Part Two - Explanations and Questions
The air was tense as Akutagawa and Chuuya stared at the President of the Armed Detective Agency, who stared right back at them. "Well? I'm waiting for an answer." The man spoke with authority; he knew exactly what he wanted: answers. Chuuya took a deep breath, calming himself before starting.
"Well, as you were well aware, sire, the four of us were sent on a mission together to take down an organization that was causing us trouble." The President nodded his head without a word, urging him to continue. "So we were at their hideout; we had all finished grabbing any incriminating evidence against them and knocking out enemies as we went, per Dazai's orders. We were almost out until we were surrounded with no way out. The four of us fought our way through with no other option, but there seemed to be no end. As the fight continued, one of the enemies attacked Akutagawa and myself with their ability. However, we didn't get hit even though we didn't notice. When we turned around and saw the attack coming, Dazai and Atsushi were already in front of us, taking the hit. After tanking the hit, they fell unconscious in our arms. We dealt with as many enemies as possible while doing our best to protect them, but we were quickly overwhelmed. So, after Akutagawa caused a quick distraction, we hightailed it. Once out, we blocked the entrance and thought everything would be okay. What we should have accounted for was the guards outside the building. They started shooting at us, and we ran out there. Since I was carrying Dazai and Akutagawa's ability could cover a large area, he stayed behind me and used Rashomond to protect our backs as we ran."
"What happened once you made back into the city?" Kenji asked, enveloped in the story.
"Once back in the city, we quickly took in our surroundings," Akutagawa continued, "I realized that your office was closer to us than ours, so we tried our best to cover these two on our backs with our coats and started making our way here. Unfortunately, they spotted us, so we started running to protect ourselves and them." Kunikida picked up the story from there.
"I was in the office with the others when we heard the gunshots. We all ran to the windows, confused, trying to locate where the sound was coming from. We all noticed the men with guns, but we didn't see what they were shooting at until Ranpo pointed it out. That's when we saw Akutagawa and Chuuya outside. I remembered what Ranpo and Yosano told me about the four of them on a mission together, so when I saw them, I needed clarification about why they showed up here and not Dazai and Atsushi in their place. I quickly realized that something must have gone wrong on the mission, and Dazai and Atsushi were on their backs.
So I ran without thinking to help them out. Once at the door, I commanded the two of them to close their eyes before I pulled the pin in the flashbang I created with my ability and threw it out the door. Then, I quickly closed my eyes. Once it went off, I ushered the two inside before the men regained sight. I brought them up here, where I had Yosano provide first aid, and others got food, water, blankets, and pillows to keep them comfortable until someone from the Port Mafia could pick them up."
"Okay, but that still doesn't answer my question about why Atsushi and Dazai are resting their heads on their laps."
"I can answer that, sir," Junichirou spoke, "When Kunikida and I tried to get the two off of their backs, they gripped tight to them. So we had to get them in this position. Atsushi and Dazai just kept their arms wrapped around them the entire time. And I think that's it." Fukuzawa just sighed.
"Well, let's hope they wake up soon. I'll call Mori to update him on the situation and send someone to pick Chuuya and Akutagawa up." And with that, he retreated back to his office.
"Well that was something," Chuuya said.
"You're telling me," Kunikida replied.
"Well, I'm finished," Yosano said. "When you go back to your base, I want you to get a thorough examination. I'll tell whoever comes to pick you up to make sure you do." The two boys nodded in agreement. The group chatted to help pass the time for the rest of the day until a groan grabbed their attention.
"Ngh." Dazai groaned, slowly walking up.
"Morning, Sleeping Beauty," Chuuya said sarcastically.
"Morning," the brown-haired man grumbled, "Where am I?"
"On my lap... In the Armed Detective Agency's Office."
"Oh, okay." Dazai fell back asleep before shooting back up in surprise, "WAIT WHAT?!"
"Ngh... Shut up, Dazai. Let me fucking sleep," Atsushi begrudgingly said before, also shooting up in bewilderment. "WAIT! DAZAI?!" However, as soon as Atsushi shot up, a piercing pain hit in the head.
"Here, you and Dazai should eat, then take these," Yosano said while handing the two pain meds. The two boys eat while catching up on the situation. "So, do you feel weird in any way?"
"Nope," Atsushi replied while Dazai just shook his head.
"That's good," the doctor said. "I'll still need to keep an eye; I'm going to need you to rest in the infirmary when these two leave."
"Speaking of leaving, Gin and Higuchi are here to pick us up," Akutagawa said, looking up from his phone.
"Ok, I'll escort you two out so I can talk to those two to make sure you get a proper examination," Yosano said as she walked towards the door. "Can someone also get Atsushi and Dazai to the infirmary while I do this?" Kunikida and Kenji walked over to the duo and helped them up. Yosano, Akutagawa, and Chuuya walked down the stairs to meet with the two girls outside. "I provided basic first aid, but they should still see a doctor to do a more thorough check-up of the two of them." The two girls nodded their heads and left with the two guys. Yosano walked back upstairs to check on Dazai and Atsushi before leaving the office for the night. But Kunikida had a gut feeling that the problems were just beginning.
