A/N: I'm excited to write yet another horror fic, but this one will be with Mario characters. So, sit back, relax, and enjoy reading!
Mario knocked on the door to Peach's castle. She was throwing the biggest party of the century, with all of their friends, close and distant-and Pauline. Everyone was there; the inhabitants of the Mushroom Kingdom, the Rogueportians-and Pauline.
A small blue Toad answered the door. It was Toadbert.
"Hello Mario!" he squeaked. "The princess has been waiting for you!"
Mario chuckled. "Okay, well I'm gonna go find her. Thanks Toadbert." The small toad nodded and shut the door after Mario came in. The main hall was covered in streamers and decorations, and pictures of Peach and Mario lie strewn along the wall of the hallway. Mario smiled and walked further into the party. Toadbert stayed back, however, to lock the door. Toadbert grabbed a stepstool and stood on it to latch the lock above the doorknob. Little did he know, someone stood behind him, waiting for the right moment to strike.
The green laser fired from the gun in an instant, and it went right into Toadbert's back. He screamed and fell off the stepstool.
"HEEEEELLPPPP!" he screamed, but the music from the party was too loud for anyone to hear him. The toad cried in agony as a small purple mushroom sprouted from his head. His skin became white with large red spots all over. Lastly, his eyes went blank and bloodshot. He stood up and the person who shot him ran back into the party. Toadbert had been infected.
The party raged on. The Kongs were all having an amazing time, except for Cranky Kong, who was…well…Cranky.
"Aw come on Cranky lighten up! Have some fun for once in your life!" said DK to his grandfather.
"Well I can't be having fun when these IDIOTS keep blaring this HORRIBLE MUSIC!" yelled Cranky Kong. "I'm getting a cup of punch!" he said and walked off. He walked towards the snack tables. He saw Mallow, Boomerang Bro, Lemmy, and Lahla at the table as well. Cranky grabbed a cup and the ladle from the punch bowl and poured the liquid into the cup. Suddenly, he felt a bite on his leg. He looked down to see blood covering his ankle and a familiar Toad face looking at him.
"AAAAAAAAAH!" yelled Cranky Kong. He fell to the ground, and the music abruptly stopped after the scream. Zombie Toadbert crawled off of Cranky and onto Mallow's back. He sank his teeth into the cloud's neck and Mallow burst out crying in pain and agony. Cranky only saw Lahla get eaten by Toadbert before everything was cut to black.
"OH MY GOD MY PARTY IS RUINED NOW!" yelled Peach as she watched the three get eaten by one of her servants. Boomerang Bro and Lemmy tried to run, but they also got caught and torn apart rather quickly.
"AH LEMMY! That's my child!" yelled Bowser. He started to sob as the chunks of Lemmy flew onto the closest party guest, Lakilulu, who, in all honesty, really deserved it.
"EVERYONE RUN!" Yelled Peach into her microphone and everyone stormed out of the main party area and into the depths of the castle. There were three main groups:
Group 1: Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy, Rosalina, Pauline, Wario, Bowser, Wendy, Diddy Kong, Dixie Kong, Kooper, Roy, Morton, Goomba, Hammer Bro, Cappy, Wiggler, Bombette, Flurrie, Goombario, Goombella, Watt, Vivian
Group 2: Yoshi, Birdo, Waluigi, Ludwig, DK, Petey Piranha, Boo, Dry Bones, Blooper, Larry, Fire Bro, Toadsworth, Lakilester, Lakilulu, Miss Mowz, Zip Toad, Arfur, Tiny Kong, Peeka, Jojora, Geno, E. Gadd, Mona
Group 3: Toad, Toadette, Bowser Junior, Kamek, Nabbit, Iggy, Lakitu, Koopa Troopa, Funky Kong, Monty Mole, Bobbery, Kammy Koopa, Bow, Parakarry, Sushie, Yoshie, Starlow, Toadina, Kylie Koopa, Professor Frankly, Koops, Koopie Koo
They spread all throughout the castle to escape the horrid mushroom zombies.
IN THE STREETS…
A group of Shy Guys were walking out of a restaurant near the princess's castle. None of them except the yellow Shy Guy noticed the six zombies heading towards his group of friends.
"Guys! Guys! L-L-Look!" he stuttered. The others looked up, but the zombies were already extremely close. They tackled the red Shy Guy, eating him and tearing off his flesh. The green and blue Shy Guys screamed and ran, but Zombies Lahla and Cranky Kong bit them on the stomach. The yellow Shy Guy looked around and saw his friends being eaten, before Toadbert chomped down on his neck and ate him alive.
Over the course of an hour, the Mushroom Kingdom was being infiltrated by zombies. The hoard of zombies slowly made their way to Peach's castle…
BACK AT THE CASTLE:
Group 1 immediately ran towards the stairs and scampered up them. They hid behind the railing to catch their breath for a moment.
"Um, you guys do realize that they can still see us? The railing doesn't make us invisible!" exclaimed Diddy Kong.
"Yeah, but they can't climb up the stairs right? So we're safe!" cheered Watt. Once she said that, the zombie hoard broke through the main doors, sending wooden pieces flying everywhere. A hoard of the mushroom zombies made their way up the stairs. In the hoard were Toadbert, the red Shy Guy, and many other civilians.
"Maybe I can ask them to go away?" Watt said, and walked over to the front of the stairs. "Okay, you guys are really scaring us so I'm going to have to ask you to go away." she said to the zombies. They didn't stop, and one of them grabbed her ankle.
"AHHHHHH!" she screamed. Peach grabbed a frying pan from her pocket and slammed the back of it into the zombie's face, making it fall backwards down the stairs and taking a few down with them.
"Hooray for Peach!" said Goomba.
"Guys get off the railing!" yelled Luigi as he realized that the zombies were now on the railing. One of them grabbed Flurrie's collar.
"Oh dear! Someone please-" she tried to call for help but the zombie dug into her neck and she flopped around like a dying fish.
"NO FLURRIE! SHE WAS THE MOST FAMOUS OF US ALL!" Vivian cried and Mario slapped her.
"What about me?" he asked angrily.
"You guys, we don't have time to argue! Let's run!" said Goombario, and everyone followed him down the hall.
Group 2 made a quick right turn from the party room and ran into the kitchen.
"Kitchen staff, oh kitchen staff! Please help us so we don't die!" Petey sang.
"SHUT UP! You're going to attract the zombies!" yelled Lakilulu and everyone punched her in the face. "OWWW!" she screamed and fell to the ground. The kitchen staff lifted their heads from under the counter to reveal their purple mushroom on top of their heads.
"Oh God, they're infected!" shrieked Miss Mowz. All of the zombies started coming towards them.
Fire Bro screamed and pulled fireballs from who knows where. "EAT FIRE!" he screamed and threw the fireballs at the zombies. He missed.
"Okay, all in favor of sacrificing Fire Bro and Lakilulu say Aye!" questioned Ludwig.
"AYE!" screamed everyone except Fire Bro and Lakilulu. Petey picked up the two and threw them to the zombies. Fire Bro screamed as the zombies dug into his face, and Lakilulu was immediately overtaken by the zombies. They bit into her flesh and spit it out because she tasted rotten. The two sacrifices cried as they died.
"Okay, now that that's over with-" Jojora started.
"Save the chit chat, let's get the heck out of here!" screamed Yoshi and everyone followed him to the billiard room.
Group 3 scrambled into the foyer, where they all ran towards the back door.
"Okay, I'm gonna open this door," said Koops.
"Be careful Koopsie," said Koopie to her boyfriend. Koops nodded and opened the door.
"AHHH!" yelled Koops as the zombies completely ran over him, gnawing and tearing at his skin whenever they could. It was like a tidal wave of zombies. The rush took down Koopa Troopa and Lakitu as well. Koopie screamed in horror as her boyfriend was eaten.
"I'll save you Koopsie!" she exclaimed and dove into the zombies. Everyone that was still alive facepalmed before running back into the party room.
They entered the blacklight room where the zombie massacre began. Everyone ran through the room into another hallway, but Parakarry stayed back. He saw a dark object on the ground with a green line pulsing from the middle of it. He picked it up, and found that it was…
"A GUN? WHO IN THEIR RIGHT MIND WOULD BRING A GUN TO A PARTY?" he screamed. The zombies had been attracted to the screaming and had basically surrounded him during his rant. He shot at the zombies, but the green laser did nothing to them. The zombies were getting closer and closer, and so Parakarry took the gun to his chest, and fired. The laser hit him, and he began to transform. Before the transformation was complete, he slid the gun down the hallway that his group had gone. Maybe they could figure out who did this, maybe they could survive.
A/N: And there you have it! Since there's a lot of characters in this story I decided it would be best to kill off a decent amount in the first chapter just to start the whole zombie epidemic.
