Meanwhile, back inside of the workshop in Muffle Mountain, Daphne sat on Lady's buffers, and looked to her Grandpa Burnett, while Braedey and Rose both did their part to clean up the little tank engine to the best of their abilities. All the while, they listened in on the conversation happening between them, all while they waited for Sheeva and Scorcher to come back with the special coal.
"Did Grandma Tasha love Lady as much as you did? Did she get to ride with her?" Daphne asked to her grandfather.
"She loved her because I loved her." Burnett replied to his granddaughter, looking at Lady's traction rods and pistons. "But, she never got to ride with Lady. I couldn't fix her in time." He sighed sadly.
"Grandpa. No matter what, even if Grandma Tasha sn't around, she will always be here in our hearts." Daphne gently held her grandpa's hand, as he gently held her hand also. "Let's do something so we won't forget her: a ride onboard Lady, for Grandma Tasha."
Burnett felt something lift inside him, and he felt something lift off his shoulders with ease, and it made him smile the biggest smile he smiled in a long long time. "Thank you." He said to Daphne, gently squeezing her hands.
"Of course, Grandpa." Daphne smiled warmly.
Rose and Braedey, who watched this little interaction between Daphne and Burnett, can't help but smile softly and they both held hands, looking over to one another. They then heard approaching footsteps, and they saw Scorcher and Sheeva walking in, bags full of the special coal in hand.
"Anyone order coal for Christmas?" Scorcher joked.
"Nice work, Scorcher." Rose gives a thumbs up.
"Let's get to work." Braedey smiled to him.
Sure enough, Burnett and Scorcher began to shovel the coal into a now burning firebox, the fire burning strong and bright, all the while with Braedey and Rose oiling Lady's axles, traction rods, wheels and pistons. Once enough coal is inside of the firebox, the firebox doors slammed shut, and suddenly, white steam shoots out of Lady's funnel and her pistons. Then, the front headlamps turn on, and Lady's whistle blew long and loud for the first time in a very long time, the sound echoing all around the mountain.
"We've got steam!" Daphne called.
"She lives!" Rose chimed.
"All aboard!" Braedey announced.
"Next stop, the Island of Sodor!" Scorcher declared.
With a feat of strength, and the groaning of wheels and stiff joints, Lady's traction rods and wheels now began to move once again in a very long time, her finally under her own steam and motion. With two short toots of her whistle, Lady, along with Burnett, Daphne, Scorcher, Sheeva, Rose and Braedey, puffed out of the workshop of Muffle Mountain, heading on forth onto the Magic Railroad for Sodor.
Sure enough, Lady was now puffing down the tracks of the Magic Railroad, making her way through the thorn-covered landscape, heading forth towards Sodor.
Scorcher suddenly saw something behind the little tank engine. "Hey! Guys! Take a look at this!" He called. When they look behind Lady's bunker and buffer-beam, they all now saw swirls of magic energy coming from Lady, and it was sprinkling down onto the tracks.
"Whoa..." Braedey looks on.
"What is that?" Rose asked in amazement.
"The railroad! It's getting its magical energy back." Sheeva now deduced.
"It's thanks to Lady." Scorcher added.
Daphne then had an idea. She goes and grabs her purse, and she now started to scoop up the swirls into the bag, Rose even helping her out.
Lady's wheels now whir like the wind as she charges down the Magic Railroad, her golden magic puffing out of her pistons and funnel as she travels down along the tracks. As they travel along, a faint green light seems to begin to appear through the thorns and vines, now replacing the ominous and eerie mood from hefore as Lady chugged onward down the line.
"Well, M'Lady, the lights are all green for you now." Burnett told the little engine as he leans out of the cab, gently patting the side of Lady's cab. "Green for glory." He leans back in, looking over to Daphne.
"Tasha would've loved this journey." Daphne smiled, as Burnett looked to his niece.
"Yes. She would." Burnett nodded back, and hugged his niece. "And she'd love it that you're with me now."
"That's sweet." Rose said softly.
"Yeah." Braedey nodded back to the blonde mermaid princess. "Definitely..." He then looks ahead. "Hey, the thorns and vines are disappearing..." He said, everyone else looking ahead to see.
Braedey was right. The thorns now disappeared from sight and away from the tracks, fading away like they were made of dust, now revealing a beautiful lush countryside of green grassy fields and blue skies, the rails now changing from being rusty and old to brand new and made of pure gold. As she travel along, in a flash of golden light, Lady's face now appeared on the front smokebox foot of the boiler.
Lady smiled gently. "So Burnett, you didn't forget about magic. It's safe inside you." She said to Burnett in a calm and soothing feminine voice, and Burnett patted the side of Lady's cab.
"She's alive..." Rose smiled happily.
"This is amazing..." Scorcher mused, he and Sheeva looking out at the lush landscape passing by them. "To think that this place really exists..."
"It's unbelievable unless you're there to see it." Sheeva added.
Just then, a familiar four-chime steam whistle echoes out behind Lady, immediately getting Daphne's attention as she looks back. Her eyes widened as she looks. "It's Thomas!" She cried out.
Burnett, Scorcher, Sheeva, Braedey and Rose all now look back down the line behind them, and they could see the blue tank engine not too far behind, a big smile now present on his face.
"You found her, and she's beautiful!!" Thomas cheered to everyone.
"Hey, Thomas!" Rose waved back.
Burnett now turned to Daphne, who smiled to him, and Burnett pointed over to lady's whistle string. Daphne immediately understood what her grandfather was gesturing about, so she pulled on the string twice, making Lady blow her whistle twice as Daphne looks back. Thomas whistled back in response with a smile on his face.
Then, in the all-now-familiar whistle, rainbow flash, and bell ringing, Lady now arrived on Sodor rails in a cloud of steam. She puffed away from the buffers, and travelled down the line with a smile on her face, the occupants in her cab looking about.
"We made it. We're on Sodor." Rose smiled, as he looked around at the countryside.
"We did it!" Daphne said happily.
"Extraordinary..." Scorcher commented in awe. "So this is the North Western Railway on the Island of Sodor..."
"Okay, Lady. Let's slow you down." Braedey asked softly to Lady. "We need to stop by the grotto further ahead down the line."
"Very well." Lady replied warmly.
With that, Lady began to lose speed and she eventually began to slow down to a gentle stop, pulling up to the old grotto, stopping right by with a gentle hiss of her brakes and small cloud of steam.
Mr. Garcia, Casey, along with Fred, Velma, Shaggy, Scooby, Willow, and Maria, were all surprised when they saw Lady chuffing up, just as they saw Braedey, Daphne, Rose, Scorcher, Sheeva, and Burnett Stone climb out of Lady's cab.
"Jinkies, they're back!" Velma smiled.
"Mom, Dad!" Maria ran up to her parents and hugged them close to her.
"Maria." Scorcher sighed in relief.
"Guys! You're okay." Shaggy ran up and hugged the others.
"Of course we are." Braedey chuckled.
"You made it back." Willow praised to them, just as Scooby tackled and licked Braedey, much to the latter's giggling. "Oh, Scooby..."
"Casey, Mr. Garcia." Rose smiled and hugged the two men. "I'm glad you two are alright."
"Same." Casey smiled. "I'm still here and still kicking."
"Everyone, this is my Grandpa. Burnett Blake Stone." Daphne now introduces her grandfather to everyone.
"I'm glad you were able to find your way back." Mr. Garcia nodded to Burnett, who smiled back.
"Things have definitely changed." Burnett nodded.
Mr. Garcia now got Casey's attention. "Casey, look at this." He pointed over to Lady. "Do you realise who this is?" He now looked excited.
"I admit, she is definitely the most beautiful engine I've ever seen-" Casey suddenly stopped and gasped as he looked at Lady. "Wait... This is the Lost Engine?!" He gasped in amazement. "Oh, am I glad to see you!" He turned to the others. "Now we can go back to Shining Time, and even get our magic back!" His face showed of happiness and hope.
However, Mr. Garcia looked at his cousin, and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Casey. We... we won't make it back to Shining Time without the Good Dust, even with the Lost Engine." He told Casey, and his face faltered a little. "Without knowing the second part of the clue, all of our magic... this island... it will be gone from existence."
Casey now felt tears starting to come into his eyes, and he fell to his knees as he turned to look at Lady, while Scorcher and Sheeva looked at their new friend with expression of worry on their faces. Maria walked up and sat down next to Casey, patting his back to try and comfort him.
Daphne now realised something as she looked back down the line that Lady just arrived upon. "Wait. Guys, where is Thomas?" She asked to them. That immediately got mostly everyone's attention. They too saw that the blue tank engine wasn't there.
"He's gone?" Shaggy questioned.
"Where is he?" Sheeva looks on.
"How does an engine disappear?" Fred inquired.
"That's not possible, Fred." Velma rolled her eyes.
"But he was right behind us back on the Railroad." Rose insisted. "We saw him, right?"
"Where did he go?" Scorcher wondered.
"Hang on. Let's just wait and see what happens." Braedey now said calmly to everyone.
Meanwhile, back at the magic buffers, in an all-familiar whistle, rainbow flash, and bell ringing, Thomas finally emerged from the Magic Railroad. He puffed away from the magic buffers, heading off down the line, and he whistled happily as he puffed off towards the grotto.
"I see him. Here he comes." Velma called after looking through some binoculars to try and spot him.
"Guess he was a little bit behind us." Sheeva took a guess.
"AHA!" A horrid voice suddenly called out from down upon the mainline, and this made everyone all freeze in horror, Sheeva and Scorcher holding onto their daughter, Braedey and Rose both holding hands, just as Thomas pulled up to the grotto behind Lady. "There's the blue puffball!! And look who he brought!"
Lady and Burnett were both in shock. They both knew who owned that voice. It was Diesel 10 himself, now rounding the bend, with his claw raised and armed, ready for the attack, rolling forward like a tiger ready to ounce upon its prey!
"It's D-D-D-D-Diesel 10!" Shaggy and Scooby yell out.
"Slodge! Come and destroy!" Diesel 10 now ordered to his lackeys as he rolled forwards.
However, both Splatter and Dodge stopped where they were, no longer wanting to work with Diesel 10. "No, no. You do it yourself. We don't like you. Yeah, we mean that. Emphatically. Yeah, what does that mean? I have no idea. It's a good word." They talked to each other.
"If Diesel 10 gets to Lady, it's game over!" Scorcher now said to the others. "We need a plan, and fast!"
"Run, Lady! Quickly! And I'm going to help you!" Thomas said in alarm.
Burnett suddenly leaped into action as he got into Lady's cab. "So am I, M'Lady." He said to the little purple and gold tank engine, patting her side gently. "I won't let you down." With that, he began to operate Lady's controls, getting her ready.
"Rose, come on!" Braedey called, he and Rose now jumping into Thomas' cab.
"Braedey Martin, what are you doing?!" Daphne cried out.
"Saving a steam engine's life!" Braedey declared, Scooby now jumping into Thomas' cab, Scorcher climbing aboard Lady.
"Let's do this!" Scorcher declared, Burnett nodding back.
"AHH, who needs you, Splodge!!" Diesel 10 roared to his two former lackeys, not bothering to deal with with one of them as he got closer to the two steam engines go ahead, him while opening and closing his claw, ready to attack, ready to pounce.
Sure enough, Lady began to move away from the grotto. "Burnett! Watch out for the viaduct! It's starting to collapse!! It's dangerous!" Mr. Garcia called out to Burnett, remembering what was happening at the bridge.
"Roger that!" Scorcher called back as Lady puffs away first.
"We'll keep Lady safe!" Braedey called as Thomas soon chuffs away from the grotto in a cloud of steam.
Diesel 10 raced by with a roar of his engine, laughing evilly as the others jumps back, then they all turned to Mr. Garcia when he suddenly screamed unexpectedly.
"What's the matter?" Casey asked.
"Why did you just scream?" Daphne inquired.
"Yeah. What's the problem?" Fred asked, sounding calm and collective. "Thomas, Braedey and the others are gonna get Lady away from Diesel 10, and they'll be just fine." He pointed his thumb to down the track that the three engines just took.
"Don't you all understand?" Mr. Garcia now sounded worried, which he doesn't sound like often. "'Lady'. That Lost Engine's name is Lady." Everyone now looked down the line. "She's part of the clue to the source of our magic-"
"-and the Gold-Dust!!" Casey and Mr. Garcia call out in unison, and in three seconds, they scream out in fear!!!
"Zoinks!/Jeepers!/Jinkies!/Oh, no!" The gang and Scorcher's family cried out. "Braedey! Rose!" Willow cried. "Scooby!" Shaggy yelled in worry.
