Fleeing Identity
Sequel to Agent Mission Undoubtable. After experiencing PTSD Moroha believes that changing her appearance would help her recover from the battle that traumatized her.
Chapter 1
Moroha turns the corner on the street where Sakura Hills is located. Although she considered going back to her old school since her mission is completed, she somehow feels that there's more to be done. She stops when she sees the school gates. "What's going on here?" She asks herself, seeing that everyone else is too focused on the scene.
She navigated through the crowd and reached the front, where an ambulance crew was loading someone onto a stretcher outside the school. "Um excuse me. What happened?" She asks someone. "Someone was attacked." One of the school faculty members answers her. Moroha turns to spot the person. It was her principal.
"Who?" Moroha asks her.
"We don't really know who that student is. She was minding her own business and then somehow, she just passed out." The principal said back calmly. They watch the ambulance drive off to the hospital.
"Are you going to keep school going?" Moroha asks hopefully. The principal doesn't seem too hopeful. "After all the chaos that this school has gone through, I think it's best to shut it down."
Ok. Moroha really didn't see this coming. "As in closing it down? What about everyone else in the system? Where are they going to go to get an education?"
"You can still go back to your old school. You've completed you task so there's no need for you to come here anymore." The principal responded with a convincing tone.
Moroha can tell that something isn't right about this place. She sighs and decides to go back home and tell her parents.
Inuyasha and Kagome are in the middle of their workout routines until Moroha comes into the basement room.
"Mom. Dad." She greets them in uncertainty.
Kagome comes up to her. "Moroha, sweetie. Why are you home? You should be in school."
Moroha nods. "I know. I arrived at the school, but there was an ambulance picking up a student from there."
Inuyasha puts the weights back on the rack, "Are you ok? You're not hurt?" He comes up to her to make sure she is not injured.
"I'm fine, Dad. It's just that we don't know who the student was when the crew put the stretcher into the ambulance." Moroha assures him
"You said that a student was being picked up by the paramedics, Any idea who that student is?" Kagome asks her this time.
Moroha shakes her head. "No. That's the weird thing. Any student that goes there knows each other one way or another. Even the principal doesn't know who that student was. All she knows that the student was a female. But that's it."
"Then she must be in a hospital." Inuyasha confirms it seriously. They know that their town only has one so it's easy to assume that the student was sent there. "You should go Moroha."
Moroha looks at him. "Are you sure, dad?" She asks nervously.
"Yes. Even though you were the one who was at the site, you should be able to pick up on the scent of the student. Do you think you can track it?"
Moroha thinks for a moment. "Yeah." She then leaves the house.
Kagome gives him a strange look.
"What?" Inuyasha asks her in confusion.
"Do you know what you just did, Inuyasha?" She said to him. "Yeah. I told her to go to the scene of the crime and try to find the student's scent. That way she could improve her tracking abilities. Not to mention, her spiritual powers should be useful as well.
Kagome groans. "No I mean that you're sending our daughter to a dangerous place where she could be the next victim of the crime at the school."
"Honestly, Kagome. The least you should do is have faith in her. Or have you forgotten about that?" Inuyasha points out.
Kagome sighs, "I know for sure she can take care of herself. But there's something that bothers me about it." She opens her smartphone to see if the school has its page updated anything new since that morning.
"Like what?" Inuyasha questions her.
"Well, this student is new to begin with. Usually, Moroha would be able to notice by scent wise. But the thing is that the only information we got from her so far is that the student was a female. They didn't say anything else about her." Kagome explains to him.
"I'm sure Moroha will tell us what she finds the student. But she cannot question her. The student is properly too shaken up to answer any of them." Inuyasha comments to her confidently.
Kagome, on the other hand, has her doubts about the situation.
Moroha arrives at the scene where the ambulance picked up the student. Her sniffs in stealth to pinpoint that one scent will be her lead. She comes to the spot where the stretcher was for a few minutes. She places her hand onto the ground to see if she could pick up on the student's soul. She closes her eyes to concentrate.
"Help me!" the student cries out in fear.
Moroha opens her eyes. "That's weird. That student sounds like me."
Feeling a hunch, she heads to the hospital to see if she could see if that student is alright to have visitors. She enters the lobby and goes to the front desk.
"Excuse me. Do you know where the student is? The one who was brought in on a stretcher this morning?" Moroha asks politely.
The female worker types in the information. "The student is in room 123. Just take that elevator." She answers back before resuming her work.
Moroha knows about the hospital since she was here when her appendix burst. But she can see that the place must've been renovated for more convenience. She gets off the elevator of the floor where the student is placed in.
She sees door number 123. She can see that the door is open. Upon entering the room, so far it's normal to see a few medical machines to keep the student always stabled. There's a curtain to give the student some privacy. Moroha silently walks in to see that the student is still in her uniform of the school.
"Who's there?" The voice asks Moroha.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to barge in. I was told that you were brought here." Moroha answers as she rubs the back of her neck in embarrassment.
"Who are you? And why do you sound like me?" The student questions Moroha. Moroha comes closer to see that the student.
"Beats me." Moroha simply answers back. The student opens the curtain, which shocks Moroha. "What are you doing here?" Moroha asks the student.
"Me? I'm you. I'm your other half of the spirit that has been traumatized by that battle." The student answers her.
"Ok, you're getting me confused here? How is it that there are two of me in the first place?" Moroha asks as she sits in the lounge chair in the patient's room.
"After that battle, you were under a trance to made you feel scared and horrified by the outcome of the transformation. When the battle was over, your conscience manifested into me. I thought that if I came to the scene of the battle, I might be able to return to you." The student answers her.
"Ok, Takahashi, you should be discharged by tonight, if you're…" A nurse enters the room. Moroha and the manifested spirit just look at her. "Um how come there are two of you? Are you two twins?"
Moroha and the spirit looked at each other. "No. I'm Moroha Takahashi. This is my spirit who has taken my appearance." Moroha stood up to confirm it.
"Oh. I wasn't aware of that possibility." The nurse said back calmly. Truth be told, Moroha doesn't know how to answer that question. Here she is, in the hospital to check to see how the student was doing. Only to find out that the student is none other than her spirit.
