"I'm the best!" I yelled as I ran from all the people chasing me around the field. I'm Simon Potter, the eldest child of Mom and Dad. The definitive best potter, yep that's me. Followed behind Eveline and then my parents. That's what I've been told at least and who would lie to me? One of the most famous people in wizarding Britain.

Yep, I'm the best. Strongest of my little group, and on top of that now the oldest of us three with Neville being the youngest. and well technically he was the youngest but no one counted him. He's just the freak and no one cares to count.

"Hey, who is that?" Ron suddenly asks me pointing to the tree. And there sitting under the tree watching us with his horrifying eyes sat the freak, my brother, Harry.

"Oh him? He's no one." I said with complete certainty, "He's just some loser who doesn't want to play." With that I try and get the others to join back into the game of tag we had been playing. But as we did so I could feel something was off.

"OI freak, stop it!" I yelled over to Harry, as he kept watching the game unfold, in response Harry shrugged at me and turned to face the empty part of the field, ignoring me completely. But my yelling caused something I didn't expect. Now more people kept paying attention to him, that in itself wasn't bad, but they now stopped paying attention to me! How could they? What's so interesting about him and not me?

As the rage began to build in the heart of Simon someone did what would cause him to act in a very ill-mannered fashion. One small blonde girl walked over and sat near him. That was the final straw, that did it, HOW COULD this happen?!

So I then decided to go and see what was so interesting about the freak. "Come on, let's go see what he's up to." I spat out while reaching for my practice as we walked over. I gave Neville a look and reached for my practice wand in my right pocket.

"What do you want?" Harry asked in a drawn-out manner as he turned to face the group that was now surrounding him. "What do the esteemed birthday children need from the freak?"

Somehow, despite his referring to himself as a freak did not have the same result that I had wished for. As I had been saying it to belittle and hurt him. Yet somehow his statement only caused my heart to ache and feel like I had made a grave mistake.

"Don't talk to him like that! Do you know who this is?" Ron questioned.

"Oh and who is he?" Harry questioned, staring directly into the eyes of the redhead.

But before Ron could retort, Eveline spoke up, "Harry, what are you doing over here?"

"Just enjoying the sun, beloved sister." He responded with a charming smile, "On the amazing birthday of my amazing siblings." Then his unsettling eyes came to rest on me, those demented eyes seemed to reach into the depths of my soul. It caused me to feel something that I, one of the most famous, revered, and protected people in magical Britain, felt fear. A feeling of dread settled over me and in the deepest parts of my soul, I could tell it wanted me to apologize and seek refuge from my seemingly weak younger brother. I bottled up this feeling and brought my gaze to the girl who had sat next to the anomaly which was my brother.

"Greengrass, what are you doing over here with the freak?" I asked, she then moved her eyes off of Eveline and the Davis girl who were standing next to each other.

"Me?" She was surprised that she was now the focus of the small group surrounding her and Harry. "I was just wondering why he was all alone." She said in a quiet tone, evidently not enjoying explaining herself to us.

"Well he won't be alone now that you've joined him, but don't you know he's contagious?" I said, trying to take her away from Harry, "You won't want his freakishness to rub off on you, come back and play with us." With that being said, I offer my hand to bring her up and away from the tree.

"I'm okay, Thanks," She said almost immediately, and then, she did something even more infuriating, she turned to Harry and gave him a small smile and tilt of her head. How dare she! I'm the boy who lived! She was just offered to become my friend! Or Eveline's friend as the Davis girl had done after arriving with Greengrass. But no she chose the freak, the one who didn't belong inside the family, how dare she!

What I did next was unexpected even to myself. I drew my wand, while not a true wand, it did allow some basic control over magic and cast a spell at the girl. Then with a speed that I didn't know he possessed, Harry pushed Greengrass away and took the spell to his back. It was only a very weak and terribly cast stunner, and as such all it did to Harry was cause him to be blasted away yet keep his consciousness. After rolling across the field a few times he went still. At that moment I thought that I had gone too far, maybe pushed him too much, and now might even get into trouble on my birthday of all days. But as I thought of what I had done I lost track of what Harry was up to. And so he was now upon me with fury in his discolored eyes, then I was suddenly on the ground with Harry on top of me with his fist raised ready to strike me. But then something hit Harry from behind, a white flash of light and he was suddenly frozen in place. I looked up to see that both Neville and Eveline had pulled out their wands and fired a body-locking hex at Harry.

"What do you think you were doing?" Ron questioned the now frozen boy, "Attacking Simon like that! On his birthday! He was right about you being a freak and loser!" With that he kicked dirt at the boy. Then seeing no one stop him, all the others, in an attempt to become better friends with me, or seeing how freakish he was, began to do the same. With me, Neville, and Eveline standing off to the side not interfering. But as Neville began to speak up and tell them to stop a sudden pulse of magic could be felt. The pulse was so powerful that it knocked down all of Harry's attackers, and freed him from the binding spell. And then without a word, he attempted to walk away. But I refused to allow him to attack my friends like that and go unpunished.

So I sent another spell at Harry's back, this time when it hit Harry and subsequently froze him in place so he didn't fall.

"Where do you think you were going?" I questioned as we walked around to speak face-to-face with him.

"How did you break the spell?" Eveline questioned while now poking him with her wand, trying to get him to react in the same way as before. This did nothing though, all she got from it was a smoldering glare.

"KIDS! Time for gifts!" Yelled Lilly from the porch

"Looks like you got off easy this time, freak." I say as we all then run off to open the presents that await us. This ought to teach him, I thought. This ought to make him remember who's the better potter.
