Diesel 10 was stuck in the dump, but the steam engines were still right on track. They shunted trucks and pulled coaches across the island; Henry either taking local passenger trains or heavy goods across the island, James collecting forged metal from the scrapyards, Gordon with his express trains, Percy handling the mail trains or shunting trucks, even Toby trundling along on the tramways, with Thomas on his branchline, and all the while, they were still thinking about the Lost Engine.
He's a really useful engine, you know
All the other engines, they'll tell you so
He huffs and puffs and whistles
Rushing to and fro
He's the really useful engine we adore
He's a really useful engine, you know
'Cause the Fat Controller, he told him so
Now he's got a branch line to call his very own
He's the really useful engine we adore
All the while, Thomas and the other engines were all currently wondering about where Mr. Garcia, Braedey, Rose, and Scooby-Doo have gone off to, all of them concerned for their well-being and safety.
He's the one, he's the number one
Thomas the Tank Engine
He's the really useful engine we adore
With Thomas, he was currently reversing down a section of railway line, ready to couple up to some trucks filled with coal to reload coal bunkers that were needed to be refilled. As he does so, he spotted Henry sitting in an adjacent siding, the LMS 'Black Five' parked by an empty coal bunker. But, Henry's cheeks were as green as his paint, and he didn't look too good.
"Morning, Henry. What's the matter?" Thomas asked, as he reversed past the big green engine. He then came to a stop as he saw Rose standing on Henry's running board. "Oh, Rose! There you are. I was worried about you." Thomas smiled in relief.
"Hey, Thomas. Sorry I worried you for a while." Rose said softly to the blue tank engine. "Scooby and I were wandering about to try and find any clues to try and help you and the other engines, until we came across Henry." She explained.
"Rello." Scooby waved from Henry's cab.
"Henry here sadly has come down with boiler-ache." Rose added, then she goes and wipes a wet cloth over Henry's forehead to try and cool him down. "Easy there."
"I see. Well, l'm collecting 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 trucks of special Island of Sodor coal for you, Henry." Thomas said to Henry, then he began to head off down the line. "I'll be right back."
"Oh, thank you, Thomas." Henry wheezed with a soft smile. "Special coal will make me feel... much better."
"Shh. Easy, Henry." Rose hushed to the big green tender engine, with Scooby helping to move the water tower pipe over to his boiler to help top up his water. "Once we get you your special coal, you'll feel like a better engine in no time." She reassured to him.
"But, I wish I can help Braedey and Mr. Garcia too, by finding them." Thomas said to himself, as he eventually bumped into the trucks with some force to couple them up behind him.
But then, as Thomas bumps into the last truck, it did not get coupled up like the others, and it began to roll off down the track without Thomas even knowing. Then, the truck reaches the buffers at the end of the line, but instead of stopping, with the ringing of a level crossing, a whistle, and a flash of rainbow light, the truck goes through them and vanished into thin air!!
Thomas, unaware of the truck that had disappeared into the buffers, now puffs away out of the siding, now chuffing off with his five coal trucks coupled up behind him to go over to the empty coal bunker where Henry is parked up.
"Hello, Thomas, and your five coal trucks. Vroom-vroom!" Bertie called from a nearby road as he drives by.
What Bertie said seemed to take Thomas aback. "'Five'? But, I was supposed to have six." Thomas was confused as he puffed to where Henry, Rose, and Scooby were. How could he have five coal trucks when there were six trucks in the first place?
A little later, Thomas was going along with his two coaches Annie and Clarabel, along with Scooby and Rose riding inside his cab. As he chuffed along, Thomas was still wondering about what Bertie said to him earlier, him having five coal trucks when he knew that there were six of them in the siding he went down. As he was contemplating about this, he then spotted Percy up ahead, the little green tank engine parked up by the water tower.
"Hello, Percy." Thomas called to his friend.
"Hey, Percy." Rose called.
"Oh! Thomas! I've been worried about you." Percy said to his friend in concern, just as Thomas stopped next to him. "Bertie said you lost a coal truck today."
"Yes. It just disappeared when it went down the siding that lead down towards the old buffers, nearby a little grotto." Rose added. She then stopped for a moment. "Wait... that track... I think I do remember that one..." He mused aloud.
"You do?" Thomas questioned. This was definitely some news to hear from Rose.
"Yes... I think that was the exact same track and buffers that me, Scooby, and Braedey saw when we first arrived here on Sodor." Rose realised as her eyes widened.
"Perhaps those are the buffers that lead off to the secret railway." Percy now suggested.
"And the grotto... it must be the Lost Engine's special platform." Thomas added in as he puts in the pieces.
"Oh, yes!" Percy smiled.
"Then that track can lead us back to the mainland and back home." Rose commented next with a smile.
"Reah." Scooby smiled.
"Percy. You protect those buffers from Diesel 10." Thomas now said to his friend.
"What?!" Percy's face was in shock. Did Thomas just ask him to do something downright crazy?! Did he want him to protect the buffers from a maniacal diesel locomotive with a claw on his roof?
"And I'll find Mr. Garcia and Braedey Martin to tell them the news." Thomas added, and with that, he puffed away down the line.
"Wh-Me? Why me?" Percy called out to Thomas.
"Because you're a brave little engine, Percy." Rose called back, and Thomas puffed away down the line, leaving Percy alone at the water tower.
"Oh. I forgot." Percy said to himself, feeling a little silly.
Meanwhile, down over at the Big Dipper viaduct, Braedey and Mr. Garcia were all currently walking beside the railway line. The two of them have been trying to see if they can find anything revolving around the Lost Engine, but so far, to no avail.
Mr. Garcia had taken off his suit jacket as he walks along, Braedey breathing a soft sigh as he walked along, the two of them getting close to the stone bridge.
"Hello, Twinkle Toes! Remember me???" A loud voice called and mocked from behind them. Both Braedey and Mr. Garcia both stop and look behind them, and they could see Diesel 10 rolling towards them!!
"Run!" Braedey called, both he and Mr. Garcia trying to sprint off towards the nearby hill away from the tracks, the latter getting his jacket and had back on.
"Fat Hatt won't have much use for ya, looking like that." Diesel 10 commented and laughed as he came to a stop with a hiss of his brakes nearby. Braedey and Mr. Garcia ran as far as they can, but the former slips and fell over, the older male turning back to help. "Oh. I see you forgot to bring the whip, you little brat. How careless of you. Say 'hello' to Pinchy!" Diesel 10 laughed evilly, while grabbing both Braedey and Mr. Garcia in the process with his claw.
Then, the BR Class 42 diesel now rolls onto the bridge. As he stopped in the centre arch, Diesel 10 now swung his claw outwards, so Braedey and Mr. Garcia were both now hanging over the side of the viaduct, leading down to an over-100ft drop into the valley below. "Okay, Twinkle Toes, and you too, you brat. I know about the buffers." He began to say.
Both Braedey and Mr. Garcia look down at the valley below them, then they started to see keystone sections of the bridge arches now starting to fall into the ravine below.
"What's happening?" Braedey asked quietly.
"The bridge, it's starting to break apart." Mr. Garcia began to explain. "I even saw this in my dream. The universe is starting to crumble away."
"And I know about the Magic Railway." Diesel 10 spoke out, him completely unaware of the viaduct breaking apart below. "And when I find it, you and all those puffballs will be history." But, what he didn't notice was Braedey now looking at his claw's hydraulic lines. "Now, tell me where the buffers are. Now!" Diesel 10 demanded.
"How about..." Braedey now pulls out what looked like a multi-tool from his pocket. "We don't?" He spoke back.
"Nice one, kid." Mr. Garcia smiled.
"You got 10 seconds!" Diesel 10 demanded, and he now jostled his claw, making Braedey suddenly lose grip on the multi-tool, and it landed a few feet away from him.
"I can't reach it!" Braedey called.
"10! 9! 8!" Diesel 10 counted down. "7! 6!"
"Nor can I!" Mr. Garcia added.
Braedey manages to wriggle out one of his arms, then he forms a rockstar symbol and aims at the multi-tool before shooting a strand of web. He smiled as he pulls back, Mr. Garcia managing to catch the tool, surprised by Braedey's trick, but now isn't the time to ask. They have to get out of here and fast.
Diesel 10 kept counting down. "5! 4! 3! 2-!"
Mr. Garcia now reaches over to the set of hydraulic lines and he goes and cuts through the hydraulic hose, high-pressure fluid now leaking out in the process.
"Hasta la vista, Diesel!" Braedey called out.
With that, Pinchy abruptly launched upwards into the air, throwing Braedey and Mr. Garcia out and sending them flying away. Diesel 10 growled in anger, as his enemy had managed to escape.
Braedey and Mr. Garcia both flew through the air for a few moments, sailing over the countryside and away from the viaduct and the deep valley, then they seem to be heading towards further into the countryside. Thinking fast, Braedey now shoots his webbing over at some trees as fast as he can, now constructing a web to catch both him and Mr. Garcia before they hit the ground. The two of them stick around for a little while before they began to roll off it and land on the ground with a soft thud.
"Wow... what a ride." Braedey muttered out with a soft laugh.
Mr. Garcia turned to Braedey as he sits up, now seeing the huge spider web made within the trees. It was like a piece of modern art. "Did you just... somehow shoot webs like a spider?" He asked in surprise.
"Yeah. It's something I was born with." Braedey nodded back. "My family and I, we aren't sure how but I hope that one day, I find out the truth."
"Well, that was very clever of you to use that. Saved us and got us out of that situation." Mr. Garcia praised. "That's being resourceful and reliable."
Braedey smiled back, then he turned and saw they were by a windmill, its large rotating arms slowly turning as a faint chugging can be heard. "Hey, look at that! We're at the windmill." He smiled.
"Now, that's what I call a perfect landing." Mr. Garcia smiled as he puts his hat on his head, finally happy that they've reached the location that they've been searching for.
"So, where is this clue?" Braedey now asked as he follows.
"It should be... here. On this wall." Mr. Garcia goes over to one part of the wall. "This must be the clue to the source of the Gold-Dust and magic."
Bradey and Mr. Garcia both now saw ghostly writing appearing on the wall from the brickwork and concrete. It was like it was hiding in plain sight. It reads...
"'Stoke up the magic in the mountain, and the lady will smile'..." Braedey read the first part.
"'Then watch the swirls that spin so well'..." Mr. Garcia reads the last part, and with that, the writing vanished away into the brickwork.
"Well, where did the writing gone to?" Braedey wondered out loud.
"Not sure." Mr. Garcia shrugged.
"This has only just raised more questions than answers to this mystery." Braedey muttered as he goes to sit down and rest after that fiasco. "I can only imagine the others having better luck than we are."
Right now, Splatter, Dodge, and Diesel 10 were at the coaling plant. The two shunter diesels were wondering how Diesel 10 somehow managed to let Mr. Garcia and Braedey escape from his mechanical grasp.
"Uh, so boss..." Splatter started.
"How come you let Twinkle Toes and the brat escape?" Dodge added.
"Yeah?" Splatter questioned also.
Diesel 10 didn't want to say that the two got away by breaking one of the hydraulic lines inside of his claw, so he decided to play a lie. "Oh, that. Uh... Well, I-I did it on... purpose. Yes, on purpose, y'know. I was just... testing- Yes, testing to see if they COULD escape." He told the two diesels. "Yes. That's what I did. I was testing."
Both shunter diesels, however, didn't believe him. "Liar, liar. Trucks on fire." Splatter and Dodge sang.
"Does he even pull trucks?" Splatter joked.
"No. The trucks pull him instead of him pulling them." Dodge spoke up.
"Oh, yeah." Splatter joked about with a laugh.
Diesel 10 was now beyond annoyed by his two lackeys mocking him. "ALRIGHT! Playtime's over, Splodge!" He spoke out with gritted teeth.
"Uh-oh." Both shunter diesels muttered. They knew this won't end well.
"Now it's time for the next lesson, HUH?! I call it "How to Stop Being Stupid"!!" Diesel 10 growled out, then he looked up to the coal chute, and he now uses Pinchy to hit it out of frustration.
"NOT THE COAL CHUTE-!!" Splatter and Dodge call out, but they were too late, as Diesel 10 was being buried under an entire mountain of black coal, as it all poured down on top of him.
Gordon, James, Henry, and both Rose and Scooby, who were in the shunting yard nearby the coaling plant, all laughed aloud at the evil diesel's failure and saw the entire calamity nearby while they were getting their trains ready.
After the coal eventually stopped pouring down, Diesel 10 was now covered from rooftop to axle box in coal dust, his claw stuck back on his roof, and he was buried up to his nose in coal dust. Splatter and Dodge also got some coal dust on them, and they looked down at their boss from the adjacent.
"Now that's gonna ruin my facial." Diesel 10 growled out in a mumble from under the coal, and both shunter diesels groan in annoyance, just as one lump of coal hits Diesel 10 on the roof of his cab. "Ouch..."
