With the gods preparing for the Devil to invade Heaven, Gwen and her friends felt safe and secure in her palace. One day, the group discover a new room in the palace: the library.
Cuphead was reading Adventure comic books, Mugman was reading Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, Ms. Chalice reads a book about tap-dancing, Clarence continues reading his movie script and Gwen reads the book A Farewell to Arms by Earnest Hemingway.
"Ugh! It's so quiet in here!" Cuphead complained.
"SHH!" A servant shushed him.
"Cuphead, we're having reading time. If you're done reading, you can go do something else." Gwen whispered.
"Fine." Cuphead said as he put the comic book down.
Cuphead leaves the library to go play with his toys from their trips around the world.
After reading the group join Cuphead in the main room and hang out.
"You think the gods will keep us safe from the Devil?" Mugman asked.
"Let's hope so Mugsy. They're our last hope." Clarence answered.
Gwen sighed and sat in her throne, thinking about the situation. Ms. Chalice hopped on her lap.
"Girlfriend, what's on your mind?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Sometimes I wonder what my life would've been like if I never found the magic inkwell." Gwen answered.
"Are you kidding? That should've been the best day of your life!" Ms. Chalice protested.
Gwen gave a blank stare.
"Oh… until the Devil showed up and kidnapped you." Ms. Chalice said nervously, remembering.
"Yeah. That was the night everything changed. I thought my life was over." Gwen admitted.
"But Gwen, look how it turned out. You got us, you got Clarence, you got your celestial and god element powers and finally you were turned into a goddess and given a palace of your very own." Ms. Chalice pointed out.
"True." Gwen said, still not feeling better.
Clarence and the cup brothers walked up to the throne.
"We've been under a lot of stress lately due to this upcoming war. Perhaps we all need a break." Clarence said.
"Ooh! Where are we going this time?" Cuphead asked eagerly.
"I was thinking we could hit the beaches of…" Clarence said as he pulled something out of his pocket.
He holds up a picture of the beaches of the group of islands called Cuba.
"Cuba?" Gwen asked.
"Cuba? Is that another tropical island or more?" Mugman asked.
"Yes Mugman. It's a group of islands southeast of the US." Clarence answered.
"They're famous for their cigars, salsa music and dancing, old colonial buildings, sugar plantations, rum and mojitos." Gwen added.
"Come on Gweny! Let's go!" Ms. Chalice said excitedly.
"Oh, alright. But no cigars or alcohol for you 3!" Gwen stated her conditions.
"Deal." All 3 cups answered.
Gwen tapped her ink pen, and the group teleported to the city of Havana, Cuba.
"Guys, welcome to Havana, Cuba." Gwen greeted.
"Ooh! This place looks so old." Cuphead said, looking around.
"That's because most of them were around since colonial times about 300 years ago." Clarence answered.
Just then, they hear salsa music.
"Hey guys! Look!" Ms. Chalice said and pointed.
They looked and noticed a Cuban salsa band playing lively music, drawing a crowd.
"Wow! What cool music!" Cuphead said.
They join the crowd and listen to the band playing the music. Some people started dancing the salsa. Ms. Chalice studies them and joins them dancing adding tap dancing. Everybody watched in awe as Ms. Chalice continued dancing until the song ended and she struck a finishing pose.
Everybody cheered and applauded Ms. Chalice.
"Gracias, gracias everyone!" Ms. Chalice thanked and curtsied.
"Come on, let's explore." Gwen said.
They walk away from the crowd as Gwen summoned Cerulean Bolt. They hop on and fly up above Havana. They fly over and checked out the views of the city, the old square, the cathedrals and the valleys.
They return to Havana and shop at a local gift shop. They purchase coconut monkeys, guayaberas (Cuban shirts), handicrafts and woodwork figurines.
Next, they grab lunch and sit at a local restraint outside.
They order ropa vieja (shredded beef and tomato sauce over rice), vaca fritas (marinated flank steak), medianoche (roasted pork pressed sandwiches), Cuban sandwiches and Cuban tamales. Finally, they order Cuban arroz con leche (rice, milk, sugar and cinnamon) and flan for dessert.
"Awesome food like Mexico!" Cuphead said as he ate a medianoche.
"Yeah, they really outdo themselves with this roasted pork." Mugman agreed as he ate a Cuban sandwich.
"Their beef maybe tough but very tender." Ms. Chalice said, eating a flank steak.
"Cuba is similar in a way to Mexico only they're two different places." Gwen said.
"I get it. Mexico is part of the mainland and Cuba are a group of islands. Am I right?" Mugman asked.
"Exactly." Clarence said.
Gwen and Clarence grab their mojitos, and the cups grabbed their glasses of maltas (sweet malty soda like root beer).
"To a Cuban day of fun!" Clarence toasted.
They clinked their glasses and sipped their drinks.
While they chatted, a young tall Afro-Cuban teenage girl walked into the restaurant and tried to order some food. But she was rudely turned away by the manager.
"¡No puedes comer aquí! ¡Tienes poco dinero!" The restaurant manager yelled.
"¡Por favor señor! ¡Recibo muy poco dinero y no he comido en mucho tiempo!" The girl begged.
This gets Gwen's attention.
"Oh my. She's trying to get food, but she barely has any money." Gwen said, figuring it out.
"We still have plenty of food. Why don't we share with her?" Clarence suggested.
"Good idea honey." Gwen said as she got up and walked towards the girl.
"Oh! You're finally got here! We're over there and ready to eat! Come on!" Gwen said, pretending the girl was a friend.
"¿Qué estás haciendo americana?" The girl asked.
"Play along." Gwen whispered as she led the girl away.
The manager looked confused as Gwen led the girl to their table and pulled up an extra chair. The girl looked shocked at the food they ordered. Gwen hands her a plate.
"Help yourself." Gwen offered.
The girl looked at the food and started plating up some sandwiches, flank steak and tamales and quickly started eating.
"Wow, she was really hungry." Cuphead said.
"Cuphead!" Gwen quietly scolded.
"People are suffering from the Great Depression too. They're really poor." Clarence whispered.
"Oh." All 3 cups said, now understanding.
"Like most of the places we visited." Mugman said.
"Exactly." Gwen confirmed.
The girl finished everything on her plate and grabbed some flan and arroz con leche and started eating.
"Had room for dessert too?" Ms. Chalice asked.
The girl looked and noticed the cups and was shocked.
"¿Tazas?" The girl asked confused.
"Yes, cups." Cuphead answered, knowing Spanish.
"We have cups for heads." Mugman said.
The girl leaned and looked inside their heads, noticing their milk.
"Guau." The girl said, amazed.
"Uh, gracias." Mugman thanked.
"What's your name?" Ms. Chalice asked.
The girl paused for a moment, then finally spoke up.
"Benita." Benita introduced herself.
"Benita?" Clarence asked.
"Sí. My name is Benita Zugasti." Benita revealed in English.
"Aha! You do speak English!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"Cuphead! Don't be rude!" Gwen scolded.
"No, he's right. I wasn't sure if I should trust you at first. But I see you were true to your word and shared your food with me." Benita revealed.
"Oh, you wanted to see if you could trust us first." Clarence said, understanding.
"Sí, señor." Benita said as she ate some flan.
"Uh, my name's Gwendolyn Mae Emmons. Gwen for short. This is my fiancé Clarence Hopewell and by best friends Cuphead, Mugman and Ms. Chalice." Gwen introduced.
"Unusual names for the tazas." Benita said.
"We know. We ain't from around here." Cuphead said.
"So, were you just looking for food?" Gwen asked.
"Sí Gwen. You see, I work on sugar plantation harvesting sugarcanes, and I get very little pay. I can barely afford anything." Benita sadly answered.
"I'm so sorry." Gwen said, feeling sympathy.
"Gracias." Benita thanked.
"De nada." Gwen answered in Spanish.
Gwen pays the tab, and the group leave the restaurant and travel through Havana to the outskirts to a sugarcane field.
"Is this the sugar plantation you work at?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Yes Chalice. This is where I work. I hate it." Benita answered.
"If you hate it, what's your real dream?" Cuphead asked.
"You would laugh if I told you. Many people have laughed at me." Benita sadly answered.
"Oh, come on. It can't be that bad." Mugman said.
"We won't laugh." Clarence assured her.
"That's what you'll say. Then after I tell you, you laugh at me." Benita said feeling nervous.
"Benita, we give you, our word." Gwen promised.
Benita hesitates until she gathered a little courage.
"Alright. I will tell you." Benita finally agreed.
Benita took a deep breath.
"I… uh. I-I-I-I want to be a…" Benita nervously spoke until she couldn't finish her sentence.
"A what?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"A physicist." Benita finally finished.
Benita hid her face in her hands in embarrassment. But after several moments, she hesitantly removed her hands as she sees to her shock and slightly relieved, none of them laughed.
"Uh… what's a physicist?" Cuphead asked.
"A physicist is someone who studies physics. Such as space, biology and science." Gwen answered.
"That's it?" Clarence asked.
Benita gasped in shock.
"That's it? You are the first friends I ever told." Benita admitted.
"Really? You call us your friends?" Mugman asked feeling touched.
"You don't know how happy that makes me." Benita said with a smile.
"We're glad to see you happy." Clarence said.
"I was inspired by Albert Einstein himself. He came to Cuba a few years ago." Benita said.
"Wow, the genius physicist himself?" Gwen asked.
"Sí. He came for vacation and to explain his discovery of the photoelectric theory. He said the photoelectric effect is the emission of electrons from a material caused by electromagnetic radiation such as ultraviolet light." Benita happily answered.
None of the group knew what she was talking about with puzzled looks.
"Anyway, I wish to be like him. But unfortunately, I have no money to go to good college to study physics like he studied in Switzerland." Benita said sadly.
"That's sad." Cuphead said.
"It's a wonderful wish." Mugman complimented.
"Gracias. But they tell me I'm just a lowly poor sugarcane harvester and that's all I'll ever be." Benita said, still sad.
The group looked at her in sympathy as Benita resumed work harvesting sugarcanes.
"So, what now?" Mugman asked.
Gwen held her magic inkwell in her hand, fiddling with it.
"Honey, quit fiddling with that thing." Clarence said.
"Sorry, I was lost in thought again." Gwen apologized.
"Still thinking about how different your life would've been if you haven't found that inkwell?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"What? Why do you think that?" Clarence asked.
"Sorry love. I've just been thinking about how if I haven't found this thing, the Devil would never be after me. Never having to look over my shoulder, sleep with my ink pen in my hand and the invisible sweater. And the upcoming war would never happen." Gwen said.
"How could you think that? Look what it's done. The cups found you. Ms. Chalice found you and I found you." Clarence said, trying to talk sense into her.
Gwen sighed.
"Yes, that's true." Gwen said but still felt sad.
"Look, I know you're still scared, he's cause you pain and suffering. But you need to keep your head. You're not thinking straight." Clarence said.
"Look, I can't keep dealing with that monster. He's hurt me and my family and friends too much. Sometimes I just wish I could go back in time and make sure I never found that inkwell!" Gwen vented out loud.
The group gasped in shock.
Suddenly, the magic inkwell started glowing and everything around them sped around the sky and noticed they were being teleported to another location. After the strange phenonium stopped, they looked to find themselves in the park in Boston and it was daylight.
"Hey, where are we?" Cuphead said looking around.
"I think we're back in Boston." Mugman guessed.
"This is Boston. I recognize it." Ms. Chalice said.
"Gwen, whatever just happened, you need to undo this!" Clarence said, feeling nervous.
He suddenly realized Gwen wasn't there.
"Gwen?" Clarence asked looking around.
He spotted Gwen looking at something. Clarence ran up to her.
"Gwen, you need to take us back!" Clarence said.
"That… that's me." Gwen said in a shocked tone.
Clarence looked at her 18-year-old self walking through the woods.
"Wait, is that… you?" Clarence asked.
"That was me… 3 years ago." Gwen said, now realizing what was happening.
"3 years ago?" Clarence asked, when a revelation hit him.
"Wait a minute! We're in the past!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"Wow, you can travel back in time now?" Mugman asked.
"Wow, seems like only yesterday we crossed paths Gweny." Ms. Chalice said.
Just then Benita walked up to the group.
"What just happened? Where are we and why are there 2 Gwens? Benita asked in shock.
"I'll fill you in." Gwen said.
She explained the situation and she has magic and powers.
"Fascinating. So, you have magic in that bottle and godly powers inside you." Benita said.
"Yeah. Not only we're in my hometown, but we're 3 years into the past." Gwen explained.
Benita's eyes widened and her mouth dropped.
"Wow, so time travel is possible!" Benita exclaimed.
Benita pulled out a notebook from her bag and started writing notes.
"What are you writing?" Cuphead asked.
"Just making notes of the sudden time warp and the precise moment in that place of time. In other words, Gwen somehow made us warp to this exact moment she wanted to go." Benita theorized.
"Yes, I vented that I wished I could go to the moment I found the magic inkwell and change it so the Devil would never be after me." Gwen said.
"What?! You cannot change the past! That could have serious consequences like paradox of the space-time continuum would be damaged and altering the timeline! In other words, if you change something in the past, it will alter your future like a butterfly! Therefore, we cannot be seen or heard, and we don't do anything!" Benita frantically warned.
The group looked in shock.
"Wait, so you're saying I shouldn't change the past?" Gwen asked.
"Exactly! We need you to take us back to our present day back at the sugarcane plantation." Benita instructed.
"Gwen, Benita has a strong point. We need to go before something happens." Clarence agreed with Benita.
Gwen looked at herself still walking in the woods.
"God help me." 18-year-old Gwen said to herself.
Gwen remembered how she felt that moment but then realized Clarence and Benita were right.
"Alright guys, you win." Gwen said, finally accepting their theory.
Gwen prepared to use the magic inkwell to return to the present. They regroup until Cuphead got hit in the head by a ball.
"Ow! Stupid kids!" Cuphead exclaimed.
He threw the ball away, unintentionally hitting the magic inkwell falling from the sky and made it shoot far away.
"Oops." Cuphead said awkwardly as everyone glared at him.
Cuphead chuckled nervously.
"You taza loco! You made the magic inkwell shoot away! Now she will have never find that inkwell!" Benita angrily exclaimed.
"What's gonna happen?" Mugman asked.
"Now, the future will be altered!" Benita answered.
"We gotta do something!" Ms. Chalice said.
"Uh, if I hurry, maybe I can get us back to that moment and undo this!" Gwen said fearfully.
"Do it!" Clarence exclaimed.
Gwen used the magic inkwell and once again shifted the space-time continuum. But suddenly they find themselves still in Boston but at a different time.
"Woah, what just happened?" Clarence asked looking around.
Gwen looked around, recognized some familiar settings.
"Hey, I remember this fountain when I was a kid. Too bad they later had to get rid of it." Gwen said.
Then, a realization struck her.
"Guys? I think we're several years back in the past." Gwen said.
"Oh, look. There's 2 cute little girls playing. One of them looks like you Gweny." Mugman said in a cute voice.
Gwen gasped and hid behind some bushes to get a closer look. She noticed herself as a 6-year-old plying with an 8-year-old Rose. The others joined Gwen in the bushes and watched.
"Tag! You're it Gwen!" Rose called and ran.
Gwen ran after her, but Rose was too fast. Then she got an idea and climbed up a nearby tree.
"Oh, I remember this! What I lacked in speed, I made up for in smarts." Gwen said.
"Gwen? Gwen? Where are you?" Rose called, looking for her.
"3… 2… 1." Gwen quietly counted down.
The younger Gwen dropped from the tree and landed on top of Rose.
"Tag! You're it!" Younger Gwen yelled excitedly.
"Hey no fair!" Rose complained.
"Rosebud! Doodlebug!" A familiar older voice called.
The group noticed Grandpa Earnest arriving before his granddaughters. Seeing her grandfather back when he was alive made Gwen feel a strong feeling of sadness, love and longing for those were the happiest times when she was a little girl.
"Hey look! It's Grandpa when he was alive!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"SHH!" The group shushed him.
"Gwen, that was mean to drop on your sister." Earnest scolded.
"Sorry grandpa." Younger Gwen apologized.
Younger Gwen got off her sister then ran up to Earnest as he lifted her up in his arms.
"Let's get home. Your parents will have dinner ready." Earnest said as he also held Rose's hand and walked away.
Gwen had a few tears in her eyes.
"Gwen, what's wrong?" Clarence asked.
"I'd almost forgotten how comforting it was when Grandpa held me." Gwen admitted.
"Your abuelo looked like he was a wonderful man, but we need to fix the timeline." Benita reminded her.
"Oh, right." Gwen said.
Gwen used the magic inkwell and time warped back to the moment Cuphead got hit by a ball. But they find themselves in a destroyed park in Boston.
"Oh! I think I overshot it again!" Gwen exclaimed.
"What just happened?" Cuphead asked.
"Looks like something the Devil would do." Mugman said.
"Speaking of which…" Ms. Chalice said fearfully and pointed up.
The group looked up and gasped in horror.
The Devil was using the magic inkwell to conquer Earth starting with Boston.
The Devil looked at the Inkwell in his hand, his face showing a malevolent and satisfying look of triumph.
"At last! The power! The absolute glorious power of the Magic Inkwell is now mine! All mine! I am very thankful no other mortal had found it before me. For with its powers in my hand, I now have both the Inkwell Isles and the Human World in my grasp! For with this, the worlds and the universe are mine to command, to control and to rule all! AAAHHH Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!"
The Devil shouted before he gave a loud cruel laugh in victory.
"Wow! And we thought he was crazy scary with just his pitchfork!" Cuphead said with fear.
"Our world and the human world would never be fine nor the same again if he had that inkwell." Mugman worriedly said.
Hearing what the Devil and her friends said, Gwen felt cold horror of the worst and irreversible reality if the Devil had managed to have his hands on the inkwell.
"So, this is what he's planning to do to our worlds if he marries me." Gwen said in shock.
"El Diablo wants to marry you for your magic and powers, and this is what he'll do to our world?" Benita asked.
"Yes. That's why we're fighting him and my marriage to Gwen will free her for good." Clarence answered.
Benita was shocked this was all real.
"Gwen, you need to try again. Take us back." Benita said.
"Okay. Focus, focus." Gwen said raising her ink pen.
They were whisked back in the past, only this time they appear in an unfamiliar location.
"Wait, this isn't what I was thinking! I swear!" Gwen protested.
"Now where are we?" Cuphead asked.
"Wait, remember when we met the Three Stooges?" Mugman asked.
"Yes?" Gwen asked.
"This looks like California." Mugman answered.
"But why here?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"Hey, is that… you?" Clarence asked pointing.
The group take cover behind a building and looked. They noticed an 18-year-old Gwen walking with her bags looking ragged and feeling upset.
"Wait, why am I upset?" Gwen asked.
"Didn't once tell me you planned to go to art school here?" Clarence asked.
"Yes, my plan was to leave my parents, go to California to be in an art school. But looking at my alternative self, it looks like I was… rejected?" Gwen asked confused.
"Did you have money to go to art school?" Cuphead asked.
"Did you plan where to live?" Mugman asked.
Suddenly, a realization struck Gwen.
"No… I didn't have enough money. I didn't have a plan. I was doing it out of…" Gwen said, now realizing the consequences of her previous actions.
"Impulse." Benita finished.
The group looked at Benita.
"Gwen, it is true I wish to go to a university to study physics. But I also considered where to live, how much money I have and how I would support myself. That was why I stayed put, hoping I could earn enough money to go to college, find a place to live and get a job someday." Benita said, proving a point.
"Wow, you are smarter than I am. I really didn't think about the consequences if I followed through with my original plan. I was just trying to escape from my problems at home." Gwen admitted.
"Maybe it was a good thing you were brought to the Inkwell Isles after all." Mugman said, holding her hand.
"Yeah. And it was a good thing Mugsy, and I found you in the woods." Cuphead added.
"And it was a good thing you followed me in Inkwell City when I confronted you." Ms. Chalice finished.
Gwen thought of those memories and realized they were right.
"Also, it was a good thing Rose and William took you to the restaurant and dance where we first met." Clarence said.
Gwen sighed and facepalmed.
"You're right. You're all right. I didn't realize how good I had it and I almost threw it away. I'm so sorry you guys." Gwen sadly apologized.
The cups all hugged her.
"It's okay Gweny." Cuphead said.
"At least you learned your lesson." Mugman added.
"Hey, we've been through worse." Ms. Chalice said.
"That's true." Gwen agreed.
Clarence hugged Gwen.
"I'm glad you finally see that what you thought was the worst day of your life turned out to the best thing that ever happened to you." Clarence said.
"Yes love. I see it now." Gwen agreed.
Benita looked at them and smiled. Then she hugged the group.
"Everything happens for a reason. Maybe it is the universe, maybe it is fate and destiny." Benita said.
"Uh, guys? The other Gwen's coming our way!" Ms. Chalice exclaimed
They watched teenage Gwen walk their way as the group ducked back to avoid being seen. But to their shock the teenage Gwen entered the alleyway. Even more shocking is when she just walked past them like a ghost not noticing anything at all and sat against the wall crying.
"Whoa! She just past us like a ghost!" Cuphead exclaimed.
"What? This makes no sense. If no one cannot see or hear us…" Benita said.
"That's what I was trying to tell you! I really tried to focus on the moment, but I didn't think of these scenarios at all! I think someone's toying with time!" Gwen guessed.
"But who?" Mugman asked.
Just then, there was a clapping sound. The group turned to look and saw the teenage Gwen looking at them with an amused look.
"Well done my friends. You figured it out." Teenage Gwen said.
"What the? You can hear and see us?!" Ms. Chalice exclaimed.
"Why didn't you tell us before?" Cuphead asked suspiciously.
"I wanted to show Gosa how it would've turned out if she never found the magic inkwell and if she tried to go to art school in California." Teenage Gwen answered.
"Gosa? Wait a minute!" Clarence exclaimed.
"You're not me! You are…!" Gwen exclaimed until she was interrupted.
Teenage Gwen transformed into the king of the gods himself: Zeus.
"ZEUS?!" Everyone exclaimed as Benita gasped.
"That's right. I was pulling the strings. It wasn't Gosa at all." Zeus revealed.
"You mean this whole thing was a setup?" Cuphead asked.
"That's right my boy." Zeus answered.
"What? But how did you…?" Clarence was about to ask.
"Quite simple my boy. I discovered you all disobeyed me to stay put so I was coming to reprimand you all when I heard Gosa wished she never found the magic inkwell." Zeus explained.
"But why? Why did you do this?" Mugman asked.
"To teach Gosa a lesson." Zeus answered.
"What lesson?" Ms. Chalice asked.
"About tampering with the space-time continuum and how everything happens for a reason plus show her how good she had it with her life after she found the magic inkwell." Zeus answered.
Gwen felt terribly guilty.
"I'm so sorry my lord. I disobeyed you and I really didn't think about the consequences of my actions. Whatever punishment you have for me I accept it. I'll deal with being stripped of being a goddess and being mortal again." Gwen apologized and accepted whatever Zeus has planned.
"Punishment? Who said anything about a punishment and stripping you of your godhood?" Zeus asked confused.
Gwen looked confused herself.
"But I… almost messed with the timeline." Gwen answered.
"You never did. This was all an illusion. Here, let me show you." Zeus said.
Zeus raised his hands and magically transported them back to the sugar plantation in Cuba.
"Hey! We're back! Thank goodness!" Benita exclaimed happily.
"That's right. Technically you were here the whole time. I just made illusions of Gosa's past and visions of possible alternate timelines to show her what could've been." Zeus said.
"Wow, you're good." Ms. Chalice said.
"Thank you, little Chalice." Zeus thanked.
"You are… a god?" Benita asked amazed.
"Yes. I am the king of the gods Zeus young intelligent one." Zeus confirmed.
Benita bowed in respect.
"Your new friend is very wise about time travel and the consequences. You should listen to her." Zeus suggested.
"Oh, we will. And everything she said helped us out." Clarence agreed.
"My lord, I hope you can forgive me." Gwen said, feeling guilty.
Zeus placed his arm on her shoulder.
"I already have. And no, I won't strip you of your godhood and powers. Even we gods can make mistakes. I should know. I've made so many mistakes throughout the centuries. But if those mistakes have taught me, learning from them is what makes us better. Of course we do need to discuss your desire to see the world while you are still in danger with the Devil." Zeus assured her.
"I've made lots of mistakes as a mortal. And yet I learned from them." Gwen admitted.
"That's right. Mortals are like us immortals. No better no worse." Zeus agreed.
"So, what now?" Clarence asked.
"I shall await your return when you're finished here." Zeus said.
Zeus disappears back to Mount Olympus.
"I figured I had to face him sooner or later."
Benita looked in shock at Zeus's power.
"Ay caramba!" Benita exclaimed.
"I guess we should head home too." Clarence suggested.
"Good idea." Mugman agreed.
"You're leaving?" Benita asked.
"Yeah, we're preparing for the war against the Devil." Gwen answered.
"I would like to help in anyway." Benita offered.
"Are you sure? This is a worldwide problem." Gwen asked.
"I'm sure. I think my intelligence could aide you in the war." Benita answered.
"I'll call on you when the time comes." Gwen said.
"Gracias." Benita said.
"And that if this is secret that's moi enorme, I promise I will not say of word of any one of this." She vowed.
Gwen gave a pleased look.
"I was about to ask if you were going to keep this secret. But, once again, you already thought ahead and beaten me to it." Gwen said.
Just then, Benita gives Gwen a hug. After a brief moment of surprise, Gwen, with a soft smile, wrapped her arms around the girl.
"We'll see you later." Gwen said.
"Adios my friends." Benita said.
Gwen teleports the group back to her palace in Heaven.
"Finally! We're back in our dear home!" Mugman said, relaxing on a comfy couch.
"Yeah, I need a rest too." Cuphead said, laying on a hammock.
"I think we all need to rest." Clarence agreed.
"Right, we should go to the spa chamber. It has a relaxation and meditation room." Gwen suggested.
"Oh yeah! Almost forgot about that room!" Ms. Chalice said.
Moments later, the group enter a dark with lit candles and relax on comfortable lounge beds with gentle oriental music playing in the background.
Everyone sighed happily as they rested. Gwen however thought of Benita and decided to do something. She teleports to her reflecting pool, tapped it and saw Benita still harvesting sugarcanes.
"Thank you for opening my eyes, Benita. Therefore, your wish is granted." Gwen said as she cast magic with her ink pen.
Back in Cuba, Benita heard Gwen's words in her head.
"What wish? Gwen?" Benita asked.
"Zugasti! Stop daydreaming and get back to work or else!" The owner of the plantation yelled with a cigar in his hand.
Benita rushes back to work before she got into trouble.
Just then, a mailman approached her with a nice-looking envelope.
"Benita Zugasti?" The mailman asked.
"¿Sí?" Benita answered.
"Entrega especial." The mailman said as he handed her the envelope and walked away.
Benita opens the envelope and reads the letter.
"Dear Benita Zugasti,
Congratulations! We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. We are offering you a scholarship that will cover your dorm to live and your tuition. This is based on a recommendation from Albert Einstein himself who sees potential in your for brilliant intelligence and your outstanding achievements in physics. Your semester will start in one month, so you have time to get settled into the dorm at MIT as soon as possible. We are looking forward to seeing you in class.
Sincerely,
The Dean of Massachusetts"
Benita's eyes widened and her mouth dropped.
"This… this is it! I'm finally going to college!" Benita exclaimed happily.
"Zugasti! I told you to get back to work!" The rude plantation owner yelled.
Benita faced her soon-to-be former boss.
"I'm not going back to work; I'm going to college in America!" Benita bravely stood up for herself and held up the acceptance letter.
The plantation owner's eyes widen in shock and dumbfounded as he saw the letter.
"But-But But that's not! How did you even!" He stammered loss of words.
"And I have good news for you…" Benita said.
Benita threw her apron at the owner in his face, making him drop his cigar.
"I QUIT!" Benita yelled and stormed off from the sugar plantation.
Everyone on the plantation stood in awe and shock of Benita's bravery and that she was finally achieving her dream.
Benita goes to her small poor apartment and packs all her belongings. Just then she hears Gwen's voice.
"So, are you ready to start your new life at MIT in my home state of Massachusetts?" Gwen's voice echoed.
"Yes, I am ready." Benita answered happily.
Suddenly, a portal to the campus opened.
"Remember Benita, once you cross this portal into Massachusetts, there is no turning back. Do you understand?" Gwen's voice asked.
Benita thought for a moment about everything she learned.
"Yes, I do." Benita answered.
Benita bravely stepped through the portal and entered Massachusetts. She noticed the portal closing and disappears.
"Behold, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Your destiny awaits." Gwen said.
"Thank you, Gwen my friend." Benita thanked.
Benita goes to the main building to get checked in and move into her new dorm and to learn the ropes of MIT.
Back in Heaven, Gwen felt proud of herself for paying it forward to another person in need.
"Another good deed done." Gwen said to herself.
"Indeed, my dear." Zeus's voice echoed.
Gwen turned to see Zeus entering her palace.
"Oh, hey my lord. What can I do for you?" Gwen greeted.
"Take a walk with me." Zeus answered.
Gwen joins Zeus outside and walk to his grand palace.
"I'm very proud of you today for learning a valuable lesson of the dangers of time travel." Zeus complimented.
"Thank you. I promise it will never happen again." Gwen promised.
"Very good. You were also lucky your new intelligent friend warned you about the consequences. Now, you leave the preparations of the war to us. And you need to be careful where you go since the Devil could strike by any means. We'll talk about that later." Zeus advised.
"I will sir. Thank you." Gwen thanked.
Gwen says goodbye to Zeus and rejoins her friends in the relaxation room. She learned a valuable lesson on messing with time and to be grateful for everything good that has happened to her.
