(September 2, 1885)
(6:00 PM)
It was dark by the time Marty had woke up. He opened his blue eyes and saw somebody standing over him with a washrag. He was still groggy so he couldn't tell who was in front of him.
"Mom? Is that you?" he asked with a groan. The person, a woman, answered in an Irish accent, "There, there now. You've been asleep for nearly 6 hours now," Marty didn't understand why his mom had an Irish accent. He blamed it on him just waking up.
He let his head fall back against the pillow and he closed his eyes again. "God... I had a... horrible nightmare. Ally and I were in a western... we were in a Western, being chased by Indians, and a bear," Marty muttered under his breath.
"Well, you're safe now. Here now at the McFly Farm," the woman replied, setting the washrag down on a side table.
Marty's eyes opened suddenly and he exclaimed, 'McFly Farm?" He sits up with a start just as the lights get turned on, illuminating the entire room. The woman sitting in front of him looked just like their mother. He sat in a log cabin.
The woman sat in a chair, dressed in 1800's women's clothing. "You're my... my..." he started but got a better look at the woman, he didn't know which member of his and Ally's family this was, "Who are you?"
"The name's McFly. Maggie McFly," she introduced, smoothing down her dress. Marty was flustered about this and muttered, "M-McFly. Maggie McFly," "That's Mrs. McFly, and don't you be forgettin' the misses! And what might your name be sir?" Maggie said sternly.
Marty began to answer, "Well, it's Ma-" He felt his chest and glanced down at his clothes, correcting himself, "Eastwood? Clint Eastwood," Not the best choice for a fake name, but what could he do? It was better than nothing. He recalls the conversation between him, his sister, and Doc back in 1955.
Maggie nodded and stood up, "Well, you've hit your head, Mr. Eastwood. Not too serious but you're lucky Seamus found you and Annie was with you,"
"Seamus?" Marty asked, nearly asking who Annie was. But he figured that 'Annie' was Ally. "Me husband," Maggie responded. Then there was the sound of a baby crying from the other room.
"Now if you'll excuse me, Mr. Eastwood, while I attend to William," Maggie said, walking into the other room. Marty gets out of the bed, checking to see if he was still wearing pants. Since the first time in 1955 didn't go so well.
He left the bedroom and saw Ally in the living room. He went over to her and she hugged her brother quickly around his neck. "Easy, Ally. I'm fine," Marty whispered, hugging his sister back.
She lets go of him and said in a whisper, "Marty, how many times are you gonna scare me like that?" "It wasn't my fault that I hit my head," Marty defended, "And it's Clint Eastwood to you," For a moment, Ally was confused until Marty gave her a wink, indicating that he was going by that.
"What're you going by as?" Marty asked. "Annie Oakley, your sister," she said with a grin, "I'll thank you for the idea," Marty grinned at her, remembering how he jokingly called her that. It suited her.
The siblings into the living room and saw Maggie holding a baby boy in her arms, who was cooing. "That's Wiliam?" Marty asked.
Maggie nodded and replied, "Aye, the first McFly to be born in America," She looked down at the baby and smiled sweetly at him, "Ahh, it's okay Will. This is Mr. Clint Eastwood and Ms. Annie Oakley are here visitin' us," The baby stops crying and looks at the siblings lovingly.
"He already likes you, Mr. Eastwood and Ms. Oakley," Maggie said, looking at them. Then, Seamus came through the door with a dead deer in his right hand and a rifle in the other. "Maggie, I got supper," he said, holding the deer up.
Dinner was prepared and the four individuals sat down to eat. Ally sat down on Marty's right, her hat was on the side table. "I'm not the one to pry into another's private affairs but how did you two come all this way without a horse, boots, or a hat?" Seamus asked Ally.
Ally looked at her brother for a moment, who looked back at her. "Um... our horses got spooked by a snake," she replied, picking at her food.
"A bear took my boots and I forgot my hat," Marty added. He didn't have one when they came here, so it wasn't entirely a lie.
Maggie perked up at this and she asked, "How could you forget a thing such as your hat?" "Easy, Mrs. McFly, he's more of a... 'leaps before he looks' type of guy," Ally said with a smirk.
Marty shot his sister a glare, but he knew it was true. He couldn't hate on his sister for pointing out a true fact about him.
"I'll tell you what I'll do. I'll help both of ya find your blacksmith friend. You two can stay the night in the barn. Tomorrow, I'll take you as far as the railroad tracks. You can follow them straight into town. I'll give Mr. Eastwood a hat as I see Ms. Oakley already has one," Seamus responded.
Maggie then slammed a plate down with an aggravated sigh and did the cross symbol over her chest, showing she was Catholic. Seamus gets up from the table and brought his son to the dinner table.
"I'm pretty sure you two will find the barn comfortable. I've never had any complaints from the pigs," Seamus added. Maggie fast walked over to her husband. "Seamus, a word with you," she said in a whisper.
"Aye," he said, handing William over to Marty, "Could you both look after him for a moment?" Marty took the baby into his arms while Maggie and Seamus walked out of the room.
Ally smiled at the baby and shook his tiny hand. She'd been good with kids just like her brother. They were unaware that Maggie and Seamus were having a conversation in the other room about taking the siblings in for the night.
"You sure you're not after bringing a curse on this house, taking them in like that. They are such a strange young man and woman," Maggie asked, keeping her voice low.
"Aye, but I've got a feelin' about them, Maggie. It's the right thing to do. It's important. Look at how the baby is taken to Clint and Annie. Little Will never takes to strangers. It's almost as if... they're connected to us," Seamus denied.
Meanwhile, Marty whispered to the infant, "So you're our great-grandfather. First McFly born in America," Ally looked down at his lap along with her brother. "And he peed on you," Ally said with a quiet chortle.
"Man, this work is all yours when you have your kid," Marty whispered, shooting her a look. "Guessing Jennifer would make you take out the trash, yeah?" Ally smiled. "You know the both of us too well. That's exactly what she'd do," Marty chuckled. "Hell, yeah I do," Ally smiled.
