Ruby turned out to be a better traveling companion than Weiss had originally speculated. Now there were a number of things that still irritated the Schnee, the main thing being that she couldn't assist in combat as much as she would have liked. Without her sword the best Weiss could do is zoom about at high speeds, support Ruby, and hit things with a stick.
The other point of her irritation is that the Wolf girl would not… shut… up! Ruby seemed to feel that she needed to share everything, talk about everything and never enjoy peace and quiet or focus on the task ahead. It also amazed Weiss by how little common sense the girl had or knowledge about the world, but she chalked it up to Ruby being an inferior Faunus.
Dawn soon approached as they continued to trudge through the forest, a thin mist hovering over the undergrowth and grass, disturbed only by the passing of humans… plus Ruby.
"And that's how I ended up eating breakfast that morning, the bread was so good… I didn't know plants could be used to make stuff like that!" Ruby chirped cheerfully, humming as she vaulted over a fallen tree and bounced about like a child. Weiss miserably climbed over the same tree before slipping and landing face first into the moist soil, there was no way those pajamas would be saved at this point. Far too much dirt covered her body along with grimm fluids and a smattering of blood.
To Ruby Weiss was starting to look better and better! Not to mention smell delicious… Whatever that snowberry winter berry something whatever scent was that had covered her the day before was not intricately mixed with the delightful aroma of blood and grimm. Perfection.
Vanishing in a cloud of decaying petals, Ruby zoomed forward in the blink of an eye, her knife embedding into the eye of a Beowolf that had been silently watching from the shadows. The sickening sweetness of her aura wafted into the air soon followed by the gurgling cries of the grimm. Gone was the smile Ruby once bore, instead replaced with a stony mask of indifference as she held back her sorrow and despair for killing yet another of her own kind.
To Weiss she found the lack of amusement or general noise from the wolf girl to be unsettling, although everything about Ruby was unsettling to her. Something about the mask that seemed to fit over those bright silver eyes and mask them in cold neutrality, it made her shudder. It was the same expression her father wore when sending workers to the mines despite their instability.
The life of a Schnee is never simple, nor is it easy. Home life was as frozen and stubborn as the family was headstrong. Rumors circulated and people talked even when Weiss was there within earshot. It hurt, but it built them, molded them. Some may say it's the parents fault for their upbringing, but Weiss liked to think it was the result of many factors…
Coming to this school was a way for her to escape a little and branch out, to sprout a little before the crushing responsibilities of high society returned.
Maybe… just Maybe… she could put up with Ruby's insanity, at least it distracted her…

Insanely small chapter and I apologize for that.
I accidently found some notes from my much younger self (eight years ago or so) about an entirely different story that has now grasped at my brain for all my attention and intelligence. Safe to say... I was distracted. This chapter was originally a whole lot longer but ended up just being a little travel blip and seeing how the two saw each other, its not my best work.
Anyways back to my distracting Idea... back in those days I actually did write fanfics, although under a different user that I think I deleted? I don't remember honestly, anyways one of the ideas that I was fanatically excited about was a cross over between "Mass Effect" and MLP... Its probably obvious now that I've decided to continue my work on said project.
Now I normally wouldn't advertise stories or talk about future ones in an Authors Note... I think? Anyways I'm actually looking for any body that wants to help out, like Beta Readers or Proof Readers, editors? I've never actually worked with anyone on a fic before but it sounds exciting and motivating since that means people working with me instead of just soloing it all. Anyways shoot a PM if your interested, none of my stories are on hiatus yet, just very slow updates as I work on the new one... yah...
