My Sensei is an Assassin

Chapter 08

Student Time

...

Previously on this story,

Nagisa had a debate with his students on what truly is a hero and what it means to carry a legacy. Midoriya considers a lot regarding whether he should carry on All Might's Legacy or not.

NARRATOR'S POV

Four months have passed since the start of the school year, and July has come. Only one week remains until the first-term exams. The teachers have taught them almost half of the syllabus, and the students are feeling pressure to start studying for their exams. In these four months, every teacher has put everything into teaching them and preparing for exams.

Rio taught them English as well as Spanish, enabling effective communication among individuals during challenging situations when their native language might not be feasible. Additionally, Rio recommended various literary masterpieces for educational purposes, enriching their understanding of literature.

Karma taught them college-level exam math questions that can be solved by junior high or high school students with good understanding. The motive for these questions was to increase their thinking and calculating power. In this way they can solve problems from different angles.

Manami and Takebayashi engaged their students in science by using real-life experiments and hands-on activities. This approach not only made the subject more engaging but also helped students deepen their understanding of scientific concepts. By participating actively in experiments, students enhanced their skills in formulating answers to questions and applying their knowledge in practical situations. This method fostered a collaborative and interactive learning environment, making science more accessible and enjoyable for the students.

Nagisa played a pivotal role in helping others understand and connect with history by teaching them visualisation techniques. He encouraged them to immerse themselves in historical events by suggesting various period dramas that depicted these moments realistically. Through these narratives, he aimed to bring the past to life, making it more relatable and engaging for those eager to learn about history.

Ritsu taught them how to penetrate different firewalls and also how to detect if the firewalls are penetrated or not. The best way to protect the firewalls is to know how to break it. She also emphasised the importance of regularly updating security measures to prevent any potential breaches.

Yukiko had taught them Japanese literature and poetry, sharing classic works from different time periods to provide a deeper understanding of the cultural context in which they were written. By delving into these literary masterpieces, she hoped to spark a passion for language and storytelling in her students. Yukiko believed that by immersing her students in the beauty of Japanese literature, they would not only improve their language skills but also gain a greater appreciation for the rich history and traditions of Japan. Through her teaching, she aimed to inspire a lifelong love for learning and exploration of diverse cultures.

Hinata and Isogai instructed their students in essential free-running techniques that aimed to enhance their agility and evasion skills. These skills are crucial for survival in threatening circumstances, like when they find themselves being chased by adversaries or trying to traverse risky landscapes. In addition to free-running, they provided lessons in parkour but emphasised the importance of obtaining their permission before practicing outside. This caution stemmed from past experiences where they had made poor decisions, and they wanted to ensure that no one repeated the same mistakes. The lessons not only focused on physical abilities but also instilled a sense of responsibility and awareness in the students.

The course studies are progressing exceptionally well, showcasing a vibrant atmosphere of learning and growth. Under the dedicated guidance of Sugino and Chiba, the Hero students have undergone rigorous training that has sharpened their reflexes and honed their dodging techniques, resulting in a remarkable display of agility. They now exhibit an impressive ability to deftly evade multiple bullets and projectiles coming at them from various angles with astonishing ease and confidence. With the foundational reflexive training successfully completed, the focus for the upcoming semester will shift towards extensive Quirk training. Meanwhile, Muramatsu, Yoshida, Manami, and Takebayashi have each successfully conducted their specialised training sessions, paving the way for the next phase, which involves intensive practice and challenging tests ahead.

Currently their P.E. session is going on with Nagisa and Isogai.

NAGISA'S POV

It's been 4 months since they came. They came for different reasons, but now they are helping each other in growing stronger. It's the best feeling a teacher can feel, seeing your students helping each other and growing together as a team. Every time I saw my students grow, it always felt new; I can't get used to it.

Each one of them is special in their own right.

Shinso excels at manipulating and provoking others, which is precisely why he stands out as a star student of Rio and Karma. Whenever Karma comes to the class, physically, not virtually, he brings items that ignite a spark in his eyes while draining the life out of ours. Although Shinso has never used these items on us, he undoubtedly employs them against bullies and thugs on Sundays. He frequently applies his manipulative tactics on students, including myself, honing his skills because his Quirk is invaluable for interrogation and hostage situations. It's absurd that society prioritises flashiness over actual utility in a hero.*SIGH* I truly can't comprehend this backward mentality of the society.

Tsubaki is Ritsu's star student. She is also quirkless like Midoriya, but she never wanted to become a hero; she just wanted to study different things until she died. She is quite a fast learner; even without having a Quirk, she can compete against those with high-IQ Quirks. She adapts to every program and firewall after getting defeated by them only once or twice. Itona was going to recruit her for an internship even in her high school if she showed any promise. She was also the first one to point out that Ritsu is an AI with some evidence and theory in school one day, but we countered them because it's a surprise for graduation.

Saito, like his brother, is driven by a strong ambition to become a doctor. He firmly believes that doctors save far more lives in a single year than any hero could throughout their entire lifetime. Unlike his brother, who has a history of delinquency and continues to exhibit troubling behaviour, Saito is exceptionally well-mannered. He stands out as Takebayashi and Manami's top student, leading them to confidently consider offering him an internship position after his first year at university for practical experience in Takebayashi's family hospital.

Kaminari exhibits some foolish behaviour and can be similar to Okajima, though he isn't a total pervert; his actions are more in line with Maehara's. Their shared traits make sense given they are cousins. However, after a particular incident where he mistakenly opened the girls' changing room door instead of the boys', the girls beat the shit out of him. Once Kaminari told them why he accidentally opened their door, they forgave him. When I spoke to the girls about the incident, they said that it was already enough humiliation to tell them and didn't want him to feel any more embarrassment by telling me, so I respected their wishes and moved on from the topic.

Everyone forgave Kaminari, with the exception of Jiro; she refused to speak to him directly again and consistently kept her distance. This had a significant impact on him, as following that incident, he ceased making perverted comments or participating in inappropriate behaviour.

Speaking of Jiro, her musical background gives her an exceptional ability to hear and identify subtle audio differences. This talent, combined with her quirk, makes her highly skilled in information gathering and terrain mapping. With the right training in infiltration, she has the potential to excel as a formidable spy.

Reiko Yanagi reminds me of Kirara-san a lot. It's justified enough because she lived most of her life with her. She is Kirara-san's older sister's daughter. She was just 6 years old when her mother and father died in a car accident in front of her.

.
(Flashback)

It was a winter night when they were going back home when a truck containing large rods collided with them. Her father tried to hit the brake, but nothing happened. The car's bonnet collided so badly that it looked like it was cut down; her father died instantly as a result.

Reiko survived because of her mother using her quirk to protect Reiko. A rod was piercing her, but she was still using her quirk for protection.

"R-reiko...don't... worry *COUGH*... You... will be... safe." Her mother was saying it with all her strength.

"But mother, what about you?" Young Reiko asked in a concerning voice.

"Don't... worry... I... will be... okay. I will... always... be with you..." And she died there, leaving a false hope in her child's heart, not knowing the consequences of it.

She stayed there until authorities came for rescue. She was rescued and taken to the hospital. She had a concussion in her head.

After a day, she woke up. Authorities had called her relatives who were nearby, and her grandparents came first.

"Huh, where... am I?" That was the first thing she asked.

Her grandparents hugged her really hard. Tears were coming out of both of their eyes.

"Reiko, we're glad... You're safe." Her grandma expressed her feelings.

"Grandma, Grandpa, why are you crying?" She asked confusedly.

"Reiko, didn't you remember what happened? There was... an accident."

To which she remembered everything: her father's corpse, her mother's last action, and her last words. She started crying after remembering everything.

Police waited for her to stop, and when she stopped crying, they started to ask some questions.

"Hello, I am Detective Nomura, and I am investigating your parent's case. Would you mind telling us exactly what happened back there?" The detective asked in a friendly tone.

To which she nodded and said, "We were going back home after meeting with my grandparents. On the way home, a drunk driver crashed into our car, causing the accident that took my..." The detective listened attentively, taking notes as she recounted the tragic events of that fateful night. "But where is my mother? She should also be alive."

To which her grandfather, with a heavy heart, informed her that her mother is also dead. She threw a tantrum because of it and said, "NO, no, no. You're lying. You all are lying. My mother is alive; she should be alive. She said she would be with me always." Everyone was trying to calm her down, but she was not listening to anyone; suddenly, she lost her consciousness.

"Doctor, what happened?" Her grandmother asked.

"I think her mind couldn't handle such shocking news just after waking up. But importantly, I have to call another doctor; he is a psychiatrist for children. I hope what I am assuming is false." The doctor muttered the last word to himself, took out his phone, and called the receptionist to send the child psychiatrist to this room.

"What is it, doc?" the detective asked, concerned for the child.

"I believe she is experiencing a form of mental instability that might prevent her from accepting her mother's death, regardless of whether we show her the body. It's rare, but not that much. We need to be prepared for that possibility," the doctor stated firmly, a serious look on his face. "Children facing such tragic events struggle immensely, especially when it involves losing a parent."The detective nodded in understanding, realising the delicate situation they were dealing with.

The psychiatrist came, and the doctor explained to him the situation. He said that he has to talk to her in private. Everyone reluctantly agreed and left the room. After 10 minutes, he came and informed them that their fear had become reality.

Everyone was thinking of the best course of action for her when Kirara-san came.

"Mom, Dad, where is Reiko?" She asked in a hurry.

They explained to her the situation of Reiko and warned her to not mention anything about her mother.

She agreed and opened the door. Reiko saw her and exclaimed, "MOM!" Everyone was shocked hearing that and also went inside the room.

"What did you say?" Kirara-san was shocked at that.

"Mom, you are alive. I knew it. I knew that you wouldn't break your promise." Young Reiko said excitedly.

"Excuse me, dear. I have to do some check-up on your mom. You don't mind, do you?" The psychiatrist said, taking Kirara-san with him.

"What was that, doc? Why did you tell her that I am her mother?" She asked angrily.

"Because she thinks of you as her mother," the psychiatrist said in a serious tone.

"What do you mean, doc?"

"I asked for her mother's photo, and you look exactly like her in some way. For a child of her age, facial recognition is difficult. For her mental stability, I am recommending you act as her mother. I know what I am asking is—"

"Don't worry, doc. I was already planning to adopt her, as I doubt anyone on her paternal side will step up given her condition. On her maternal side, I'm the only one capable of supporting both of us. Now I've just found the solid reason to move forward with it."

"Kirara, are you sure about that? Living a normal life unmarried with a daughter will be quite difficult." Her father suggested.

"Don't worry, Dad. I am self-sufficient, and I want someone as a partner who knows this and still wants to marry me. And you know that I can't become a mother."

She filed forms for her adoption and made her 'Reiko Hazama,' but Reiko still used her former last name for introductions, and when asked about that, she couldn't tell. So everyone adjusted to it.

Two years later, Kirara-san was asked for a date from her old college friend, who had now become a colleague. She eagerly accepted because she had always had feelings for him. Months passed, and with an anniversary approaching, she decided it was time to find out if his feelings for her were genuine. So, she boldly revealed her secret to him.

"I wanted to tell you something serious, Tetsuya-kun. It's important for our relationship."

"I also wanted to tell you a secret of mine. I don't know if you would still continue being with me or not after hearing that."

"Listen carefully," she states, taking a deep breath to steady herself. "I have a daughter, Tetsuya-kun, and I can't get pregnant anymore. If you truly love me, then tell me—what is your answer?"

He collapsed on the ground. He had an expression of surprise; he closed his eyes and started laughing. Kirara-san was shocked at his reaction.

"Hey, why are you laughing?" She asked.

He regained his composure and stood up firmly, declaring, "My secret is quite similar, though it doesn't involve a daughter. I have a condition known as azoospermia, in which sperm ejaculation is obstructed. As a result, I cannot become a father, and I intended to share this with you."

After that, she confidently shared everything with him. On their anniversary, he took the next step and proposed to her. Following their marriage, Reiko embraced a new last name, yet she introduces herself as 'Reiko Yanagi.' While she has no issue with being called 'Reiko Okuma,' it has become a reflexive response. As a result, she encouraged others to call her by her first name.

(Flashback End)
.

Shinso and Reiko had known each other since childhood and shared a bond as cousins and childhood friends. He was acutely aware of her condition, which is why he proactively redirected the conversation to her mother during discussions with others. His protectiveness intensified whenever her past came up, as he firmly instructed everyone to steer clear of any questions related to her mother.

Ryu Takahashi is a capable and intelligent boy with a creative spirit. While he may come across as shy, his talents are undeniable and often evident in his work and interactions. Although his reserved nature occasionally holds him back from fully showcasing his abilities, those who truly know him see the potential he possesses. As he begins to open up to his friends and teachers, there is a strong assurance that, with time, he will become more confident in sharing his gifts with a wider audience.

Michiru Honcho stands in stark contrast to Ryu; she is an extrovert while he remains an introvert. They have been childhood friends, and she is the only person with whom he truly opens up. Michiru informed me that Ryu is the sole heir to his father's company, which comes with immense expectations that stifle his ability to express his feelings and opinions. Whenever Ryu feels overwhelmed by everything he keeps inside, he turns to Michiru, who serves as his emotional anchor. Determined to help him, she is committed to supporting him in every way she can.

Last but definitely not least is Green Bean, Izuku Midoriya. He is a hero aspirant with an unwavering commitment to achieving his dream. Throughout his life, he has faced injustice, experienced discrimination, and endured despair, all of which fuel his determination to become a true hero. He understands deeply what a hero represents: a beacon of hope who inspires others to fight for their lives. Just as All Might did for him, Midoriya aims to be the hero that people yearn for—the one who saves them and instills hope in their hearts.

His childhood was just like mine. I endured relentless humiliation and scrutiny due to my mother for years; while she's changed now, those 15 years were nothing short of hell. I also wanted a hero to save me, but the one who saved me was actually a yellow octopoid whom I had to kill. It took me so much time to get over the guilt of killing him thanks to his Guide and my friends.

He also has the skills to become a great analyst if he wants to. But there's another skill he has that he is not aware of, and that's the skill of AN ASSASSIN. He learnt all of the techniques related to assassination in just 2 and a half months and showed interest in learning similar techniques just like me in the past. The day I learnt that he hid his bloodlust was quite a surprise and shock for me.

.
(Flashback)

It was the next day, Monday, after our big operation. After taking my math class, I was exhausted and was drinking coffee in the classroom.

I went towards the window to enjoy the scenery of the outside. I was relaxing because there was no bloodlust emanating towards me. But you know an assassin never keeps his guard down, especially not when there are those nearby who want to take your life, and my assassin instincts were correct; Izuku had nearly plunged his knife into my neck.

It was just a few millimetres away from my neck. If I hadn't ducked rightwards, his knife would have cut my neck just like butter.

I was shocked, not that he tried to kill me, but the way he executed it. It was all too professional. I thought I was seeing a younger version of myself during the start of the Assassination Classroom program. Not just me; everyone there was also shocked that they did not notice him.

I composed myself and disarmed him. After that I ruffled his hair and said, "Good job, Izuku. You had nearly won your 1 week of relaxation. You hid your bloodlust and used stealth very well."

Izuku was surprised hearing that. "Really, I did? I didn't even know I was hiding my bloodlust. About that stealth, I was really very good when it came to hiding and sneaking because of bullies."

"He hid his bloodlust without even realising it? That's eerily similar to what Pro-Assassin and we do. I need to train him to channel these techniques into heroic efforts because we cannot afford to let another Reaper come into existence." This thought was clear in my mind; I hadn't even noticed I had zoned out.

"...Sensei! Are you listening?" Izuku was asking me concerningly.

"Yeah. I was just thinking something."

Isogai and others told me that he gives off an aura and vibe just like mine. To which I was just feeling proud.

(Flashback End)
.

Now let's talk about everyone's weapon and sparring prowess:

Shinso is quite good with mobility; therefore, we advise him to carry lightweight weapons such as daggers, throwing knives, and two sets of guns. We are going to give him special cable training, which Isogai uses in a combat suit. He fights with quick movements and uses Karma's fighting style of provoking during battle.

(A/N: If you have forgotten, Isogai used them in the first chapter of this story to protect Izuku and Bakugou from the villain.)

Jiro is not that comfortable with firearms, so we advised her to focus on daggers for now. After midterms we are going to give her special items that will let her use her Quirk in a lot more different ways. We advised her to not rely so much on ears because someone can use that to her disadvantage.

Saito is very good with all kinds of firearms, from Light-Machine and Sub-machine guns, Assault Rifles, Sniper rifles, Shotgun, etc. Simply put, he is a jack of all trades in firearms. He also uses Terasaka's head-on fighting style.

Kaminari is very good with guns, especially pistols and long-range weapons, and he is also good with a knife to some degree. We are going to use these skills in Quirk training. He is average in fighting others.

Reiko is not that good at quirkless training but also not bad at it too. She is quite skilled in shooting and concentrating more than others. It must be because of her quirk. She is not that mobile and agile and uses Kirara's fighting style.

Ryu and Michiru both are extremely and equally good with firearms. But Michiru beat Ryu in knife training with a huge margin. It must have been his shyness that made him unable to show his full potential in front of everyone. They always do quite well as a duo.

Izuku is also a jack of all trades here. He is good with firearms and knives both. He is agile and mobile. We advised him to learn about the explosives in case he ever needed them. But as people say, 'Nothing is perfect.' He also has a major flaw in fighting; he thinks way too much during fighting. Thinking is good, but overthinking is not. He needs to balance between analysing and applying.

NARRATOR'S POV

To make things interesting and to make students put their all into the exams, Nagisa gave them incentives.

(Flashback)

"To make things interesting and to make you put your all into the exams, I will make a deal with you."

"What kind of deal, sensei?" Izuku asked.

"Anyone who gets the top score in any one of the major subjects in the 1st term gets to learn the ultimate technique..." He took a dramatic pause, analysing every student, and chuckled and said, "...my sure kill technique: CLAP STUNNER."

"WHAT?!" Everyone was utterly shocked, and it was obvious because it's the same technique he used on the 1st day of school, and they know how powerful that technique can be.

"Are you serious? I don't think we are ready for that kind of skill, sensei." Jiro said in a worried state.

"I know you are ready. That's why I want to teach and train you on that technique. I also learnt that when I was your age."

"Really?" they asked unbelievingly.

"Yeah, so who wants to learn?"

"WE WANT." Everyone screamed in response.

Chapter 08 End!

A/N: Hello Everyone!

I hope you all are doing well. My exams start on the 1st of March. I wanted to study, but the ideas for this fic keep on coming into my head, so I can't help but write them down as a draft. They are still just drafts, so they need improvement.

One more important thing: I am going to make it dark. I mean, like graphic depictions of death and killing and much more gore, so what do you say? But that's gonna take time, like 7 to 8 more chapters. Until then it will be chill and fun.

In the next chapter, the 1st term exams will be conducted. Results will be announced, and an old familiar face will come.

See you on March 31st or the next day with the chapter.

Thank you for reading!
