They stepped off the train and into the familiar sites. Home. It seemed like a lifetime since they left in the night for Cape Fullerton. So much had changed, it almost felt wrong that the station looked the same.

"ELIZABETH!" The air whirled around Rosemary as she came towards the with a force.

Elizabeth readied herself for a hug and instead, Rosemary grabbed her hand. Elizabeth looked up at Nathan with a slightly shocked expression. Nathan winked.

"Oh, Nathan! The ring is gorgeous! You did well. I'm so happy for you two, well you four!" At this she barreled into both Elizabeth and Nathan and scooped them into a big double hug.

"Uncle Lee!" Little Jack shouted as he ran into Lee's waiting arms.

"Hey little man! Are you feeling better?! It's so good to see you! Hey Allie. It's great to see you too."

Rosemary next grabbed Allie and gave her a big hug, she then grabbed Little Jack from Lee and ushered them all to their waiting car.

Lee went with Nathan to grab their bags for the car.

"We'll drop your bags by your houses, then we have a welcome back celebration waiting for you at the saloon."

Elizabeth saw a pained expression on Nathan's face as he was putting their bags in the car.

"Oh, Rosemary, you shouldn't have, we don't need any celebrations."

"It's nothing big. I see that face Nathan Grant, don't you mind. It's just a few people in town that want to welcome you back and give you congratulations in person."

Nathan winced, and Elizabeth shared a look of solace with him.

"Thank you, Rosemary, we appreciate it," Elizabeth offered.

"It's not everyday we get to celebrate a homecoming, a new clinic, AND an engagement all at once." Rosemary winked as they all got settled in the car.

Elizabeth's heart just soared as she took in all of Hope Valley as they drove home. She looked over at Nathan, and saw that he too was reveling at being home. She squeezed his hand, and he gave her his big lopsided grin that she loved so much. As they drove into the main part of town she waved at friends as they passed. As they neared the jail, they saw a certain deputy crouched down, holding onto Scout's collar. He looked up, straight at Allie and gave her a huge smile. Allie beamed back and waved. Elizabeth felt her hand being squeezed a little too hard.

"Nathan, honey, it's okay." She whispered over to him as she saw the look of consternation on his face.

He looked down at their hands, "Oh, sorry," as he loosened his grip.

Elizabeth chuckled, this was definitely going to be an interesting adventure now that they had returned. It seemed that the time apart did nothing but make two young hearts grow fonder.

They stopped in front of Elizabeth's house. "You can let us all out here," Nathan said. "I'll carry all the luggage in and help Elizabeth and Jack get settled. Allie and I can carry our bags home later."

"The ladies and I made sure to stock your pantry and ice box for you, so you should be set for a few days." Rosemary said.

"Thank you so much Rosemary!" Elizabeth gave her another big hug.

"We just can't tell you how happy we are to have you all home. You come over when you're all set and we can walk into town together to the saloon." Rosemary gave her one last squeeze and Lee gave Nathan a quick hand shake after they had carried all the bags into the house.

"We'll see you all soon." Lee said as he put his arm around Rosemary and walked her over to their house.

Elizabeth took a step into her house and took a big breath in.

Jack followed Allie, as she carried his bag for him up to his room.

Nathan embraced Elizabeth from behind, "Welcome home sweetheart."

Elizabeth turned to face him and put her arms around his neck. "Soon this will be our home. Unless, we move into your house. We haven't really discussed that yet, have we?"

"Well, since your house has three rooms and mine has two, makes sense for us to move here." Nathan reasoned.

"There it is. Nathan, we've made our first big decision for our married life."

Nathan chuckled. "So, we did, now if you don't mind, I'd like to complete another first before our kids come back down the steps. I'd like to have my first kiss with my fiancée in our soon-to-be family home." With that Nathan leaned down and gave her a kiss full of all the love he had for his soon-to-be wife. He only let go once he had heart the pitter patter of feet coming back down the steps.

"Oh gross, is that how it's going to be all the time now?" Allie stated as she caught the very end of their kiss.

"Yup, kiddo, better get used to it!" Nathan winked.

Though Allied rolled her eyes, she also gave them a huge smile.

"So, Allie, Elizabeth and I were just talking, and we thought it would make sense for us to move in here with her and Jack, once we marry. That way you and Jack each keep your own room."

Allie smiled, "I like that idea."

"Great kiddo," Nathan said as he reached over and gave her a big hug.

"Mountie Nathan, can I go see Pal? I'm sure he missed me."

Nathan looked over at Elizabeth. "I was actually thinking of checking on Newt and Sargeant on our way to the saloon. I could take him for a quick visit with Pal."

Elizabeth scrunched her face at him. "I'm sure you were, and I'm sure it has nothing to do with delaying going to the saloon with everyone waiting on us."

Nathan merely shrugged and again gave her his lop sided grin. How could she say no to that face?

"Fine."

"Yay!" Jack exclaimed.

"But just a quick visit, okay?"

"Okay, mama."

Elizabeth turned her gaze to Nathan.

"Okay mom," he winked and went out the door with Jack.

"Boys!" Allie rolled her eyes and shook her head as she followed after Jack and her dad.

Elizabeth shook her head and giggled, it felt good to be back home and laugh again. She followed after her family to the Coulters.

Rosemary filled them in on the Hope Valley news as they walked into town.

Jack and Nathan veered off to the stables, as the rest continued onto the saloon. Elizabeth saw Allie's attention get drawn by something or rather someone by the jail. She glanced over at Elizabeth, "Go on, we'll see you at the saloon."

Allie answered with a big smile and ran off to say hello to Oliver. Rosemary and Elizabeth both watched the awkwardly cute reunion. It was clear they both wanted to hug each other, but ended in an awkward hand shake.

"How's Nathan handling that?" Lee asked.

"He's working on being okay with it, I think." Elizabeth replied.

"Heh, I bet. Goldie is not allowed to even look at a boy till she's 20."

"Good luck with that." Rosemary admonished and shared a look and laugh with Elizabeth.

As soon as they stepped into the saloon, Elizabeth was happily overwhelmed by friends hugging her and welcoming her home. Florence and Molly excitedly admired her ring.

Elizabeth fought tears as she hugged Faith. "I'm so glad we were able to make this happen and bring you all home." Fatih said as she squeezed Elizabeth tightly.

Everyone welcomed Elizabeth and gave her congratulations and inquired as to where the rest of her family was. As she went from one pair of welcoming arms to another, she began to notice a woman sitting in the back of the saloon, intently watching her with curiosity.

Elizabeth found Rosemary and inquired if she knew she knew who the woman was. She appeared to want to talk to Elizabeth but remained seated in the back.

"I'm not sure, I can check later with Hickam."

The door to the saloon opened and she heard her son before she saw him.

"Allie, Pal licked my hand as I was giving him a treat! He was so happy to see me."

Elizabeth forgot about the woman and turned to watch her family come in behind her. They were soon flanked by all their friends doing their rounds of welcomes and congratulations, just as they had done with Elizabeth. She saw Oliver scoot in behind them and stand to the side near Allie. She glanced over at Nathan, she could tell this had not gone unnoticed by her fiancé. She gave him a knowing smile. She looked over at Allie, who smiled back at her, but then she saw her eyes move past her over to where the unknown woman was sitting.

"Grandma?!"

Nathan paused mid-sentence with Lucas and followed Allie's gaze, "Mom?!"

Both Allie and Nathan excitedly made their way over to where Mrs. Grant sat smiling with pure love at her son and granddaughter.
