I don't own Power Rangers or Cross Ange; those belong to their creators. This is for fun, not profit.
Chapter 26: Reunions and Perils
In the Kaiser Sphere, Kurt finished telling the story about himself and his master, Embryo to the leaders of the mobile space station.
"So you and this Embryo were originally from this Earth before you moved on and conquered a different one. Is that about right?" Prince Crimson said.
"For the most part, yeah." Kurt said. "My master Embryo is quite aware of your little problem with my former team. As it just so happens, we also have similar problems."
"How so?" Prince Crimson asked.
"You see, my master has his own plans not only for our Earth but this one as well. But it only serves as a hindrance to your plans on conquering it." Kurt stated.
"Is that supposed to be a threat?" Prince Crimson questions him as a powerful aura appears around his body.
Kurt calmly smiles and raises his hands.
"Relax. I'm not threatening, only to provide you with an offer." He told him.
Prince Crimson dismissed his aura.
"And what can you possibly offer me?" The prince questions him.
"Mostly a proposition. Once my master's plan is complete, we won't interfere on how you will proceed. Just as long as you don't interfere or cause harm to us." Kurt answered.
"And what do I gain from this agreement?" Prince Crimson questions him.
"How about being able to travel between different dimensions?" Kurt questions him back, and that caught the prince and the others' attention. "I mean sure conquering the whole universe will be a big deal but why stop at one when your Empire can conquer nearly an infinite number of universes."
Prince Crimson thought about it, while he hates to compromise with the White Ranger and this Embryo, he can't deny the idea of invading and conquering more universes is indeed intriguing to him.
But before he could come to an agreement with him, there's one thing Kurt must do for him.
"If you really want my trust, you'll have to earn it." Prince Crimson stated.
"Oh, but of course. Do you really think I would appear before you without having the means to do so? And as it does so happen, I know a way to help you destroy my former team." Kurt stated.
That drew Prince Crimson's attention along with Swartz and Cyber.
"What?" Swartz said.
"And could that be?" Prince Crimson asked.
"There's a special item hidden within the Rangers' base. An item that will help you destroy them with the right conditions." Kurt told them.
"And how can you acquire this item? I highly doubt they would hand it to you if you asked." Prince Crimson stated.
"True. Which is why I'm going to sneak in and acquire it." Kurt said confidently.
"And how would you do that?" Prince Crimson questions the White Ranger.
Kurt smiles as he brings out his close hand.
"Let's just say, I have my ways." Kurt said before opening his hand to reveal a robotic fly.
After the Nexus Rangers met up with Salamandinay and her subordinates at the temple, they were walking in the hallway together to check on Ange and Tusk as they headed to their room.
"Still can't believe you invited us for breakfast, just so we can explain our story with Ange." Dean said.
"Well, she's already seen you and the others, so there's no reason we should be quiet about this any longer." Salamandinay stated.
"I suppose there's no denying that. Dean said.
They soon arrived at the room that Ange and her knight, Tusk, had prepared for them. They enter the room while not hearing the sound of people falling inside.
"Good morning." Salamandinay greeted them before they all saw the situation Ange and Tusk were now in.
With Tusk on top of Ange wearing nothing but his underwear, while the robe Ange was wearing became partially undone exposing a small area of her chest and exposing her legs.
While Kaname and Naga blushed as they continued to stare, the Nexus Rangers quickly turned away from the sight thinking that they were interrupted by something private between them.
"S-Sorry! We didn't mean to intrude!" Dean said.
"Oh, is this a part of your morning compilation? Then please, you are free to continue." Salamandinay told them.
Tusk wasn't sure how to explain this, while Ange grits her teeth as she growls in anger before she pushes Tusk off of her.
"No way!" Ange shouted as she stood up and Tusk was lying face first on the floor and began kicking on his bottom several times.
"So is this normal between you two?" Claire asked.
"Pretty much…" Tusk said as Ange kept on kicking him.
After Ange finally vents out her anger, she and Tusk soon change into their clothes. They then follow the Rangers and Salamandinay's crew to a dining room, that's when they saw Vivian was in the room with her mother, Lamia.
Vivian and Lamia were seated by the same table with Vivian gulping down her bowl of rice before she asked for more.
"More please!" Vivian chirped.
Lamia chuckles before she takes the bowl from her daughter's hand.
"Mii, remember to chew properly, okay?" Lamia told her daughter.
"Okay, thanks, Your Mother!" Vivian nodded.
"Vivian?" Ange said before Vivian saw her and the others.
"Oh hey! Morning you guys!" Vivian greeted while waving. Lamia turns to them as well.
"Good morning, your highness." Lamia greeted the Princess of the Freyja.
"I trust that you rested soundly?" Salamandinay asked.
"Actually…I just stayed up chatting with my little girl." Lamia told her.
"Yeah. I'm exhausted…" Vivian said as she playfully rubbed on her cheeks.
"I am touched by that." Salamandinay said before she turned to Ange and Tusk. "Now, please have a seat. I would like you two to join us for breakfast."
"Oh, uh…sure." Ange said.
The Nexus Rangers took a seat on a different table while Ange and Tusk were seated with Salamandinay and her subordinates. The food on the table consisted of steam rice, fruits and vegetables along with fish and tempura coated dishes.
"We have plenty. So help yourselves." Salamandinay offered.
"Oh, thanks." Tusk said.
Using a pair of chopsticks, Tusk picks up a piece of the food on the table and dips it in soy sauce and eats it. Tusk was amazed at how good it was.
"Is the meal to your liking?" Salamandinay asked.
"Yes, it's delicious! We haven't had a decent meal in forever!" Tusk said as he was going to some more until Ange elbows him.
"Are you just stuffing your face? It could be poison, you idiot." Ange whispers to him.
"Not true." Shin calls out gaining her attention as he and the other Rangers were enjoying the food on their table. "Do you really think we would poison our own meals?"
But Ange wasn't too convinced before she looked at Vivian along with Lamia.
"Looks like Vivian fell for it." Ange said.
"Huh?" Tusk said.
"Being nice to the enemy to get information. It's the oldest trick in the book."
"Wait…So you're saying?"
"For one thing, how do we know that's actually Vivian's mom?"
"Man…You're really paranoid." Alisa said before she ate a piece of sweet potato.
"Yeah…I have to agree with her. I mean they look related." Tusk said.
Ange growls while clenching her hand and gritting her teeth before her stomach begins to growl.
Salamandinay notices that while enjoying a bowl of miso soup.
"You should eat while it is still warm." She told her.
Ange's cheeks turned red.
"Alright! I'm eating it!" Ange exclaimed as she picked up her chopsticks and used it to eat a piece of fish. She was surprised at how good it was.
Salamandinay smiles to see that Ange averted eye contact as she continues to eat with Tusk.
After finishing their meals, they took a moment to relax.
"Ah yeah…Now that was some good eating." Claire said.
"You're telling me. I would have seconds if I wasn't so full." Aaron said.
That's when the Nexus Rangers notice Ange staring at her.
"Right…I guess you're long due for an explanation." Dean said.
"Clearly. And now I want answers. Who are you people? How can you transform? And how come you don't have wings or a tail like the others we do?" Ange questions them.
"Settle down. We can only answer so many questions at a time. Plus, you might not believe what we'll tell you." Shin said.
"Try me." Ange said.
"Well, you heard her." Salamandinay said.
"Yeah…Okay, now where to start?" Dean said before he explained the details about himself and his team to Ange, Tusk and Vivian.
(Play: Believe in Nexus by Masaaki Endoh)
(Instrumental) (As the song starts, two Earths appear one at a time before they collide against each other creating a flash of light which blinded the screen.)
(Sono te nobashi te mabayui ashita o tsukamitore! Mugen no sora hamatake Believe in Nexus!) (Five of the Nexus Zords had appeared as the Racer, Wolf, and Dozer Zords were racing on a large road while the Chopper and Falcon Zords were flying above them before they turned into a flash of light and flew into the vast open sky before the story's title appeared on screen.)
(Araburu kono shoudo daremino tomiranai!) (The Nexus Rangers were standing on a hill as they looked at the town where the Children of Aura resides as some of them in DRAGON form flew above them as they watched them in awe.)
(Hiri asa mi kirikou o taka maru kono Heart Beat!) (Then it changes to a split screen with Salamandinay looking at her Enryugo as it was still incomplete, and Ange who was in her room in Arzenal as she was seated on her bed while looking at her ring, before it changes to Embryo and behind him was Kurt who was holding his Lion Knuckle Morpher.)
(Bi chinai sou o natato sekawaerai!) (Then it changes showing an army of Xedroids and behind them were Prince Crimson, General Swartz, and Cyber.)
(Koko de oarasatakunai Go For It!) (Next the screen changes to the Rangers commencing their Morphin Sequence as they Morph into their suits before their helmets appeared.)
(Tachiagare kodoku ni obiekuru e naide!) (The screen changes showing a fleet of Xe-Fighters and an army of Xe-Bots charging forward to attack, then changes to the Nexus Rangers loading their Zord Cards into their Morphers as they soon appear, and the Rangers jump into them.)
(Nakama ma batte irukoto mou ichido omoidase!) (In his cockpit, the Nexus Red Ranger inserts his Battle Mode Card into his Morpher and his Racer Zord changes into the said mode.)
(Kowaku wa naisa akirame wa shinai donna tsugoi yatsu ni mo make wa shinai itsudatte o kino yuuki de Believe In Nexus!) (Then each of the Nexus Zord launch respective attacks on their enemies before the Kaiser Sphere in the sky. Then the Zords combine forming the Nexus Prime Megazord, and then energy appears around the Megazord before it flies at the Kaiser Sphere to attack and when it collides against the Sphere a large flash of light appears blinding the screen. Then it changes to both Earths before the Nexus Rangers along with the villain leaders appeared as they faced each other.)
After the Nexus Rangers told Ange and her friends about who they are, the former princess of the Misurugi Empire did a recap.
"So, let me get this story straight. You and your other colorful friends are known as Power Rangers who once defended this world, but Embryo defeated you. Then you were asleep for over 500 years and woke up only to find that your world is under attack by invaders from deep space. Is that about right?" Ange questions them.
"For the most part, yeah." Dean said.
"But when you say it like that, you make it sound like we're crazy." Shin stated.
"That's because it is crazy. Do you honestly expect me to believe all of that?" Ange said.
"Well, you did see us morph, remember?" Dean reminded her.
"And for I know, it must've been a trick." Ange countered.
"Jeez. You really have a hard head." Claire stated and Ange glared at the Pink Ranger who waved her hands. "Sorry. Just ignore me."
"But I can understand that this is difficult to understand. I wouldn't believe this myself if I hadn't seen Dean in battle along with his friends." Salamandinay said.
Ange then remembered how Dean and Shin morph right in front of her when Arzenal was attacked by her brother.
"Well, I still don't buy it." Ange grumbles.
Dean sighed while rubbing the back of his head.
"Should've known getting through to her was going to be difficult." The Red Ranger said.
"But if all of that is true, then you must be similar to me." Tusk said, drawing the Rangers' attention.
"Like you?" Aaron said.
"In our world, I'm a part of a race of non-Mana users known as the Ancient Folk. In fact…I'm the last of my kind." Tusk told them with a bit of sadness.
"Tusk…" Ange said in sympathy for him while the Nexus Rangers were a bit surprised by this.
"I see. I'm sorry to hear that." Dean said while Shin lowered his head in some sadness and Ange notice that.
"It's fine. There's no need to apologize." Tusk said. Vivian then realized something about the Rangers' story.
"But wait…If you were sleeping for 500 hundred years…That means you're super old!" Vivian said. Alisa then gave her a chop on the head. "Ow!"
"Hey, you really shouldn't say things like that." Alisa told her.
"She's right, Mii. And you should show Sir Dean and his friends proper respect." Lamia told her daughter.
Vivian pouted.
"It's not my fault they're over 500 years old." She mutters.
Then a dark and gloomy aura appeared around Claire and Alisa as tears ran down their faces.
"Please don't say that…" Alisa said.
"We're too young to be over 500…" Claire said.
"Well actually we're around five…" Shin said before Alisa and Claire glared at him with glowing red eyes and Shin flinches.
"Shin…!" The Yellow and Pink Rangers said at the same time.
"Never mind. Forget I even said anything." Shin quickly said and Alisa and Claire smiled at him.
"Good boy." Claire said.
"But if you ever bring that up again." Alisa said as she popped her knuckles.
"Right, got it, never again." Shin promised as he raised one hand with the other on his chest.
The Blue Ranger then coughs in her hand before he looks at Vivian.
"But we should talk about her." Shin said. Vivian blinks in confusion.
"What about me?" Vivian asked.
"I'm mostly curious on how you maintain your human form for so long in Embryo's world." Shin said before she turned to Ange. "You didn't know about that until just now, right?"
"Yeah. Before we came here, I always assumed that Vivian was Norma like me." Ange said.
"And she hadn't shown any sign of transforming?" Shin asked, Ange shook her head.
Salamandinay then spoke to the Blue Ranger.
"If I may inject. From what I was told from Dr. Gecko, there were signs of medications within her bloodstream. No doubt that must've been the cause." Salamandinay told him and the others.
"I see. Now that merits investigation." Shin said before he spoke to Lamia. "With your permission Lamia, I would like to take Vi…Mii to my lab."
"You do?" Lamia asked.
"Yes. I know you just reunited, but there's no telling if the medications will have any side effects on her. But don't worry, it takes me too long. Once I'm done, she'll be back before you know it." Shin said.
While she still has some reluctance about this, Lamia nodded knowing she'll trust Shin and the other Rangers.
"Very well. Just promise me she'll be safe in your care." Lamia said.
"Don't worry, she'll be in good hands with us." Aaron said.
"And we'll make sure he won't do anything extreme like dissecting her." Dean added.
Vivian was a bit fearful to hear that while Shin turned to his friends.
"Oh come on. Do you really have that little faith in me?" The Blue Ranger asked.
"Yes." The others simply answered, and Shin was left in tears.
"So much for our friendship…" He mutters to himself, and they chuckle.
"Well what do you say, Vivian? You want to come visit our secret base?" Claire asked.
Leaving the possible part of Shin dissecting her, Vivian was curious about visiting a base of superheroes like the Nexus Rangers.
"Is your base cool?" Vivian asked.
"Yeah. Very cool. We have a lot of things that would amaze you. And we have plenty of tasty food and snacks." Claire answered. Vivian smiles in excitement.
"Then let's go!" Vivian said. But then Ange spoke up.
"Wait." The others turned to her. "If Vivian's going then so am I."
"Okay, if this is about the thing about Shin dissecting her, we were only kidding." Aaron told her.
"Didn't sound like it to me…" Shin mutters.
"It's not that. It's mostly due to the fact that I can't trust you people. And if you think I'm going to let you take Vivian to your secret base, then you have another thing coming." Ange stated.
"Ange, come on." Tusk said.
"Man…She really doesn't know how to hold back." Claire said.
"Well, Dean, how do you want to do this?" Salamandinay asked.
Dean thought about it before he sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"Well…I guess it was bound to happen at some point. Fine, you can come along. As it just so happens, there's someone who wants to see you." Dean said, Ange narrowed her eyes to hear that before Dean waved his hands. "No, it's not Sayla. It's just…as fate would happen, there's another person in your world who's living with us. In fact, it's someone who you're already acquainted with."
"Someone acquainted with Ange?" Tusk said in some confusion.
"Who would that be?" Vivian asked. "Is it Momo?"
"No. It's someone else entirely." Salamandinay told them.
After being told about that, Ange thought of who this someone could be. She can exclude Momoka since she would immediately jump at the chance to see her. The last time she saw Hilda was when she was fighting those flying disk-drones known as Pyrethroids.
By the sound of it, it must be someone she had a history with and knows very well. That is when one person appeared in her mind.
'Someone I'm acquainted with? It couldn't be…' Ange thought to herself. There was only person she would think of that matches that description, where they met when she was still a royal and where they reunited after being banished to Arzenal.
Dean then draws her attention by speaking to her.
"So, I guess you're interested in coming?" Dean asked. Ange sighed.
"Fine. It's not like I have anything better to do." Ange said as she stood up.
"And if you're going, then so am I." Tusk said as he stood up as well.
"Guess we're bringing three guests to the Hub." Shin said.
Unknown to the Nexus Rangers and their allies is that something was watching them from inside the room. When they left the room, it soon followed them.
The Rangers, Salamandinay's crew, and Ange's group were now standing outside of the temple.
Dean checks with the others while speaking to them.
"Okay. I hope you're ready, because the Hub is now waiting for us." Dean said.
"So are we going to teleport just like what you did?" Vivian asked in some excitement.
"That's right. But it's important to make sure not to make any sudden movement. Otherwise, the transport won't go right." Shin told her.
"Got it!" Vivian nodded.
"Alright. Since we're ready, let's go." Dean said before he readied his Morpher to teleport himself and the others to the Hub.
But unknown to the Nexus Rangers and their allies, Kurt's robotic fly was watching and following them. After seeing they were going to teleport to the Hub, it soon flies and clings onto Tusk's vest without him noticing it.
After that they soon transport to the Hub unaware of the dangerous element that is now with them.
The Nexus Rangers, their allies and their guests soon appeared on the Hub's transporter. Ange, Tusk and Vivian were a bit shaken feeling the side effects of their first teleportation.
"Oh sorry about that. Probably should've warned you about the aftereffects of first teleportation." Dean said.
"Yeah…You should've." Ange said with a hand on her head.
"Don't worry, the effects will wear off in a short amount of time." Shin assured them.
"Really doesn't feel like it…" Tusk said with a hand over his mouth and Vivian shook her head.
After the effects of their first teleportation had subsided, the Nexus Rangers, their allies and guests soon walked towards the computer. Vivian smiles in amazement as she looks at the room.
"Wow…This place is amazing." Vivian said.
"Guess it's not bad." Ange said.
"Please, this is only the command room. We have plenty of rooms that are even more amazing than this." Shin said.
"But wait until you see our other ally." Dean said.
"Other ally?" Ange said in confusion.
"Hey, Pix! Come on out and introduce yourself!" Claire calls out.
Pixel soon appeared in front of Ange and her friends, surprised and suspicious towards the AI, Ange grabs hold of her gun to pull it out but Dean stops her by grabbing onto her hand.
"Hey, cool it hothead. She's a friend." Dean told her.
Ange clicks her tongue and removes her hand from her gun.
Pixel bowed before Ange, Tusk and Vivian and introduced herself.
"Greetings, I am the Hub's primary intelligence program. Designation Unit Number 01." Pixel greeted them while speaking like a lifeless computer program and they looked at her in confusion, Pixel chuckles showing her emotions. "Hahaha. Kidding, kidding. You can just call me Pixel or Pix for short."
"Okay! Nice to meet you Pix!" Vivian said before she shakes Pixel's hand despite her digital form, but Pixel was still able to shake her hand.
Tusk then spoke to the Nexus Rangers.
"So, she's your other ally?" He asked.
"Yeah. Pixel is the artificial intelligence for the whole Hub. She helps with maintaining the base and surveillance throughout our satellite network." Shin explained to Ange and Tusk.
"So she's just a computer?" Ange said and Shin took offense to that.
"Rude. I'll have you know Pixel is a one-of-a-kind super-intelligent AI, created by yours truly." Shin told them.
Salamandinay's crew were surprised to hear that.
"Wait…Shin created Pixel? Is that true?" Salamandinay asked. Dean nodded.
"Yeah. It's a true story. Shin was the one who gave Pixel life and built this entire base." The Red Ranger explained.
"I see. That certainly explains things now." Salamandinay said as she looked at Pixel and the Hub's command room.
"Fine. Whatever you say. So…where's this someone who is acquainted with me?" Ange questions them. Pixel spoke to her.
"Just be patient. I already told them you'll be coming, they'll be any…" Pixel said before everyone in the room heard the door opening. "Oh, there they are now. And quicker than I expected."
Then running out of the room was Carole, Ange recognized her as one of the kids from Arzenal.
"You're…" Ange said as Carole smiled to see her.
"Mistress Ange!" Carole said as she moved up to hug her. "You're really here! I've missed you so much!"
Ange wasn't sure what to do at first before she petted her on the head.
"Uhhh…Thanks, I'm glad that you're safe." Ange said before she heard the others chuckling. "What?"
"Oh, nothing. But I guess you have a soft spot for kids." Claire said.
Ange clicks her tongue.
"So, this is who you were talking about?" She asked.
"Well…She's close but not quite." Aaron said before he turned to the door and could tell she was hiding. "Hey, you shouldn't hide like that. She's here, so you might as well show yourself."
While Ange blinks in confusion, the second person who was hiding enters the command room and to Ange's shock it was Misty Rosenblum who was a bit nervous to see her again.
"Misty?" Ange said.
"It's been a while…Lady Angelise." Misty nervously greeted her.
"Who's that?" Vivian asked.
"I don't know. But something tells me that things won't go well." Tusk said.
The robotic fly that clung onto Tusk soon flew and landed on top of the Hub's main computer. It then brings out a needle and pierce into the computer and begins to inject green data into the Hub's data systems as it begins to spread throughout and take over everything.
In the middle of a forest, Kurt was watching the robotic fly's progress from his Morpher's screen through its eyes. After seeing it landing on the Hub's computer and injecting its data into it, the evil White Ranger smiles.
"The fly made it to the nest. I hope you're ready for the show, Rangers." Kurt said.
In his lab, Shin was wearing his lab coat and glasses while examining Vivian's mouth with a flashlight while also asking her some questions.
"So you weren't injected by any type of syringe? Not even a daily flu shot?"
"No. If anything, I hate needles." Vivian said.
"Hey, you shouldn't say something like that. Especially since needles can save lives." Shin told her before he removed his flashlight. "But still you must've had a steady supply of specialized medicine. Did you have a special diet or some sort of pill?"
Vivian hummed as she thought about it and one thing did come to mind.
"Wait…Maggie does give me some lollipops." She said.
"Lollipops? As in candy?" Shin asked.
"Yeah." Vivian nodded. "She says I need them for vitamins or stuff like that. I didn't get it but they tasted good, so I just rolled with it."
"And when did you stop taking them?" Shin asked.
"A bit after the attack I think." Vivian said before she realized something. "Oh yeah. That is when I turned into a DRAGON."
"Well, I guess that confirms then. You wouldn't happen to have any of those lollipops with you, do you?" Shin asked, Vivian shook her head. "That's a darn shame. I would've loved to analyze them and see what they're made out of. But who exactly is this, Maggie?"
"She's the top doctor of Arzenal. Though most people tend to keep their distance from her for personal reasons." Vivian said.
"I see. Still this Maggie must be a medical genius if she was able to make an extraordinary medication with limited resources." Shin said.
Vivian blinks before she remembers the kind of person Maggie is like. How she often drinks large amounts of alcohol and is excited by the sight of blood.
"Pfft!" Vivian nearly laughed. Shin blinks to hear that.
"Is something wrong?" The Blue Ranger asked.
"No…Nothing at all." Vivian said as she continued to hold back her laughter.
"In anycase, now all I need is a sample of your blood." Shin said before he brought out a syringe.
Vivian grew a bit fearful to see that as she quickly moved away from the Blue Ranger.
"C-Can be anything besides needles?" Vivian said. Shin sighs.
"Oh come on. Don't be a baby. It's only going in your arm for a minute." Shin told her.
"B-But a minute's too long!" Vivian cries out.
"And like I told you before, needles can save lives!" Shin said.
That's when the lights in the lab begin to turn off and on repeatedly. Both Shin and Vivian look at the light in confusion.
"The hell?" Shin said.
"What's going on?" Vivian asked.
Shin walks to the light switch to turn off the lights but it continues to turn off and on. Shin then uses his Morpher to contact Pixel.
"Pixel, I need you in the lab. Something's wrong." Shin told the AI.
Pixel soon appeared in the lab and saw the lights repeatedly going off and on.
"I expected something more major. But since I'm here." Pixel said before she brings out her keyboard and checks to see what was wrong in the lab to fix. "There it is. Just a simple system glitch to the lighting hardwire."
After typing on her keyboard, the lights went back to normal.
"And that should do it." Pixel said.
"Thanks. But still, the Hub rarely gets glitches like that. Can you investigate what could be the cause?" Shin requested. Pixel nodded.
"Right. You…entiendo." Pixel glitches for a moment while saying that last in spanish.
Translate: Got it.
Pixel covered her mouth in shock while Shin blinked to hear that.
"Pixel, was that spanish?" Shin asked.
"Yes…Indeed it was just now." Pixel said in english.
"Are you okay though?" Shin asked in concern.
Pixel messages her throat while speaking for a bit, so far, nothing happened.
"Yeah, I feel alright. Must've been a glitch or something." Pixel said.
"But you rarely get glitches like that. Maybe I should take a look at your language systems." Shin said. Pixel sighed.
"Shin, I'm fine. I'm more than capable of handling it by myself. You should know that better than anyone. You created me, remember?" Pixel said.
While still worried about her, Shin nodded.
"Okay. But the moment it becomes a problem, let me know right away." Shin said.
"Sure, sure. Whatever you say." Pixel said before she leaves the room.
"I swear…Sometimes I wonder where she got that stubbornness from." Shin said before he turned back to Vivian and showed the syringe. "Now…where we were?"
Once again fearful of that, Vivian moves back until her back reaches the wall while Shin approaches her with a dark shadow over his head while having an evil smile on his face.
"Now, now, be a good girl and stay still. This is all in the name of science." Shin chuckles darkly as his eyes light up.
"Someone help me!" Vivian cries out.
In another room of the Hub, Ange and Misty were seated on a table on opposite sides. There was also a viewing room next to them with Dean and Aaron inside of that.
While Misty was a bit nervous right now, Ange looked a bit annoyed with a leg on her knee while leaning her chin on her hand with her elbow on the table.
Aaron was a bit worried as he watched before he spoke to Dean.
"Are you really sure this is a good idea, Dean?"
"Well…It was bound to happen at some point. In order to avoid any other emergencies like Sayla's, best that we get this done and over with." Dean told him.
"But even so…" Aaron said while still being concerned about Misty.
There was silence between the disown royals while Misty wasn't sure how to start things at first. That's when Ange broke the silence as she sighed and spoke first.
"So…Care to explain how you're here?" Ange questions her. While a bit nervous at first, Misty was able to reply.
"Well…It's complicated. But…like you, I also learn about the truth about our world and the Light of Mana. I confronted my father about it and then…" Misty stopped for a moment but Ange could pretty much guess what happened after that.
"Hmph. So the little daddy's girl from the Rosenblum Kingdom was disowned by her own family and is now an outcast from her own home. Is that about right?" Ange said.
Misty slightly pouted to hear that.
"I wish you didn't say it like that. But…you're not wrong." Misty said.
"Well if you expect me to feel sorry for you, then you're sadly mistaken." Ange coldly told her.
"Heesh. Way to tell her how you really feel." Aaron said.
"No…I wasn't planning on that. But…I want to apologize to you." Misty said. Ange raised an eyebrow.
"Apologize? For what?" Ange questions her.
"For…Everything. After Aaron, his friends and Salamandinay told me the truth about the Light of Mana and Aura, I realized now how narrow minded I was on how our world works. Especially humanity's treatment of the Norma and that includes you. So I'm sorry." Misty said.
Ange chuckles at first before she bursts out laughing.
"Oh, so that's it? You set this whole thing to say you're sorry? Don't make me laugh." Ange said with a scowl on her face and Misty flinches. "Tell me this, Misty. Can sorry make up for all the pain and misery I went through? Can sorry make up for all the lies we were told about and how many Norma died because of it? Can sorry bring my mother or father back?"
"No…But I…" Misty said. But Ange loudly slams her hand on the table as she stands up.
"If that's all you have to say, then we're done here. Honestly, I don't even know why I bother?" Ange said.
Ange angrily left the room with the two Nexus Rangers and Misty watched her leave.
Misty lowered her head in some sadness. Aaron entered the room and placed a hand on her shoulder.
"You okay?" Aaron asked, Misty had a sad smile and nodded.
"Yes. It may have happened differently than I imagined. But just telling her I'm sorry was more than enough." Misty said. Dean enters the room to speak with her.
"But that doesn't give her the right to yell at you like that. Especially since you were also disowned by your family."
"I'm grateful that you're upset on my behalf, but it's fine. Really." Misty assured them.
"Misty…" Aaron said.
"Even so…" Dean said.
Pixel then appeared in the room and saw that Ange is now gone.
"Yo. I take it that things didn't turn out so well?" Pixel asked.
"What was your first clue?" Dean asked.
"Honestly, it's one thing to be mad at the whole world, but she didn't have to take it out on Misty." Aaron said.
"Yeah. But…" Pixel said before she glitched and spoke in japanese. "Nani o kitai shite imashita ka? Kanojo ga keiken shite kita koto subete o hete, Anju ga kako no urami o sutesaru to wa omoenai."
Translate: What did you expect? After everything she's been through, I doubt Ange will let go of past grudges.
The glitch stops and Pixel was once again surprised by this. Dean, Aaron and Misty look at the AI in confusion.
"Pix, what just happened?" Dean asked.
Pixel tested her voice a few times before she spoke to them.
"I think I just spoke japanese…" Pixel said.
"Japanese?" Misty said in confusion.
"It's the name of a nation in our time." Aaron explained to her.
"Oh, I see." Misty said.
"Clearly. But why though?" Dean asked.
"I think it must've been from an earlier glitch I experienced. I thought I dealt with it though." Pixel said.
"If it's becoming a problem, then maybe Shin should take a look at you." Aaron told her. Pixel sighed to hear that.
"Honestly. First Shin and now you guys. Listen, it's just a minor glitch, I just need to do a systems scan and fix it. It's really a simple minor for me." Pixel told them.
"Okay. But don't forget we're a team here. We have to trust and support each other to be at our best." Dean said.
"I know. But don't worry, there's nothing I can't handle." Pixel said before she leaves the room.
"Honestly, she can be so stubborn." Dean mutters.
"Yeah, but that's how Pixel is." Aaron said before he asked Misty a question. "Anyway, do you want to have some ice cream? That helps cheer me up."
Misty smiles.
"Yes, that would be nice." Misty said.
They soon leave the room together and head to the cafeteria to have ice cream. But because of the distance they were at, they didn't hear the door opening and closing repeatedly.
After changing to her workout clothes, Claire is seen walking in the hallway and heads to the training room.
But that's when she spotted Ange who was standing in the hallway looking at her surroundings.
"Ange?" Claire calls out and Ange turns to the Pink Ranger. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. I was looking for the exit…." Ange said.
"But you're lost, aren't you?" Claire asked. Ange turns away while clicking her tongue. "Hey, don't worry about it. I had trouble remembering where to go at first too. But I take it your chat with Misty didn't go too well?"
"It's none of your business." Ange stated.
"Well it is my business because Misty is my friend. You might be angry at the whole world, but that's no reason to take it out on her." Claire said.
"And could you possibly understand?" Ange asked.
"Because I know what it's like to wake up one moment and find your entire world changing." Claire said. Ange understood what she meant, since Claire and her friends were sleeping for 500 years after Embryo had destroyed it. "Look, I know things may have been difficult for you. I mean you were a princess at one moment but then your own brother exposed you and banished you to Arzenal where he was hoping you'll die, that would've shaken just about anyone. But Misty also has her own problems, she was disowned by her own father, now everyone in her own home must hate her right now. But the one thing you have in common is that you're both still standing."
"Still doesn't change anything." Ange stated.
"Maybe. But all we can do is move forward." Claire said before she claps her hands. "Now how about we get Pixel to serve as your guide?"
"I don't need…" Ange said before Claire uses her Morpher to contact the Hub's AI. "Nevermind."
"Pixel, can you come to my location, please?" Claire requested but for some strange reason, Pixel wasn't responding. "Pixel? Pixel, can you hear me?"
But all she and Ange heard was static.
"This is weird. Pixel wouldn't ignore our calls like that." Claire said.
Walking in another part of the Hub, Alisa was giving Tusk a tour of the Nexus Rangers' base with Salamandinay's crew with her.
"In this floor there's an archives room. A library. Even an entertainment room where we can watch movies and play video games." Alisa said.
"Sounds like you have just about everything here." Tusk said.
"You don't know half of it. I thought adding so many rooms and tech to this place was a bit over the top but Shin was adamant about his designs." Alisa stated.
"Yes, that does indeed sound like him." Salamandinay said.
"But I wonder how he acquired the resources to build all of this." Kaname said.
"Well…I won't go into full specifics. But back in our time, Shin was the CEO of his own tech company." Alisa told them.
"Tech company?" Naga said in some confusion.
"As in a business, correct?" Salamandinay asked.
"I guess that's one way to look at it. Both Shin and his company were basically the biggest names in the tech world. He makes over billions of dollars in less than a year." Alisa said.
"Billions? Then he must've been loaded." Tusk said.
"Yeah. But thankfully, he didn't let all that money get to his head. I mean he has a big enough ego already." Alisa said.
"Very true." Salamandinay chuckles with Naga and Kaname joining her.
Alisa then spotted a door.
"Anyway, I think we did enough walking. How about we rest here?" Alisa asked, the others nodded. "Okay."
Alisa pressed on the button to open the door, but it wasn't responding to the command. Alisa blinked before she pressed the button a few more times, but it still wasn't responding.
"This is weird. It shouldn't be…" Alisa said before the door repeatedly opens and closes, forcing the Yellow Ranger to step back.
"What's going on?" Salamandinay asked as she and the others looked at the door as it continued to open and close.
"I don't know." Alisa said before the door stopped. But knowing that something was wrong, Alisa contacts Pixel. "Pixel, I need you at my location."
But Pixel wasn't able to respond, Alisa was left confused before she called out to Pixel again.
"Pixel? Pixel, come in!"
Then the Hub's AI soon appeared in the hallway.
"I'm here! I'm here…" Pixel said.
"What's with you? It's not like you to ignore my calls." Alisa stated.
"Sorry about that…I must've been spacing out." Pixel said with a hand on her head. "Anyway, what's wrong?"
"Well…Something's wrong with the door. At first it couldn't respond, and it was closing and opening itself on its own." Alisa said.
Pixel brings out her computer to check what was wrong with the door but finds nothing. The AI turns to the Yellow Ranger and soon glitches and speaks to her in german.
"Ich sehe bisher nichts falsches."
Translate: I don't see anything wrong so far.
When the glitch stops, Pixel covers her mouth once again. Alisa, Salamandinay and the others were looking at her confusion.
"Pix, what was that?" Alisa asked.
"I think it was…" Pixel said before she glitched and spoke in chinese. "Déyǔ?!"
Translate: German?!
Alisa, Salamandinay's crew and Tusk were surprised by that and so was Pixel.
"Pixel, what's wrong?" Alisa asked.
"I don't know, I…" Pixel said before she glitched and started speaking in random things. "Today's weather forecast…cloudy with a chance of meatballs! I'm the best of what I do and what I do is…Touchdown! This year's football season goes to…Build Divers!"
When the glitch stops, Pixel holds her head after that while the others look at her in worry.
"Pix…" Alisa said and the AI turned to her. "I think you need to go see Shin."
"Funny…I was thinking the same thing." Pixel said before she leaves and heads to Shin's lab.
In his lab, Vivian was pouting as she rubbed on the arm where Shin used the needle into her. Even though it only stung in a moment, Vivian could still feel it.
After putting the blood sample in a tube, Shin noticed that Vivian was still pouting no doubt due to the needle. Shin sighs before he speaks to her.
"Honestly, you shouldn't be a baby about it. It only stung for a moment, and it will heal in a second or two."
"Easy for you to say. You're not the one who was stung just now." Vivian said. Shin sighed.
"Kids these days." Shin said.
That's when Pixel appeared in the lab.
"Pix?" Shin said as the AI spoke to him.
"Shin! There's something…You have 24 hours to comply or else…There's something…You have one voicemail…There's something…I'm queen of the…There's something…!" Vivian couldn't help but chuckle as this was funny to her, Pixel was able to fight through the glitches and said this. "There's something wrong with me! I need your help!"
"Yeah. Clearly." Shin said as he was deeply worried right now.
After contacting his friends and the guests of the Hub, the Nexus Rangers along with Salamandinay's crew, Ange's group, and Misty were in the command room.
Shin using the main computer and Pixel using her own computer even though she was still glitching, search and scan the Hub's system to find the source of the AI's glitching and speaking problem.
"Well, Shin, what's the problem?" Dean asked.
"I'll let you know as soon as I find it…There!" Shin said before he brought out the Hub's data servers on the screen and they saw it was being infected by a virus. "There's our problem. Damn it, the Hub's systems and data servers are infected by a virus and it's continuing to spread. It already reached Pixel and started to affect her logic and language systems."
"What?" Aaron said.
"How did a computer virus sneak into our base?" Claire asked.
"I don't know. But if we don't do something, the effects of this virus will become irreversible." Shin said.
As they were speaking, Misty soon heard the door opening and Yamato entering.
"Yamato?"
When Yamato entered the rooms, his movements were a bit fidgeting, and his eyes blinked on and off.
"And this is why I suggested I should've taken a look at you. But you refuse to listen." Shin told the AI.
"A-A-Alright, you're right. B-B-But can w-we save the 'I told you so' after we fix this?" Pixel said.
"Is there a way to stop this?" Salamandinay asked.
Shin types on the computer to check how far the virus had spread.
"At this point, the only way to stop the virus is if we reset the whole base, including Pixel." Shin told them.
"But doesn't she hate that?" Kaname asked before they all turned to the AI.
"D-Don't look a-a-at me. F-F-For on-once I-I-I'm not going to com-com-complain about it." Pixel said as the glitches started to become more frequent.
"Glad to hear it. Alright, Morphers ready." Dean said before he and his team ready their Morphers as they brought out the master control access that is linked between.
The Nexus Rangers then brought the reset command button on their Morphers' screen.
"Reset command, ready." Shin said.
"Alright. Rebooting the Hub in three…two…" Dean said as his team got ready. "One!"
The Nexus Ranger pressed the buttons on their Morphers…But nothing was happening.
"What's going on?" Aaron asked before he and the others pressed the buttons a few more times but it wasn't responding to their command.
"Yeah. Nothing's happening." Ange said.
"This isn't good. The virus must be blocking the signal to our master key access. In other words, we're locked out of the system." Shin told them.
"Now that's just great." Claire said.
"So how can we stop the virus now?" Aaron asked.
Shin thought about it before he moved to the computer and typed on it. The Blue Ranger brings out the blueprint for the entire Hub.
"At this point, the only way to reset the Hub is by resetting its main system. Pixel's AI core." Shin said before the blueprint moves down to a floor that is many levels beneath them which housed Pixel's very AI core.
"I-I was afraid of that…" Pixel mutters.
"Then we can't waste any more time here. We need to…" Dean said.
"Umm…everyone." Misty calls out to the others as they turn to her. "I think something's wrong with Yamato."
Everyone looks at Yamato as he moves towards Misty as he continues to fidget.
"Umm…Are you okay?" Misty asked while being a bit nervous.
Yamato stares at her before throwing a punch at her, Misty screams in shock before Aaron moves in and pushes her to safety.
"Are you okay?" Aaron asked.
"Yes…Thank you." Misty nodded.
The Black Ranger turns to Yamato.
"Yamato, what the heck?!" Aaron said.
Yamato stares at Aaron and Misty with red eyes.
"Combat systems engage. Increasing to fight level 3." Yamato said.
"Level 3?" Aaron said with some worry.
Yamato then attacks Aaron and Misty with a punch, Aaron while holding onto Misty avoids another punch and a kick from their robot ally.
Just as Yamato was about to attack them, Dean grabbed onto his shoulder.
"Yamato, stop!" Dean ordered.
But Yamato removes his hand and attacks the Red Ranger with a barrage of punches, Dean avoids his attacks and grabs onto Yamato's wrist before the robot grabs onto Dean's shirt and he has a good idea what Yamato was going to do next.
"Oh boy…" Dean said before Yamato threw the Red Ranger to the floor.
Dean groans before he quickly avoids an incoming stomp from Yamato's foot by rolling on the ground. As Dean stood back up, he blocked one kick from Yamato and avoided the second kick as he moved back to Aaron and Misty.
"You okay, Dean?" Aaron asked.
"I've been better…" Dean said as he shook his arm.
As the others watched, Shin had become even more concerned about the effects of the computer virus.
"Crap…the system is being corrupted, and he's linked to the system." Shin said.
"Increasing to fight level 5." Yamato said as he approached Dean, Aaron and Misty.
"What happened to four? Don't skip it!" Aaron said.
Claire quickly approaches Yamato.
"Maybe we can reason with him." Claire said before she spoke to Yamato. "Yama, sweetie…"
But Yamato swung his arm at the Pink Ranger as she avoided it by flipping backwards.
"Guess we're past the point of reasoning!" Claire said.
"Jee, you think?" Alisa said before she and the others were ready to fight the rampaging robot.
Before Yamato could even fight the Rangers and their allies, Pixel brings out a forcefield around the corrupted robot as he begins to punch the forcefield.
"I-I-I'll keep Yamato here! Y-Y-You need to head to m-m-my core and reset me! I can't believe I just said that…" Pixel said while glitching.
"Are you sure?" Shin asked.
"I-I got this! Go…Now!" Pixel told them.
"You heard the lady! Let's move!" Dean told the others before they ran and headed to Pixel's core as the AI stayed behind to keep Yamato contained.
The Nexus Rangers and their allies soon arrive at the elevator and head towards the floor where Pixel's AI core is placed. But they find that the elevator is a bit tight as some of them were forced to lean on the walls.
"Okay…We really need bigger elevators." Dean stated.
"Don't worry. I'll be sure to do that after we're done dealing with the virus." Shin said.
Despite the tight fit, Claire was able to contact Sayla with her Morpher and told her the situation.
"And that's why you and Carole should stay put in your room, until we can reset Pixel. Got it?" Claire said.
"I understand. Good luck and be careful." Sayla said before she ended the transmission.
"That's one problem solved." Claire said.
"But none of us are safe until we can reset the Hub." Shin said.
"Well…at least things won't get any worse." Tusk said.
That's when the elevator stops.
"Did we arrive?" Salamandinay asked.
Shin checks using the elevator's screen/touchpad which serves as the control panel.
"No…We're on floor 37." Shin said before having a good idea what's going to come next. "Not good! We need to get out!"
"Why?" Tusk asked.
He soon got his answer as the elevator began to rapidly move up and down.
"What's going on?!" Ange shouted.
"The virus is spreading faster than I realized! It's affecting the Hub's machinery system!" Shin said.
"Hahaha! Still, this is fun!" Vivian laughs.
"Glad that you're enjoying this!" Alisa said.
Misty's face turns green as she has a hand over her mouth and Aaron notices that.
"Oh, no! I think Misty's going to puke!" He told them.
"She better not do it on me!" Ange said.
"Just hang on!" Shin said as he placed his hand on the elevator's control panel.
The Blue Ranger uses his technopathic powers to take control of the elevator and forces it to move down and stop. Shin then uses his powers to open the door and everyone falls to the floor.
"Ugh…Is everyone okay?" Dean asked.
"Define okay…?" Claire groans as she sits up and rubs on her head and back.
Misty loses her lunch with Aaron rubbing on her back. After she finally relieved herself, Misty was able to speak with a hand over her mouth.
"How humiliating…" Misty mutters.
"There, there. It's going to be okay." Aaron told her.
"Well at least we're still in one piece." Dean said.
"Ummm…Dean…" Salamandinay said.
Dean blinks before he notices he was right on top of Salamandinay. As they stare at each other's faces, both Dean and Salamandinay blushed before they quickly sat up and turned away from each other.
"S-Sorry about that. You're not hurt, are you?" Dean asked.
"No. I'm perfectly fine." Salamandinay said.
They soon notice the others looking at them with most of them having sly smiles on their faces.
"Well, look at you two." Claire commented.
"Oh haha. Can we save the teasing for later?" Dean asked.
Both Dean and Salamandinay stood up with the latter coughing in her hand.
"Anyway, did we arrive on the floor we were heading to?" Salamandinay asked.
Using his Morpher, Shin checks what floor they were on.
"No. We're on floor 42. Pixel's core is on floor 50." Shin told them.
"So we only travel down eight more floors. That shouldn't be too difficult." Salamandinay said.
Unknown to them, is that the Hub's hidden camera systems look at the Nexus Rangers and their allies and thanks to the virus, it soon designated them as threats.
"Yes, but we need to be careful. If the virus already affected Yamato, there's a good chance it also affected the Hub's security systems." Shin told them.
"What security systems?" Tusk asked.
Tusk soon got his answer when six laser turrets appeared from the walls and aimed right at them.
"Those security systems!" Shin said.
The turrets soon fired laser blasts at the Rangers and their friends. Acting quickly, Claire quickly created an energy shield to deflect the laser blasts.
Ange, Tusk and Vivian were surprised by that before Claire spoke to them.
"Everyone, alright?" Claire asked.
"We are. Thanks, Claire." Dean said before he turned to Aaron. "Aaron, cannonball!"
"Cannonball?" Ange said.
Aaron smiled and nodded.
"You got it." Aaron said before he absorbs the metal matter on the walls to coat his body with it. "Alright, good to go."
Dean grabs onto Aaron's ankles and the Black Ranger folded his arms before Dean spoke to the others.
"You're gonna need to stand back."
Heeding his instruction, the others step back.
"You ready, Aaron?" Dean asked.
"I am. Now throw me!" Aaron answered.
Using his superhuman strength, Dean lifts up the metal Aaron and spun around thrice before Claire lowered her shield and Dean threw the Black Ranger to the laser turrets.
Aaron smash through and shatter the three on the right wall before he lands on the floor, he then dashes to the other three and smash them with his metal arm.
Aaron dismissed his steel armor as he popped his knuckles.
"Well, I guess that warms us up." Aaron said.
Ange and Tusk were dumbfounded after seeing their powers for the first time while Vivian was deeply amazed.
"That was awesome! Can anyone in this world do that?" Vivian asked.
"No. Just them." Salamandinay told her.
"You shouldn't be so quick to cheer about it." Shin told Vivian. "That was only the first wave at best. There's still many obstacles between us and Pixel's core."
"Just how many security systems did you install into place?" Ange asked.
"Roughly around 85,000." Shin answered by rubbing the back of his neck. Ange gave the Blue Ranger a narrowed look.
"Really?" Ange questions him and Shin shrugged.
The Rangers and their allies turn to the elevator as it repeatedly opens and closes its doors.
"In anycase, the elevators are no good anymore. We're gonna have to take the stairs." Dean said.
"There are stairs here?" Kaname asked.
"Yeah, of course. I basically built any form of traversal in this place. But that doesn't mean that we'll be safe from the security systems either." Shin said.
"That's all the more reason we need to do this quickly." Dean said with the others nodding in agreement. "Let's move people!"
The Nexus Rangers and their allies run forward in the hallway while Shin has a sense of dread knowing what they'll face, and no doubt destroy in their attempt to stop the virus.
"Oh man…I just know there's going to be a lot of clean up and repairs after this." Shin said.
In the Hub's command room, Pixel continues to keep Yamato contained in the forcefield while also fighting against the virus herself. But as Yamato continues to punch with strong force, Pixel groans as the glitches become more active.
"C-C-Come on, Yamato! You h-h-have to work w-w-with me here!" Pixel said. But Yamato kept on punching the forcefield and it soon changed green as the virus started to affect. "N-N-Not good! The v-virus is affecting the forcefield!"
That's when the virus begins to take greater effect on Pixel's systems as she feels an intense pain throughout her body. She placed her hands on her head as she could feel that her body was starting to break apart, just like what happened when Dean shut her down.
"Oh, no…not again! Aaaahhhh!" Pixel screams before her digital form shatters and disappears along with the forcefield she created to contain the corrupted Yamato.
Now free, Yamato then leaves the command room to hunt down the Rangers and their allies.
With Yamato leaving the room and Pixel's digital form now disabled, someone used the transporter to enter the Hub, and it was Kurt. The evil White Ranger looks at his surroundings with a smile on his face.
"There's no place like home." Kurt said.
Kurt then heads to a different direction from the Nexus Rangers and their allies to head to a certain floor to acquire his target.
As the Nexus Rangers and their allies head down to Pixel's core, they fought against and avoided the Hub's security systems, consisting of flying drones with shock bullets, energy saws hidden within the walls, high intensity lasers, and even wall traps that were designed to crush and entrap intruders.
After traveling seven floors down, the Rangers were fighting against security robots with stun batons, they were able to defeat them.
Dean destroys the last one by punching it on the head as it breaks off from the body as they fall to the ground.
The Nexus Rangers took a moment to pant. Before Salamandinay spoke to them.
"Are you alright?" She asked.
"We've been better…" Dean mutters as he wipes off some sweat from his forehead.
"I get the crushing machines and the drones, but saws and lasers?" Aaron spoke to the Blue Ranger.
"Well excuse me for making sure that the Hub will be extra secure in our absence." Shin said before he checks their current location. "But thankfully we won't have to worry about that any longer. We just go down one more floor and Pixel's core will be a short distance away."
As he was talking, Vivian's noise picked up something that was heading towards her and the others.
"Then let's…" Dean said before Vivian spoke out.
"Hey, guys, I smell something."
"Not this again…" Aaron mutters.
"Kid, we don't have time for…" Alisa said before they heard a smashing and crashing sound above them. "You gotta be kidding me."
After hearing another smash, they look up at the ceiling and a large crack appears and they quickly have a good idea of what's going to come next.
"Move!" Dean shouted as they quickly moved out of the way as something smashed through the ceiling and landed on the floor.
Everyone looks and saw it was Yamato as he glares at them with his red eyes.
Shin looked up at the hole in the ceiling and saw several more on the floors above it.
"Really, Yamato?! Just who do you expect will fix this later?!" Shin exclaimed.
"I think that should be the least of our worries." Alisa told him.
The corrupted Yamato attacks the Rangers and their allies, starting with Claire.
"Whoa!" Claire avoided Yamato's attacks before she moved away from him by doing a cartwheel.
After coating his body with steel, Aaron quickly jumps behind Yamato and grabs hold of him to retrain while Yamato moves around to remove the Black Ranger off of him.
"Come on, Yamato! Snap out of it!" Aaron told the robot.
But Yamato moves backwards to slam Aaron on a nearby wall, while his steel armor protecting him, he is forced to let go of the robot.
Yamato quickly turns to the Black Ranger and begins punching on him several times with Aaron blocking his punches with his arms.
Dean comes to his aid by punching a strength enhanced punch on Yamato's head, sending the robot skidding on the floor.
"You okay, Aaron?" Dean asked.
Aaron groans for a bit as he flicks his arms.
"Been better…" Aaron mutters.
Yamato charges at Dean and Aaron, before he notices Alisa jumping towards him while aiming a kick at the robot. But Yamato catches her kick and grabs hold of her foot.
"Not good…" Alisa said before Yamato spun her and Alisa fell to the ground.
Alisa groans before she sees Yamato jumping to slam both of his hands at the Yellow Ranger, and she avoids it by rolling on the floor. As Alisa stood up both she and Yamato engaged in close combat.
Dean moves to Shin before they speak to each other.
"We're not going to go anywhere like this." Shin said.
Dean thought of a plan before he looked at the hole in the ceiling and had an idea.
"That's it. Shin, can you use your technopathic powers to stop Yamato from moving?" Dean asked.
"What? Of course I can, but that won't stop him for long." Shin said.
"I know, but I just need a moment." Dean told him and Shin felt a sense of dread.
"A moment for what?" Shin asked.
"Well…" Dean said before he and Shin looked at the hole in the ceiling.
Shin sighed while shaking his head.
"Why did I bother asking? Fine! Let's get it over with!" Shin said before he uses technopathic powers to stop Yamato from moving.
"Alisa, move!" Dean said as he charged at Yamato.
Alisa jumps out of the way, leaving Dean to grab onto Yamato. Using his super strength, Dean roars as he slams Yamato on the floor and slams both of his hands on him, smashing Yamato through the floor and making a hole for floor fifty.
The others move towards the Red Ranger.
"That was very clever thinking, Dean." Salamandinay said.
"Thanks." Dean chuckles while rubbing the back of his neck.
"I wouldn't exactly call it clever…" Shin pouted.
"Sorry. I'll fix this later. For now, let's move." Dean said and the others nodded before they jumped down from the hole.
After they landed on their designated floor, they soon saw Yamato standing back up as he glared at the Rangers and their allies.
"Run?" Claire asked.
"Run!" Dean answered.
Everyone quickly runs away from the corrupted robot and heads to Pixel's core with Yamato following them.
Knowing that the elevators are malfunctioning due to the virus, Kurt uses his sonic vibration powers to create holes on several floors as he heads down from level to level.
After arriving at his designated floor, Kurt is now walking in the hallway and soon arrives at his destination.
Kurt is now standing in front of a large gate similar to the Power Vault with an 'X' symbol on it.
Kurt types on the keypad and enters the four-digit code; 0-2-0-1.
The retinal scanner soon appeared and moved in front of Kurt's eye to scan it.
After that the vault soon opens and Kurt walks inside before the lights turn on. Like the Power Vault, this vault contains weapons and items once used by past villains who once fought past Ranger teams and most of them were placed on pedestals.
The blaster/handgun used by the alien bounty hunter Sledge.
Madame Odius' magic mallet.
Zeltrax's sword.
Molter's fire swords.
Trakeena's staff.
The Venjix Virus' Gen 13 Body.
Psycho Red's sword.
Lord Zedd's Z Staff.
Despite how powerful each of these weapons were, Kurt was only here for one thing, and he soon found it as he approached it with a smile on his face.
"There you are."
The Nexus Rangers and their allies continue to run as Yamato still chases them. Shin soon spotted a large door in front of them and recognized it.
"There! That's where we need to go!" Shin told them.
They quickly moved towards the door and saw it was heavily locked with a small computer placed beside it.
Yamato was about to charge into attack, but Claire stops him by creating an energy shield to block his path.
"Yeah! Try to break through that!" Claire said.
Yamato begins punching on the floor and after the fourth and fifth punch, cracks start to appear on the Pink Ranger's shield.
"I can't hold him for long!" Claire said.
"I just need a few seconds!" Shin said as he begins typing on the computer, but the virus interferes with him. "Come on! Not now!"
As Shin begins to struggle to enter the right codes, the cracks on Claire's shield grew larger and larger from Yamato's powerful punches.
"Shin, hurry!" Claire told him.
Shin screams in frustration as he punches on the computer.
"Oh screw it!"
The Blue Ranger uses his technopathic powers to take control of the computer and repel the virus, giving him enough time to open the locks on the door and force it to open.
"Move! Move!" Dean told the others as they quickly moved in the room.
Claire was the last one to enter the room as she continued to maintain her energy shield as it was on the verge of shattering.
"Shin, close the door! Hurry!" Claire told him.
"I know, I know!" Shin uses his powers to close the door.
But then Yamato shatters Claire's shield and soon runs towards the closing before it closes on him and blocks his path, but the door was still partially open, meaning Yamato could still smash it down or force it to open.
"You could've closed completely?" Ange said.
"Hey, it's the best that I can do, especially with this virus still affecting the Hub." Shin said.
They could hear Yamato punching on the door as it began to budge with each other.
"That won't hold him for long." Dean said.
"I know. But at least we're here." Shin said as they turned to the second door which was made out of glass with metal.
"That's good but I doubt Yamato won't wait until we're done." Aaron said as they could still hear Yamato punching on the door.
"Which is why you four are going to stay here while I focus on resetting the Hub." Shin told them.
"So we're supposed to keep a rampaging robot busy while you play computer geek?" Claire said. Shin shrugged before they heard the corrupted Yamato punching on the door.
"You better work fast." Alisa said before the four Nexus Rangers moved towards the door.
"Noted." Shin said before he and the others move to Pixel's AI core.
Just as Yamato broke down the door and entered the room, the four Nexus Rangers assumed their stance and were ready to fight against their corrupted robot ally.
"I'm really sorry about this, Yamato. But this is for your own good!" Dean said as he charged forward to attack Yamato.
The Red Ranger throws in two punches, but Yamato parries them and grabs onto Dean's shirt and slams him to the ground.
"Hey!" Aaron charges forward to help Dean as he attacks Yamato with a punch.
Yamato parries it and backhanded punches the Black Ranger on the face and Aaron stumbles back.
Alisa throws in two kicks at Yamato, but he avoids them and punches at the Yellow Ranger, she avoids it by spinning to the side.
Claire then jumps at Yamato and lands a kick on his face and the robot is forced to stumble back.
"How do you like that?" Claire said. Yamato glares at the Pink Ranger causing her to gulp. "Okay…So not that much."
The other Rangers moved to her side and were once again ready to fight Yamato.
"I hope Shin's having better luck than us." Dean said.
After opening the second door, Shin and the others soon enter Pixel's AI core, both Salamandinay's group and Ange's group took a moment to study their surroundings.
The room was quite large and was filled with large supercomputer drives and lights that had a powerful glow.
"Amazing…So this is Pixel's physical form." Salamandinay said as she studies the tech built into the core.
"Well what did you expect? I built her." Shin said.
Shin quickly moves to the keyboard with a screen on top of it and begins to type on it.
"But I presume there's more to the story, correct?" Salamandinay asked.
"Yeah, there is. In the beginning Pixel was a simple logistics program I designed. A personal companion to play chess with. But over time and as her program continues to learn about the world and develop from the experience, she becomes so much more. Along with a few improvements from me, she became something more unique and extraordinary than anything I could imagine. She's basically my pride and joy." Shin said.
"So Pixel is basically your own child, right?" Salamandinay asked.
Shin coughs.
"Well…Not taking a page from Alisa and Claire, I like to think I'm still seventeen. But I guess there's no denying it, which is why I'm not going to lose her like this." Shin said as he continues to type on the computer.
"So how long will this take?" Ange asked.
"Not long. If the security inside doesn't interfere with me." Shin said which made the others blink.
"Security?" Ange said.
"Inside?" Salamandinay said.
That's when parts of the ceiling opened up and appeared out of them were mechanical tendrils with claws designed for grabbing with glowing blue eyes as they looked at them.
Everyone looks at the Blue Ranger as he shrugged while continuing to type.
"What? I did say the Hub has 85,000 security systems." Shin told them.
"But you weren't going to tell us about this one?!" Ange exclaimed.
"Just hold them while I work!" Shin told them.
"Fine!" Ange said as she and Tusk pulled out their guns.
Salamandinay and Naga pulled out their swords with Kaname readying her spear.
The tendrils move out to grab them, Ange and Tusk fire at most of them with their guns while Salamandinay, Naga and Kaname cut them down with their blades.
Vivian calls out a few of the tendrils.
"Hey, over here!"
The tendrils move towards to grab her, but Vivian avoids as they smash into the wall.
"Miss me!" Vivian playfully said.
"Hey, try to be careful. Most of the tech is delicate." Shin said as Vivian leads them away, Shin sighs while shaking his head. "Oh well. I suppose that should be the least of our worries."
As the others fight to hold the tendrils back, Misty was hiding behind a wall since she'll get in their way since she doesn't have training in combat like them.
Misty watches Ange as she continues to fire at the tendrils. Seeing her fighting reminded Misty of the difference between them. Despite losing everything, her royal status, her mother, father and even her sister's love for her, Ange continues to fight and survive.
While Misty could only sit on the sidelines while everyone else battled the threat in front of them.
But Misty soon saw a group of tendrils move towards Ange from behind and was going to attack her.
"Angelise, look out!" Misty calls out.
"Huh?" Ange blinks before turning around and the tendrils heading towards her to attack and it was too late to avoid them.
Misty jumps in and manages to push out of the way as they fall on the floor together. Ange was able to use this chance to fire at the tendrils as they were forced to pull back.
After they sat up, Ange and Misty turned to each other.
"A-Are you alright?" Misty asked, Ange turned away from her.
"Don't think this changes things between us." Ange told her, and Misty lowered her head in sadness. "But…"
Misty raised her head before Ange said.
"Thanks." Ange said.
"Angelise…" Misty said.
Both exile princesses stood up, Ange at more tendrils as Misty covered her ears.
"I'm amazed you're not screaming right now." Ange said.
"Well believe it not, I went through several difficult ordeals when I arrived in this world." Misty said.
As they continue to fight off the tendrils, several continue to appear.
"Shin, we can't keep this up!" Tusk said before he ran out of ammo.
He was about to reload, but the tendrils soon grabbed onto his hands and his head before they lifted him up to the ceiling.
"Tusk!" Ange aimed her gun to fire at the tendrils to free him.
But several move in and grab onto her arms and wrists and force her to let go of her gun before more tendrils move in and pin her to the ground.
"Angelise!" Misty said before one tendril grabs onto her neck and pulls her back.
The tendrils then grab onto Salamandinay as they pull her up.
"Lady Salamandinay!" Naga and Kaname said in worry before the tendrils grab onto them as well.
Shin soon saw the tendrils manage to grab onto Vivian as she led them away from the Blue Ranger.
Shin rapidly types on the computer as he is almost done.
"Come on, come on. Almost there!" Shin said as he just needed to enter one more password to reset the Hub.
Shin types in; Nexus Rangers plus Pixel equals.
That's when the tendrils grab onto him by his neck and arm, but Shin enters the last words to complete the password.
One Team. Shin quickly pressed the enter button before the tendrils pulled him away and words appeared on the screen.
Password Accepted
Resetting Hub
The lights in Pixel's core soon turned off.
In the battle against the corrupted Yamato, Dean was on the ground with Yamato holding him there with his foot on his back while at the same time, he was holding Aaron above him to give the Black Ranger a back breaker.
Alisa and Claire land a double kick on Yamato as he stumbles back off of Dean while letting go of Aaron as he falls to the ground.
"You guys alright?" Claire asked.
"Not really…" Dean groans as he and Aaron stand back up with Aaron popping his back.
"Shin, really owe us for this…" Aaron said.
They soon saw Yamato approaching them, and the four Nexus Rangers were to fight him. But at that moment, Yamato's eyes turned off before he fell to the ground.
The Rangers blinked in confusion before the lights went off.
"Shin, did it! He reset the Hub!" Dean cheered.
"And not a moment too soon…" Claire sighed in relief.
In the Hub's data servers, due to the reset, the virus stops advancing before it could corrupt more of the systems. Then a few seconds later, the computer virus begins to disappear, and the Hub's systems begin to restore itself.
In Pixel's AI core, the lights turned back on, and the tendrils were deactivated as they let go of Shin and the others and fell to the floor.
"That was a close one." Shin said as he removed one tendril from his shoulder. He then spoke to the others. "Is everyone alright?"
"I'm fine." Salamandinay said as she removed a tendril around her neck.
Kaname and Naga also removed the tendril that was on them.
Vivian landed on the ground after the tendrils deactivated.
"That was fun! We should do it again!" She said.
"Yeah…No." Shin said.
Ange sat up while rubbing the back of her neck, that's when she saw Tusk falling right towards her.
As Misty stood up while rubbing on her neck, everyone in the room soon heard a crashing sound. They looked and saw that Tusk had fallen on top of Ange with his face between her legs.
"Oh my!" Vivian blushed while Misty quickly covered her eyes and turned away.
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to stare!" Misty said.
While Tusk has a worry on his face, Ange growls before she kicks him off of her. Ange stood up and began kicking on his bottom once again.
"Huh. Deja vu." Shin said before he realized something. "Oh wait, Pixel!"
Shin quickly went back to the computer to bring Pixel back online.
After the lights turned back on, both Dean and Aaron helped the deactivated Yamato stand up before he went online as his eyes turned back on and stood on his own.
The four Nexus Rangers moved in front of their robot ally while still worried he might attack.
"Yama…Is that you?" Aaron asked. Yamato shook his head.
"No, it's the washing machine." Yamato responded, which relieved their worries.
"It's him." Claire said.
"Well, that's one problem solved. What about Pixel?" Dean said as they turned to the second door.
After typing for a short moment, Shin was able to bring Pixel back online as her face appeared on the screen.
"Pixel! Pixel, can you hear me?" Shin calls out. Pixel opens her eyes.
Then the Hub's AI and Shin's creation spoke to him, but…
"Error. Voice not recognized. Error. Voice not recognized. Error. Voice not recognized." Pixel repeated.
After hearing this, Shin was shocked and devastated.
"No…No it can't be. I can't be too late…" Shin mutters.
"Shin…" Salamandinay said as she looked at him in concern. That's when they heard Pixel saying…
"Pfft…"
Everyone in the AI core blinks before they look at the screen and Pixel begins to laugh.
"Hahaha! You should've seen the look on your face!"
Shin nearly tripped before he spoke to Pixel.
"Can you not give me a heart attack please! I was really worried!"
"Sorry, sorry." Pixel said.
That's when Pixel appeared in her digital form. The AI then took a moment to stretch as she felt greatly relieved right now.
"Oh yeah. I never thought I would be so glad to be shut down…" Pixel said.
The other Nexus Rangers and Yamato soon entered the AI core, and spotted Pixel digital form.
"Pix!" Claire quickly moves to the AI. "Are you alright? Tell me you're, okay?"
"Claire, relax. I'm fine, I don't feel any glitches. So the virus should be gone." Pixel told them.
"But just in case, we should do a full search. And this time I'm not taking no for an answer." Shin told her.
"Right. That's fair." Pixel said before she brought out her screen and keyboard.
Using both computers, Shin and Pixel did a full search of the Hub's data servers for any trace of the virus.
"Well, how does it look?" Dean asked.
"Despite the damages throughout floors 42 to 50, there's no trace of the virus anywhere. Both Pixel and the Hub are the picture of health." Shin said.
"Hell yes! Isn't that great, Pix?" Vivian asked.
"Yes, very. But still, I felt embarrassed that you have to see me like that. I'm never going to let that down." Pixel said with her hands on her face.
"There, there, it's going to be okay." Claire said, rubbing on her back.
"But I'm still trying to figure out how a virus infected the Hub's system in the first place." Shin said.
Dean hummed as he thought about it.
"Hmmm…Wait, what if this is a distraction somehow?" Dean asked.
"What do you mean?" Vivian asked.
"Pixel, can you do a security check? I need to know if someone has entered the Hub and if they gain access anywhere." Dean said.
"You got it." Pixel nodded before she brought out the security records. "Dang. Most of the data records have been corrupted, it's going to take me hours to repair all of this…Hold on…Impossible."
"What is it?" Salamandinay asked.
"Looks like Dean's hunch was correct. Someone did infiltrate the Hub, using our own transporter." Pixel told them which surprised them.
"What?" Aaron said.
"So, someone used this whole virus chaos simply to distract us while they infiltrated the Hub. And we fell for it." Shin said.
"But who could it be?" Misty asked.
Pixel brings out the camera records but most of the footage was blurry.
"Wish I could tell you right away. But the camera records are fuzzy at best. I'll do my best to restore them and I'll…" Pixel said before she notices something. "Wait, I found something."
Pixel brought out a security record on her screen and saw that their mysterious intruder had gained access to a certain room.
"What? This can't be right…Oh, no." Pixel said with some dread in her voice which drew the others' attention.
"What's wrong?" Dean asked.
"The X-Vault…" Pixel turns to her friends. "The intruder had accessed the X-Vault!"
The Nexus Rangers were shocked and worried to hear that.
"What?!" The Rangers said at the same time while leaving most of their allies confused while gaining Ange's attention after she stopped kicking Tusk.
"What's going on?" Ange asked.
No sooner had they learned someone had accessed the X-Vault, the Nexus Rangers, their allies and Ange's group quickly rode the elevator and had arrived on the floor where the Vault is placed.
They were now running in the hallway and arrived at the X-Vault as they stood in front of it.
"This is the X-Vault?" Kaname said.
"It looks like the Power Vault." Naga said.
"The appearance might be the same. But beneath here lies the dark side of Ranger history." Shin told them.
"How so?" Salamandinay asked.
"You're about to see." Dean said.
The Red Nexus Ranger quickly typed on the X-Vault's keypad and entered the password. 0-2-0-1. The retinal scanner soon appeared and scans the Red Ranger's eye.
With that the X-Vault soon opens, the Nexus Rangers and their allies move inside as the lights turn on.
The Nexus Rangers and Pixel check to see if everything is still here while their allies and guests look at the weapons once used by past Ranger villains. Salamandinay was able to recognize some of them from footage from the Legendary Database.
"Dean, is this?" Salamandinay said, Dean nodded.
"Yep. What you're looking at is the history of evil that the Power Rangers had fought against." The Red Ranger told her.
"Like the Power Vault, the X-Vault contains weapons and gear used by their greatest enemies." Shin explained to them.
"You don't say." Ange said as she looked at the sword of Prince Vrak.
Tusk was looking at Wrench's Axe.
"Yeah, evil is right, they look creepy." Tusk said before turned forward and saw what appeared to be a mean looking face.
Tusk quickly moved back and saw it was the mask of Lothor.
Alisa notices that before she turns to Tusk and looks at the mask.
"Yeah, I know, it's not much to look at. But don't worry, it's just a mask." Alisa said.
"But what kind of villain did this belong to?" Tusk asked.
"The kind you don't want to mess with." Alisa simply answered before she moved in her search.
As Vivian helped in the search, she spotted the blasters once used by the Cybervillain Roxy.
"That looks cool!" Vivian said as she approached the blasters and was going to stop them, but Shin stopped her by slapping on her hand. Vivian turns to the Blue Ranger while rubbing on her hand. "Hey! What was that for?"
"And for those who didn't visit either vaults, do not touch anything in here. That's the number one rule that we follow." Shin told her.
Vivian pouted with her arms folded.
"Party pooper." She said.
"Kids these days." Shin mutters while shaking his head.
Pixel then saw what was missing as she approached the pedestal and learned what it was.
"Oh, no. Everyone, over here!" She calls out to the others.
They quickly moved to the AI and saw the now empty pedestal.
"That's not good." Aaron said.
"Pixel. Inventory search, we need to know what was taken." Dean told her.
"On it." Pixel nodded.
The AI brings out her computer and does the said search, she soon learns what was stolen from this vault.
"That's not good." Pixel said.
As her friends look at her, Pixel soon enlarges the screen and shows a handheld device called the Reanimizer.
"Reanimizer?" Ange said.
"What is that?" Salamandinay asked.
"Trouble." Dean simply answered.
After acquiring the item he was searching for, Kurt left the Hub and returned to the Kaiser Sphere as he entered the command room where Prince Crimson, General Swartz, and Cyber were waiting for him.
"Hey, there. I didn't keep you waiting, did I?" Kurt asked.
"You insolent cur…!" General Swartz was about to cut him down for his disrespect, but Prince Crimson raised his hand, ordering him to stand down and the general obeyed.
"Save us your petty sense of humor and show us the item." Prince Crimson told him.
"Man…You really need to lighten up. But here it is." Kurt said.
Kurt brings out and throws the device he had taken from the X-Vault to Cyber as he catches it and he along with Prince Crimson and General Swartz looks at it.
The device resembles a handheld disk device with a blue grip and a disk. This is a Reanimizer, a device once used by the alien criminal Ryjack.
Being the scientist that he is, Cyber was deeply in awe of this device.
"Incredible. So this is a Reanimizer." Cyber said.
"Yeah, I know it's amazing. I know you already have the means to resurrect your fallen warriors. But with this, you can bring back anyone you want and make them stronger too." Kurt said.
"Still…these devices are extremely rare to come across. I never thought they actually existed until now." Cyber said.
"Then I presume I've earned your trust?" Kurt asked.
"It's a start. For now. But make no mistake, if you and this Embryo ever thought to betray me then I'll make sure you'll regret it dearly." Prince Crimson told him. Kurt chuckles.
"Then you have no reason to worry about that. My master is a lot of things, but he's a man of his word. But doesn't he'll take betray so easily either." Kurt told him.
"Hmph. Very well, I'll keep that in mind. If we're done here, then leave, now." Prince Crimson said.
"But of course. It's a pleasure to do business with you, I hope we can do this again." Kurt said before he left the room.
After he left the room, General Swartz checked cameras to see if he was truly gone and there was no sign of Kurt anywhere in the Kaiser Sphere.
Swartz then turns to the prince to speak with him.
"Your highness, I know I shouldn't question your judgement, but are you certain we can trust that human and this master of his?"
"Oh please, Swartz, I thought you knew better than that. I trust him more than I trust an insect. But regardless he and his master will prove useful to me. Once they outlive their usefulness, then I'll have to deal with them myself." Prince Crimson said.
"I see. Then I suppose it was foolish of me to ask." Swartz said.
"In the meantime, I'll be in my lab and study this device. I'll be sure to make improvements to it to serve our cause." Cyber said.
"See that you do, Cyber." Prince Crimson said. Cyber bowed before the prince before he left the room. "I hope you're ready Rangers, because I'm going to make sure you'll pay for the humiliation you gave me."
To be continued...Legends and the Legacy of Yellow
There you have it, hope you like it. Review to tell me what you think of the story.
Also, here's a bit of a challenge for you guys. Can you tell me the one Power Rangers' reference I made in this chapter?
Here's a hint, it's related to the greatest Power Rangers villain and starts with a 'Z'.
