Epilogue – New Beginnings

The wind roared past Ben Tennyson as he sped across the horizon in his XLR8 form, the landscape below blurring into a streak of color. The battles were over, the world saved, but the weight of everything lingered heavily in his chest. He didn't want to dwell on what could have gone wrong—he simply wanted to see the people who mattered most.
Skidding to a halt in front of Plumber HQ, Ben deactivated the Ultimatrix, the flash of emerald light fading into the soft glow of the setting sun. The air smelled like metal and ozone, a reminder of the chaos that had unfolded mere hours earlier. Ben took a deep breath, steadying himself as he stepped inside.
The command center was buzzing with activity—Plumber officers moving swiftly, screens blinking with reports of stability returning to the planet. But none of this mattered as much as the four faces waiting for him.
Gwen Tennyson was the first to approach, her mana-gauntlets dimmed but her expression bright as she hugged him tightly. "You're okay," Gwen said softly, her voice carrying both relief and quiet pride.
Ben hugged her back, his own voice steady but warm. "Yeah, I am."
Kevin Levin, leaning casually against a console, gave his signature smirk. "Look who finally decided to show up. You look like you've been through the wringer, Tennyson."
Ben chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck. "Says the guy who wasn't chasing meteors through space."
Rook Blonko stepped forward, his usual seriousness softened by the faintest smile. "You fought well, Ben. Sokovia—and Earth—owes you a great debt."
Ben grinned, slapping Rook lightly on the shoulder. "Aw, come on, Rook. You're making me blush."
And finally, Max Tennyson—Ben's steadfast anchor through all the madness—approached, his expression filled with quiet pride. He rested a hand on Ben's shoulder, his voice calm but filled with love. "You've done us proud, Ben. You always do."
Ben hugged his grandfather tightly, letting the moment sink in. It wasn't just the victories—they were together, safe, and alive. And that was all he needed right now.
Later that evening, Ben found himself darting across the skies once more, headed north toward New York. Stark had sent him a message earlier: the Avengers were regrouping at their new base, and his input was needed for what came next.
Landing softly on the front lawn of the upstate Avengers facility, Ben deactivated XLR8 and took in the sight before him. Stark Industries and S.H.I.E.L.D. construction crews buzzed around the grounds, putting the finishing touches on the sleek, modern building. The expansive space gleamed under the moonlight, a new chapter for Earth's mightiest heroes.
Standing near the entrance, Ben spotted Thor, Steve Rogers, and Tony Stark gathered in a casual circle, Mjolnir resting on the ground beside them. Ben walked over, grinning as he slid into the conversation.
"…It's not just strength," Thor was saying, his booming voice filled with authority. "To lift Mjolnir, one must possess worthiness—a rare quality indeed."
Tony rolled his eyes, arms crossed as his suit recalibrated itself. "Alright, Point Break. Worthiness is overrated. I mean, come on, billionaire genius with a heart of gold? Practically invented worthiness."
Steve chuckled, shaking his head. "It's not about qualifications, Stark."
Ben grinned, tilting his head toward Thor. "Alright, hammer guy. Settle this for me—how many people have actually tried lifting it?"
Thor smirked faintly, his gaze shifting toward Ben. "Perhaps you wish to test yourself?"
Ben held up his hands in mock defense. "No thanks. I've had enough heavy-lifting for one day."
The group laughed, their camaraderie easing the tension that had gripped them in recent days. But soon, Thor's demeanor shifted into something more thoughtful.
"It is time I return to Asgard," Thor announced, his voice carrying both solemnity and resolution. "My people have need of me."
Steve nodded, his tone understanding. "We'll hold things down here."
Thor placed a hand on Steve's shoulder before glancing at Ben. "Farewell, Tennyson. You fought with valor today. Asgard will remember you."
Ben smiled, saluting playfully. "Take care, Thor. And maybe keep the meteors away next time."
Thor chuckled, lifting Mjolnir as the shimmering light of the Bifrost enveloped him. With a final nod, he disappeared into the portal.
Later, Ben found Natasha Romanoff in one of the training rooms, her posture relaxed but her expression thoughtful. He walked in quietly, leaning against the wall beside her. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
"You really scared me back there," Natasha said finally, her voice steady but tinged with vulnerability.
Ben exhaled softly, looking at her. "I know. And I'm sorry."
Natasha turned toward him, a faint smile tugging at her lips. "You've got guts, Tennyson. Never lose that."
Ben grinned. "Wouldn't dream of it."
As Ben prepared to leave, he met Steve Rogers near the facility's entrance. Sam Wilson waited nearby, his wings folded neatly as he adjusted his gear.
"You ready?" Steve asked, his shield slung across his back.
Ben nodded, his gaze steady. "Let's go find Bucky."
The three walked into the night, their mission unknown but their resolve unwavering.
Before departing, however, Ben paused as he spotted Azmuth standing near the courtyard, his tiny frame imposing as always. The Galvan's sharp gaze locked onto Ben as he approached.
"Ben Tennyson," Azmuth said, his voice firm but calm, "you've proven yourself worthy once more. I ask you—do you want the Omnitrix back?"
Ben grinned, his answer immediate. "Of course I do."
Azmuth smirked faintly, taking the Ultimatrix from Ben's wrist with a measured motion. "The Ultimatrix will undergo further upgrades. When I return, the Ultimatrix will be ready."
Ben nodded, watching as Azmuth disappeared into the shadows.
Inside the facility, Natasha and Clint Barton gathered the new recruits—Wanda and Pietro Maximoff, the Vision, and James Rhodes. The group stood together in the training area, anticipation flickering in their expressions.
Clint crossed his arms, smirking. "Alright, rookies. Let's see what you've got."
Natasha stepped forward, her tone calm but commanding. "This is the start of something new. Let's make it count."
And as the Avengers prepared for their next chapter, Ben looked toward the road with Captain America, knowing the fight was far from over but feeling ready for whatever came next.
