Chapter 2 – Threads Of Chaos

Sokovia – Hydra Facility
Snow whipped violently across the dense forest surrounding Baron Strucker's base, a fortress hidden deep in the mountains. The facility was shielded by towering walls, laser turrets, and a cold, unrelenting blizzard that shrouded its defenses in natural camouflage.
Outside the forest, the Avengers stood ready, their breaths visible in the icy air as they gathered around the mission display projected from Tony's holographic device. The tension was palpable, a prelude to chaos.
Steve Rogers' voice was firm as he reviewed the plan. "We go in fast, neutralize resistance, and secure Strucker's research. Minimal collateral damage."
Tony Stark smirked, leaning against the trunk of a snow-covered tree. "Minimal damage? Seriously, Cap, you've seen how we fight. I think we redefine collateral every time."
Clint Barton chuckled as he adjusted his quiver. "Let's just aim for 'necessary damage.' You know, like punching through walls and blowing up tanks."
Ben Tennyson sat nearby, his green jacket contrasting sharply with the snow around him. His thumb toyed with the Omnitrix dial as he cycled through forms in his head. Pulled unexpectedly from the Null Void into this world, Ben knew his instincts hadn't steered him wrong—he was meant to be here. But the question was why.
Steve glanced at Ben, his eyes narrowing slightly. "You ready for this?"
Ben returned his gaze with a confident grin. "Ready? I'm always ready. You guys might have style, but I've got substance."
With that, the ramp lowered, and the Avengers descended toward the fortress.
Before the facility's perimeter alarms could activate, Thor landed with all the fury of Asgard. Mjolnir crackled with lightning as it slammed into the snow-covered ground, sending shockwaves through Hydra's defenses. The sheer force of his attack shattered turrets and sent guards flying into the blizzard.
Explosions erupted across the hillside as Tony streaked overhead, repulsors firing in rapid succession. Turrets and armored vehicles were obliterated before they could even react.
Steve charged forward, shield raised, crashing through enemy lines like a battering ram. His movements were precise, his strikes calculated as Hydra's forces struggled to counter his relentless advance.
Natasha and Clint moved like wraiths, dismantling defenses with fluid teamwork. Natasha disarmed Hydra operatives with sharp, efficient strikes, while Clint provided cover from a distance, firing precision arrows that exploded on impact.
Ben twisted the Omnitrix dial, emerald light flashing as XLR8 emerged. The world slowed in his vision as his super-speed activated, allowing him to sprint between enemy soldiers, dodging bullets and weaving through blasts as though they were suspended in time.
With effortless fluidity, Ben disarmed dozens of Hydra operatives, their weapons clattering to the snow before they even realized what had hit them.
Tony, hovering above the chaos, couldn't help but comment. "Okay, not to brag, but I'm officially jealous. You're making me look slow."
Ben skidded to a halt next to Steve, switching back to his normal form. "How's it going, Cap? Need me to handle anything?"
Steve deflected a blast with his shield, gritting his teeth. "We've got to get inside. That facility's the key."
Ben smirked, his confidence unshaken. "Leave that part to me."
With a swift twist of the Omnitrix, Four Arms took his place. With a roar, Ben grabbed a collapsed Hydra truck, lifting it effortlessly before hurling it at the fortress gates. The truck slammed into the steel doors, crumpling them and clearing the path.
The Avengers stormed inside.
Baron Strucker watched the battle unfold from his command center, his sharp features twisted in frustration. He had anticipated the Avengers—but the arrival of Ben Tennyson was an unwelcome complication. Strucker's jaw tightened as he turned toward Pietro and Wanda Maximoff.
"You know what to do," he said coldly, his voice heavy with command.
Pietro blurred into motion, vanishing in a streak of silver, while Wanda's fingers began to glow with an unnatural red energy. Her gaze was unreadable, her expression enigmatic.
Inside the facility, the Avengers advanced methodically, clearing room after room. But suddenly, things took a darker turn.
Ben felt it first—a shift in the air, a distortion that made the walls seem alive. His vision blurred, reality twisting and warping as if the fabric of the world was being stretched thin.
Wanda's influence.
Colors faded, voices distorted. Ben's mind filled with fleeting, haunting visions—images of battles long past, memories not his own. His breath quickened as he shook his head, snapping out of it just in time to see Wanda smirking from across the corridor.
"I don't like your tricks," Ben muttered, narrowing his eyes.
Meanwhile, Pietro struck. His blur of motion was impossible to follow as he darted between Avengers, landing a high-speed punch on Steve and scattering Clint's arrows with a sudden gust.
Ben's gaze sharpened. "Alright, speedster. You think you've got moves? Let me show you what real speed looks like."
Activating XLR8, Ben became a streak of blue energy. The world slowed to a crawl as he charged at Pietro, their collision sending shockwaves through the facility.
What followed was a dazzling display of super-speed combat—blurs of silver and blue darting across the battlefield. Ben's strikes were precise, his movements unpredictable as he countered Pietro's every attack. Pietro, for all his speed, was forced onto the defensive, his frustration evident in his sharp motions.
Ben smirked mid-battle, taunting Pietro. "Come on, is that all you've got? I've dodged faster punches while eating breakfast."
Pietro growled, his frustration boiling over. "You talk too much."
"Oh, you're not even ready for my best quips," Ben shot back, dodging another punch with ease.
Switching forms mid-motion, Ben turned into Diamondhead, his crystalline armor glinting in the dim light. He launched sharp shards toward Pietro's feet, forcing the speedster to misstep and crash into the wall with a thunderous impact.
Pietro groaned, slumping to the ground. "That was cheating."
Ben cracked his knuckles, his grin wide. "What can I say? I'm innovative."
Meanwhile, Wanda's presence grew more sinister. Her glowing red energy formed illusions that danced around the Avengers, creating phantom enemies and warping their perceptions. Natasha struck at shadows that weren't there, while Thor found himself momentarily lost in a maze of illusions.
Ben sprinted toward Wanda, activating Heatblast to counter her eerie energy with searing flames. The corridor lit up as fire met crimson light, the clash creating a blinding explosion that shattered the illusions.
As the Avengers regrouped, Ben and Tony pressed forward, reaching the facility's innermost chamber. The doors slammed open, revealing Strucker's vault.
Inside, Loki's scepter stood, glowing eerily in the containment field.
The moment they laid eyes on it, the room seemed to pulse with energy. The Mind Stone's power radiated, affecting Ben's Omnitrix and Tony's systems.
Ben's gaze fixed on the scepter, his voice steady. "This… is bigger than we thought."
