*Authors Note*Okay you many people are reading this anymore.I have one more adventure in my head and to be honest once it's in there I've got to write it down.I figure what the heck post it anyway (only 17 views on the previous chapter) even if people seemed to have lost interest. I there is more to this maybe another chapter, maybe 2 but only if you guys tell me to keep going.
Samantha Carter exited the wormhole back into the SGC and stormed out of the gate room without so much as a word to General Hammond who was waiting at the end of the ramp. Hammond watched her disappear down the hallway before the rest of her team even made it through the gate. Jack, Daniel, and Teal'c stepped through onto the ramp, all men looking rather uncomfortable with Daniel's face flushed red.
"Colonel, would you care to tell me what happened?" the general asked.
"Well sir, it's….." Jack rubbed the back of his head, "can we talk in your office?"
"Very well. You and I to my office the rest of SG-1 report for your post mission physicals." Hammond headed up to his office while the three men handed off their weapons to the waiting airmen. Once Jack joined him and closed the door he spoke again. "I'm not going to like this am I?"
"Well sir, I don't really like it myself." Jack closed the door and sat across from the general. "We were ambushed straight out of the gate. They only had spears and knives but there were a lot of them. They took our weapons and well, they were running their mouths, who knows what they were saying. Well one realized Carter was a woman. We all reacted when he reached out, Carter decked the guy. We ended up with knives to our throats, the guy ripped open her shirt, before he could go any farther one of the guys pulled the trigger on one of the rifles. They were thrilled. Started shooting up the trees and bushes. Carter wanted to take them out, I stopped her. As it was I saw the guy holding her had nicked her neck when she was smacking the guys hands away. With them having our weapons I didn't want to chance it. I figured, correctly by the way, they would run out of ammo quickly. After they were all out then I gave the command to fight back. They were easily enough disarmed at that point, we grabbed our weapons and left."
"I see. Did they…" the general trailed off not really wanting to ask, afraid of the answer.
"They were a bit too…handsy. Nothing more than an embarrassing groping. Daniel got it too from some lady with a spear. Carter got it worse though, I think she's more pissed I stopped her from fighting back if I'm being honest."
"Right. Okay. Head down to the infirmary and check on your team. Write this up as diplomatically as you can Colonel." General Hammond was cut off by the ringing of his phone." .She did? No, it's fine. I will handle it."
"Please tell me that wasn't about Carter?"
"Oh it was. Apparently Major Carter just left at a rather high speed on her bike." General Hammond sighed, "Give her some space Colonel, she will calm down."

Sam threw the door to the locker room open, oblivious to the guys changing next to her. She threw her ripped outer shirt off and tossed it toward the nearest trash can. She opened her locker, grabbed her leather jacket and headed to the surface. Once she passed the last checkpoint she realized her gloves and helmet were still in her locker. Reaching into her pocket she was grateful to find her keys. Sam jumped on her bike and took off, reaching 50mph as she reached the gate, not even waiting for it to lift she slipped through the space between the gate and the bollard.
Sam flew down the road away from the mountain. How could the colonel let them…. how dare he make her stop. She shifted gears angerly as she took the turns faster than she really should, only caring about getting as far away as possible. The longer she rode, the more reckless she became. Her thoughts were a chaotic storm, filled with anger and frustration. She barely noticed the turns she took, or the cars she sped past.
It happened in an instant. A car swerved into her lane, and Sam's reflexes kicked in. She tried to maneuver around it, but the road was slick from a recent rain. Her bike skidded, and she lost control. The world turned upside down as she was thrown from the bike.
She hit the ground hard, pain exploding in her shoulder and head. She tumbled across the pavement, her leather jacket offering some protection as she slid across the asphalt, but it wasn't enough. When she finally came to a stop, she was lying on her back, staring up at the cloudy sky. The bike lay in a twisted heap a few yards away.
Sam struggled to breathe, the impact having knocked the wind out of her. She tried to move, but her body screamed in protest. She could hear the distant sound of sirens, growing louder with each passing second. People were beginning to gather, their faces blurring together as she struggled to stay the darkness closed in, her last coherent thought was of her team, and the lecture she was sure to get from Janet. Then, everything went black.

Strange voices floated through a pain filled haze. Sam tried to sit up but was gently pushed back down.
"Miss, you were in an accident. You need to be still."
Sam's eyes flew open, she didn't know that voice. Looking around she was obviously in a hospital but she was surrounded by strange faces. She tried to sit up again.
"Miss, I'm Dr. Cody. I really need you to stay still."
"Where am I?"
"You're in the ER."
"No, look, I've got to go." Sam sat up and started pulling off wires and ripping out her IV.
"Miss, no!Don't do that!"
"You really need to stay, just let us make sure you're stable at least." Dr. Cody pleaded.
"No, sorry." Sam jumped off the bed, swaying slightly. She was half in a hospital gown. "Damn it, that was my favorite jacket. Please tell me you have some scrubs I can steal."
Dr. Cody, realizing he wasn't going to be able to change the tall blonds mind reached in a cabinet and pulled out some hospital issued scrubs and handed them to her.
"Thanks. I don't suppose you guys know what happened to my motorcycle?" Sam quickly put on the offered blue scrubs.
"Well from what we heard it wasn't exactly intact when they found you."
"Damn, thank god I didn't bring the Indian today." Sam looked around, "one more favor, can I use your phone? I need to call a cab. Where did you say I was again?"
"Canon City." A nurse answered as she dialed up the phone at the nurses station across from the bay Sam was in.
"Oh this is going to cost a fortune." Sam groaned as she took the offered phone.
"Where are you headed?" Dr. Cody asked.
"Colorado Springs."
"Oh yea, expensive and painful with that nasty road rash across your back. At least let me get you some pain killers."
"No thanks. They really don't work for me." Sam said, turning her attention to the man on the other end of the phone and focused on ordering up a cab home. There was no way in hell she was calling someone from the mountain to come get her.
A nurse handed the doctor a bag. Once Sam hung up he handed it to her. "Here's what's you came in with. I'm sorry to say your clothes didn't make it, neither did your cell phone."
"Oh, I've been in my fair share of accidents, I know the drill." Sam said, taking the bag.
"You're going to have to wait for that cab to get here. You should really let me check you out a little more." Sam just gave him a half smile and walked out the door to wait for her cab.

An hour later Sam was dropped off at her house. She had already fished her keys out of the bag, ready to be home already. The accident, the hospital, this long painful drive all caused her initial fury to melt away to plain misery. As soon as the cab stopped Sam got out, the driver made her pay upfront, it was the only way she could convince him to make the long trip. Entering the house Sam tossed the bag of ruined clothes on the floor and headed toward her room. Sleep, she needed to sleep.
Half way up the stairs her phone rang. Sam thought about ignoring it, she knew she was going to get one hell of a chewing out for the way she left what was a little longer lecture for ignoring the phone? A deep sigh escaped her lips as she turned and picked up the phone.
"Carter."
"Sam, thank god!" Daniel's excited voice came across the line. "We've been trying to get a hold of you for hours now!"
"Daniel. Tell the Colonel he can yell at me tomorrow. I need sleep." Sam said wearily.
"What? No, well yes he's pissed. I don't think the general is too happy either. But Sam that's not why we've been trying to reach you."
"Can't it wait Daniel?"
"No! Sam, wait! We have a mission."
"We just got back Daniel."
"6 hours ago Sam." Daniel said, she could hear the concern in his voice. "We have a diplomatic mission, Janet got herself in a little bit of trouble."
"What do you mean? Isn't she off world taking care of some high ranking official's sick kid?"
"Yea, apparently one of the guards shoved the kid in passing. Janet demanded he apologize, some things happened, it was all rushed when SG-4 radioed in but she slapped the guard. Now she's in jail. They want us, only females can enter the female jail so SG-1 is up, you go see her and find out exactly what happened I figure out how to mount a defense."
"Okay. I'm on my way in. "Sam hung up the phone and moved to the bag of cut up clothes. Pulling everything out she found her boots, one was fine, the other destroyed. Good thing she had more. She dropped the boots and went to her room to grab a new uniform. Looking in the mirror she looked awful. She wiped the blood off the side of her face, grateful to find the injury was in her hairline and concealable. Pulling off the scrub top Sam saw there was specks of blood left behind. She didn't have time to take care of it before going in. Instead she threw on a tank top under her black tee and green blouse, hoping it would be enough to keep any blood from becoming visible.
The road rash on her calf wasn't too bad, Sam picked a few pieces of stone from the abrasions then pulled on a pair of knee high regulation socks sucking in a breath through her teeth at the pain. The boot wasn't going to feel good at all, nope, this was going to suck. Sam finished getting dressed then looked in the mirror. She was presentable, the cute were hidden, blood was all cleaned away. Time to go face the music, she picked up her keys and headed out to her Jeep.

"Well hello Major." Jack said as his XO entered the briefing room. She winced as she sat down, "Oh you're gonna get it alright Major, just not right now."
General Hammond entered the room, "As you were people." He glanced at Major Carter for a second. She briefly made eye contact with him before locking her gaze on her hands folded on the table in front of her. "I believe you all know what is going on. This is not, I repeat, NOT a rescue mission. The Trewins are the most advanced people we have come across that are willing to share their technology. We will not leave Dr. Fraiser in jail, obviously but we are also not shooting our way out of this one. Daniel you are to meet with their equivalent of a legal team and figure out a way to get her out of there. Major Carter you are to go visit the doctor and get her account of what happened as well as make sure she is being treated fairly. I want a report in an hour, I want to know where we stand with this."
"Yes Sir." Jack stood. "Alright guys, lets move out. No gear, no weapons. We don't want to give the wrong impression."
The four members of SG-1 headed down the steps, they could hear the gate already dialing up as they descended the stairs and made their way to the gate room. They didn't have to wait as the gate whoosed to life and they heard the general say "god speed SG-1, let's get her back quickly."
The trip through the wormhole was agonizing for Sam, but she managed to keep it together, at least enough that her team didn't notice. The guards on the other side waiting for them to arrive gave her a funny look and smirked a little.
"You must be the one they called to see the woman." One guard said as he approached Sam.
"You mean, to see the DOCTOR." Sam glared at him.
"Carter." Jack's tone was warning. "Just go with the nice man and see how she is. Report as soon as you see her."
"Yes sir." Sam said. The guard gave the colonel an approving nod and walked off expecting Sam to follow him.
Of course, seeing the nod only pissed Sam off, reminding her once again how angry she was at the man. Between her rising anger and pain in her back and head Sam barely registered that they had entered a building and she was now standing in front of a very earth looking jail cell. Well maybe more of one out of a wild west show, which considering their advanced technology surprised her.
"Sam." Janet reached out toward Sam only to have her hand slapped away by the guard. She just glared at him, the one she used on the most stubborn patients. The guard stepped back slightly. Janet turned her gaze back to her friend, she looked awful. "Sam are you okay?"
Snapping out of her daze Sam met a very concerned gaze of her friend. "I think I'm supposed to be asking you that."
"Yea well. They aren't the most friendly men. The women here are amazing, if you can find one." Janet took a step toward the bars.
"Move back!" The guard stepped forward and smacked the bars with a billy club looking thing.
"You move back or I will break that stick over your head." Sam snapped.
The guard flinched at her tone and the look of pure hatred in her eyes. He then stepped toward Sam in defiance, "You will not threaten the guard!"
"No, no she won't." Janet said trying to calm Sam down without being able to reach out to her. "isn't that right Major?"
Sam glared at the man again before turning her attention back to Janet. "The guys are getting legal advice. They want to know your side of the story and if they've been treating you okay."
"Well as long as I'm doing what they say they are fine. They don't do well with disobedience." Janet sighed. "I lost my temper. I had been dealing with a brat of a patient that just knew way better than I do, I finally got him feeling better, I was tired, physically and mentally from just dealing with all this male chauvinist bull shit when this guard about knocked my patient over. I yelled at him. He yelled back and told me bitches shall remain seen and not heard. I may have smacked him."
"Good for you doc." Sam smiled wearily. "I don't think I'd have the same amount of restraint."
"Yea well, it landed me here." Janet plopped down on her bunk along the back wall.
"Carter to Colonel O'Neil" Sam called into her radio.
"No, you may not use that in here." The guard said.
"Yea Carter, how's the doc?"
"She's been treated fairly. The story from SG-4 is pretty dead on."
"Well we are going to be a while. Get back here. Looks like assaulting the guard holds a 6 month sentence."
"You will desist!" The guard stepped toward Sam.
"Yes sir. Are we sure plan B isn't called for?"
"No, Carter. I think we can work things out."
"Good, I think I'm going to hang out here and keep Dr. Fraiser company." Sam said.
"Carter?"
"Sorry sir."
"Woman are you touched? I clearly told you to desist your communication!" He smacked the radio out of Sam's hand. "Stupid woman!"
Sam looked at Janet whose face fell. She punched the guard square in the nose. Blood started flowing instantly as he fell to his butt. They must have been watching from somewhere because two more men came running in. They grabbed Sam by the arms, it took all she had not to scream as their fingers dug into injured flesh. She put up no fight as they opened Janets cell and shoved her inside. Sam stumbled and fell at Janet's feet.
"Damn it Sam!" Janet said. Seeing the flash of pain on Sam's face Janet moved quickly to her side. "Sam? What's going on? They barely touched you."
"Nothing. I'm fine." Sam said with eyes closed trying to regain her composure.
"Right." Janet said, gently pushing Sam onto her back intent on figuring out what was wrong.
Sam cried out and quickly rolled off her back on to her uninjured side before bolting up and over to the toilet where she deposited what was left of long ago eaten breakfast.
"Okay, get it out." Janet soothed. She placed a gentle hand on Sam's arm and guided her to the bunk. "Sam tell me what is going on."
"I may have done something stupid." Sam groaned out. With considerable difficulty she removed the blouse and heard Janet gasp. "I'm not going to be able to get this shirt off."
Janet saw several bloody blotches on the back of Sam's shirt. Carefully she lifted it off her friend only to find a blood covered tank top under it. Obvious road rash peeking out the top across her shoulder and down her arm.
"Jesus Sam what are you doing off world like this!" Janet was already planning on laying into whom ever was on duty for her pre mission physical.
"No one knows Janet." Sam sounded defeated.
As Sam explained what had happened Janet took her black tee and tore strips from it. Moving to the sink she soaked a few pieces in cold water before moving back to try and clean the area as best as she could given their circumstances.
"Sam I can not believe." Janet stopped and sighed. A lecture could wait, Sam needed a friend now not the scolding she wanted to give her. "Okay, lets take care of this. But is there anything else I should know about?"
Sam hung her head then lifted the front of her shirt to reveal some spectacular bruising. "Nothing's broken, but it's pretty painful. I have a cut on my head, I don't know how bad, I was unconscious for a while apparently and there is more road rash on my leg and ankle."
"What do you mean you don't know how long?"
"One minute I was sliding across the asphalt the next I'm looking up at a bunch of doctors I didn't know. It took an hour to get home and Daniel called just as I walked in. He said we had returned to the SGC six hours prior."
Janet tilted Sam's head up toward the light and watched her eyes sluggishly react to the light.
"Okay, so an hour out and an hour back maybe 30 minutes waiting for that cab? So we're looking around three-ish hours of being unconscious. That's not good Sam, not….. not for you."
"Well, it, uh only took 15 minutes to get there." Sam almost whispered her confession.
"To Canon City?" Janet looked shocked. "Sam that's a 45 minute trip easy. You must have been going…"
"Around 130."
Janet stood and walked away. Sam knew she was pissed and wisely kept quiet even though it was taking quite a bit of effort to remain upright.
Janet turned back toward her friend, eyes glassy. "How could you? Did you even think of what would happen to Cassie if you died on that death trap? And without a helmet? Damn it Sam. Do you know how many people count on you? And I don't just mean your knowledge of the gate. Your job is dangerous enough, I don't care how bad things went, you can not do this, never again do you hear me?"
"Trust me, I am regretting it." Sam swayed slightly, Janet was immediately by her side and in doctor mode again.
"On your stomach." Janet instructed.
Once Sam settled Janet went about carefully cleaning the mess of road rash across her back and arm. Once she was done there she moved and removed Sam's boot, rolled up her pant leg and gingerly removed the sock, causing a moan of pain from Sam.
"Are you sure nothing's broken Sam?"
"Yea, I've had enough broken bones over the years to know how that feels. I'm just a little sore, honest Janet."
"You have a concussion." Janet finished up with Sam's leg quickly, the other woman had mentioned she cleaned that before she left her house." And I know it's a little worse than sore. That guard barely touched you and I thought you were going to pass out on me right then. Where's this cut?"
Janet sat on the floor next to the bed, level with Sam's head. Sam tried to part the hair where she thought it was. Janet's gentle hands took over the search.
"Well this isn't too bad." Janet said leaning back and looking at her friend. "130, no helmet, and a totaled bike. I can't believe you survived that, let alone fooled the guys into letting you on this mission."
"Yea, well the colonel looked like he was ready to read me the riot act when I got back on base. I'm sure he took what he did notice and chalked it up to me feeling guilty about just leaving like I did." Sam shivered causing herself to wince.
"Okay, I'm going to need you to get some sleep." Janet said.
"First, I want to put my blouse back on. No way I want these neanderthals gawking at me. I might do more than just punch one."
Janet stood and retrieved the shirt in question. "And that is another thing Major Carter. What the hell were you thinking hitting that man?"
"After our last mission, the way they were looking at us. I just couldn't leave you here alone. "Sam said, trying not to cry out as Janet helped her into the shirt.
"My hero." Janet said sarcastically. "Sam, I can take care of myself. It's not like on PXJ-763."
"I know." Sam said, again that was not her finest hour. "I just, I mean…"
"It's okay Sam I do understand. I've had my fair share of men thinking they can grab whatever they want. And that was home, not on some alien planet with knives to your throats."
"You know it wasn't just that. It was the being ordered to stand down. He KNOWS I could have handled them, I could have stopped it before it got that far." Sam practically pouted.
"Sam. Look at me." Janet waited patiently for Sam to meet her gaze. "I can only imagine how amazing it is for you to no longer have to hide a part of yourself from us. I'm going to ask you to think about how you've changed your behavior since then. I'm not saying you are being reckless, I'm not. I am saying you need to remember why you never told anyone, as much as you may hate it I really think you need to just be Sam, regular amazing Sam. You can't just let yourself go, you are going to open yourself up to more danger that way. Think about it from the colonel's point of view. You said they had your rifles right? That's three people you'd have to disarm before they turned the business end toward you or your team mates."
"I could have easily…"
"Sam. Maybe you could have. But what if you tried and one of them managed a wild shot that killed Daniel. I know what you are capable of, it still amazes me. But it's not just you out there. You have a team that has your back, it's not just you against the -1 works so well together, it's the oldest intact team we have for a reason. You guys are family, you need to remember you can trust them just like you always have. If you need to break out the superpowers then by all means do so, I don't want to see any of you dead again-I've had enough of that for two lifetimes."
Sam just sighed. She knew Janet was right. It was just so freeing to be able to stretch her legs so to speak. "I'm sorry."
"You don't need to apologize Sam."
"No, you're right. It's just been so refreshing to not have to hide."
"You don't have to hide anymore Sam, you just don't have to show off quite so much. "Janet winked. "Okay, lay back down. You need to rest, let that crazy body of yours heal some before the guys come save us."
Sam chuckled as she eased herself onto her stomach. "Yea, us damsels in destress."
"Yea that's us. Now rest please." Janet shifted on the floor so her back was resting against the bed. She really hoped the guys would get them out of here soon. With the stakes there was very little chance of being rescued, it was up to Daniel and whatever legal team they were working with to get them both free.
Hey there guys. I have more story brewing, but I want to know if you want it. I'd rather now keep typing away if no one is interested! I know reviewing isn't as popular as it used to be but it keeps me going! Just a little note, that's all I ask, let me know how I'm doing : ) also yes, I am aware I have mistakes in them. Old bad habit, I write it, I re-read it and then I publish it. Sorry, not sorry? Right, well I hope you've enjoyed it! It's been a while since I've rewatched the show so I'm running on just my bad memory for the characters.
