(MAISIE IS HAILEY AND JAY'S KID - (SHE IS FIVE YEARS OLD IN THIS CHAPTER) WHEN THEY FIND HAILEY AND JAY - I'VE MADE IT ACT LIKE ONE TREE HILL WHEN CLAY AND QUINN WERE SHOT!

TW: Panic Attacks, blood.

It was the next morning, and the team was at Jay and Hailey's town home. The team was all together in the living room, drinking beer and talking amongst each other.

Jay was there too, and he was constantly being followed around by their English Bulldog, Cooper.

Every time Jay tried to walk anywhere, Cooper would follow him and try to sniff him. "Damn it, Coop. Leave me alone," he muttered every time.

Everyone else was laughing at him, watching Cooper follow him everywhere. Kevin chuckled, looking at Jay. "Seems like Cooper's got a crush on you today, man."

They all looked outside, watching as Jay threw the ball out into the massive garden for Cooper to chase after.

But Cooper just stood there, not grabbing the ball. Jay looked down at him, wondering why he wasn't going after it. "C'mon, bud. Go get it," he said, pointing to the ball.

Cooper just stood there though, refusing to move. Kevin chuckled, looking at him. "What's with him? Why isn't he grabbing the ball?"

Jay was confused, wondering why Cooper wasn't fetching the ball. "I don't know. He usually grabs the ball right away," he said, staring down at him.

Everyone was getting concerned, leaning forward on the couch. "Maybe he's not feeling good this morning," Adam suggested, shrugging his shoulders.

Jay knelt down, trying to get Cooper to come closer. "C'mere, bud. What's going on with you this morning?"

Cooper slowly walked over to him, but still didn't want to grab the ball.

Jay was puzzled as to why Cooper wasn't acting normal. "What's going on, boy? Why aren't you grabbing the ball?" he asked, scratching him behind the ears.

Cooper was standing in front of Jay, looking up at him. He knew a seizure was coming.

But Jay didn't know this, he didn't understand that the dog knew what was about to happen to him. "You're being really weird this morning, boy. What's going on with you?" he asked, scratching him behind the ears again.

Everyone heard him shout her name. Maisie came running down the hallway towards him, excited.

"Coming, daddy!" she yelled, running towards the living room.

Jay saw her coming, smiling at her. "Come on, sweetheart. Cooper's not playing with his ball right now," he called to her, watching her run into the room.

Maisie toddled over to him. When she reached him, she looked down at Cooper.

"Coop-Coop!" she said, giggling as he nosed her gently.

Jay chuckled, watching as Cooper nosed her gently. "He's not playing with his ball. Maybe you can get him to play with it," he said to her.

Everyone awwed at her, thinking it was cute. "Aww, look at her. She's so cute," Kim said, smiling at her.

Jay chuckled and picked up Maisie. "Why don't you play with Coop for a while?" he asked her, rubbing her back.

Maisie nodded, giggling. "Yay!"

Jay put her down, and she immediately went over to Cooper. Jay smiled, sitting down on the couch and leaning back. He took off his watch and set it on the coffee table.

Maisie started playing with Cooper, giggling as she ran around him and tried to grab his rope toy.

Jay sat on the couch, watching her play with the dog.

Kevin, Adam, and Kim were in the kitchen getting more beer, and Hailey was texting her parents. Voight was just watching everyone, smiling as he watched Maisie run around with Cooper.

Maisie was still playing with Cooper, laughing as she pulled him around on his rope toy.

Jay continued watching the two of them. He thought he was going to have a seizure, but he was in the clear.

Kevin, Adam, and Kim were watching from the kitchen, laughing and smiling as Maisie played.

Hailey looked up from her phone, seeing her daughter playing with Cooper. She smiled and walked over to the couch, sitting down beside Jay.

Hailey was snuggled close to him, watching Maisie and Cooper play together. Jay whispered into her ear, asking her if she was ovulating. She nodded, whispering back to him.

"Yeah, I am. Why? You looking to get lucky again?" she asked, grinning up at him.

Everyone suddenly heard the bedroom door close, and they all knew what that meant. The team shared a look with each other, knowing damn well what was going on.

Kevin chuckled, taking a sip of his beer. "Looks like they're getting down to business, huh?"

Maisie ran downstairs, holding her little bag against her mouth. She was panting heavily, looking panicked and hyperventilating.

Everyone looked alarmed when they saw Maisie run downstairs, noticing that she was hyperventilating into her little bag.

"Oh my God. Maisie! What's wrong? What's going on?" Kim asked, walking over to her.

Maisie tried to talk, but was too busy hyperventilating and panting into her bag. She was struggling to catch her breath, tears streaming down her cheeks as she gasped for air.

Everyone was standing around her now, looking worried and scared for her. She was struggling to talk, her breathing rapid and labored.

"Maisie, honey, can you talk? What's going on? What happened?" Voight asked, crouching down to her level.

Maisie tried to talk again, but was still hyperventilating and panting too much to speak.

She was holding the bag tightly against her mouth, tears streaming down her cheeks. She pointed towards the stairs, trying to tell them something about the second floor.

They walked into the bedroom, and were immediately shocked and horrified at what they saw.

The room was trashed, things were everywhere. Then they spotted Jay lying on the floor, blood pooling around his body. Hailey's body was on the bed, also covered in blood.

They were both bleeding a lot and were unconscious. Everyone was stunned at what they were seeing.

They all stood there frozen, looking horrified. "Oh my God. Jay... Hailey..." Kim whispered, her face turning pale.

Voight was absolutely speechless at the sight of Jay and Hailey.

But after a few minutes, he quickly snapped out of it, taking a deep breath.

He quickly snatched his radio off his pocket, turning it on. "We need an ambulance to 9852 South Shore Drive! Now!" he shouted into it.

"10-4. Ambulance En Route."

Kim and Kevin grabbed a duffle bag and quickly went to work packing some of Jay and Hailey's clothes for the hospital.

Voight put an arm around Maisie. "It's okay, sweetie. It's going to be okay."

The ambulance arrived shortly after they called for it. Paramedics quickly got to work, placing Jay on a gurney and covering him with a blanket.

Jay was bleeding heavily, and they were patching him up as best as they could. Another group of paramedics were doing the same for Hailey. They were patching up her chest, trying to stop the bleeding.

Everyone was standing outside when Voight came out, watching the ambulances take both Jay and Hailey away.

Once the ambulances left, he pulled out his radio. "All units, shut down all roads leading to Mercy Hospital. I got two officers en route. GSW to chest and stomach. Get me that road clear NOW!" he said into the radio, looking pissed.

"Are they slowing the cars with sirens down?"

Voight shook his head, squatting down to Maisie's level. "No, sweetie. We're making sure that everyone stays away from the hospital. The ambulances are taking your mom and dad to the hospital, and we're gonna make sure nobody gets in their way or slows them down."

They all followed the paramedics into the hospital, watching as they wheeled Jay and Hailey into the emergency room.

One of the medics gave the attending doctor a quick briefing on the situation.

"Male, mid-thirties. One gunshot wound to the stomach and multiple grazes to the arms and legs. Blood loss is significant, but we're working to control it," the medic reported.

The doctor nodded, listening to the report.

"Female, also mid-thirties. Multiple gunshot wounds to the chest and the body. Blood loss is also significant. We're working to control it," the other medic added.

The doctor quickly began barking out orders.

"I want them both intubated and gowned. I want them in my OR as soon as possible. They're both in really bad shape, and we need to get them both stabilized. Page Dr. Marcel, stat!" he shouted, calling for assistance.

The doctor was ready to intubate Jay, carefully tilting his head back to get a better look. Just as he was about to start, Maisie suddenly let out a loud, strangled sob.

"DADDY!" she cried out, her little hands reaching out for him as she leaned out of Voight's arms.

Maisie was inconsolable, struggling in his arms. Tears were streaming down her cheeks, her little hands still reaching out for Jay, who lay unconscious in front of her.

"Daddy! I want daddy!" she cried out, still reaching for him.

Kim heard Maisie crying and saw how upset she was. She knew she would need Jay's brother soon.

She quickly walked over to the reception desk and spoke to the nurse. "Can you page Will Halstead?" she asked, looking over her shoulder at Maisie.

The receptionist took the hint. "Of course," she said, nodding and dialing his number again.

She waited a few minutes, and then Will answered.

Will heard Kim's panicked voice and immediately became alarmed. Kim rarely called him, and when she did, it was never for a good reason.

"Kim? What's wrong?" he asked, leaning against the wall.

Kim closed her eyes, looking at Maisie, who was trying to open the door. "Will... Hailey and Jay have been shot. Maisie saw everything. She's banging on Jay's hospital door. She freaked when they were intubating him. You gotta get your ass to niece. Now."

Will's face paled as he listened to her explanation. He could hear Maisie crying in the background, and it broke his heart.

He took a deep, shaky breath and spoke, trying to keep his voice under control. "I'm on my way," he said, hanging up the phone.

Will hung up the phone and immediately started gathering his stuff.

He had to get to the hospital now.

Will made his way out of the room and down the hallway, practically running to his truck.

At Mercy Hospital. Kim came over and spoke to Will, her eyes sad.

"They're both in surgery right now. We're waiting for doctor's updates," she said, looking up at him.

They all looked over at Maisie. She was sitting on one of the chairs, her legs pulled up against her chest.

Maisie was rocking back and forth, clutching her little bag and her toy.

"About forty-five minutes. She's been like that since we've got here," Kim said, sighing heavily.

Will's heart broke as he heard how long Maisie had been sitting there alone.

He walked over to her, seeing her rocking back and forth. Will knelt down beside her chair, setting a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Hey kiddo," he said softly, looking at her.

Maisie looked up at him when she heard his voice. Her little eyes were red from crying, and tears were still streaming down her cheeks.

She let out a soft sob before launching herself into his arms.

Will caught her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her against his chest. He held her close, his arms wrapped tightly around her tiny frame.

Everyone was still sitting in the waiting area. Maisie had fallen asleep in Kim's arms, her little fingers clutching her toy bear.

Then, they all looked up when they saw the doctor coming down the hallway.

The doctor looked at them all, looking exhausted. He had been working on both Hailey and Jay, and he looked it.

"You're all here for Hailey Upton and Jay Halstead?" he asked, looking at them.

They all nodded, looking nervous.

Voight spoke up, his voice shaky. "Yes. We're their family. Please, tell us they're going to be okay," he said, getting straight to the point.

"Mr. Halstead hasn't stopped bleeding internally. There are gauze packs in his stomach, and they're holding right now. But there's no telling how long he can hold on," he told them, his voice grave.

"Ms. Upton is going to be okay. We had to give her several units of blood, and she has a couple of cracked ribs, but she'll be okay." the doctor told them, looking at Voight.
