Response to questions or statements:
-Ultima-owner: Pretty much a combination of both. She's both extremely drunk and tripping balls at the moment.
-TK0421: Yeah, whoever designed those aircraft deserves a raise and tech.
-Yea, Max is trying. No one can say that he isn't.
-Yeah, the electric shook messed her up bad. Yup, her true form is shown, AKA what she looked like before she died and became the Omnitrix. She's tripping ball's and hallucinating stuff from her past and just stuff in general
-NewGuest123: Pretty much what she's doing behind the backs of the Plumbers and the three Tennyson's that make up the cast.
-All I know if there was someone IRL who could do that, I would put as much distance between me and him as possible.
-Glad you enjoyed seeing Omni gaming. Also glad you approve of the gamer tag CheeseCrab.
-Yup, Omni's hurting right now. Shock really messed her up.
-Fam1: We'll see... we'll see...
-Guest0508: Yup, she got overloaded by the shock and is experiencing illusions. Yeah, Tennyson's are going to have questions for her once this episode is done.
-Chronosign: Made the changes. Again, thanks for your help.
-Angry is going to be an understatement, let me just put that out there.
-DBZFAN45: Yea, Ben's going to need to step up as Omni is messed up at the moment.
-Ehhh...
-Me-B-Louie-G: Yea, the girl is what she looked like before she got sent to the Ben 10 universe.
-Yeah, you do have a point. But then again, they could just be like that on a genetic level.
Chapter 20: Tourist Trap
The Tennysons' watched in growing unease and worry as they watched what was unfolding. Watching the virtual projection of a human woman hold onto seemingly nothing while looking like she was releasing months or potentially years worth of depression and sadness.
"Y-Y-You h-have no idea h-how much I m-missed you. Lord knows I did." Omni finally managed to say after she somewhat managed to compose herself. Tears still flowing down her digital face. "You d-don't k-know how hard it's been without you, Cadmon." She stuttered as she looked down in what seemed to be deep sorrow while still doing her best to embrace whoever she was hallucinating.
"Uh, have either of you met or know anyone named Cadmon?" Max questioned as he turned to face his grandkids.
"No, Grandpa." Ben said truthfully. "I don't know anyone that has that name."
"Me neither." Gwen chimed as Max turned his gaze back to the projection. As the two slowly approached they made their way to the side of the exchange they were witnessing.
"I-I should h-have listened to you." She confessed as she wiped away a few tears from her face. Doing little to stem the waterfall pouring down her cheeks. "Y-You were r-right. I should have stayed, I never should have left. I-I know but we n-needed the money, and I just-I just wanted to..." She trailed off as she curled up like she was being held by someone.
"Omni, look at me." Max gently said as he tried to get her attention on him. "I'm sorry, but there's no one there. What happened to you?" He asked. But unfortunately, she paid him no mind. Whether it was of her own volition, or if she genuinely didn't hear him, he didn't know. And neither did his grandkids.
"I-It's so g-good to see you again, honey. I thought I would never have the chance." She closed her eyes before snapping them up as she looked around frantically. Her eyes widened in panic as she began darting her eyes over the room frantically.
"Cadmon?" She asked softly as she teleported from one end of the room to another. Searching through every nook and cranny. "Cadmon? Please don't leave me..." She begged desperately as tears once again began flowing down her face.
"Omni, just calm down. We can figure this out." Max tried to get her focus again to no avail. "Please, just take a deep breath and tell us what's going on. Who are you talking to?"
"Cadmon? Cadmon!?" She raised her voice as she began moving about widely. At times causing Ben to unwilling move an arm or step to the side in a brisk movement as she took control and released it in seconds. Thankfully, not sending him flying into any of the walls or furniture.
"Cadmon!? CADMON!?" Omni shouted hysterically as she she began moving like she was being gripped with despair. "PLEASE! COME BACK TO ME, PLEASE! I"M SORRY! I'M SORRY! PLEASE DON'T LEAVE ME!"
Suddenly, another spark of green lighting popped out of the watch. As Omni let out another pained cry before fallen down to the floor, clutching her head as she wept. Before long she froze up as her body form shifted from the early-to-mid twenties woman to her Spartan form to her knight look until settling on her original form. Instantaneously, shifting from lying down to standing up while holding a Remington 870 while wearing aviator sunglasses.
"Look alive, men and Donut" Her tone of voice doing a one-eighty as she now sounded extremely upbeat with a southern accent. With the Tennysons's watching in absolute confusion as they struggled to digest what they were seeing. "Here's the plan, Grif's gonna charge straight ahead as a distraction, while the rest of us push up around on the right flank."
She paused as if someone was asking her question as she looked straight at Gwen. "The answer's simple, Simmons. Because Grif possess a huge bulbous form, he'll cover our advance by virtue of his humongous size alone! Why, he's so big, he can block out the sun at the right angles!" She finishes at she looks at Max. "Nobody cares, meat shield!"
She looked to Gwen and paused as if she was asking the AI a question. "Why thank you, Simmons. My genius is indeed frightening at times. Now then," She racked the shotgun as she somehow put a cigar in her mouth, despite not having one. "Gentlemen, Godspeed, and good-"
She froze up again like she was being shocked before her form turned into static and disappeared. Leaving the Tennysons' quiet as they processed what just happened with the green light on the Omnitrix pulsing dimly.
Looking at his grandkids, he raised a brow as he gave them an expectant look. "Ben, Gwen, anything you want to tell me?" He asked as he crossed his arms. Giving them a suspicious look in his eyes.
"Uh, no..." Ben said sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head.
Gwen sighed. "Ben, let's just tell him."
"Gwen!"
"Ben, this is not the time for avoiding blame!" The redhead snapped at her cousin. "Omni could be seriously hurt right now!"
She let out a shaky breath as she turned to Max. "Look, Grandpa, we went to go see 'it', and Ben touched it even though the signs said not to. Whatever was in there zapped Omni and caused her to spazz out. We couldn't even to get her to speak after she was fried. This was the first time she said anything since then."
After her confession, he gave Ben a disappointed look. "And why did you decide to hide this from me?"
Shamefully, Ben averted his eyes as he replied. "Because... I was afraid you'd be mad at me if I told you."
"A-Are you?" The ten-year old boy asked worriedly.
Max sighed as he shook his head in disbelief. "Ben, I'm not mad at you for accidentally getting Omni hurt. That was an accident, I get it. But what I am mad is that you tried to hide it from me knowing full well she could be severely injured or worse!"
"We don't know that!" Ben tried to argue.
"True, we don't." The eldest Tennyson admitted. "But what we do know certain is that something is seriously wrong with her."
"So, what do we do?" Gwen asked.
Max scratched his head as he thought deeply for several seconds. "For now, we'll check out what may have caused her to short out. In the meantime, we'll just have to hope she can put herself back together or whatever happened to her fades off."
Unexpectantly, the trio heard the sounds of destruction and chaos outside their room. Crash noises echoed outside as things could be heard falling over and sparks of electricity could be heard from what was presumably damaged power lines.
Grabbing one of his spare shirts, he handed it to Ben. "Here, wrap it around Omni." He instructed.
Seeing Ben's confusion, he elaborated. "Just in case she projects herself again, we need to make sure no one sees her."
Nodding, Ben did what he was told as the three of them exited the room. Coming across a scene of absolute destruction and mayhem, looking like a tornado had just come through the street as townsfolk walked around gathering up their belongings and whatever else survived the carnage.
"What happened here?" Gwen muttered out loud as they observed the damage.
"I think it's pretty clear who's responsible for these juvenile acts." Mayor Earl deadpanned as he stepped forward from the building next door.
"Juvenile acts..." Max grumbled as he glare at his grandkid, who withered under his gaze. "If I didn't know any better-"
"Oh, I'm not talking about these two youngsters." Earl interrupted. Much to Max's confusion.
"You're not?" The former Plumber asked as the two youngsters nodded truthfully that they didn't do it. "Well, if they didn't, who did?"
He got his answers in the form of a bolt of yellow lighting shimmered right behind Gwen's left leg, giggling madly as she yelp in surprised and pulled away her leg. Only for the thing to jump up and pull her shirt over her head as she glared at it in annoyance. The living battery-like creature made various poses as it made its way to Ben. Sticking it's tongue out at him before vanishing.
"Uh, what was that?" Ben asked aloud.
"A Megawatt." The Mayor revealed with the same deadpanned voice the group had become accustomed to.
"Mega what?" Gwen asked for clarification.
"Exactly, normally wrapped up inside of 'it', that was until thirty minutes ago." Earl missed Ben and Gwen glancing at each other from the corners of their eyes. "Some say it be a ball of lighting come alive from the very sky. Others say it's static cling run amok. Tough to say."
"Maybe it's an alien." Gwen suggested.
"It's a possibility." Earl admitted. "But I find that probability highly unlikely."
A loud feedback made all four of them cover their ears immediately, then came... music, coming from the town's sirens built in as part of the settlements civil defense alert system as a female monotone voice sang horribly off-key.
"I see a red door
And I want it painted black
No colors anymore
I want them to turn black."
Mayor Earl arched a brow ever so slightly. "Now who's using the loudspeakers to play music?" However, the Tennysons' knew as the voice sounded early familiar as they looked subtly at one another. Glancing down at the Omnitrix as she pulsed underneath the cloth wrapped around it.
"Uh... no idea." Ben said with a smile
Just then, the megawatt reappeared as it vanished into a nearby vending machine. Making it shake violently as bolts of yellow electricity sputtered out of it.
"What's it doing?" Gwen asked.
"It consumes electricity." Earl informed nonchalantly with a shrug. "The more it eats, the more powerful it gets."
The possessed vending machine then started spewing soft drinks at them. With the Tennyson's rushing to take cover behind a turned over truck as Earl calmly followed them.
"It also has a dangerous sense of humor." He finished as he took cover behind them behind the vehicle.
"You left that thing inside a rubber band ball all this time?! Isn't that kind of dangerous!?" Max demanded.
"Not so long as people minded the signs." Earl retorted firmly. As he glanced at Ben and Gwen, sensing that they were somehow responsibly for the predicament they were in.
"Alright, so how do we stop this thing, Mr. Mayor?" The elder Tennyson inquired.
"We?" Earl arched a brow. "You let it out, you deal with it." Was all he said as he sat on a nearby bench and took out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. Just as a burning bit of debris landed dangerously close next to them. With the trio staring at it when it did as Earl just lit the cigarette he placed in his mouth. All while horribly sung music continued to play throughout the town.
