Mistakes
2 days to go...
It was 6 a.m. Evan had had another night without nightmares, but he couldn't help his old habit of waking up at an early hour, and he wasn't sleeping very well. Feeling Fredbear watching him, Evan took him in his arms and turned his face towards him.
'Good morning, buddy, how are you?' the boy asked.
'Good morning Evan, don't you think it's strange to ask a stuffed bear how are you? But if you want to know my answer, I'm fine, I've been trying to keep you from having nightmares all night, did you sleep well?" asked the golden plush.
"Thanks to you I had a night without nightmares, thank you very much my golden friend," Evan said and slowly got out of bed.
The next hours of the day passed quite normally, Michael hadn't scared Evan because he was out with his friends, but he knew that his brother would try to scare Evan first thing when he came home. Evan walked calmly around the house, it was 11 o'clock and he was going to the pizza shop in a couple of hours. As he walked around the house he saw Elizabeth having a tea party with the Circus Baby plush her father had just given her, he quickly walked away, not wanting to get involved in his brother's game.
His father, who was going to the pizza shop in the afternoon, was now holed up in his study trying to make new animatronics for the new Circus Baby's pizza world he was planning to open, which Evan guessed wouldn't open for at least 2 years because it was such a new project, but of course his father always did what he set his mind to, didn't he?
His mom had gone to the chemistry lab today and it didn't look like she would be back before 4:00...
It was 1:30 p.m. Evan was walking to Freddy Fazbear's pizza shop because it was a few blocks from their house.
After 10 minutes of walking he finally arrived at the pizza shop and was about to go inside when he met Cindy. Cindy was a girl with orange hair and green eyes. She was the same age as Evan and of course they were in the same class, but he had hardly ever chatted with her.
'Evan hello are you coming in, do you want to stay here and chat with me instead?' Evan asked, he saw Cindy blush slightly.
'I'm sorry Cindy but I have to go inside, my parents are inside and they are waiting for me' he lied. Her happy face fell and she asked Evan to stay with her in a sad, even pleading manner.
Evan was not normally the angry type, in fact he was often called a cry baby, but today his patience was limited and Cindy was about to use up the last crumbs of it.
'Cindy didn't you hear what I said, I told you that my family is waiting for me inside and you are still telling me to hang out with me, so if you want someone to hang out with you, ask any of your friends, I don't even remember being friends with you!' he yelled. She got tears in her eyes and turned around and walked away.
Cassidy was about to arrive at the pizza shop when she saw Evan chatting with Cindy, so she quickly hid somewhere and listened to them. She heard Cindy wanting to hang out with Evan. Cassidy was getting angry, they had promised each other to meet Evan at the pizza place and Cindy was stealing Evan's time and she was about to go out and put her in her place when she saw Evan's calm face suddenly turn angry and then she heard yelling.
Cassidy was shocked, it was the first time she had ever seen her best friend yell at someone and it made quite an impression on her, she realized that Evan looked pretty scary when he was angry. As Cindy ran away from him she passed close to where he was hiding and heard the orange haired girl crying. Evan turned around and headed for the pizza place as if nothing had happened and Cassidy took the opportunity to quickly come out of hiding and join her friend.
Fredbear, who had been watching the whole thing closely, was speechless, of course he didn't have a tongue, but he was quite surprised. It was the second time Evan had been so angry with someone, the first time was his brother Michael, but his brother deserved every word. The girl Cindy just wanted to spend time with Evan. Of course she incurred Evan's wrath and walked away crying her heart out. She realized that Evan had bored her too much and turned and started walking back to the pizza place. When Cassidy called out to her from behind, she turned and wished her a happy 'good day'. Cassidy's confused face suddenly turned happy as she hugged her best friend and returned the greeting. Fredbear noticed Cassidy's puzzled face, she had listened to the whole conversation, so she had witnessed everything in secret, and of course she must have been surprised that her best friend and the nicest person could suddenly shout at someone.
Fredbear felt that there was something special between the two of them, as if they complemented each other. The two teenagers entered the pizza shop, of course Evan had the plushie in his left hand so the three of them went in together.
Cassidy couldn't stop thinking about what had just happened, Evan yelling at someone was the last thing she expected, and she wondered what could have made Evan so angry: could it have been the dreams he was having, the way his brother kept scaring him, or the way his parents ignored him?
Inside the house was full of children and their parents, Fredbear and Springbonnie were singing on the stage as usual: the children were gathered in front of the 2 animatronics, watching the bear and the rabbit in amazement. Evan and Cassidy sat in their usual seats at the loneliest table in the far corner on the right. There was a chess set on the table. Evan turned to Cassidy and grinned, asking if he wanted to play a hand. Cassidy saw his grinning face, laughed and accepted his offer.
Two hours had passed and they were still playing chess, they had played 10 games and Evan had won 8 of them. Although Cassidy played chess well, he could not get the upper hand over Evan, the boy was like a chess prodigy, anticipating Cassidy's moves and eating his pieces quickly, and this made Cassidy nervous. Of course, he was able to win 2 games against Evan, but his stress did not decrease even a little. Cassidy couldn't help thinking that Evan was looking down on him, but when he looked at the boy's face, those thoughts vanished because Evan was smiling kindly at Cassidy.
They didn't know how many hours they had played chess at that table. When Cassidy's father came to take him home they realized that the clock had actually gone too far, Cassidy asked his father for a few minutes and when his father walked away he turned towards Evan and words came out of his mouth that made Evan feel uneasy at first but then comforted him; Evan I saw and heard you yelling at Cindy today even though I didn't want to, it's the first time I've seen you like this, what happened to you and why are you so angry? I'm your best friend you know that and I'll always listen to you if you want to tell me, you know that right?
Evan's face fell and he started to speak. 'I'm sick of everything cass I don't know if you understand me but everything sucks. My parents ignore me like I was never born, all they do is send me to school, make sure I eat and buy me clothes but I'm invisible. When Michael is rude to me, even when he hits me, they don't say anything to him. But the worst thing is that the dreams I have drive me crazy every night but every night I have to deal with the nightmares in the same room and from day 1 to day 5 they get more aggressive and faster and of course it gets harder every night I wake up screaming at night but not one person comes to me wondering why I'm screaming I feel so lonely at home I feel so stressed when I'm not with you or Charlie I feel so stressed' she shouted.
Cassidy hadn't expected Evan to raise his voice like that, she was again quite surprised, but Evan's experience had broken her heart. The Afton family looked like a perfect family from the outside, but it wasn't, the middle son was ignored like a ghost and it was overwhelming for a boy of almost 12 years old.
'Evan, no matter what you go through, know that I'm always there for you and I always will be, do you understand me? We will be with you forever, do you understand me no matter what.'
Evan was thinking about Cassidy's words "We will be with you forever, do you understand me no matter what." It was like a marriage proposal because being with someone forever was the only time to use it. Evan shook himself out of his thoughts and said, "Of course Cass, we will be together forever, no matter what happens, not even death can stop us.
Cassidy hugged Evan as her father arrived and Evan hugged her back tightly and then they parted. While Cassidy went home, Evan stayed at the pizzeria and waited for his father to finish his work. Towards 5 p.m., his father finished his work, Evan and his father got into the car and set off for home.
When they got home, his father didn't say hello to Evan or ask him how his day was going. Once inside, Evan went straight upstairs to his room and read a book as he always did while waiting for dinner to arrive. After he had eaten dinner, it was quite late and it was already time for bed, so he slowly and reluctantly got into bed.
'Evan, your day seems to have been quite eventful?' Fredbear asked.
'It has been my friend it has been but it has been a rather chaotic day as I will not forget today, I need to go to sleep even if I don't want to mate good night' the boy replied.
"Good night little buddy good night have a nightmare free night" said the little golden bear.
1 day left...
It was 6 o'clock in the morning and Evan was already awake, this had become a routine that he probably wouldn't break until the day he died.
Until 9 o'clock everything went on like any other day, today was Sunday and of course Evan's favorite cartoon series Scooby-Doo was about to start, so he quickly went down to the living room and sat on the couch in front of the TV.
When he turned on the TV, the show had already started: on Sundays, the show started at 9 am and ran until 1 pm, so he sat in front of the TV for quite a long time. Evan only watched TV on Sundays, he wasn't usually that keen on TV shows, but he really liked Scooby-Doo. His 2 favorite characters in the series were Shaggy and of course Scooby Doo. He loved watching 4 people and 1 talking dog solve mysteries, he even thought Shaggy looked strangely like his father and couldn't help wondering why.
His day was going well, he was going upstairs after 1:30 in the afternoon because his cartoon series was over, but his brother scared him with a fox mask from an unseen corner of the hallway, but Evan, who was not crying like before, surprised Michael, of course, he did not forget to make fun of him. After 2 minutes, his brother left him and went downstairs, and Evan, shaking off his fear, went to his room with the plush bear dangling in his hand. Evan, who wanted to spend the day being a little bit safe, thought that probably wouldn't happen when Elizabeth barged into his room.
Elizabeth burst into the room saying 'Evan! You have to play games with me today.
Irritated, Evan warned his little brother, "Elizabeth, how many times have I told you not to come into my room like that, it's not good to trespass in people's rooms." But his carrot-headed brother pretended not to hear him and continued to demand that his brother play games with him.
Angry, Evan got up, grabbed Elizabeth by the arm and dragged her out of her room, slammed the door in her face and locked it. The girl barely realized what was happening and it was the first time she had ever seen her brother do such a thing. With tears in her eyes, she ran to her room and played alone for the rest of the day, crying.
It was 10 o'clock at night and tomorrow was Evan's 12th birthday, so the boy, who was not at all excited about it, had been talking to his bear in a whisper for a couple of hours because if anyone passing by his room heard him talking to himself, they might think he was crazy.
After a while Evan went to sleep and wished Fredbear good night, as he had done for the last few days.
