Chapter Four
Breakdown and Knockout followed Blister to meet some of the members of the Talons of Peace. Specifically a group lead by an IceWing NightWing hybrid that insisted on being called Lord Megatron despite his actual name being Shard.
"So I'm going to be their doctor until this war is over?" Knockout asked, "I just hope they aren't brutes!"
"I assure you they are not brutes, Knockout," Blister said, trying not to snap at the shiny red dragon. "Just be prepared to see some scars and blood."
"If this Megatron oversteps his authority I will have no choice to alert Queen Coral of them, I hope you are aware of this Blister," Breakdown said, flying closer to Knockout. "Or if they hurt Knockout. I will not hesitate in telling her of this, if you refuse to tell her yourself Blister."
"I understand your concern Prince Breakdown," Blister replied, "and we are now here."
They landed on an island not that far from the main land. A dark purple NightWing greeted them. His singular red eye was immediately on Knockout, examining his body. The NightWing had a nasty scar that lead to the stub of what remained on his arm.
"I have never seen a dragon like you, your four wings seem quite interesting. You resemble a SkyWing but have antenna… interesting…." the purple NightWing said, his monotonous voice fit his appearance well. "I am Shockwave of the NightWings, who may you two be?"
"Prince Breakdown of the SeaWings, yea I am part MudWing," Breakdown said, "I was not expecting to be meeting with a NightWing."
"I am Knockout of the SilkWings." Knockout said. "Now why may we have to honour of meeting you and not someone else?"
"Because I am one of the more logical thinking dragons," Shockwave said. "I have never heard of a SilkWing before, would you care to tell me more about your tribe while we get to the rest of the group?"
"I'm not that open to sharing about my tribe," Knockout said, following the purple NightWing as he lead them to the rest and the team. "But I wouldn't mind sharing a few things here and there."
OoO
"It's a pleasure to be meeting all of you, I am Knockout of the SilkWings and I will be your medic from here to the end of the war," Knockout said, in front of a large group of dragons. Their eyes focusing on him. "Any questions?"
Multiple voices spoke up, trying to get their questions answered first. Quite selfish in Knockout's opinion. Which probably didn't matter to them.
"Please, get in line, I can't hear anyone if you're all shouting over each other!" Knockout roared, the dragons scurrying into a not-so-perfect line, but it will do. "Now every only gets one question, then they may go to the side, understood?"
He heard lots of yeahs and yes from the group. Shockwave was the first one in line.
"What may your special traits be?" Shockwave asked, "For your tribe at least."
"I am a flamesilk, meaning I can create silk that is like fire, along with immunity to fire," Knockout answered, "Flamesilks only accure if one or both parents are a flamesilk and it is still a fifty-fifty chance. My mother was a flamesilk."
Shockwave stepped to the side and sat next to Knockout. Most likely to hear everyone else's questions so he could have more answers. Quite the wise choice it was.
A purple and yellow SandWing hybrid was next. He looked at Knockout as if he was trying to calculate how much he would be on the black market. Which deeply unsettled Knockout. But, he would have to answer whatever question he had.
"How old are you?" He asked, not that weird of a question.
"I am 23, why do you ask?" Knockout said, he had gotten a few necklaces from as a gift for his hatching day. He could hear them clash together as he moved his head.
"I was just curious," he said, with a halfhearted gesture with his talons before walking away. He didn't bother with staying around to know more about him. "See you around Knockout!"
"See ya!" Knockout said, he turned to look at the next dragon he would have to answer.
It was NightWing hybrid no doubt, she had vibrant magenta eyes, with mostly black scales aside from the purple stars in her wings and stripe makings.
"Where do you come from?" She asked, "My name is Airachnid if you were curious."
"I come from Pantala," Knockout said, "It's a pleasure to meet you Airachnid."
Knockout wasn't going to say anything about how much the black and purple dragon creeped him out. She had the same vibes as Queen Wasp. Which was not a compliment by all means necessary!
OoO
After a long day of questioning, Knockout was finally able to go home with Breakdown. Of course they would be back in the morning but it was still nice to be in the ocean that he has grown to call home.
He never thought he would ever call the ocean home to be honest. Knockout had always been told it was dangerous and cruel. And the only thing good that came from the ocean was Clearsight. But she came from here!
Knockout was surprised that the distant kingdoms were real. He was one of the dragons that thought that Clearsight came from the stars rather than another continent. But he had been so wrong. Which was ok, he had bragging rights for coming here! And being alive too for this long.
But right now, he was only focused on being in the warmth of Breakdown as they lay down in their bed in the shared room. Both of them exhausted from the long day of meeting new dragons and setting up their medical supplies.
How could such a large group know nothing about medical issues and stuff? That still shocked him, even hours later!
As Knockout drifted off to sleep, Breakdown thought about what his mother must have been like. He too eventually falling asleep beside Knockout.
OoO
Somewhere in the rainforest…
Optimus was always a weird RainWing, he had red scales despite not being mad and blue scales despite not being sad. He was always odd.
Today was like any other, sneaking off into the library he found to read. It was hard, but he eventually learned how to read after he understood what letters made what sounds. He just loved to read about his tribes secrets!
Maybe one day Optimus could be like the warrior in his scrolls! Fighting to protect his tribe against another in a brutal war, all in a noble sacrifice.
He hated how they stopped writing and reading! It infuriated him! He hadn't noticed the footsteps behind until the other dragon tapped him on the shoulder.
"Optimus?" Ratchet asked, he was the most skilled medic the RainWings had. His orange and white scales stood out in the library. "What is this place..?"
"This is a library," Optimus said, turning towards his friend. "And this is a scroll! I can teach you how to read one if you want-"
"Look, I know you're into weird stuff Optimus," Ratchet said, interrupting Optimus' ramblings. "But why hide something like this?"
"Because I didn't want it to get wrecked!" Optimus said, maybe a little too serious. His frills becoming a thoughtful and sad blue. It was strange that his frills were the only thing that showed his emotions. "These scrolls have our history!" Optimus went over to grab a scroll written about a the scorching. "Our tribes ancestors had been quite different from us!"
