Cat Noir has to hand it to Marinette to conquer fear with her happiness. He always thinks these thieves are scary, but they are not.

"You really are a strange girl, Marinette. I got to hand it to you" He said.

"And you aren't so intimidating as a cat. Are black cats your favorite?" Marinette asked.

"They are. After all, they are a symbol of bad luck" Cat Noir said.

"And you chose a black horse to symbolize death or misfortune" Marinette guessed.

"Well, misfortune," Cat Noir said.

"It's like death and fear do nothing to you," Marinette said.

"I got nine lives," Cat Noir said.

"Were you arrested before?" Marinette flirted to get an honest answer.

"Well...Not once" Cat Noir said.

Marinette gestures to the wanted flyer of him to be taken dead or alive.

"Well, I'm wanted but never caught," He said.

"Like a lost mouse to avoid predators," Viperion said with menace.

"Technically speaking, cats and snakes eat mice. And they both hiss dangerously" Cat Noir smirked at him.

"You forget that some snakes are venomous" Viperion reminded him.

"And cats have nine lives with sharp claws to scratch than bite nasty. Cats growl but snakes do not" Cat Noir growled lowly.

"I know," Viperion said.

Just then they heard the king's guards bang on the door, "Oh, crap. Not them! Not now!" Cat Noir panicked.

"This way!" Ryuko opened a hatch to let Marinette and Cat Noir escape.

"Uh, you're helping us escape?" Cat Noir raised a brow.

"We'll hold them off!" Carapace said.

"Thank you so much," Marinette said.

"Go, live your dreams," Carapace said as the two got in to escape.

The two crawled through the hidden passage as the guards broke in.

Cat Noir lit the lantern for light to see where they were going, "Follow me, Marinette" He crawled first.

"What is this?" Marinette asked.

"A secret passage," Cat Noir said.

"I've never been in one," Marinette said.

"First one for you" Cat Noir got out.

"What are they for?" Marinette asked.

"Escape situations like that," Cat Noir said.

"It's a little dark in here," Marinette said and Tikki on her shoulder made a bit of gecko noise.

"Remind me why you are dragging that frog with you," Cat Noir said.

"She's a gecko" Marinette corrected him.

"Never seen one before," Cat Noir said.

"No one warned the guards that you were at this diner place," Marinette said

"That's strange," Cat Noir said.

"Anyone you know has a grudge for you?" Marinette asked.

"Lots of people but none have tried to turn me in since they aren't as cruel to have me hanged," Cat Noir said.

"I can imagine that," Marinette said.

"I hope my horse made it out. Oh, boy. I think I hear something coming behind us" Cat Noir heard something behind them.

"Is it a horse?" Marinette guessed.

"Worse. The Royal Guards! Run!" Cat Noir ran with her.

They ran into the woods to avoid being detected, "They went this way!" They heard the guards.

They couldn't outrun them but then they came to a stop at the waterfall.

"Okay, now what?" Marinette got nervous.

"Can you swim?" Cat Noir asked.

"N-No," Marinette said.

The feline groans in frustration that there's no time since the guards are close by and there's no other choice.

"Take a breath" He held her before making a ready to jump.

"We're not gonna...WOOOOOOOAAAAAH!" They jump into the water.

"Where did they go?!" The guards lost them.

"They jumped! It's too high and sharp rocks probably killed them!"

Little did they know, the two actually survived. Cat Noir covers her mouth and hides behind a rock since the guards are still looking down.

"Shhhhh" He shushed her.

"I see nothing! Let's move!"

Once they left, Cat Noir removed his hand from Marinette's mouth.

"What the hell? We almost died!" Marinette glared.

"I had no alternative," Cat Noir said.

"We got to get to dry land," Marinette said.

"Let's move," Cat Noir said before swimming.

They climbed up onto a rocky edge. All soaked and wet from jumping in the water.

"Oh man!" Cat Noir took his mask off and squeezed the water.

"My first time in the water like this" Marinette said.

"I can tell" Cat Noir put his mask on.

"But we are not dead. I guess luck is on our side" Marinette said.

"Yeah, clearly," Cat Noir said.

"Those men were after you. You did something evil, didn't you?" Marinette said.

"They are after me because of the tiara." Cat Noir admitted.

"So why not give it back to them?" Marinette asked.

"Because that's what thieves do," Cat Noir said.

Marinette raised a brow to think this was more than what a thief would do, "Really? Is that so Kitty?"

"Don't give me that look. It's called surviving. If good people don't give poor people a sanctuary, we poor people become thieves. Or rather starve to death and die" Cat Noir explained.

"Okay," Marinette replied.

"I'm serious," Cat Noir said before sitting on a rock, "You have no idea what it's like as a kid with no parents to take care of you. I have no choice in life but to steal to survive. The world can be cruel but sometimes there is good and bad in a balance"

"You're an orphan?" Marinette asked.

"All my life since I was 5 until a family of thieves took me in, raised me as a new thief, and I learned to survive like them," Cat Noir said.

"And you picked black cat as your attire's namesake," Marinette said.

"Not exactly. The real legendary thief before me was a black cat. He was called Chat Noir which means 'black cat' in French. They told me his story when I was a kid and I decided to become like him. Only this time between English and French style as I choose a name Cat Noir" Cat Noir said.

"Okay then" Marinette replied.

"There are rules that keep us powerless, red hair. And some rules need to be broken" Cat Noir said.

"Alright then," Marinette said.

"Question is, why did your mother not tell you things about the kingdom?" Cat Noir asked.

"That I wonder too. I have no idea" Marinette said.

"I may not have parents as a kid but I've seen parents share information with their kids when they grow up," Cat Noir said.

"That's something mine didn't do," Marinette said.

"You never left the tower all your life?" Cat Noir guessed.

"Never," Marinette said.
