Meeting Akechi
March 21, 8:11 AM, J & Co Law Offices
J wakes up in her office and comes down dressed and streatching.
"Good morning!" Kairi said out loud looking determined.
"Ah, morning, Kairin." J said to Jaden's cousin.
"Miss. J! Miss. J! Come on! Let's hurry and go see Mr. Akechi!" Kairi told her.
"We have to wait a bit, Kairin." J tells her and explains "Visiting hours don't start until 9 AM, so…"
"Oh, I see." Kairi said looking down sadly "Ah, Master Jaden! If only…If only I had gone with you…"
'Poor Kairin…She's been like this since last night…' J thinks looking at Kairi sadly. 'We managed to get home somehow, yesterday evening…Thanks to Detective N gently holding her by the hand and leading her here…But by the looks of it, I don't think Kairin got any sleep at all last night.'
"Miss. J! Master Jaden…He's alright, right?!" Kairi asked her.
"Yeah, he's alright." J said nodding "Either way, I'm going to save him. You can trust me on that."
"Please…Please…Help him…" Kairi begged looking down.
'I'm only able to stay this calm and collected…Because Kairin is doing the crying for the both of us…' J thinks worried.
"Um…I have a thought…" Kairi said thinking.
"Huh?" J lets out looking at her.
"You're going to represent Mr. Akechi…aren't you?" Kairin asked J.
"Yeah. I don't really seem to have a choice." J said with a sigh.
"Um, but what if…What if he….is the real murderer?" Kairi asked sadly "What would you do then, Miss. J…?" J remains silent "Would you fight to get a not guilty for a murderer to save Master Jaden…?"
"Kairin…" J said unsure how to answer that so said "Let's talk to Mr. Akechi first, okay? …We can think all the bad things we want, but it doesn't change a thing."
"Y-Yeah, you're right…" Kairi said nodding sadly "I'm, sorry. I…I can't stop thinking about it…"
"Kairin…You're really worried about Jaden, aren't you?" J asked her, kneeling down to be at her level.
"I…I don't have anyone else left in this world." Kairi said sadly.
"What do you mean…?" J asked confused.
"My family's all gone…" Kairi explained.
'…Her family…' J thinks on it.
"My mother…She left my father and the village behind and went away." Kairi explained.
"I'm sorry…" J said looking down.
"And….my father…" Kairi continued looking down. "He did that thing…all for me…" J remains silent listening "Master Jaden…He's like a brother to me…He is all I have left in this world…"
J nods and comforts her until it was time to go to the detention center.
March 21, 8:57 AM, Detention Center, Visitor's Room
As J and Kairi move into the visitor's room J in her mind palace wrote and thinks 'We couldn't wait for visiting hours to start, so Kairin and I cam down here early…To visit one White Dino Ranger, charge with the murder of Kamen Rider Hibiki…'
Goro Akechi was brought in to be opposite, his fearched matched his profile and he was wearing a tan peacoat with black buttons, striped black and white tie, black pants, black gloves and black loafers. He sits down and looks at J smiling
"G-Good morning. How are you today?" J said to Akechi who remains quiet "I know this situation might be a little tough for you…" Akechi remains quiet "Um…We're…"
"Oh, my apologies…" Akechi finally speaks up to J's confusion "I already signed up…"
"E-Excuse me…?" J asked confused.
"I already have life insurance." Akechi explained "I signed up a long time ago cause my job is, you know…"
J processes that then said "Oh! No, no, no…We're not insurance salespeople!"
"Really…?" Akechi said surprised. "I really don't need that right now either." J again is confused "Fire extinguishers, I mean, this building isn't my house, so…"
"No, no, no….We're not here to sell you fire extinguishers either!" J said sighing. "I'm a lawyer. My name is Serial Designation J."
"A lawyer…?" Akechi said to that he then lifts his sleeve to reveal a special watch that doubles as a phone and types in it "Hold on a sec. I'm going to ask my manager, okay?" He talks on it quietly, enough that J can't hear what is being said.
"The White Dino Ranger sure is a strange person, isn't he?" Kairi said in surprise.
'I think 'strange' is an understatement.' J thinks to that.
"Sorry about that." Akechi said after finishing his call and smiles "You're just in time."
"Huh?!" J lets out surprised.
"You're a lawyer drone, right?" Akechi asked. "My manager's looking for a good one right now, so how about it?"
"M-Miss. J! This is our chance!" Kairi tells her.
'I have to make him let me take his case! I have to!' J thinks. She then said "Sorry to intrude, but I would like to ask you a few personal questions."
"Um, that's okay, but so you know, my autobiography's coming out soon, so…" Akechi points out "If I say stuff without the publisher's approval, then I'm going to be in real hot water…" He then types into his watch phone "How on a sec. I'm going to ask my publisher, okay?" He talks quietly for a moment on it.
"Mr. Akechi is so lucky! He has so many people he can talk to." Kairi said smiling.
'Umm…I don't know if he actually has anyone, he can really talk to…' J thinks on that.
"Sorry about that." Akechi getting off the watch phone and sighs "Like I thought, the publisher said it'd be 'real bad' if I said anything, my apologies."
'Does he have a mind of his own?!' J thinks at that she then asked "Mr. Akechi, I would like to ask you about the murder…"
"Oh, are you covering this for a tabloid as a side job, then?" Akechi asked. "Um….Well, if you want my statement on this, you should ask through my staff…"
"No, no, no…I'm not asking on behalf of a tabloid…" J said sighing.
Akechi gets on his watch phone and said "Hold on a sec. I'm going to ask the president of the studio, okay?" He talks on his watch phone quietly.
"Is he alright, Miss. J…?" Kairi asked concerned.
'If we're talking about Mr. Akechi's brain here, I wouldn't put my money on it.' J thinks shaking her head.
"Sorry about that." Akechi said getting off the phone. "The studio president said, 'Even Cyber Dino Volcano itself knows that I'm not the murderer!'"
"Um, Miss. J? What's 'Cyber Dino Volcano'…?" Kairi asked confused.
"It's a mountain in the Network Kingdom; the city the White Dino Ranger protects." J explained to her. She then pulls out the Press Conference Ticket and presents it to Akechi.
Akechi looks confused and asked, "What's that?"
"It's a ticket for the press conference." J explained. "You were going to give one after winning the Grand Prix, right?"
"Huh? Me?" Akechi said looking more confused.
"Yes. While you were in costume, no less." J added nodding.
"Um, I never heard anything like that. I only heard about the stage show." Akechi points out. "I always leave that kind of stuff to my manager."
'He didn't know…? That's odd…' J thinks on that. She then presents Akechi the Radio Tranceiver.
"…. Miss. J? What are you going to do with that?" Kairi asked surprised.
"I don't know yet, but I figured I could at least show it to him…" J tells her.
"Is that a transceiver?" Akechi said seeing it "Hey, it looks like a real nice one, too."
"I got it as a 'present' from someone." J tells him.
"Hmm? Interesting." Akechi said nodding.
"I've also been instructed to take your case." J added to that.
"Is that what you heard from the transceiver?" Akechi asked.
"Yes." J said nodding.
"That's absolutely terrible!" Akechi said shaking his head "Don't let some disembodied voice boss you around!"
'This coming from a man with a cell phone on his wrist…' J thinks deadpanned.
"…Well, my apologies but I think it's about time for me to get going." Akechi said smiling.
"Please wait! …I really need to take your case!" J tells him.
"There's always other people in need of a lawyer, right?" Akechi said smiling "Want me to introduce you to a few?"
"Please! Please let Miss. J represent you!" Kairi begged.
"My, oh my. Lawyers these days. Now you people use kids to pull in clients, too?" Akechi asked as he begins to get up from his seat.
"If you don't take me as your lawyer, then Deathstroke is going to…!" J called out.
Akechi then stopped and looked back and asked "Wait…What did you just say?"
"'Deathstroke'…" J told him.
"D-Deathstroke?!" Akechi said shocked and sits back in the seat and thinks.
'…What's he doing? He looks like he's mulling something over…' J thinks.
Akechi thinks then smiles said "Alright, then. I accept your terms."
"Huh?" J lets out.
"I'll let you represent me in court." Akechi explained.
"W-We did it!" Kairi said, "We did it, Miss J!"
"Uh, yeah…" J said nodding but thinks 'I don't feel any better for it…And he doesn't look too, happy either…'
"Go ahead, ask me anything. I'll help out as much as I can…" Akechi said with a smile. "Wow, I thank my lucky stars that people know my name."
"Well, you're quite the hero, and you're in the national spotlight." J said with a nod.
"I didn't know who he is…Does that mean I'm not a good citizen…?" Kairi asked looking down sad.
"Ah, it's really great to be the White Dino Ranger." Akechi said with a smile "Wow, lately, I just keep on getting more and more popular."
'True enough…'The White Dino Ranger' is very popular among high schoolers and secretaries right now.' J thinks nodding. 'I guess Mr. Akechi has a way of catching the eyes of women…'
"Do you know my motto?" Akechi asked then said "'Refreshing like a spring breeze.' That's what I am."
"A spring breeze…" Kairi said amazed.
"That's why this kind of scandal is disastrous, sadly." Akechi said sighing. "I mean, even if I get out of here tomorrow, it's still going to look bad."
'But everyone loses a good scandal…' J thinks. She then asked "Can you tell me about your activities last night?"
"After I got the award, I took a break and went back to my room." Akechi said as he recounts "I had that post-ceremony stage show to do. So, I was in my White Dino Ranger costume."
"And you were alone the entire time?" J asked him.
"My manager was running around being busy, so yeah." Akechi said nodding.
"Because of the press conference you were supposed to hold after the show?" J asked nodding.
"I already told you. I have no idea about any press conference, okay?" Akechi told her.
'That's strange…I thought the White Dino Ranger was going to confess something…' J thinks confused on that.
"Anyway, when I was leaving my room, that's when I noticed it was kind of noisy…" Akechi continues to explain.
"Mr. Alejandro was already dead at that time…?" J asked thinking.
"Yeah, that's what I gathered anyway from my manager." Akechi said nodding.
'I'm beginning to gather that this guy can't do a thing on his own…' J thinks sweat dropping.
"And that's when the detective drone showed up." Akechi added nodding. "He searched me…And then, out of the blue, he arrested me."
"About you and the victim, Mr. Alejandro, what sort of…" J began to ask.
"That's got nothing to do with anything, I'm afraid." Akechi said cutting her off. "Man, with that face of his, you can't even tell he's the same age as me. And he wanted to try to make a 'Kamen Rider Hibiki' movie, even though we all know it'd fail."
"The White Dino Ranger still won in the end, right?" J asked.
"Yeah. I took the Grand Prix by storm." Akechi said smiling. "So why would I, the winner, have any reason to kill the guy anyway? Geez, you'd think it'd be the other way around, you know?"
"Um…Do you know why you were arrested?" J asked him.
"I guess maybe my full body search went badly." Akechi said thinking.
"Did they find something on you?" J asked.
"They found a button from the Kamen Rider Hibiki costume." Akechi tells her.
"A button…?" J asked surprised.
"I don't get it either." Akechi said shrugging "It was caught in the belt of my ranger costume."
"Aaah!" Kairi lets out surprised
"I really think someone planted it there thought. I'm serious." Akechi said sighing.
'I wonder if that's what really happened…?' J thinks she then looks at Akechi '…I guess this is about all I'm going to get out of him…'
"Miss. J?" Kairi asked.
"Yeah?" J looks at her.
"Let's ask one last thing." Kairi told her. "Let's test Mr. Akechi to see if he really is innocent or not…"
"W-We can do that…?" J asked surprised.
"Yes." Kairi said nodding and pulls out J's Keychains from her pocket and points to the Logic Solver Keychain "If you use this…"
'Jaden's Logic Solver Keychain!' J thinks getting it.
"He won't be able to hide any secrets from you, Miss. J." Kairi explained. "I'm sure of it."
'I get it…!' J said taking them looking at both Logic Solver and Toa Rangers and looks up to Akechi and said "…Mr. Akechi, I'd like to ask you one more question. Please answer me honestly."
"What is it?" Akechi asked smiling.
"Did you kill Mr. Alejandro?" J asked him. Akechi was surprised and about to go on his watch phone but J stops him and said "Please put the phone away and answer this question yourself."
"Alright." Akechi said nodding "Just so we're clear, I didn't kill anyone, and that includes Alejandro, okay?" J waits but doesn't see any Psyche-Locks appear nor any reaction from the Logic Solver keychain.
"Well, Miss. J?" Kairi asked.
"Nothing." J tells her "Not a chain or lock in sight."
"Which means…it's alright to trust him." Kairi said smiling.
'Yeah, it does appear that way.' J thinks not really sure herself if that was fully the case 'Well, at least I can breathe a sign of relief knowing my client is innocent.'
"Um…The trials tomorrow, right?" Akechi asked and smiles "I'm counting on you."
J and Kairi nod and stand to make their leave heading back to the office.
Well J knows she can trust Akechi but is that true. Next time he goes to fully begin investigating the case.
