"What if..f.." Thomas wasn't sure of what to say next.
"Yes, Thomas?" Rose inquired.
"What if it's dark?" Thomas now asked.
"It might be for a while, but you'll have your headlamp to light your way." Velma reassured to him.
"And cold?" Thomas questioned next.
"Maybe. But, like, you will have your firebox to keep you warm when you're there." Shaggy insisted back.
"And how will I get back again?" Thomas now asked.
"Because you're a Really Useful Engine, and no matter what, you will always find a way." Braedey now told Thomas, showing him that he can do it.
Thomas looked at both Braedey and Daphne, as they stood nearby. "Please, Thomas." Daphne now pleaded to the blue tank engine.
"Then, I'll try!" Thomas said proudly with a smile.
"ALL ABOARD!!!" Braedey announced.
It was now or never...
Thomas whistled in the night, as he steamed past the watermill, the moonlight illuminating the landscape around him as he charges onwards. Daphne, Sheeva, Braedey, and Rose were currently onboard, riding in Thomas' cab, the little blue tank engine charging on ahead, determined to get to the Magic Railroad, find and save the Lost Engine.
"I promise to get you home to your grandfather, Daphne." Thomas said to the redhead with determination in his voice.
"We have to hurry." Rose said in concern. "We might have much time left."
"Keep the steam up, Thomas!" Braedey spoke up, him shovelling coal into Thomas' firebox without slowing down.
Just then, Percy was chuffing up alongside on an adjacent track, with Fred, Shaggy, Velma and Maria at the controls. "Just keep going!" Fred called.
"Freddie?!" Daphne called out.
"Just follow on down the tracks and you'll reach the buffers!" Velma yelled out as she waved her hand out to them. "It's just up ahead!"
"We're going through, guys." Thomas said to the occupants in his cab.
Braedey and Rose both look out of the cab, and they both could now see the buffers ahead. "Buffers dead ahead." Braedey said.
"Go for it, you little blue buckaroo!" Maria cheered Thomas on, as the blue tank engine now asked to go faster and faster, and neared the buffers.
"Zoinks! There they go!" Shaggy yelled, Percy now screeching to a halt. "Whoa-oh!"
"Go, guys!" Fred waved.
"Go, Thomas! Go!" Percy called.
"Little Engines CAN do big things!" Thomas said with determination.
Then with a whistle, a flash of rainbow light, and the ringing of a bell, Thomas, Daphne, Sheeva, Braedey, and Rose all vanished into the Magic Railroad!!
"There they go! Let's get going!" Fred called. Percy whistles in response, hand he began to chuff away with his occupants onboard, heading away to the grotto and for Percy to warn the others about what's going on.
Thomas looked around as he chuffs along. Around him looked to be some kind of a forest made out of thorns and a vineyard. Behind the thorns looks to be a the deep dark blue light of the night, but the thorns and vines surroundings shielded the light outside, giving the whole area a haunted look of sorts.
"Ooh! It is dark, and cold, and bumpy! But, I'm not afraid." Thomas said determinedly as he continued to puff his way down the Magic Railroad.
"Keep going, Thomas." Rose coached to him. "We can do this."
"We keep going, and we'll make it." Braedey reassured to Thomas.
"Hey! There's my missing coal truck!" Thomas now called out, seeing the sixth coal truck he didn't collect a few days earlier sitting on a loop line as he passes by.
"Coal truck?" Sheeva questioned.
"That's the same one the gang and I saw with Casey when we travelled to Sodor." Daphne said.
"Wait a second... 'Stoke up the magic in the mountain'..." Rose now recited, then she realised something. "That's it! That's part of Mr. Garcia's clue to his Gold-Dust and the magic." She said to Thomas.
"Wait. You're right." Braedey realised.
"And Rose, what do you do with coal?" Thomas said to the blonde as he continued to chug along.
"You stoke it up with Fire and Water to make steam." Sheeva answered back in realisation. "The ingredients needed to make a steam engine work..."
"We're going to be really reliable, and help the Lost Engine and Mr. Garcia." Thomas now declared firmly.
"But how?" Daphne asked.
"We're going back for that coal truck!" Braedey replied back, as Thomas immediately slams on the brakes, his brakes screeching as he now came to a stop. "Thomas, full reverse!" Braedey called, and the blue tank engine immediately began to reverse back down the tracks towards the coal truck.
"Full reverse!" Rose called out.
"Buffers, coal truck... we're starting to solve the mysteries, fellas." Thomas said to his occupants in his cab, then he began to slow down, Braedey now leaning out of his cab to look back, as Thomas now coupled up to the coal truck.
"We're coupled up! Let's go!" Braedey called, and at once, Thomas began to pull away at full steam ahead, pulling the coal truck behind him down the tracks.
"You're a Really Useful Engine, Thomas." Daphne praised to the blue tank engine, patting his side.
Thomas smiled, as he continued down the Magic Railroad. As they chug along, the occupants onboard took notice the light of day starting to appear through the thorns. Seems like night is turning into day as they continue along.
"You guys see that?" Rose wondered as she looks on.
But then, Thomas started to accelerate faster and faster. "Whoa!" He cried out. Braedey and the girls now look out the cab, and they could see the buffers to the other end of the line ahead. "Whoa! Whoa!" Thomas went faster than he had ever gone before.
"BRACE YOURSELVES!!" Braedey yelled out, as the bright rainbow lights now engulf him, along with Thomas and the girls.
When Thomas finally exited the Magic Railroad, he saw he was up on the cliff on the top of a mountain! His wheels now churned into the dirt, and he eventually slowed to a gradual stop, just before the cliff edge in front of him.
"Daphne! Where are we?!" Thomas asked, shocked and amazed by where he was now.
"Muffle Mountain, Thomas." Sheeva replied. "We made it."
"Come on, let's go!" Braedey said, him helping Rose and Daphne down from Thomas' cab, Sheeva leaping out onto the ground. "We have to hurry!" He said, he and the girls heading off.
Thomas could only look on ahead. All he could see was forests for miles around, as well as the valley below. "I think I feel a... a little dizzy." Thomas called, getting the group's attention. "I can't go any further! My wheels won't let me!"
"I'll come back, Thomas! I promise!" Sheeva called.
"We're really sorry, Thomas, but we need to find my grandpa!" Daphne cried.
"We have to hurry! Diesel 10 could be searching for the railroad any minute." Braedey told the girls, and they ran off down the hillside.
"Of the days I wear heels..." Daphne muttered as she struggled to run.
"It's getting windy up here!" Thomas cried out to them.
As Braedey and the ladies continue to run down the hillside as fast as they could so they could find where Burnett was, a strong gust of wind blew through the trees around the mountain. Right below Thomas's front set of wheels, the rock of the cliff side now gave way, and suddenly, Thomas began to fall down Muffle Mountain!
"BUST MY BOILER!!!" Thomas cried. "I left the coal truck behind!!" He began to whistle for help as he kept going down the mountain, and he couldn't stop. He had no rails to guide with or to even slow him down with.
With Daphne, Sheeva, Braedey, and Rose, they soon reach what was a horse track. As they do so, they now saw Scorcher riding into view, along with two horses alongside him.
"Braedey! Rose! Where have you been?" Scorcher said to them in surprise. "Sheeva! What's going on?"
"Scorcher, we don't have time to explain. We need to find Burnett Stone and fast." Sheeva said to her husband.
"It's an emergency!" Rose added.
"Can you show us the way?" Daphne asked.
"Mount up." Scorcher told them immediately.
"Thank you, Scorcher." Braedey breathed out in relief.
"Stop, wind! STOP!" Thomas cried desperately, as he kept going down the mountain. His brakes were all but useless on the grass as he can't slow down.
Scorcher now leads ahead with Sheeva on his horse, daphne riding alongside on her own horse, Rose and Braedey on another, which happens to be the same horse Willow rode on yesterday, Scorcher leading the way towards Burnett's workshop on Muffle Mountain.
"Hey, howdy, hey! Giddy-yap!" Braedey yelled, the horse now sprinting as fast as it can, with the others right alongside them.
"Come on, Bullseye! Yah!" Rose added in.
As Braedey, Scorcher, and the girls were crossing the mountain, Thomas was in one of the large green fields down at the bottom of the mountain, but still, he could not stop or slow down. Suddenly, he felt himself fall down into a portal in the ground. "WHOA!!"
In a large cloud of steam, a loud whistle, a ringing bell, and in a flash of rainbow light, Thomas was gone from sight, leaving behind nothing but a large cloud of steam!!
Inside of his workshop, Burnett looked down at the blueprint drawings and schematics of Lady's engine basis and design. He had tried everything he can to her, but he couldn't make the little engine get back into steam again. He sighed in frustration. It was like he was missing something
"Grandpa!" Burnett looks up, and he now saw Daphne run in with Braedey, Rose, Sheeva, and Scorcher alongisde her, all of them taking deep breaths as they run into the workshop.
"Daphne. I'm glad you're alright." Burnett said in relief.
"Mr. Stone, we need to tell you something important." Braedey began to say.
"Grandpa, there's this island with talking trains, and they said you might have been there." Daphne began to say to her grandfather, then she sighed sadly. "But Mr. Garcia's very sick, and Casey Jones is in danger... and we had to leave poor Thomas behind."
"Can you please help us?" Rose asked softly.
Burnett stood there in silent amazement. He had been on Sodor before, but that was a long time ago, and the last time he was on that island was when Lady derailed because of that evil diesel. After that, he never went back, not that he could anymore. Now, without Lady, all the magic will be gone from existence. "I'd love to, Daphne. I really do. But, nothing seems to work." He sighed sadly.
Braedey now looks to his right, he and Rose walking up to Lady with amazement in their eyes, seeing the little engine sitting there in the workshop. He pats her boiler gently, feeling the coldness inside. "This is the Lost Engine from so long ago." He said to Burnett as he looked to him. "The same one the other engines on Sodor talked about so much..."
"Now we can go back to the island, bring Mr. Garcia and Casey and find our way home, and even get the Gold-Dust and magic back!" Rose smiled in happiness.
"I can't make her steam." Burnett said sadly. "I've tried all the different coals in the valley. Nothing worked."
Braedey looked over at the golden name of the engine etched on the side tanks, and he turned to Burnett. "Lady. Is that her name?" He asked.
"Yes." Daphne's grandfather replied.
"Wait a second..." Daphne's eyes now widened. "Coal... that's it! Henry's Special Coal from the Island of Sodor!" Her words got Burnett's attention. "That's exactly what Lady needs."
Braedey smiled to Daphne. "Someone's been reading their books, I see." He praised.
Rose looked to Scorcher. "Scorcher, there's a lone coal truck stuck on the top of the mountain. Do you think you and Sheeva can get some?"
"Of course we will!" Scorcher saluted back. With that, he and Sheeva immediately ran out of the workshop, heading off to get the special coal truck.
Back on Sodor, Diesel 10 was travelling along the track at speed, heading on towards the Smelter's Scrapyard. All the while, Casey Jones Baldwin was still riding on his rooftop, the BR Class 42 'Warship' diesel heading off towards the Smelter's Yard at high speed.
"I'm sorry, Mystery, Inc.!" Casey ranted on, as if giving his last prayers, him still on Diesel I0's roof. "I'm sorry, cousin! I'm sorry for not being responsible, reliable, and really useful! BUT I WILL BE!!! I WILL BE!!!" He yelled out loudly.
Diesel 10 raced straight into the main Smelting Shed, and as he entered, a wall of white smoke blasted out of the shed entrance in response. But, ahead of Diesel 10 sitting right on the middle track... was James! James screams out in sheer horror, and Diesel 10 immediately slammed on the brakes and he hisses to a sudden halt, stopping on a dime. But due to the laws of inertia, Casey gets thrown off of his cab roof, sent flying through the air, and he lands on top of James' cab.
"Ouch. Sorry, James." Casey groaned out to the red engine. He immediately sat up, as he pulled out his whistle. He immediately began to blow the whistle, but there was no Gold-Dust: all there was is just the sound.
Diesel 10 now raises his claw above them, James looking up at it in worry. "So, you lost your sparkly too, huh?" Diesel 10 mocked at Casey. Casey looked at the whistle before he blows it again. Yet again, there was no magic. Diesel 10 now opens the claw as he laughed evilly at the red engine and the human. "Bye bye, Twinkle Toes!!!" He said menacingly.
Casey now looks on, then he goes and checks on his whistle. He now came to a grim conclusion as he looks on. "Oh, man. The tank's empty." He muttered out.
"Here we go!" Diesel 10 announced as he begins to roll forward, snapping his claw repeatedly.
"Casey! What are we gonna do now?" James asked as he began to slowly back up, Diesel 10 snapping his claw while rolling forward.
"I'll think of something, James. Just give me a few seconds." Casey replied. He then looks behind, and he could see the smelting pit behind James, and the only thing separating him from the pit were a set of buffers. 'We don't have a few seconds.' Casey thought to himself.
James's tender eventually backs up into the buffers, but with Diesel 10 slowly advancing towards him, he begins to push them to try and get away, James struggling to move back.
"That's it." Diesel 10 laughed sinisterly as he looks on.
Casey now had an idea. He quickly pulls out the spare emergency whistle with the last bit of Gold-Dust that he promised Daphne to give to her grandpa. "Daphne. I'm so sorry. I'll find you and Mystery, Inc. some more Gold-Dust. But if I'm gong to be any help at all to anyone on this island, it is now or never. I've got to use up the last of this stuff." He began to pray aloud.
Suddenly, James' tender eventually pushed the buffers clear off its mounts, and it fell into the pit below with a fiery hiss and roar, James' tender now derailed off the rails, and hanging off the edge, leaving him stuck and unable to move.
"Are you ready?" Diesel 10 mocked as he stopped before James, him ready to deliver the final blow.
"No, we're not!" James snapped back firmly.
"Hang on, James." Casey reassured to the red engine, then looks to the emergency whistle. "Come on, Gold-Dust. Get us outta here!!" Casey now blew the whistle, now sounding like a deep train whistle.
"Now, we are..." James said to Diesel 10, and in a flash of Gold-Dust, he and Casey Jones both disappeared from sight!
"What the...?" Diesel 10 looks on in stunned surprise, too shocked to speak. How did both the rusty red scrap iron and Twinkle Toes CJ even escape? He clenched his teeth and his claw before dropping it down onto his roof, then he began to slowly reverse out of the Smelting Shed.
"Boss! Boss!!" Diesel 10 looked back behind him to see both Splatter and Dodge fast approaching him. "We got news for you, boss! You ain't gonna believe it! We found those buffers you lookin' for! Yeah!" They now said to him.
"What... did you say?" Diesel 10 grunts through gritted teeth. Did he just hear what he thought he just heard?
At the grotto, Mr. Garcia, along with Fred, Velma, Shaggy, Scooby, Willow, and Maria, were all waiting for Thomas, Braedey, and the girls to return back to Sodor with the Lost Engine. For the time being, Shaggy opted to play a game of 'I Spy' to pass the time; though it was mostly him and Scooby playing it.
"Like, I spy with my little eye, something with the letter 'S'." Shaggy now said.
"Sky." Fred plays along.
"Shrub." Scooby suggested.
"Slump." Mr. Garcia opted to throw his two cents in.
"Like, nope." Shaggy answered back.
"Scooby?" Maria pointed to Scooby, the Great Dane laughing in amusement.
Suddenly, a golden glow began to appear on the opposite side of the tracks, immediately getting. As the glow faded from sight, now sitting there was James, with Casey Jones on the roof of his cab, both of them alive and still standing!
"Jinkies, a steam engine!" Velma called.
"COWABUNGA!!!" Casey cheered.
"Hoo-Ya!" James cheered out. "Haha!" The top of James' boiler, roof, and tender had a lot of soot, but he didn't care. He was happy to be alive.
"Like, that's James." Shaggy realised.
"Yeah. The number 5 engine." Fred added in. Casey now climbed off James' roof, and got up to the grotto. "Casey, you okay?"
"Been better." Casey shrugged back.
"You alright, James?" Maria now asked softly.
"Yeah. I'm better." James acknowledged back with a soft smile. "I'm just happy I got out of that smelter's shed."
"You should get going and tell the other engines about what's happening, and quickly." Willow suggested. James whistled in response before he began to puff away.
"Bye, James." Casey called and waved to the red tender engine as James puffed away. Casey then saw the others as they look over to him. "Hey, guys. Sorry I've been so long, cousin. But better late than never?" He chuckled softly.
"Casey, please don't tell you've used up and ran out of Gold Dust, have you?" Mr. Garcia asked, fearing the worst.
"Yeah. I've gone bankrupt, cousin. I used up the last of the Gold-Dust to get me and James out of the scrapyard before Diesel 10 got us." Casey sighed, waving the big whistle in his hand.
"At least you're okay." Fred spoke up. "And you saved another life. That means something."
"But, hey. It's a beautiful day. I mean, like, you're down, but not out." Shaggy now tried to persuade the others.
"No." Mr. Garcia shook her head. "We're out, but we are not down."
Velma now sat down on a rock. "All we can do now is wait for Daphne, Sheeva, Rose and Braedey to come back, along with the Lost Engine."
