(11 PM)
Marty and Ally eventually guided Doc to the location of the Delorean, which was hidden behind the Lyon Estates sign under some shrubs, just where they had left it.
Before leaving the car, they made sure to take some flashlights with them. "The engine had a problem. This is where we stashed it," Marty explained as he hurried towards the Delorean. Doc quickly got out of the car and joined the twins as they revealed the futuristic vehicle.
Doc was surprised when he laid eyes on the time machine. "A-After I fell off my toilet, I drew this," Doc explained, showing them a blueprint of the flux capacitor. Marty and Ally exchanged glances before examining the blueprint. "The flux capacitor," Ally whispered, shining her flashlight on the paper.
Marty unlocked the door on the passenger side while Ally activated the time modules, causing the flux capacitor to illuminate. The pair glanced at a surprised Doc, whose eyes sparkled with excitement upon witnessing his creation in action. "It works!" he cheered, dropping to his knees beside the car. "Haha! It works!"
He faced the two teenagers and seized the front of their shirts. "I've finally created something that actually works!" he declared. "You can bet your ass it works," Marty muttered quietly. They couldn't leave the Delorean out here for anyone to find. "We need to take this back to my lab. We have to get you two home!" he exclaimed, still holding onto them.
(Back at Doc's Lab)
Marty exclaimed, "Here we go, Doc!" as he connected the video camcorder to Doc's television. The group successfully returned to the lab with the Delorean in tow. They agreed to watch the footage Marty had captured in 1985, moments before the Libyans attacked.
The television screen flickers briefly before displaying the image. Doc crouched in front of the TV upon seeing his future self on the screen. "Hey, that's me! Check it out! I'm an old man! Phew, I've still got my hair! But what's with this outfit?" Doc inquired, gesturing at the screen.
Ally pointed at the screen and informed the scientist, "This is a radiation suit, Doc." The scientist, astonished, speculated, "Radiation suit? Probably from all the nuclear wars." He stood up and leaned on the TV, marveling, "This... is truly amazing. A portable television studio," as he examined the camcorder, "No wonder your president has to be an actor, he's gotta look good on television,"
Marty pointed at the TV screen and exclaimed, "Oh, wait, here's the part, Doc," Future Doc on the video mentioned, "This sucker's electrical. I require 1.21 gigawatts to make it work." Doc immediately turned to Marty and asked, "What did I just say?" He was completely engrossed in the TV screen.
Marty played the tape again so they could listen to that part once more. When Doc heard that part again, he leaped back in shock. "1.21 gigawatts!" he shouted, moving away from the TV and into the garage door. "1.21 gigawatts! Great Scott!" he shouted as he ran out of the garage.
Marty and Ally didn't understand why Doc reacted that way, so they decided to follow him. "What? What the hell's a gigawatt?!" Marty yelled, confused about why Doc was so worked up about it.
Doc sat in his comfy chair at home, pondering the situation. "How could I have been so careless? 1.21 gigawatts of power!" he thought out loud, looking at a photo of Thomas Edison. "Tom, how do I get that much power? Is it even possible?!"
Then, Marty and Ally came inside the house. "Doc, look, all we need is a little plutonium and we're good!" Marty said. Ally knew that getting plutonium was next to none. Especially in the fifties.
"Oh! I'm sure you guys might have found it in 1985, but in 1955, it's pretty tough to come by! Marty! I apologize, but you and Ally are stuck here!" Doc shouted as he got up, put the picture of Thomas Edison on the fireplace mantel, and then sat back down.
Marty and Ally were devastated when they received the news. "Doc, this can't be happening! We have lives back in 1985! I got a girl!" Marty exclaimed, plopping down on the coffee table. "And I have a boyfriend, Doc! We have a band," Ally chimed in, standing beside Marty.
Doc inquired about their characteristics, leaning in to listen. "Doc, my girl is stunning. She's head over heels for me. Look at this note she gave me, Doc. It says everything," Marty revealed, showing the clocktower flier with Jennifier's number on the back. "He's incredibly good-looking, Doc. Look, Doc, you're our only chance to return to 1985," Ally added.
Ally looked at the scientist while Marty turned around. "What did you say?" Marty inquired. "A bolt of lightning! Unfortunately, you never know when or where it will hit!" Doc replied.
Ally hurried to Marty and checked the flier's front. They noticed the clock tower would be hit by lightning in five days. "Now we know," Marty told Doc, showing him the paper.
Doc grabbed the paper from Marty and read it carefully. Suddenly, he got really excited and stood up quickly. "This is it! The flier says a lightning bolt will hit the clocktower at 10:05 pm next Saturday night!" Doc exclaimed as he went over to the twins.
The twins sat on the chair as Doc talked to them, "If we could harness this lightning to power the flux capacitor, it might work! Next Saturday, we're sending you two back to the future!"
Marty and Ally jumped out of their seats and ran over to Doc, happy to hear that they had a solid plan to return to 1985. "Yes! Saturday works! Saturday works! We can spend a whole week in 1955!" Marty exclaimed, giving Doc a friendly pat on the shoulder.
"Yeah, we can hang out! Maybe you can show us around town-" Ally exclaimed but she was ultimately cut off. "Hold on! That's completely out of the question! You two can't talk to anyone or see anyone because if you do, it could have serious repercussions of future events! Do you two understand?" Doc exclaimed out, looking directly at both of them.
"Now you tell us…" Ally grumbled, her eyes rolling as she spoke. "Sure," Marty replied, nodding. "So, have you guys talked to anyone else today besides me?" Doc questioned, giving them a stern look.
Ally's hands balled into fists as she let out an anxious sigh. Marty scratched the back of his neck and shifted his gaze away from the scientist. "We could have accidentally run into our parents," he mentioned.
Doc's eyes widened as Marty made the statement, realizing the severity of the situation. "Great Scott! Show me that picture of your brother!" he said eagerly, reaching out his hand. Marty handed over the photo, and Doc accepted it with both hands. "Just as I suspected! This confirms my hypothesis, take a look at your brother!" Doc said, examining the picture under the light of the desk lamp.
Marty and Ally examined the photo, noticing that David's head was missing. "His head's missing," Marty exclaimed in disbelief. "It's like it's been erased," Ally added, sounding surprised. "Erased from existence..." Doc said grimly, glancing at the twins. Time was running out.
