoise! Use Skull Bash!" Roxas ordered.
"Dodge and use Trailblaze!" Brendan ordered. Ceptile avoids Blastoise's attack and came at the Shellfish Pokémon with a Trailbaze. "Solar Blade!" Sceptile began to build up solar energy in the leaves.
"Use Rapid Spin!" Roxas ordered. Blastoise does a spin after withdrawing in his shell. Sceptile then comes at Blastoise once he had built enough energy and lands a hit. Blastoise has taken some heavy damage due to his weakness to Grass-type attacks. "Seed Bomb!" Sceptile fired Seed Bomb, hitting Blastoise, knocking him out.
"Blastoise is unable to battle! Sceptile wins!" The referee announced. Roxas called Blastoise back and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Charizard! Go!" Roxas called out. His Charizard came out to battle.
"Okay, Sceptile, you wanna keep going?" Brendan asked his partner.
"Scep," Sceptile said.
"Thought so. Dragon Claw!" Brendan ordered.
"Dodge it and use Slash!" Roxas ordered.
Both Pokemon come at each other and land a hit on one another.
"Charizard! Seismic Toss!" Roxas ordered. Charizard flew and grabbed Sceptile. He flew upwards and flies around in the air. Sceptile was dizzy from the flying. Charizard gave Sceptile a strong throw. Sceptile lands on the ground very hard. "Flamethrower!" Charizard fired Flamethrower, hitting Sceptile, knocking him out.
"Sceptile is unable to battle! Charizard wins!" The referee announced. Brendan called back Sceptile and took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Charizard! Go!" Brendan called out and Brendan's Charizard emerged from inside. Roxas called his Charizard back and he looked at Xipak.
"You're going in now, Xipak," Roxas said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said, stepping in.
"Roxas is sending out Xipak to deal with Brendan's Charizard. Makes sense since his Charizard is a Flying-type,"Lyra said.
"Well, Xipak knew Brendan's Charizard as a Charmander, so I doubt Charizard would make it easy for Xipak to land a weakness," Ethan said.
"Charizard! Flamethrower!" Brendan ordered. Charizard fired Flamethrower at Xipak.
"Use Quick Attack to dodge!" Roxas ordered. Xipak dodges Charizard's Flamethrower, but Charizard moved it in order to land a hit. Xipak lands a hit with Quick Attack.
"Thunder Punch!" Brendan ordered. Charizard lands a Thunder Punch onto Xipak. "Use Flamethrower!" Charizard fired a Flamethrower, hitting Xipak on the mark and ends up being burned by Charizard's Flamethrower.
"Uh-oh. Xipak's burned. While burned, Xipak's attack will be weak. Better put Charizard down fast. Xipak! Thunderbolt!" Roxas called out.
"Use Dragon Pulse!" Charizard fired a Dragon Pulse, clashing with Xipak's Thunderbolt, holding. Due to Xipak's burns, Charizard's Dragon Pulse overpowered Xipak's Thunderbolt and landed a hit. Xipak was taken out.
"Pikachu is unable to battle! Charizard wins!" The referee announced.
Roxas went over to Xipak and picked him up.
"You okay, Xipak?" Roxas asked.
"Pikachu," Xipak weakly said.
"You should rest up, buddy. You've earned it," Roxas said, returning to place and took out Charizard's Pokeball and threw it. "Back to action, Charizard!" His Pokéball opened and his Charizard came out to battle.
"Flamethrower!" Brendan ordered. Brendan's Charizard flew and fired Flamethrower at Roxas's Charizard.
"Dodge it!" Roxas called out. Roxas's Charizard flew up in the air. "Use Slash!" Roxas's Charizard came at Brendan's Charizard with a Slash.
"Use Dragon Claw!" Brendan ordered.
"Breaking Swipe!" Roxas ordered. Roxas's Charizard smacked Brendan's Charizard with his tail. "Seismic Toss!" Roxas's Charizard grabbed Brendan's Charizard and brings down Brendan's Charizard and threw it. Brendan's Charizard came back up to roar, but fell back down, beaten.
"Brendan's Charizard is unable to battle! Roxas's Charizard wins! The winner is Roxas!" The referee announced. The crowd cheered as Roxas gave his Charizard a hug.
"That was awesome, Charizard. I knew you could do it. If only Axel was here. He would be thrilled," Roxas said. Roxas's Charizard nodded with agreement.
"That was awesome, Roxas. That confirms you have Sora's skills," Brendan said.
"You were awesome, too, Brendan. I had fun battling you," Roxas said.
"So did I," Brendan said.
"A huge congratulations on Roxas for his victory! Now we will have our fourth and final battle of our final eight!" George Worthington III announced as Sora, Elaine, Pikachu, and Maple entered the battlefield.
"Well, it's our turn, now," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"Yeah. Chase, Trace, Roxas, Brendan, Michael, and Wes had their battles, so only one of us will be moving on in the final round, so we're gonna have to give it everything we've got," Elaine said.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"You're right, Elaine. Just don't pull any punches with me," Sora said.
"Leaf didn't, so I don't see why I should," Elaine said. Sora chuckled.
"Exactly," Sora said.
"And now, the moment of truth! Here are our two gladiators from Pallet Town, Sora and Elaine! Whomever wins this round will earn the right to be counted as the final four! Let's watch these two duke it out and see which one will it be!" George Worthington III announced.
"Trainers! Choose your first Pokémon and begin!" The referee called out.
Elaine took out her first Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Butterfree!" Elaine called out.
"Pikachu! Go!" Sora called out. Pikachu stepped in the battlefield.
"Butterfree! Use Psybeam!" Elaine ordered. Butterfree fired Psybeam at the Mouse Pokémon.
"Dodge and use Electro Ball!" Sora ordered. Pikachu forms a ball of electricity and sends it at the Butterfly Pokémon, landing a hit.
"Okay, Butterfree! Use Shadow Ball!" Elaine ordered. Butterfree fired a Shadow Ball at Pikachu.
"Use Iron Tail to send it back!" Sora ordered. Pikachu swings his tail and bats it away like a baseball bat.
"Blow it back with Gust!" Elaine ordered. Butterfree flapped its wings with Gust. Butterfree's Shadow Ball is pushed back.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Pikachu ran to dodge it.
"Okay, use Signal Beam!" Maple ordered. Butterfree fired a Signal Beam at Pikachu.
"Dodge it and use Quick Attack!" Sora ordered. Pikachu avoids Butterfree's Signal Beam and dashed at the Butterfly Pokémon to make contact. "Thunderbolt!" Pikachu gave Butterfree a devastating shock. It was enough to bring Butterfree down.
"Butterfree is unable to battle! Pikachu wins!" The referee announced. Elaine called back Butterfree.
"That was awesome, but here's another one for ya, Sora," Elaine said, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Let's get digging, Dugtrio!" Her Pokéball opened to reveal an Alolan Dugtrio.
Same situation with Chase. Elaine caught a Kanto Diglett a while back, so Elaine caught another Diglett to trade for an Alolan Diglett. After the trade, she trained those two Diglett until they evolved into Dugtrio.
"Okay, an Alolan Dugtrio. That's cool, but it's bad for me since Pikachu won't hurt it with electricity, also Quick Attack won't even tickle it because it's a Steel-type, too. Better make a switch just to play it safe," Sora said in his thoughts. He called out, "Pikachu, come on back!" Pikachu returned to Sora's side as he took out a Pokéball and threw it. "Let's go, Flygon!" His Pokéball opened to reveal Flygon. "How do you like that, Elaine? Dugtrio's Ground-type moves won't touch him!"
"No big deal! My Dugtrio can take on Flygon without using Ground-type moves. Use Flash Cannon!" Elaine ordered. Dugtrio fired Flash Cannon at the Mystic Pokémon.
"Dodge it and use Dragon Breath!" Sora ordered. Flygon fired Dragon Breath at Dugtrio.
"Dodge with Dig!" Elaine ordered. Dugtrio digs underground to dodge.
"I thought you said you weren't gonna use Ground-type moves, Elaine!" Sora said.
"Yeah, but I meant for it as an attack, not to dodge," Elaine said.
"Yeah, well, you made a big mistake with that, because Dugtrio can still feel it. Earthquake!" Sora ordered, making Elaine gasped.
"Uh-oh," Elaine said. Flygon slammed on the ground, making everything shake. Dugtrio felt the extra damage, due to being underground. Dugtrio was forced up.
"It looks like Elaine walked into that one," Xion said.
"Yeah. Sora clearly knew Earthquake's power doubles when a Pokémon is underground. And since that Dugtrio is a Steel-type, that's extra," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee said.
"Aw, man, I forgot Earthquake deals double damage with Dig. And being a Steel-type doesn't help out that much," Elaine said.
"Okay, Flygon! Dragon Rush!" Sora ordered. Flygon flew right at Dugtrio and lands a hit. Dugtrio was knocked out.
"Dugtrio is unable to battle! Flygon wins!" The referee announced.
"Great job, Flygon," Sora said. Elaine called back Dugtrio.
"Sorry, Dugtrio. I should have remembered Earthquake. Get some rest," Elaine said. She took out another Pokéball and threw it. "Dewgong! Go!" Her Pokéball opened and her Dewgong came out to battle. Sora called back Dewgong and he took out another Pokéball and threw it.
"Go! Absol!" Sora called out. His Pokéball opened and Absol emerged from inside. "Okay, Absol! Use Night Slash!" Absol rushes at Dewgong with a Night Slash.
"Dodge it and use Aurora Beam!" Elaine ordered. Dewgong dodges Absol's Night Slash and fired Aurora Beam. Absol was hit hard. "Use Headbutt!" Dewgong lands a Headbutt.
"Use Bite!" Sora ordered.
"Headbutt again!" Elaine ordered. Dewgong lands a Headbutt, making Absol flinch. "Use Chilling Water!" Dewgong unleashed cold water and sends it at the Disaster Pokémon.
"Quick Attack to dodge!" Sora ordered. Absol dashed at the Sea Lion Pokémon. "Use Feint Attack!" Absol disappeared and lands a hit onto Dewgong. "Night Slash!" Absol slashed at Dewgong, resulting in a knockout.
"Dewgong is unable to battle! Absol wins!" The referee announced. Elaine called back Dewgong and took out another Pokéball.
"Dang. This isn't going as planned. Sora always improvises, so I'll do the same thing," Elaine said in her thoughts, taking out another Pokéball and threw it. "Rapidash! Go!" Her Pokéball opened and her Rapidash emerged from inside. "Okay, Rapidash! Use Megahorn!" The Fire Horse Pokémon races with its horn out.
"Dodge!" Sora called out. Absol dodges Rapidash's attack to dodge. "Use Feint Attack!" Absol disappeared and lands a hit onto Rapidash.
"Rapidash! Use Double Kick!" Elaine ordered. Rapidash gave Absol two kicks from her hind legs. "Now, use High Horsepower!" Rapidash charges at Absol with High Horsepower.
"Absol! Use Dark Pulse!" Sora ordered. Absol fired Dark Pulse, hitting Rapidash on the mark. "Night Slash!"
"Use Flame Charge!" Elaine ordered. Rapidash gallops at Absol and lands a hit, increasing its speed. "Megahorn!" Rapidash charges at Absol.
"Use Bite!" Sora ordered. Absol came at Rapidash. Both Pokémon land a hit on each other and results in a double knockout.
"Rapidash and Absol are both unable to battle! This round is a draw!" The referee announced. Sora and Elaine called their Pokémon back. Sora and Elaine each took out a Pokéball and threw them.
"Pidgeot! Go!" Elaine called out.
"Salamence! Go!" Sora called out.
Pidgeot and Salamence came out to battle.
"Pidgeot! Use Wing Attack!" Elaine ordered.
"Dodge and use Flamethrower!" Sora ordered. Salamence dodged Pidgeot's attack and fired Flamethrower at the Bird Pokémon, landing a hit.
"Use Aerial Ace!" Elaine ordered. Pidgeot dashed at Salamence with Aerial Ace. "Air Slash!" Pidgeot sends out Air Slash, hitting the Dragon Pokémon. "Wing Attack!"
"Dragon Claw!" Sora ordered. Salamence slashed at Pidgeot with his claws. "Fly!" Salamence flew up in the air. Salamence then started to fly down at Pidgot, hitting the Bird Pokémon. "Dragon Pulse!" Salamence unleashed a Dragon Pulse, hitting Pidgeot, making the Bird Pokémon and lands on the ground. Pidgot was knocked out.
"Pidgeot is unable to battle! Salamence wins!" The referee announced.
"Elaine's down to one," May said.
"It looks like it could be anybody's battle," Kris said.
"Maple, you ready?" Elaine asked.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"Okay, Maple, we trained for this, so we'll give him something I know he won't expect. You ready to give it a shot?" Maple asked.
"Eevee," Maple said.
"I figured you would be. Let's go," Elaine said. Maple stepped in the battlefield.
"I figured she saved Maple for last. But I can't help but feel she's planning something for me. Only one way to find out what it is. Salamence! Dragon Pulse!" Sora ordered. Salamence fired Dragon Pulse at Maple.
"Okay, Maple! Go! Use Freezy Frost!" Elaine ordered. Sora was caught off guard when Elaine shouted it. Maple creates an ice crystal made out of cold frozen haze. Maple sends it at Salamence, hitting the Dragon Pokémon.
"Freezy Frost?!" Sora exclaimed.
"Pika?!" Pikachu also exclaimed, sharing Sora's shock.
"I never heard of that move!" Rui said.
"Nor have I. Elaine must have figured out Maple could use other moves other than Veevee Volley," Rei said.
"That took me by surprise, Elaine," Sora said.
"Thought you would be, but that's not the only one. Use Sparkly Swirl!" Elaine ordered. Maple sends out a pink sparkly spiral and struck Salamence on the mark.
"That looked like a Fairy-type move," Sora said.
"Veevee Volley!" Elaine ordered. Maple dashed at Salamence, hitting the Dragon Pokémon, resulting in a knockout.
"Salamence is unable to battle! Eevee wins!" The referee announced.
AN: Okay, I had a lot of thinking to do to figure out which one of the special moves for Maple the Eevee to use. So, I decided to go with all of em at once. I figured Maple would be a special Eevee to use the moves that represented each of Eevee's eight evolved forms, along with regular moves on the side. Sora calls back Salamence.
"You really took me by surprise like that, Elaine. I never expected that," Sora said.
"There's plenty more where that came from," Elaine said.
"Somehow, I don't doubt it," Sora said, taking out a Pokéball and threw it. "Go! Aggron!" Aggron came out to battle. "Okay, Aggron! Use Metal Claw!" Aggron charges at Maple.
"Dodge and use Quick Attack!" Elaine ordered. Maple dodged Quick Attack and barley hits Aggron.
"You should know Normal-type moves doesn't hurt Steel and Rock-types all that much," Sora pointed out.
"That was a trick. Bouncy Bubble!" Elaine ordered. Maple blew water bubbles, hitting Aggron on the mark. She absorbed some energy from Aggron when the bubbles hit him.
The referee made contact with George Worthington III.
"Uh, boss, that Eevee looks like it's got more moves than it should know. Is that even allowed?" The referee asked.
"Who cares about logic? The crowd is loving it!" George Worthington III said.
And he was right, the crowd were amazed by what they were seeing.
"That is no ordinary Eevee," a random man said.
"That Eevee just used an Ice, Fairy, and Water-type move," a random woman said.
"I wonder if that Eevee would evolve into a Sylveon, Glaceon, or Vaporeon," another man said.
"Okay, Maple! Use Sizzly Slide!" Elaine ordered. Maple charges with some flames cloaking her.
"Try to dodge it!" Sora called out. Aggron tried to dodge, but Maple came too fast for Aggron to dodge. Aggron fell backwards, beaten.
"Aggron is unable to battle! Eevee wins!" The referee announced. Sora calls Aggron back and he took out Flygon's Pokéball and threw it.
"Okay, Flygon! Back to action!" Sora called out. Flygon came back out to battle. "Use Dragon Breath!" Flygon blew a Dragon Breath at Maple.
"Dodge and use Sparkly Swirl!" Elaine ordered. Maple avoids Flygon's Dragon Breath and hits Flygon, dealing heavy damage due to his weakness to Fairy-type moves. "Veevee Volley!" Maple dashed at Flygon, landing a heavy hit. Flygon was knocked out.
"Flygon is unable to battle! Eevee wins!" The referee announced.
"Elaine is really making a comeback after Sora had her in a corner," Aqua said.
"That Eevee of hers is something else," Terra said.
"You got that right. Angel, Celeste, and my Eevee can't do all that," Riku said.
"Eevee," Eevee agreed.
Sora called back Flygon and took out his next Pokéball.
"Okay, let's see how Maple handles a bigger opponent. Go! Melmetal!" Sora called out. Melmetal emerged from inside, ready to go.
"Maple! Sizzly Slide!" Elaine ordered. Maple charges at Melmetal with flames.
"Okay, bat Maple away with Double Iron Bash!" Sora ordered. Melmetal does its spinning and swings its arms. Thanks to Maple's small size, she was able to dodge Melmetal's attack. She lands a hit onto Melmetal. "Maple is so much slippery than I thought. Okay, Melmetal! Flash Cannon!" Melmetal fired a Flash Cannon, but Maple managed to dodge it.
"Sizzly Slide again!" Maple ordered. Maple dashed at Melmetal and lands another hit. It was due to its weakness to fire that Melmetal fell backwards. Melmetal was beaten.
"Melmetal is unable to battle! Eevee wins!" The referee announced. Sora called Melmetal back.
"Now, both are down to one Pokémon each," Xion said.
"And I have a good idea which one he has in mind," Kairi said.
"Of course, you would know," Ash and Leaf teased in unison, making Kairi blush.
"Eevee," Angel said.
Sora looked at Pikachu.
"Okay, Pikachu, you saw what Maple can do, so don't take her lightly," Sora said.
"Pika," Pikachu nodded.
"I'm counting on you," Sora said. Pikachu entered the battlefield.
"I had a feeling Sora would save Pikachu for last, especially taking down the rest of my team. Now, to give Sora some more surprises," Elaine said. Maple looked back at Elaine and nodded. Elaine nodded back. "Okay, Maple! Baddy Bad!" Maple puts up a Reflect as she sends out a black orb of energy, sending it at Pikachu.
"Dodge it!" Sora called out. Pikachu dodged Maple's attack.
"Okay, that was a Dark-type move," Sora said.
"Now, use Glitzy Glow!" Elaine ordered. Maple unleashed purple energy and setting up a Light Screen. This hits Pikachu on the mark. "Buzzy Buzz!" Maple unleashed a burst of electricity at Pikachu, hitting him. "And now, one more surprise! Sappy Seed!" Maple summons a giant beanstalk in the middle of the battlefield. Everyone was at awe. Roxas, Brendan, Chase, Wes, Michael, and Trace were just as amazed when they were watching.
"Is that a beanstalk?" Chase asked.
"The same kind that would have a giant climb down from," Michael said.
The beanstalk then sprinkles seeds downward and it withers and wilts. Pikachu is hit by one of the seeds.
"Okay, that was a Grass-type move, and that confirms it. Ice, Fairy, Water, Fire, Psychic, Dark, Electric, and Grass-type. Each one has to be based off of Glaceon, Sylveon, Vaporeon, Flareon, Espeon, Jolteon, Umbreon, and Leafeon. I can't help but wonder if Volt has some other surprises like the one he pulled with Trace earlier. Worry about that later. I gotta finish my battle first. Thunderbolt!" Pikachu fired Thunderbolt at Maple.
"Buzzy Buzz!" Elaine ordered. Maple uses Buzzy Buzz to block. "Use Quick Attack!" Maple dashed at Pikachu and lands a hit. Pikachu felt some of his energy being sapped by the seed and sent into Maple.
"That Sappy Seed must work the same way as Leech Seed. Maple is absorbing energy from Pikachu. I gotta end this battle quickly," Sora said in his thoughts.
"Maple! Sizzly Slide!" Elaine ordered. Maple charges at Pikachu with flames.
"Use Iron Tail!" Sora ordered. Pikachu gave Maple a hit with Iron Tail. "Go after Maple!" Pikachu chases Maple around. The chase goes on until Pikachu caught Maple. "Thunderbolt! Full power!" Pikachu unleashed Thunderbolt, giving Maple some heavy damage. Maple was then knocked out by the intense Thunderbolt.
"Eevee is unable to battle! Pikachu wins! The winner is Sora from Pallet Town!" The referee announced. The crowd cheered hard. Sora picked up Pikachu.
"Good battling, buddy," Sora said.
"Pikachu," Pikachu said.
"You were amazing, Maple," Elaine said.
"Vee," Maple said.
"You and Maple were totally awesome. You almost got me with those awesome moves Maple pulled off," Sora said.
"Thanks. I wanted you to be the first to have a taste of it, Sora," Elaine said.
"Well, your awesomeness did come in 8 delicious flavors," Sora said. Elaine beamed at the compliment.
"That was one of the most amazing battles I have ever seen in my entire life! I have seen my share of Eevee in my day, but never anything like this! Before we get to the final four, let's hear it for Elaine and her fantastic Eevee!" George Worthington III announced as they all cheered.
"Looks like you're a celebrity now," Sora said.
"Any words of advice, Sora?" Elaine asked.
"Yeah. Grin and bear it," Sora said.
"And now, our finalists have been decided! And here they all are! Chase, Wes, Roxas, and Sora! These four young warriors have made it this far, so same rules apply! Wanna see more battling action? Well, just stay in your seats and don't go anywhere, because you'll find here in the stadium here in Fennel Castle, and you do not want to miss it!" George Worthington III announced as the crowd cheered.
Now that a series of exciting battles are behind them, we are down to Sora, Roxas, Chase, and Wes as the final four contestants in the Pokémon Stadium Cup. Who will make it to the top? Stick around if you wanna find out.
