Third POV:
Six months had passed since Naruto had plunged deep into the hidden library beneath the land of whirlpool, buried in his training and growing in ways he hadn't anticipated. His clones had scoured the world for knowledge and experience, his mind growing sharper, his body stronger. He'd learned more about seals, jutsu, and chakra control, but more than that, he'd learned the importance of balance—of mental and physical strength together.
The air was thick with humidity and the scent of saltwater asZabuzaandHakumade their way back to the hidden spot where the entrance to the library was buried beneath the ground. They had traveled for hours to bring him the promised food supplies for the next six months—meat, fish, rice, and dried fruits—all neatly packed and secured in scrolls.
Zabuza huffed as he adjusted the large bundle on his back, "That brat better appreciate this. The things we do for him..."
Haku glanced at him with a light smile. "He will. He's been alone in that library for months. He'll be glad to see us."
The two of them stopped in front of the area where Naruto had last disappeared into the ground. They stood there, unsure of how to reach him.
"I wish he'd at least left some way to contact him..." Haku said quietly.
Suddenly, there was a soft rumble under their feet. Both turned, and before they could say anything, Naruto emerged from the earth like a ghost, his presence almost ethereal as he stepped up from the ground, looking as calm and composed as ever.
"I was waiting for you guys," Naruto said, a small smile tugging at his lips.
Haku's eyes lit up, and without a word, she rushed forward, flinging herself into his arms. She hadn't realized just how much she missed him until that moment. All of the longing, the worry, and the quiet ache of the past six months poured into that single embrace. It felt like everything was finallyrightagain.
Naruto, a little stunned by the sudden closeness, hesitated for a moment but then wrapped his arms around her, pulling her in gently. It was the kind of embrace that spoke volumes, one that transcended words.
Zabuza stood behind them, his arms crossed, a sly grin stretching across his face. "Well, well, look at you two. It's like you've never been apart for more than a day."
Haku's face flushed a deep red as she reluctantly pulled away from Naruto, her eyes not meeting his. She felt embarrassed but couldn't hide the warmth in her chest. Naruto, too, had a faint blush on his face, and his usual cocky demeanor seemed absent for a moment as he stood there, processing what had just happened.
Zabuza chuckled loudly, clutching his stomach as he watched them, clearly enjoying their awkwardness. "You two lovebirds are cute. Should I get a fan?"
Haku shot him an irritated glare while Naruto just scratched his head sheepishly. "Ugh,Zabuza..." He shook his head but couldn't suppress a smile. Despite the teasing, he appreciated the familiar banter.
Zabuza finally stopped laughing and cleared his throat. "Anyway, here's the promised food."
Naruto nodded, taking the bundle from him. "Thanks, Zabuza. I'll make sure to store it properly."
"Don't mention it," Zabuza said gruffly, rubbing the back of his head. "But now that the serious stuff's out of the way, I assume you're done holed up in that library, right? You're not going to disappear again for another six months, are you?"
Naruto's eyes flickered toward the ground for a brief moment before meeting Zabuza's gaze. "I... I can't promise that. But, yeah, I'll spend some time with you guys today."
Zabuza grinned. "That's what I like to hear. We'll make sure you get out of that hole for a while."
And so, the day was spent with Zabuza and Haku. They sat by the campfire, sharing stories, eating, and laughing, enjoying the rare moments of camaraderie. It wasn't often they had the chance to just relax, and Naruto found himself feeling a peace he hadn't realized he'd been missing. He could laugh, joke, and feel...normalfor the first time in months.
The next morning, Naruto stood by the edge of the small camp, the food packed away and ready to be stored. Haku and Zabuza were preparing to leave, and Naruto felt that familiar tug of responsibility calling him back to the library. It wasn't a question of whether he wanted to go—it was a matter of what he needed to learn next.
As he walked toward the entrance of the underground library, he turned around for one last look at his companions.
That's whenHakuapproached him, her eyes shy. She seemed hesitant, but she walked up to him with quiet determination.
Before Naruto could say anything, she leaned up on her toes and quickly pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. She pulled away, her face beet-red with embarrassment.
"I... I missed you," she murmured, then spun on her heels and sprinted off, disappearing into the distance before Naruto could even process what had just happened.
Naruto stood frozen in place, his hand slowly reaching up to touch the spot where she'd kissed him. His whiskers tingled, and his heart thumped loudly in his chest. The world around him seemed to blur, and for a few moments, everything felt surreal.
Zabuza, who had been quietly observing the exchange from a distance, couldn't help but let out a low chuckle. "Well, well, it looks like the brat's got himself arealfan club. I can't believe it. I should charge for tickets to watch this romance unfold."
Naruto, still in shock, slowly turned his head to look at Zabuza, who was holding his stomach in laughter. He opened his mouth to respond, but no words came out. Instead, he muttered, "Wha...What just happened?"
Zabuza, wiping his eyes, snickered, "You just got kissed, brat. You gonna act like you didn't enjoy it?"
Naruto's face turned crimson as he stammered, "I—I don't know what to—!"
Zabuza clapped him on the back hard enough to almost knock him over. "It's fine, kid. It's called 'being human.' You'll get used to it. Just don't go forgetting toactuallytalk to her sometime soon, alright? You might regret it later."
Naruto nodded dumbly, still too flustered to speak. He glanced in the direction where Haku had disappeared, a smile tugging at his lips. A quiet moment passed before he finally spoke again.
"Thanks, Zabuza... for everything."
Zabuza grunted, his usual tough guy exterior back in place. "Just don't go making this all sentimental, brat. We've still got work to do, yeah?"
Naruto chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Right. Work first. Later, we'll figure out all the rest."
With that, Naruto turned and headed back to the library, but not before feeling a warmth spread through him—something new, something different. Somethinggood.
Sometime Later:
Naruto's POV:
I had been training nonstop for two months now. Clones practicing chakra control, others sparring, some working on water and wind manipulation, and me? I'd been obsessed with seals.
Level 1 seals — done. Mastered. I could create explosion tags in my sleep, layer storage scrolls perfectly, conceal chakra signatures with decent precision. But now... I was stuck.
There wasnothingabout Level 2. No books, no scrolls, no hints. Just a giant wall of silence.
Tch...I gritted my teeth, pacing between the columns of the ancient library, lit by soft blue glowstones embedded into the walls. "There's gotta be more... this can't be it."
I made three clones instantly. "Fan out. Search every damn inch. Tear up the ground if you have to."
"On it," they said in unison, vanishing into rows of scrolls and hidden nooks.
After nearly an hour, one of them called out, "Found something!"
I rushed over, heart thumping. There it was. A seal etched subtly into the floor, blending perfectly with the ancient tile. My eyes widened.This... this wasn't here before... no—no, I just couldn't see it.
Now, with my level 1 mastery, the seal's structure made sense. It was complex, layered. A challenge.
I knelt and took a deep breath, channeling chakra into my fingers as I whispered, "Time to see what secrets you've been hiding."
I started unweaving the formula, tracing the contours of the seal. A wrong move could blow half this place up. My fingers trembled, not from fear, but fromexcitement. After minutes of careful work, the seal shimmered — then snapped open like a puzzle piece falling into place.
The floor ahead of me trembled. Slowly, a hidden passage emerged — smooth, untouched by time. A new chamber. A second section of the Uzumaki library.
"...I did it," I muttered, stepping into the unknown.
The second chamber wasmassive. Shelves were carved into the walls, spiraling upward like coils. The energy here washeavier, older, but not oppressive — more like a whisper in my blood.
Scrolls the size of my body stood along the central row, dust-covered but untouched by decay. I reached out to one, brushing the surface gently. My fingers tingled.
"What... are these?" I whispered, awed.
Clones dispersed again while I walked between the massive scrolls, feeling their weight even without opening them. They weren't just big — they wereimportant.
I found a smaller scroll tucked in a separate alcove — a pedestal held it like it was a relic. It wasn't locked. I reached for it — and the moment my hand touched it, my chakra waspulled.
"Agh!" I staggered back as a searing flash shot through my mind.
The world twisted.
Suddenly, I was somewhere else — a memory. I wasn'tme, but I was watching... observing.
Two figures stood inside the same library — a man with long red hair tied back into a thick braid, and a younger boy, maybe a few years older than I was now. Both Uzumaki.
"Listen well," the older one said, his voice calm, wise. "These are the Three Contracts. Ancient summons passed down through our bloodline."
He gestured toward the scrolls — the ones I had just seen.
"Thefirst—Dragons. Powerful. Proud. But only allowed to be signed by the elders of the Uzumaki clan. Those who've carried the burden of leadership for decades."
He moved to the next.
"Thesecond—Hawks. Swifter than any blade, deadlier than any kunai. Only clan heads may sign this one. A pact of vision and speed."
Then he stopped at the third scroll. The smallest.
"And thethird...Foxes. Not the Kyuubi," he added with a grin. "But tricksters. Fighters. Loyal companions. The fox summon is for those of us who walk the battlefield as shinobi."
The student looked up. "So... I can only sign the fox contract?"
The master nodded. "Yes. It is not a lesser contract, boy. Many underestimate the foxes. But those who earn their loyalty... they become legends."
The student stepped forward. "Then I'll sign it."
The master smiled and laid the scroll open. "Your blood, your will, and your name."
The boy cut his thumb, scrawled his name, and the scroll glowed faintly.
"Now, try summoning."
The boy formed the seals the master showed him:Boar Dog Bird Monkey Ram.
Then, slamming his hand to the ground: "Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
Smoke exploded in front of them.
From the mist emerged a creature the size of a bear — crimson fur, multiple tails swaying behind him, eyes gleaming with intelligence and trickery.
"You dare summon me, brat?" the fox growled. "I don'tfeelyour worth."
"I want to prove myself," the boy said, standing his ground.
The fox's grin widened. "Then let's see how much pain you can take."
The memory started to blur as they began sparring — the fox moving fast, fierce, testing every inch of the boy's spirit.
And then, just like that... I was back.
I gasped, stumbling backward, sweating. My heart was racing. I clutched my chest, my chakra still pulsing from the tug.
"That... that was real," I whispered. "That was a memory... passed down through the seal."
I looked at the scrolls again. One of them glowed faintly now — the fox contract.
I walked over slowly, reverently. "So... I can summon them."
I stared at the scroll. My bloodline... it wasn't just about the past. It was about rebuilding what we lost.
I pulled out a kunai and whispered, "For the Uzumaki."
A small cut, a few seals... and with a deep breath, I started writing my name on the scroll.
Third Person POV:
Naruto stood in the quiet chamber of the Uzumaki library, surrounded by ancient scrolls and lingering chakra echoes of the past. The massive summoning scrolls lay before him like slumbering giants, each pulsing faintly with power.
He moved to theDragon Summoning Scrollfirst, his fingers brushing against the thick, sealed edge. The moment his chakra touched it, a voice boomed in his mind:
"You are not worthy."
Naruto stumbled back, clutching his head. The same thing happened when he tried theHawk Summoning Scroll—or as the memory named it, theHopeSummoning Scroll. Again, the scroll rejected him, the words echoing coldly in his mind.
"Tch... figures," Naruto muttered, standing up and dusting off his pants. "Not strong enough for them yet, huh?"
He sighed, his gaze shifting to the smaller scroll glowing with a faint orange hue. TheFox Summoning Contract.
"This one... this one's different," he whispered, stepping toward it.
As his hand touched the seal, he felt a soft warmth surge through his palm. The scroll unfurled without resistance, as if recognizing his bloodline.
He bit his thumb lightly, just enough to draw blood, and then signed his name with the same reverence he had seen in the memory.
Naruto Uzumaki.
Then, remembering the hand signs clearly from the vision:
Boar Dog Bird Monkey Ram
He slammed his hand into the ground.
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
Smoke. Silence.
"...Nothing?" he frowned, disappointed. "Was I imagining the hand signs wrong?" He tried again.
Still nothing.
"Third time's the charm," Naruto gritted his teeth, focusing more chakra than before.
"Kuchiyose no Jutsu!"
A violent pull nearly knocked him off his feet as his chakrarushedout of him. A massive cloud of smoke exploded in the chamber, shaking the walls. Scrolls rattled. Dust lifted.
A deep, thunderous voice echoed from within the smoke.
"Who dares summon me... after so long?"
The smoke began to clear, revealing a toweringfox—reddish-gold fur that shimmered with chakra threads, eyes sharp as blades and just as dangerous. He stood taller than the room should allow, but somehow the space bent to accommodate him.
Naruto's eyes widened. "Y-You're..."
The fox squinted down at him. "A child? No... wait—" he sniffed the air, then growled low. "That scent... Uzumaki."
Naruto stepped forward cautiously. "Yeah. I'm Naruto Uzumaki. I found the lost contract."
The fox blinked. "...Naruto? I haven't heard that name in... thirty? No—maybe forty years. Time blends when you're unsummoned."
He tilted his head. "I thought all of you weredead. Slaughtered. The contracts abandoned."
Naruto's fists clenched slightly. "I thought the same. I didn't even know about my clan until a year ago."
He told him everything. From the moment he left Konoha, to meeting Zabuza and Haku, to finding the Uzumaki ruins and being dragged into the memories of the clan's last stand. About the ancient seal armor. The secret library. The training. Everything.
The fox remained silent the entire time, his expression unreadable.
When Naruto finished, his voice soft, he said, "I'm going to bring the Uzumaki name back. Stronger than ever. But I can't do it alone."
A low rumble vibrated through the room. It took Naruto a second to realize—it was achuckle.
"You've got guts, brat," the fox said, baring sharp teeth in a grin. "The last time i was summoned was during the Second Great Ninja War. they were who died but died with honor and for that, they have my respect. Let's see if you can, too."
He crouched slightly, his tails flicking lazily. "I amReikon, Chief of the Fox Summons. You want my power? Then earn it."
Naruto's eyes lit with determination. "Gladly."
Reikon nodded, amused. "Good. I'll test you soon. For now, our bond is forged. Call upon me when you need real teeth on the battlefield."
He leaned in close, his eyes glowing. "And one more thing, Naruto Uzumaki — the foxes remember. We remember what was done to your people. We'll help youavengethem."
With that, Reikon vanished in a swirl of smoke, leaving behind only echoes and an electrifying silence.
Naruto stood there, panting slightly.
"...He's on my side," Naruto whispered, a smile forming. "I'm not alone anymore."
