Chapter 77: Rescue Trio
It took Geraldine some time but she finally grew a spine. She decided to take Sunny's advice and try to talk to Reggie. It was after winning that race that made her think a lot. She lay in bed that night thinking about Reggie. It dawned on her that if she was going to be happy in her life, she was going to have to tell Reggie on how she really felt about her.
If she was lucky Reggie probably felt the same way about her. If she was unlucky then maybe it was all for nothing.
Geraldine went through her old neighborhood. Even if she lives now in Rockford Hills Geraldine never really forgot where she came from.
Nothing about her old neighborhood changed. Same people hustling and same dirty crime ridden streets. Some people recognized her and still greeted her. To her it was good to be back.
Geraldine parks in front of Reggie's house. She breathed slowly as she knocked on the door.
No one answered. Geraldine knocked again but still no answer. She tried her phone but again no answer. She waved down one of Reggie's neighbors "Hey you seen Reggie?".
"She stepped out earlier" the neighbor mentioned "Something about selling merchandise". Geraldine put two and two together "Goddamn it Reggie" she whispered under her breath "Do you know where she went?" she wondered "I think it was those oil fields in Murrieta she heading to" the neighbor mentioned. Geraldine got back into her Cavalcade. She quickly pulled out her phone.
"Sunny? Listen, you ain't busy are you?" Geraldine asked "I just finished the last of some interviews, what do you need?". Geraldine breathed "Girl I think Reggie's in trouble".
"Shit, all right; tell me everything" Sunny demands "I asked one of her neighbors, they said she headin' to those oil fields in Murrieta to get rid of merchandise" Geraldine get's her Beretta ready "Gerry you mentioned Reggie stole some stuff, what was it?" Sunny asked.
Geraldine sighed "It was some pills, she's been tryin' to sell them". In her mind she tells herself that she should have stopped Reggie from doing this. She told her to get rid of them. "Girl we gotta get to those oil fields!" Geraldine pleads "Don't have to ask me twice, I'll call Chelsea. We'll meet you there" Sunny promised .
Geraldine pulled out her Berretta. She rescued Reggie plenty of times. The fact that she has to save her again this time because of the mistake that split them up and strained their friendship. Now she's going to rescue her one more time, not only to restore their friendship but this time to confess her true feelings to her. That's going to be one of the most tricky part of this.

Geraldine caught her breath. It made her feel like a wreck.
"Geraldine, relax" Sunny tells her "You're freaking me out". Geraldine sighed, she was tempted to smoke a cigarette but she didn't want to give away their position. "Shit I should have seen this comin'" Geraldine tells herself "Listen" Sunny puts her hands on her shoulders "We're going to rescue her, you have my word" she assured her. Chelsea came back from scouting "Alright, so I saw Reggie" she says to her "They took her inside, her hands are bound; we got to act quick" Chelsea went to the truck of her car "We're going to have to go in hard, knowing these pricks they're probably not going to give her back that easily".
"Did you get a look at these fuckers?" Sunny asked as she loaded shells into a Mossberg 500 "Vagos" Chelsea says as she grabs a M1A rifle "Should have seen that shit comin' after we killed that motherfucker" Geraldine grinds her teeth. Sunny looked at her "You know these fuckers?".
Geraldine sighed "A while back Reggie took some stuff from a guy we iced, the guy we killed was the brother of Billy Villanueva", Sunny scoffed sarcastically "Billy Villanueva? The MMA fighter? You two killed his brother?". Geraldine sighed "Look shit went crazy, I didn't think that fool would show up to that deal and try to get us". Chelsea laughed a bit "You and Reggie killed Billy Villanueva? Holy fuck I knew a guy who put down some money on him before he got wasted, damn he got so pissed off when he couldn't collect on the next fight he was supposed to be in".
Geraldine sighed "Fuck I told Reggie to get rid of them".
"Geraldine, now's not the time to regret anything. We'll help you get Reggie back" Sunny says as she cocks her shotgun "I know girl" Geraldine loads her AR15 "Let do this" she cocks her rifle.
The three approach carefully.
"Okay here's how it going to go" Sunny as she lays out her plan "Chelsea go to the left, Geraldine take the right and I'll go up the middle" she gives the orders "Easy" Chelsea says as she runs off to the left "All right girl, let's do this" Geraldine cocks her rifle "Geraldine?" Sunny says her name "Remember, you gotta tell Reggie on how you feel after this. No bullshit. Just tell her" Sunny looked at her "Y-Yeah I know" Geraldine promised herself as she ran to the right. Sunny sprints up the middle, she see's her first target and doesn't hesitate to pull the trigger.
Boom!
The first shot from her shotgun takes down her first target. Already people began to shout that an intruder was in their midst. Sunny ran towards an old rusted out tow truck for cover "Get that bitch!" one of the thugs yelled. Over to the left Chelsea shoots a few, she got the drop on them before they could react. On the right Geraldine shoots the first two that she see's, her mind racing hoping to find Reggie. These people weren't going to make it easy. Several shots are fired at Geraldine. She in return shoots back. She manages to take a few of them down. She runs fast. Geraldine clears a couple of thugs coming her way.
Sunny shoots a couple as she proceeds the rest of the way. Chelsea finishes her sweep as she joins up with Sunny. Geraldine catches up as she shoots someone coming at her with an Uzi. The three run towards their objective. "Chelsea, find an opening" Sunny orders "They might try to take Reggie hostage, be ready to take a shot when you see it".
Chelsea changes a clip "Right" she hurries off to find the perfect spot. "Geraldine get ready, we're going in" Sunny tells Geraldine "Okay" Geraldine exhaled as she inserts a magazine into her rifle "I hope we're not too late" she says as she cocks her rifle. Sunny and Geraldine run up to the door.
Sunny kicks the door in. Both her and Geraldine enter with their guns at the ready. They scan the room "Get the fuck back!" the head banger yells as he puts a gun to Reggie's head.
Reggie had a couple bruises on her face and she was bleeding from her lip "Shit! Geraldine! Shoot this motherfucker!" she pleads "Let her go motherfucker!" Geraldine cursed "Come any closer and I'll blow this puta's head off!". Sunny's ear heard footsteps on the roof "Keep him talking" she whispered "Listen man, just let her go!" Geraldine once again ordered "I'm darin' either one of you bitches to come towards me! I'll shoot this bitch!" he once again warned. Sunny sense that Chelsea was in position "SÃ, te escuché tiro caliente (Yeah I heard you hot shot)".
"Que?! (What?!)" the thug questioned "Dije tiro caliente (I said hot shot)" Sunny repeated.
A shot pierces through the roof and goes straight through the thugs skull. As he falls back Geraldine catches Reggie. As she peered up her eyes caught a glimpse of her savior, her best friend; Geraldine. Yet something about Geraldine was different. Not her hair or her hoop earrings. She looked up and something in her eyes told her this wasn't the same Geraldine she once knew. She seemed more stronger and not as dense as she once was. Their eyes met with each other. "Shit Reggie, are you all right?" Geraldine asked "Y-Yeah...mm motherfuckers just roughed me up that's all" Reggie said as she wiped the blood from her lip "Shit, how'd you find me?" she wondered "I went to your place to look for you, no one saw you so I asked and they said you went to sell all your merchandise".
Geraldine helped Reggie up. She noticed Sunny, the person that took Geraldine under her wing. The person she treated like a superhero from a comic. The person who bragged about the most popular student in class. This girl that Geraldine bragged about wasn't the person she expected to see. Something about her though spelled that she wasn't an easy target. Her eyes told her that she had a hard life and instantly told her never to cross someone like her.
"So you must be Geraldine's friend that she's been talking to me about" Sunny came towards them "This isn't the way that I wanted to you but nice to meet you" she greets "You gotta be-" Reggie trails as she realized who was in front of her "Sunny" she says her name. Sunny put her hand forward "Shake her hand girl, she just saved your life" Geraldine tells Reggie.
Reggie carefully shook Sunny's hand "Uh nice to meet you" she slowly shook her hand "Hey not to interrupt the love fest but we have to get out of here before any more of them show up" Chelsea chimed in as she entered "Come on, let's get the fuck out of here" Sunny orders as she exited through the door. Geraldine grabbed Reggie by the hand.
As they were walking out, Reggie could feel something different about Geraldine. She looked more tougher than usual. And it could have just been her but it made her look more attractive.

Reggie remained still as Chelsea cleaned up her wounds "Haven't seen your ass in a while" Reggie says as Chelsea bandaged her up "I'm good, we been busy all the whole time while the three of us were in Blaine".
"Shit, you three that far way?" Reggie became stunned "What'd you do to work there?".
Chelsea almost was tempted to say about their experience working with Pierce but then remembered that Sunny would mostly put her in a chokehold until she stopped breathing "We ran some errands here and there" Chelsea lied "Nothing too serious".
Sunny and Geraldine walked up the stairs "Come on Geraldine, it's now or never" Sunny tells her as she walked the stairs "Shit, I don't know" Geraldine hesitates "Look" Sunny turns back to her "Stop being a goddamn wuss, either you tell how you feel or I'm going to tell her myself" Sunny threatened "Fuck...all right" Geraldine finally had to muster the courage to tell Reggie on how she felt about her. But first things first, she needed to know how Reggie ended up in that mess to begin. Sunny opened the door "Chelsea, come on, we're going to wait downstairs. Let's give them some space". Chelsea got up "Can't I stay and watch?" she pleads "Shut up and come on" Sunny orders "Aw!" Chelsea whined as she's forced to exit. Geraldine closes the door and makes sure it's locked.
"Shit, I forgot how crazy she was" Reggie remarked "Yeah" Geraldine awkwardly chuckled "Reggie, what happened? How'd those fools jump you?". Reggie sighed "After that fight we had, I went around to sell some of that shit but no one was takin' it". Geraldine sat down next to her "It didn't matter where I went; no one was buyin'. But Frank knew some people". Geraldine heard his name "Frank? What the fuck does he do with this?".
Reggie initially hesitated but after everything that happened she figured it was best to tell "Yeah, he said he knew some people. Said they would buy for three hundred thousand". Geraldine carefully put two and two together "He set the whole thing up" she deduces "What do you mean?" Reggie looked at her "He wanted to cap you, he probably was the reason those fools jumped us at that place. Wouldn't surprise me if he just wanted to kill us so he can keep whatever money we were supposed to get it, shit sounds like he was the one who set up the other deals that went wrong". For once Reggie had to sit and think back to everything that happened, then it starts to dawn on her "Shit" she cursed "Shit!".
She let out a frustrated sigh "Damn girl you were right". Some tears started to flow from her eyes. Geraldine wiped some of her tears away. Her heart starts to beat, it was here that she finally took Sunny's advice to heart. "Reggie, listen; I got to tell you somethin'" Geraldine exhales as she knew this was going to be that moment. Reggie looked over to her "Shit I-I'm strugglin' to say this" she stuttered "I l-l-like you more than just a f-friend".
Reggie stood stunned. Geraldine was ready to get her feelings hurt but then something happened that she didn't see coming. Reggie caressed her face gently. Geraldine slowly came towards her friend, a girl she's known all of her life, and gives her a kiss. She blushed and chuckled sheepishly. Reggie returns with a kiss of her own. Both seemed to accept their kisses as they embraced each other and kept kissing. They pulled away and almost as if it was on instinct both muttered the same word "Damn..." and smiled then laughed.
"So what does this mean?" Reggie wondered "Are we...?", Geraldine sighed happily "Shit, I guess we are". Reggie went over to the window and peered out "Oh shit" she says in astonishment "There's a basketball court here". Geraldine laughed "This place got everythin'" she comes next to Reggie and takes her hand "Geraldine, I wanted to say sorry for that fight we had" she apologized "I was just scared of losin' you". Geraldine squeezed her hand "I know you didn't mean any of it".
"So that's Sunny?" Reggie asked "She's a tough bitch" she remarked "Yeah, shes' more than that". Reggie looked at Geraldine "Well if you're cool with her then I'll be cool with her too".
Reggie gives Geraldine another kiss "Come on Reggie, don't tell me this place is not cool" Geraldine tells her "Shit, it's a step up from where you were".
"Reggie, move in with me" Geraldine says to her friend now turned girlfriend "On one catch" Reggie named her condition "You better treat my ass good cause I'm with you forever" she gives her a quick kiss, to which Geraldine chuckled then gave her a kiss "What about Frank? What do we do about him?" Reggie needed to know "He's gonna get what's comin' to him, I'll make sure of that" Geraldine promised "Come on, we gotta meet the others downstairs".
The two came downstairs hand in hand, smiling.
"Chelsea for the last time, we're not taking a drink until Geraldine comes down" Sunny stood guard on the fridge "Aw! Come on! I need a beer!" Chelsea complained "Speak of the devil" Sunny says with both of them smiling, she goes over to them "Finally!" Chelsea eagerly goes to get a beer.
"So...we-" Geraldine was about to say about their kiss "Don't say anything" Sunny stops her before she embarrasses herself "Just be happy" she smiled "So" Sunny looks at Reggie "Let's me introduce myself again, I'm Sunny" she reintroduces herself "And you must be Geraldine's best friend now turned girlfriend that she loves to talk about". Geraldine laughed "Girl stop, don't embarrass me". Chelsea popped the cap off her bottle "And I'm guessing you know Chelsea already" she annoyingly says as Chelsea chugs her beer "Yeah, I know I'm the greatest so no need for intros". Sunny rolled her eyes.
As Geraldine goes to order something to eat she get's a text from Sunny.
'Take a few days for yourselves ;D you need it'.
Geraldine looked in Sunny's direction. Who in return winked back and smiled at her. It's at this time that she's going to follow her heart and make sure to give it every bit of love it can endure.
