Chapter 27 – Titans of the Void

The silent expanse of space stretched endlessly in every direction, its endless darkness dotted with shimmering stars. Ben Tennyson, transformed into Atomix, soared upward, his reactor-core form glowing with vibrant green light. Below him, Sokovia floated precariously, its thrusters pushing it higher into the atmosphere while the battle raged on the fractured streets.
Above, in the distance, the meteor loomed—a massive, burning mass accelerating toward Earth with deadly precision. Its fiery glow pulsed ominously, casting faint shadows across the heavens.
Ben gritted his teeth, his nuclear-infused limbs pulsating with energy. "Alright, big guy," he muttered to himself, his voice resonating like the hum of a reactor, "time to make the biggest save of my life."
But as he approached the meteor, something unusual caught his eye.
A colossal figure emerged from the shadow of the meteor—its size rivaling the celestial object itself. Its form was unmistakable, yet entirely alien. Towering, radiant, and formidable, it was Ultimate Ultimate Way Big, but twisted. His red eyes burned like smoldering embers, and the dial on his chest glowed an eerie crimson.
Ben froze mid-flight, staring in disbelief. "What the—Way Big?!"
The kaiju-like figure shifted slightly, its massive limbs casting dark silhouettes against the meteor's burning glow. Then—a familiar voice echoed through the void.
"Not just Way Big, Tennyson," Albedo said, his tone laced with irritation and exhaustion. "Ultimate Ultimate Way Big."
Ben blinked, his reactor core flickering faintly. "Wait—Ultimate Ultimate? That's not even a thing! How is this possible?"
Albedo's voice carried faint amusement, but it was quickly overtaken by impatience. "I'll explain later. Right now, there's a planet to save—and you're wasting time!"
Ben frowned, his curiosity overshadowed by the urgency of the moment. "Alright, Mr. Big and Angry—what's the plan?"
Albedo growled. "You're going full nuclear, Tennyson. Punch the meteor into the trajectory of my beam."
Ben raised a brow, his reactor-core chest glowing brighter. "Punch it? That's the plan?"
"It's a *better* plan than letting it crash into Earth!" Albedo snapped, his voice dripping with irritation.
Ben grinned faintly despite the situation. "Fine, fine—no need to go kaiju on me."
Albedo scoffed. "I *am* kaiju, you moron. Now move!"
Ben hovered briefly, Azmuth's cryptic advice echoing in his mind: *Go by your guts.*
The words resonated deeply. This wasn't just about power—it was about trust. Albedo may have been unpredictable and arrogant, but right now, they shared the same goal.
"Alright, Big Red," Ben muttered. "Let's do this."
Atomix surged forward, his reactor core pulsing as he launched himself toward the meteor. Energy crackled around him, creating ripples in the vacuum of space as he closed the distance.
Albedo, towering above, extended his massive arms. Crimson energy began to gather at his palms, forming a glowing, focused beam that radiated raw power. The kaiju figure roared, the sound echoing through the void as he prepared to unleash destruction.
The meteor loomed closer, its fiery surface pulsating with gamma-infused Vibranium. Ben clenched his fists, his reactor appendages glowing brighter as he reached the center of the meteor's trajectory.
"Here goes nothing," Ben muttered.
With a deafening surge, Atomix slammed his nuclear fists into the meteor's surface. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, temporarily destabilizing the meteor's descent. Ben gritted his teeth as the gamma radiation from the meteor collided with his reactor core, sparks flying as he redirected the energy toward Albedo's beam.
The kaiju-like figure roared once more, his crimson beam surging forward. The energy collided with the meteor, engulfing its surface in a blinding light. Ben adjusted his position, using his reactor appendages to stabilize the meteor's movement, ensuring it aligned perfectly with Albedo's attack.
The combined force of Atomix and Ultimate Ultimate Way Big shattered the meteor's outer layer, breaking apart its gamma-infused Vibranium core. Pieces of the meteor disintegrated under the concentrated power, scattering harmlessly into space.
Ben floated back slightly, his reactor core dimming as the energy subsided. He scanned the area, searching for the towering kaiju figure.
But Albedo was gone.
Ben frowned, looking around in confusion. "How does someone that big disappear in an eyeblink?"
The stars offered no answer, their distant glow remaining unchanged as silence returned to the void.
Ben sighed, shaking his head. "Classic Albedo," he muttered. "He always knows how to pull a vanishing act."
Turning his gaze downward, Ben launched himself back toward Sokovia, his reactor core glowing faintly as he descended.
Below, on the crumbling streets of Sokovia, the Avengers stood together as Vision gently lowered the floating city. His serene expression remained focused as he adjusted the trajectory, ensuring the thrusters powered down without destabilizing the foundation. Slowly, Sokovia descended toward the Earth's surface, its destruction narrowly avoided.
As Ben approached, Natasha spotted him first. Relief flickered across her features as she stepped forward, the tension in her posture easing slightly.
Thor raised Mjolnir, grinning faintly. "Tennyson returns."
Tony glanced upward, his HUD flickering as he scanned Ben's approaching form. "Great—now let's see if he's glowing in the dark."
Ben landed softly amidst the group, his reactor form flickering as he deactivated the Ultimatrix. The transformation faded, leaving him in his human form once more. He exhaled deeply, his expression a mix of exhaustion and triumph.
Natasha stepped closer, her voice steady but warm. "You did it."
Ben grinned faintly. "What, saving the planet? Just another Tuesday."
Thor let out a booming laugh. "You fought like a true warrior, Tennyson!"
Tony crossed his arms, smirking. "Alright, kid—you're officially on my list of people who are slightly cooler than me. Slightly."
Ben chuckled softly, but his gaze wandered upward, where the remnants of the shattered meteor glimmered faintly. His grin faded as his thoughts turned to Albedo.
"He really disappeared," Ben muttered, his tone quiet but thoughtful. "Even when he doesn't do anything shady, he's still shady."
Natasha placed a hand on his shoulder. "We'll figure it out later. For now… let's finish this."
Ben nodded, his resolve steady. The battle wasn't over—but they had faced the impossible and prevailed.
