Chapter 1 - The Origin Story
Izuku Midoriya hated this world. He hated the fact that his dreams were crushed before they could truly begin. He knew he was delusional, stupid. He, a child without a power, without a quirk in this world of superheroes was insane. Even so he believed, he thought that, if he just tried hard enough, maybe just maybe he could become a here. Not even the number 1 hero, just a hero. Someone that could help civilians in the most basic of things. But, deep inside he knew. He knew that without a quirk becoming a hero was stupid, the final nail in the coffin however came from his idol. The number 1 hero All Might.
You see, the day was just another day in his boring life. Wake up, go to school, get bullied for not having a quirk in the society where 80% of people had all kinds of quirks. But today was different, today the teacher annouce the schools they were going to. It turned out, that Izuku's decision that apllying to the number one hero school known as UA wasn't the best idea. As his childhood friend Katsuki Bakugo the second he heard where he was going burst out in anger. Not believing that someone as useless as him, a Deku could even think about UA. It was even worse after class, where Katsuki threw Izuku's "Hero Analysis for the Future" notebook number 13 from the window. The notebook landed in some fountain outside, drenched in water.
Things got even worse. After going out of school Izuku decided to take a shortcut home. He didn't acount for a villain to just be in a nearby area. The sludge villain attacked him, sufficating him. And the worst part? He couldn't even fight back, he truly was a Deku, he thought at that moment. Before passing out he heard a loud booming voice saying something.
After waking up Izuku was face to face with his idol, the number 1 hero All Might. He saved him from the Sludge villain. All Might even sign his notebook. But then as the blonde hair hero was about to jump off, the villain in a small bottle, Izuku did something stupid. He lached on All Might's leg for dear life. The hero only saw him as they were above the city, far into the air.
All Might landed on some random rooftop, before Izuku could even apologise the number 1 hero shrank down, reaviling his true form. A skinny old man stood before the green haired boy. All Might then explained how an injury from way back caused him to have a time limit. Showing Izuku the injury, that made the young boy's stomache twist, it looked painfull, very, very painfull. But Izuku was still going to ask his question, "Can someone without a quirk become a hero?". He was hopefull, maybe All Might would give him a big smile and say something positive? No. He was denied, the number 1 hero said no. He couldn't become a hero without a quirk, better off becoming a police officer, he said that. Thankfully All Might checked his pocket and was relieved that the bottle, where the Sludge villain was contained, was still there, save. After all the talking Izuku promised he wouldn't reveal All Might's secret, before he was left alone on a rooftop.
"Damn it all..." Izuku spoke, now in his bedroom. He didn't knew what to do anymore. All he wanted was to save people with a big smile. Now he realised how positive he was about it. Not only that, but he didn't even prepare himself for the entrance exam of UA. He thought some miracle would happened, maybe a late quirk awakening, he was truly a stupid Deku.
Laying on his bed, he looked around at his All Might filled room. There was everything from posters, figures and mangas about the number 1 pro hero. Sighing deeply he opened up his phone. No messages from anyone. After all he had no friends.
Izuku stared at his phone for what seemed like forever. The words of All Might flying around in his head like a broken disc on repeat. He finally snaped back to reality when his phone dropped to the floor by accident.
Blinking a couple of times, Izuku sighed for what feels like the hundred time today. He got out of bed and crouched to pick it up. Then however he stopped, seeing something under his bed. With a slight frown he reached for the thing. After dusting it off for a moment he could notice that it was one of the old comic books. One that came out before the first quirk apeared in China.
"Batman?" he muttered under his breath. On the book was a guy in the bat suit.
"Maybe some bat power? Or..." Izuku started to mutter under his breath more and more. A bad habbit he got from his mother. Finally stopping he shrugged, hopping back onto his bed and reading the old comic book.
It could be said that Izuku was captured in the story. At first he was confused, then amazed and finally content. While reading the book he couldn't believe that Batman was just a rich dude. No power, just martial arts and gadgets. The story was also amazing, in fact one of the best that he had read, and Midoriya liked reading a lot of books.
Of course he still couldn't aprove Batman's methods. He was too cruel and dark for his tasting. Looking at his clock Izuku realised with wide eyes it was already 1 am. For him, who never stayed up late, it was quiet the expierience. Thankfully it was Saturday so no school to worry about.
But that got Izuku's attention. Something that started to drift in his head.
"Are there even more of thes old comic books?"
Now the teenager knew for a fact he didn't have any more, but maybe he could find more flying around in the internet? Grabbing his phone he searched far and wide. Eventually his finds gave some hope.
"Spider-man? Superman? Iron-man?..."
Finding more and more of these old styled heroes gave Izuku more and more to read. He didn't expect there to be this much, books after books. He even found some old manga! Like Dragon Ball and Naruto.
All night Izuku's eyes stayed open. So many stories. So many lessons under those story. So many cool heroes. Some of those heroes had power, some didn't. It gave Izuku somewhat of a hope. More ideas in his head, gadgets, martial arts etc.
His heart clenched with excitement from every page he read.
"Izuku breakfast is ready!"
Inko Midoriya, Izuku's mother, yelled out from the kitchen. It was already close to 9 am and usually Izuku would wake up already. Something was off, but when Inko didn't hear any reply she grew slightly worried.
"Izuku?"
She yelled once again, deciding to go and comfront her son. Opening his door she looked around. Her gaze finally stopping at the bed, where Izuku was laying in, sleeping with some dark rings under his eyes, a phone in his hand clanched tightly.
Inko blinked a couple of times. She had never saw Izuku like this. Seeing how tired he looked, Inko decided to leave him be for now. She was somewhat worried about him, but for now she'll let that slide.
Izuku opened his eyes, gasping for air. He quickly sat on his bed, looking around widely. He felt confused and a little worried. He calmed down after a while, he just had a bad dream about Bakugo being captured by the Sludge villain. He paused, the room looked odly dark, normally it was bright from the sunlight coming in.
Looking down at his hand, he saw his phone. Checking the time he paled slightly, it was already 10 pm. The last thing he remembered was reading those old comic books and... And then it struck Izuku like a ton of bricks. He fell asleep close to 9 am, no wonder it was dark, he slept for such a long time. Going out of bed, the teenager made his way to the bathroom where he did his "morning" rituals. After a while he came out of the bathroom, looking around he found the apartment oddly quiet.
His question was answered when he heard snores from his mom's room. His mom just went to sleep that's all. Sighing he made his way to the kitchen. Stopping in the living room, he found a bowl of katsudan on the table, his favorite. Thanking his mom quietly for the meal, he quickly sat down and ate the whole thing.
Izuku quickly grew bored, he wasn't tired, he was full of energy actually. That was a problem as the house was quiet and he didn't feel like doing his homework. He stopped in the middle of his room, his mind going back to those old comic books. He remembered those heroes, he thought about just reading some more, but then a stupid idea crossed his mind. So stupid that nobody should even think of those things. He thought that maybe he could go out and be a "hero".
He sighed knowing that it was the worst idea he had ever thought of. He needed to clear his mind of those things, after all All Might said that he couldn't become a hero. Grabbing his clothes to change out of his pijamas, he decided to go on a walk to clear out his thoughts.
Looking himself in the mirror he checked out himself. The skinny boy wore a black T-shirt, unzipped green hoodie and black baggy pants. He nodded to himself, before putting on his red shoes and heading out.
The walk was peacfull, practicly no people walking around at this late of a hour. Izuku's mind started to clear up, as he walked around his neighborhood. In his walking he wondered a bit too far, now coming out of his neighborhood. He heard a scream, a womens scream. It was from his left, in an allyway.
Izuku jumped a bit, he didn't expect to hear a scream at this late of an hour. His senses kicking in, he quickly went into the allyway. Crouching behind some trash cans the green haired boy saw a truly terrifying sight. There pinned to the wall was a middle age women. Towering over her was a big man with a sinister smirk on his face.
"Now, now cutie, don't scream like that" the man said before slapping her right on the cheek. The Impact making her stumble to the ground with a groan.
Izuku cupped his hand, terrified he took a step back. What should he do? Call for a hero? No. On these street no heroes would patrol yet. The closest one would be too far to help. Maybe he should run? Izuku stopped when he thought of that. Run? That's not what a here would do. But what were the other options? He was a quirkless loser.
'After all All Might said that he could never become a her-'
Before he could finish his line of thought he saw it. The man tried to grab the now almost crying women. For a split second Izuku just stood there his eyes wide. Then he saw it, the look in those eyes. The women looked like him, scared and powerless. He didn't gave it a second thought. He knew what he should do, even if the idea sounded insane on paper.
Pulling the hoodie over his head, he quickly jumped into action. His legs moving before his mind fully caught on. Grabbing the lid of the trash can, Izuku bashed it against the mans skull. It made a screaching sound, the now pissed off man taking a few steps backwards from the suprise attack.
Growling under his breath, he spoke his tone menacing.
"Who do you think you are brat?"
Before Izuku could even make a sound, the person, a villain, started to transform. His face turned into that of a wolf, his hands becoming claws and a tail sprung out of his lower back. Midoriya took a gulp, a wolf quirk? His luck to pick a fight should be studied.
The wolf man jumped at him without a second thought. Izuku was scared, frozen in fear. He could only raise the trash can lid, as a make up shield. Unfortunately his "shield" didn't last a single strike from the powerfull claws. It tear throught it like a knife throught butter.
He screamed from the pain, as the claws made conntact with his skin. Leaving five claw marks on his torso, shredding his shirt and hoodie up the front. The wolf man started to laugh.
"Here I thought it was going to be some fight, but this? This is comedy! You're truly pathetic!"
The villain laughed even harder, stepping over Izuku's laying body. Making his way towards the women. However he was blinded for a second as the women, not wanting to be hurt, pulled out her phone and used the flash light to blind him for a second.
Izuku was barely concious, his body aching from the pain. He looked over the wolf man, now stopped by the women. His blurry vision couldn't pick up much, the only thing he saw was... terror. Terror in those eyes, while the women was sure brave she was truly scared. Izuku felt motivation inside of him. The pain fading away, he wanted to be a hero. He wanted to save her. He wanted to be a true hero.
"Oh darn it put that flash light away!"
The big man said, slapping the flash light out of the women's hands. His eyesight returning, he scowled. Before he could say another word however, he felt some weight on his back.
Izuku jumped up, his eyes flashing with determination. He jumped on the man's back, in his hands was the lid from the trash can he used earlier. Before in a brutal fashion, he smashed it over and over again against the wolf man's head.
If it wasn't a searious situation, it would look comical. Seeing a small boy on top of a wolf man smashing a trash lid. Eventually however Izuku was pulled by the sheer strenght of the man, grabbing him and shoving him to the ground, his trash lid making a clinging sound on the ground.
The man sneered, getting close to the skinny boy. He was about to speak, his mouth already forming words. But Izuku had other plans, he quickly threw a piece if some garbage at the man's face.
The wolf man made a gagging sound, as his nose picked up the scent of the garbage. It was izuku's plan, to suprise his opponent, to use his superrior senses against him. Barely standing up, Izuku took a step forwards, then another one, then another one. Picking up the trash lid from the ground, before once again smashing it against his face. This time however Izuku didn't stop, actually, he picked up another one. Now with 2 trash lids, dual weilding them, he smashed and smashed.
The wolf man winned, the pain getting worse and worse. The bad smell disorienting him even more. Even when backed against the brick wall Izuku didn't stop. He smashed more and more. Eventually his hands started to hurt, seeing that the man didn't move, he let go of the trash lids. Panting heavly, he saw the mans face, bashed in. His features slowly turning from a wolf to a normal human. Izuku almost puked, however he resisted the urge. He looked side ways at the women, she was covering at the dissplay.
The green haired boy put on a big smile, even though the women couldn't see his face, the almost glowing smile caught her attention.
"C-could you please call the police?"
Izuku asked in a dried and exhausted tone of voice. Seeing the women nodd through his blurry vision. Izuku quickly escaped the scene of action, not wanting to explain to the cops, why he was beating a man with a trash can lid.
The women now left alone in silence, she called the police, thinking over what she just saw.
