Meanwhile, back over at Muffle Mountain, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, and Willow were taking the time to walk about. It was one of the days for them to try and relax and have calm level-heads so they can think about where Braedey, Rose, and Scooby-Doo have gone off to. Scorcher, Maria and Sheeva were also along with them, the two trying to help the gang out.
"So you all don't know where they've gone?" Sheeva asked softly.
"Sadly, no." Daphne sighed softly. "They just vanished somewhere around this mountain without a trace. We have no idea where they could've gone to."
"That is concerning." Scorcher stood nearby, him now leaning against a tree. "Somehow, a blonde princess, a little kid, and a talking dog have gone missing, and there are no clues to tell us where they've gone."
"And that's the worst thing about this. We don't have any clues." Shaggy stated out. "I just hope they're okay, especially Scooby."
"Morning, Scorcher." Burnett greeted calmly.
"Good morning, Burnett." Scorcher smiled warmly to him. He then began introductions. "Oh, Burnett. I'd like you to meet Mystery, Inc, some friends we've made over the years. Gang, I'd like you to meet Burnett Blake Stone, an old friend of mine from years ago." He began to say.
"Wait. Did you say your middle name is 'Blake'?" Daphne asked in surprise.
"Indeed, Daphne." Burnett nodded softly, the redhead taken aback by this. "It has been some time. You may not remember me, but I remember you."
Daphne then stopped as she began to recall. "Wait... Grandpa Burnett?" She realised, Burnett nodding back with a soft smile.
"Like, I did not expect that." Shaggy commented with a look of surprise.
"Yeah." Sheeva nodded.
"I used to be simply Burnett Blake, but kept the family name as my middle name. I took up the last name 'Stone' after marrying Tasha." Burnett explained.
"Wait... that's it." Velma's eyes widened as she thought back. "The painting!"
"What painting?" Fred questioned.
"The one from back in Shining Time." Daphne recalled. "The one signed by Burnett B. Stone, that was you." She looked at Burnett.
"That's right." Burnett nodded back. "I'm surprised that picture has survived for so long."
"The Lost & Found can hide and preserve a lot of things." Velma shrugged back.
"I see." Burnett nodded back.
Daphne walked up and gently hugged her grandfather. "Sorry I haven't been able to visit you, grandpa." She apologised.
"Don't be, Daphne. You've been out and about with our friends around the world, solving all those mysteries." Burnett said calmly and casually to his granddaughter. "I'm just glad you got the chance to see me."
"Yeah." Daphne smiled before she walked back over to the gang.
"Burnett. I'm gonna go riding down into Shining Time. I was going to ask if the gang would like to come with, along with the family." Scorcher now said.
"That would be nice." Sheeva smiled.
"Like, yeah." Shaggy nodded.
"I'm in." Maria smiled.
"Same." Velma acknowledged.
"Of course. You can go. But be back by sunset." Burnett advised to them all. "Travelling around the mountain at night can be dangerous."
"Of course." Daphne nodded. She then had an idea. "Do you wish to come with, too?" She offered.
"No. Sorry. I never go down into the valley now." Burnett shook his head softly before turning away to walk off back to his home.
"Okay, Grandpa." Daphne replied softly.
"So, have you guys ever ridden a horse before?" Scorcher asked to the others.
"I have." Daphne replied.
"Not really. Why?" Willow questioned.
A few moments later, the gang were all now riding on horses across the countryside of Muffle Mountain, Scorcher taking the lead on a black stallion with Sheeva and Maria hanging on. Daphne and Velma were both riding on a white horse, Fred and Shaggy both riding on separate horses, while Willow also rides along on a light brown horse.
"Ride like the wind, Bullseye!" Willow laughed, the horse rearing back on its rear legs, and she races off ahead.
"You enjoying yourself?" Scorcher laughed. "I've always wanted to go this way. We're following some shadowy lines I've seen on a map. They're like railroad tracks without any rails." He now said to the others.
"I see. That's interesting." Velma commented. "Can't wait to hear so much more."
Meanwhile, up inside of his workshop, Burnett was looking on in the darkness, his flashlight shining down upon the little tank engine parked up in the corner. He breathed a heavy sigh as he looks on.
"Well, Lady. What are we to do?" Burnett said softly, shining the headlight from the whistle, along the boiler and dome, up to the funnel and down to the running board and wheels of the tank engine. "It all seems so much easier when Tasha and I were children."
Back down at Shining Time, the Mystery, Inc. gang, Maria and Sheeva were sitting in the waiting room of the train station building, Maria looking through one of the multi-coloured windows, her wondering if she and the others can see Casey Jones Baldwin again after their first introduction yesterday.
"Like, why are we waiting?" Shaggy asked.
Just then, everyone now could hear someone in the distance letting out a soft tune. They all look over and they could see Casey Jones Baldwin appearing in a flash of golden dust, riding on a red skateboard, over by the railway mural on the walls, him being dressed up in a blue railway conductor's uniform.
"Casey Jones?" Maria spoke up.
"Like, hey! It's CJ!" Shaggy smiled.
"Oh! Hey, fellas! Didn't think I'd see you fellas again." Casey greeted to the group.
"Yeah. Guess we got lucky." Velma smiled.
"Okay, fella. Pop Quiz: what's blue, green and red and goes beep-beep?" Casey asked to them.
"A parrot, and you mean chirp-chirp." Sheeva said back with a roll of her eyes.
"No, trains. Talking trains." Casey now kicks up his skateboard and puts it over his shoulder. "And I'm off to see them on the Island of Sodor, and my cousin."
"Wait. The Island of Sodor..." Fred began to say. "You mean that fictional railway island from those iconic 'Railway Series' books?" He questioned to Casey at this.
"Like, the same thing as those model trains Braedey plays with?" Shaggy now asked in amazement. "Are you telling us that island is real?"
"The home of Thomas the Tank Engine?" Maria asked.
"That's right. Got the question right." Casey smiled.
"But how? How is it real?" Velma injured.
"Think of it like it's hidden in a magical veil from the world." Casey answered casually. "There's only a few ways to get there. I'm actually on my way there now."
"Sodor... That has GOT to be the place where Braedey, Rose, and Scooby could've gone to when they disappeared!" Daphne finally announced, everyone else looking to her in surprise. "It's the only explanation for why they disappeared! They somehow ended up on Sodor when they tumbled down the mountain!"
"Yeah, your little friend. He might be there. Do you want to come?" Casey now offered.
"Really? You want us to come with you?" Willow asked in surprise.
"Of course. The more, the merrier." Casey nodded.
"Do you think we can get back here by sunset?" Sheeva now asked. She liked the sound of going, but she hoped that they didn't go for too long.
"I guess so. Then, I can head back to the beach." Casey replied.
"Okay. I'm in." Shaggy called.
"Same here." Fred acknowledged.
"Good. It's... this way." Casey Jones now walked over to a nearby tunnel painting on the wall, and he tapped the signal, making a loud metallic clang. "We'll take the shortcut."
"Really?" Maria wasn't sure what to say about this.
"There's about 8 of us. Oh, well. That means I'll have to use some of Cousin's extra supply of Gold Dust." Casey looks at the classic train whistle around his neck, then to his own sports whistle. "It doesn't matter. We'll have plenty more soon."
Daphne then scooped up a small amount of Gold Dust in her hand that was on the ground where Casey was. "Do you think I can take this little bit of dust back for Grandpa?" She asked.
"Be my guest. I'll take care of that for you." Casey nodded, then he goes and took the Gold Dust. "Best you all link arms, just so nobody gets left behind." He advised. The gang, Maria and Sheeva all now link hands and arms as they huddled together. "Alright. Ready? Here goes." Casey annocuned.
With the toot of the whistle, which sounds like a deep steam train whistle, Casey, the gang, Maria and Sheeva all now glow in a brilliant golden light, almost becoming like that of golden dust, then they were transported up to the tunnel next to the signal painting, and they vanished in the golden light!!
"We're coming, Scoob!" Shaggy's voice called out.
With a lone train whistle, and the ringing of a level crossing bell, Casey, the gang, Maria and Sheeva all now appear within some kind of closed-off area as they floated over some lone railway tracks. Around them looked to be some kind of a forest made out of thorns and a vineyard. Behind the thorns looks to be a bright colour of yellow, no doubt because of the sun, but the thorns and vines surroundings shielded the light outside.
"Whoa..." Maria looked about in awe.
"Definitely did not expect this." Velma looks about tas they float along at speed.
"Like, it's like riding a magic carpet." Shaggy laughed.
"You could say that, yeah." Casey chuckled.
"Hey. Where are we?" Willow now asked.
"The Magic Railroad." Casey replied, as they travelled down the line, floating above the line like they were on a magic carpet.
"A magic railroad... how unexpected." Sheeva mused.
"We're travelling miles and miles towards the island as we speak." Casey now sighed to himself, looking at the thorns all around the railway. "But I don't know if this railroad's gonna last much longer." The gang all now looked at him in confusion. "It'll vanish away just like the engine."
"Engine?" Daphne questioned.
"What engine?" Gwen asked.
"An engine that used to travel on this very railroad. My cousin and I, we've never seen it before, don't know what happened to it, and I don't think we ever will." Casey explained.
As they travel along, Fred now saw a lone coal truck in a loop siding nearby the line. "Hey. What's that thing doing here?" He questioned in confusion.
"Odd..." Daphne mused.
Then, Casey and the gang all hold hands as they saw something ahead of them. "Hold on, everyone. Here's the buffers." That was right; just up ahead of them was a set of buffers. They were coming up to the end of the line. "YEE-HAW!"
Then, a lone train whistle, and the ringing of a level crossing bell, Casey, the gang, Maria and Sheeva all now exit the Magic Railroad, arriving on the island. As they do, they flew up in the air, and they landed on a patch of soft grass next to the trackside.
"Whoa. Like, what a ride." Shaggy chuckled.
"Jinkies..." Velma shook her head, adjusting her glasses. "Amazing..."
Fred helped Daphne up to her feet. "So, you think this is where Braedey, Rose, and Scooby could've ended up?" He asked.
"No doubt in my mind." Daphne nodded back.
Maria sat up, and she looked around at the green trees and soft grass all about them. "Where are we?" She asked, Sheeva helping her daughter up.
Casey looks down at his compass, and he smiled. "The Island of Sodor, of course." He replied.
"So, where do we go first?" Shaggy asked.
"Okay, we go this way..." Casey gestured over to the nearby hill. "Follow me."
Casey, the gang, Maria and Sheeva all now began to make their way up climbing one of the nearby hills, exiting the forest as they do so, making their way up to the top. Once they got to the top to catch their breath, they now could hear the sounds of steam engine whistles in the distance, as if communicating with one another.
"What's all that noise?" Velma questioned.
"It's the trains. They talk, just like you and me. We just can't hear them from here." Casey replied. He then smiled. "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Island of Sodor."
The gang, Maria and Sheeva look out to the landscape before them, all of them now seeing tank engines and tender locomotives chugging about as they travel to and fro along their tracks.
Fred: "Whoa..."
Daphne: "Jeepers..."
Velma: "Jinkies..."
Shaggy: "Zoinks..."
Willow: "Outstanding..."
Meanwhile, Thomas the Tank Engine, along with Annie and Clarabel, with Rose and Scooby-Doo riding along in his cab, were currently travelling down the Mainline. Also, he was wondering where Braedey and Mr. Garcia were and if they were alright. As he looked ahead, Thomas could see what look like shapes and figures of people further ahead by the trackside emerging from the forest.
"Annie! Clarabel! It's Mr. Garcia and Braedey! We found them!" Thomas called out with a smile, now crossing over to the hard right tracks via junction points. But as he got closer, he saw he was wrong. "Oh, bunko. It's Casey Jones." He groaned in annoyance.
Rose now leans out of Thomas' cab to look. "Hang on. That's the gang." She smiled happily. "They're here!"
Over by the trackside, Maria looks over to the railway tracks as she heard an engine approaching, and she smiled as she tugged on Casey and her mother's arms. "Hey! Casey, Mom! Look!" She pointed out, gesturing to the steam engine pulling up to them.
"Like, no way..." Shaggy looks on.
"It's really him." Willow gasped in surprise
"It's Thomas!" Fred realised, then he took his ascot off and waved it like a flag to flag him down, Thomas eventually coming to a stop before them.
"Nice work, Freddie." Daphne commented, Fred putting his ascot back on.
"Hmm. Thomas. Now, don't look so surprised." Casey began to say. "I know we haven't seen each other since-"
"You stuffed party poppers down my funnel!" Thomas fumed at Casey, looking angry at him. "And even put fog detonators on my wheels!"
"Hey-Hey! We had a laugh." Casey interjected.
"You did." Thomas huffed. "And James wouldn't let me hear the end of it, kept calling me 'Crackle-Wheels'."
"Hey, I didn't come up with the name!" Casey spoke back.
"But you started it." Thomas huffed.
Maria looked to Casey with surprise all on her face. "You're talking to each other like he's human." She said in amazement.
"Hey, first prize." Casey shrugged started to introduce everyone to the little blue tank engine. "Maria, Sheeva, Mystery, Inc, this is Thomas. Thomas, this is Mystery, Inc., Maria, and Sheeva." Thomas smiled softly to them.
"It's nice to meet you, Thomas." Willow greeted. "I'm Willow."
"Hello, Willow. Welcome to Sodor." Thomas smiled and greeted.
Rose now emerged from Thomas' cab. "Hey, guys."
"Rose!" Daphne smiled happily, Rose climbing down and she was greeted by Daphne's embrace. "You're okay."
"Of course. The engines here have been such a big help and are great friends." Rose replied with a giggle.
Scooby now emerged from Thomas' cab, seeing the rest of the gang, then he saw Shaggy. "RHAGGY!" He yelled happily as he ran towards him.
"SCOOBY-DOO!" Shaggy smiled happily, Scooby tackling him down as the two share their embrace. "Oh, man! I've missed you!"
"Reah, me too!" Scooby added in, smiling and licking Shaggy as the two laugh and tumble around in the grass.
Daphne now noticed Braedey wasn't here. "Braedey isn't with you?" She asked to Rose.
"No, he'd be with Mr. Garcia right now, but we haven't seen them at all since yesterday morning." Rose answered.
"He shouldn't be too far away." Velma stated. "Maybe we can travel by rail?"
"Like, you mean ride onboard a talking train?" Shaggy asked.
"Exactly." Fred answered back.
Casey now climbed up into Thomas' cab. "Well, what are you all waiting for? Let's get going and find your little buddy." He said to them.
"Of course." Fred nodded.
So, Rose, Fred, Daphne, and Casey climb up into Thomas' cab, while Velma, Scooby, Shaggy, Willow, Maria, and Sheeva all climb aboard either Annie and Clarabel.
"We're good to go." Fred called, patting the side of Thomas' cab.
"Annie. Clarabel." Thomas spoke to his two coaches. "Looks like we're taking a little detour to find Braedey and Mr. Garcia." With that, Thomas puffs away from the forest with both coaches behind him as they travel along at speed.
"Very well." Annie and Clarabel both replied in unison. "A little detour could not hurt."
As Thomas steamed down the line, Daphne looked on as the scenery goes by. This was her second time travelling by train, but she enjoyed it, especially when this was around the railway that Braedey enjoyed and was a fan about it. Rose cannot help but smile back. Onboard both Annie and Clarabel, Shaggy and Scooby were both reminiscing, the latter explaining to his friend about what he's been up to for the last few days, while Velma is with Willoa, Maria, and Sheeva about how the steam engines on this railway could even be alive.
As they were chugging along, Daphne leans out of Thomas' cab to see they were approaching a windmill, and she could see something shining nearby it. "Freddie, what's that thing shining at the windmill?" She inquired.
"I don't know." Fred looks out to see but can't see it.
Casey looked out of the cab to see, and he smiled as Thomas whistled. "Presto, fellas. I think it's my cousin!" He said with a smile.
"Mr. Garcia! Braedey!" Thomas called out, as he got closer to the windmill, and he saw the two friends.
"Thomas!" Braedey waved to the blue tank engine.
"There you are, Thomas." Mr. Garcia called.
"Thank throttles you're safe." Thomas said as he now came to a stop with the hiss of his brakes in a cloud of steam.
Braedey now saw the gang emerging from the coaches and Thomas' cab, him surprised to see them. "Guys! You're here." He smiled, just as Daphne and Willow hug him.
"You cannot believe how worried we were." Willow said softly as she gently held him close.
"Same here." Daphne added in. "I'm just glad you're safe."
"Thank you." Braedey nodded back softly.
"So how have things been while being on this island?" Velma asked.
"Well, there's a lot I can tell you about." Braedey smiled and laughed.
"Morning, cousin. What's up?" Casey called, walking up to Mr. Garcia, who gave a blunt look. "You and the little guy enjoying the sun?" He asked.
"No, Casey Jones. We haven't." Mr. Garcia now sounds angry. "In fact, Braedey and I had just crash-landed here not just a few minutes ago after we just escaped the metal claw of a giant heavy metal monster!!" He yelled out.
"Wh-What? Monster?!" Shaggy asked in worry.
"Reah. Riesel 10." Scooby nodded in acknowledgement.
"Diesel 10?" Daphne echoed.
"Yeah. He's a big diesel with a large metal claw on his roof, who hates steam engines." Rose explained. "He's been after someone known as the Lost Engine, and on top of that, all the magic in the world and Gold Dust is vanishing. And if we don't find a way to fix it, this island and engines, and everything about it, it will all vanish."
"Casey. We're running out of time. Where have you been?" Mr. Garcia now questioned after he calmed down.
"Uh, is your magic and sparkle back, Mr. Garcia?" Thomas now asked, trying to settle the mood around everyone.
Braedey breathed in. "No, Thomas. It isn't." He replied, but then perked up. "But, we know the clue."
"What clue?" Velma questioned.
Casey leans in to listen, the others curious at this. "'Stoke up the magic in the mountain... and'..." He then stopped and fumed in frustration. "I forgot." He sighed, and Casey hits the flour bags in front of him.
"Oh, dear." Thomas looked concerned.
"Braedey, it's not your fault. Everyone forgets now and then." Daphne reassured to her.
"Listen; if we can figure out the clue, we get all the magic back at once, and everyone is happy." Sheeva reassured to Braedey.
"Hey, Cous, you're looking terrible." Casey commented. "Why don't we get more gold dust? I used yours up. Then you can go back home and I can go to the beach." He sounded like he wanted to finish this quick and easily.
"Casey, I need you to listen to me very very carefully." Mr. Garcia said to Casey, but before he spoke again, a jingling musical sound got their attention.
"Uh-oh." Thomas said.
"What's that?" Fred questioned.
"The bellflowers." Mr. Garcia told Casey, but before he can get them, Braedey gets to them, and he answers them.
"That's weird..." Velma commented.
"Kinda." Daphne shrugged.
"Definitely." Willow shrugged back.
"Hello?" Braedey answered the call. Then, he heard someone on the other end. "No. This is Braedey Martin. Who's this?" He asked, and the person gave her their name, Braedey's eyes widened as he's taken aback by this. "Oh! Sir Topham Hatt. Well, it's an honour to hear your voice, sir. I have heard so much about your iconic railway, and am honoured to see your engines at work."
"Who's Sir Topham Hatt?" Fred asked.
"Fred, he's the person in charge of Sodor." Rose reminded. "He's also know as The Fat Controller."
"Really? Like, why?" Shaggy questioned.
"It's a name of endearment or of something else." Rose clarified.
Braedey then heard Sir Topham Hatt say something, and he nodded. "Okay, sir. I'll put Mr. Garcia on for you." Braedey then handed the bellflowers over to Mr. Garcia. "It's for you." He whispered to him.
Mr. Garcia cleared his throat. "Yes, Sir Topham Hatt." He greeted, and Sir Topham spoke to him. "No. No, he just wanted to be friendly. You could say he's a big fan." Sir Topham Hatt talked to him, as Casey now looks up to the windmill. "Don't worry, sir. Everything's under control. Bye, sir." With that, he puts the bellflowers back.
"Oh. Uh, Cousin?" Casey now gets Mr. Garcia's attention. "This is Mystery, Inc. and Maria and Sheeva. They're currently staying up in Shining Time."
Mr. Garcia walked up to the gang and greeted them. "A pleasure to meet you." He said to them as they shook hands.
"Of course." Fred acknowledged back.
"It's a pleasure." Velma added.
"Same." Daphne agreed back softly.
"Casey?" Mr. Garcia looks back, but he sees Casey is gone. "Case, where-" He hears cheering from above, and sees Casey riding on one of the windmill blades.
"He's up there?!" Willow called.
"Casey! What are you doing?! Get down from there! It's too windy to be up there!" Mr. Garcia called out.
"It's just like the funfair! Give it another two seconds!" Casey cheered out, and he held onto the wooden windmill blade.
"Two seconds is all it takes for you to land in trouble!" Mr. Garcia yelled back to him.
"Like, he's going to get into trouble, isn't he?" Shaggy asked.
"Reah/Yep." Braedey answer in unison.
"Uh, is it just me or is that windmill going faster?" Daphne now asked.
Everyone now watches on as the windmill now suddenly began to spin faster and faster in the wind, gaining momentum and speed. Then, after two full rotations at high speed, Casey could not hold on and he eventually gets thrown off the windmill, sent sailing and flying across the sky!
"CASEY!!!" Mr. Garcia yelled out, and hoped he got a soft landing.
However, instead of landing on something soft or somewhere safe, Casey unfortunately had landed on the roof of Diesel 10, the BR Class 42 diesel racing along at speed down on the mainline!!
"AHA! If it isn't Twinkle Toes CJ!" Diesel 10 spike out in delight as he looks back while he rumbles along.
Casey looks back as he sits up, just as his skateboard and bag fell off his back and onto the tracks, the board breaking apart. "Oh, man! My skateboard!" He yelled out.
"You ain't doing any surfing up here, Mr. Kahuna!" Diesel 10 spoke out to Casey.
Casey gritted his teeth as he got to his feet and stood up, facing against the wind buffeting against him. "Oh, really? Then watch me, you oversized buzz-box." He taunted. "I'll show you how we do things my way back home..."
"Hold on tight, moon doggie!" Diesel 10 laughed aloud as he continued to race down the line.
"YEE-HAW!!!" Casey's call echoed out as Diesel 10 raced down the line, heading off further away from the windmill.
"Diesel's hijacked him!" Thomas said in worry.
"Like, things just went from bad to worse." Shaggy commented.
"So THAT..." Daphne began to say.
"Yep. That was Diesel 10." Rose nodded back.
"What's gonna happen to Casey now?" Sheeva now asked.
"My family's pretty good at getting themselves out of trouble. Eventually." Mr. Garcia replied.
"I don't know what 'eventually' means, but it sounds very very long." Thomas commented as he thought for a moment.
