Everyone looked at the buffet that was left out for them on the tables in the common area. It was food they hadn't had in months since the fall of Jurassic World.
Jeff was prancing around the place playfully after being given a whole line of sushi. The little guy seemed to be enjoying his freedom on the island. With everything rhat was going on, they had almost forgotten about the little guy.
"The sun is shining, no dinosaurs are chasing us, and most importantly, breakfast is served." Sammy cheered.
"Feels weird to have nothing to worry about for once," Yaz said.
"Yeah, definitely," Darius says.
"I, myself, am very relaxed." Darius lied.
"Oh, same," Brooklynn said. "I'm, like...chill." Sammy and Yaz walked off, focused on them.
"You're not though, right?" Darius asks. "I wanna trust Kenji's dad I really do, but..."
"He gives off total liar vibes?" Peter asked as he approached Laura.
"Yeah, no, I don't trust the guy," Laura stated as she clawed at the food, using her claws like a fork. "Considering Kash all but confirmed he made me."
"What about Norman?" Darius wonders.
"I honestly don't know how to feel about the guy," Peter admitted. "He seems to be on our side. Which confuses me more."
"Yeah. But we can't turn Kenji's world upside down just because of a vibe." Darius said.
"No, but what if it turns out we're right?" Brooklynn asks.
"Why so doom and gloom in here, bros and girls?" Kenji asked as he approached them.
"I'm always gloomy," Laura informed him, not showing any emotion.
"Kenji!"
"Morning!"
"That's the spirit," Kenji said. "Man, am I pumped for today? Dad actually wants my help." He took some food and headed off to the table.
"I'm so happy you're happy, Kenji," Brooklynn said. "So, has he mentioned anything about when we get to call home or anything like that?"
"Well, you heard him," Kenji said, seems like he is siding with his dad. "He just needs a few days to arrange everything safely. Plus, he's super focused on the presentation right now. You get it."
"Right," Peter said sarcastically. "Because we understand the mind of a billionaire."
"Right!" Darius said. "So since you brought it up, now that dino fights are off the table, what exactly is he presenting?"
"I'm sure he's doing something super cool using Mae's communication." Kenji guessed. "We really got through to him. In fact, he even asked me to prep for the investor cocktail party. He said, and I quote, 'I'd rather you do it than those stupid robots'."
"Wow, Kenj. Nice." Brooklynn said. "How about I help?" She wanted to try and get closer.
"Oh, sorry, B. Dad's gotta get to know you before he'll trust you with an important assignment like this," Kenji said.
"And yet his dad expects us to trust him just because?" Laura muttered to herself. "It has taken me a long time. But I am sure you guys can find something to occupy time, right? Like... a date?"
That got Peter, Yaz, and Brooklynn to look amongst themselves. "What?"
"Huh?" Yaz asked, looking just as shocked.
"Ooh, a first real date?" Darius asks.
"Uh..." Peter quickly jumped up and chuckled. "I am gonna go see how Carla is doing. And this is not at all a way to get out of a kinda touchy subject that is still a little weird to hear out loud."
They watched Peter walk off and make his way downward. "Guess he isn't really used to the idea yet," Brooklynn said.
"Should we take that as a bad sign?" Yaz wonders.
"That is more the nerd doesn't know how to feel to have girlfriends," Brooklynn took the sign in a different approach. "I'll be fine."
"Maybe we should surprise him!" Sammy cheered. "Me and Laura could set everything up."
"I'm sorry, who can do what?" Laura asks.
"I'll set everything up for my dad see if I can help, and then meet you here at sundown," Kenji said as he walked off.
"Wow, you know Kenji's really happy when he's that excited to do work," Darius said.
"I know." Brooklynn sighed. "But what if Mr. Kon gave him busy work so he could be free to do something shady?"
"Let's find out. Just us." Darius said.
"Super low-key style, for Kenji's sake." Brooklynn agreed.
"Totally," Ben interjected. "I just saw Mr. Kon head into the jungle. I'll grab Firecracker and low-key show you which way he went. Follow me."
Peter made his way downward into the medical area. He really wanted to talk to Carla about the V252 and see what it was. When he made his way over, he heard what sounded like a silent alarm going off as he wandered over. He saw what looked like broken BRADs all over the place, getting Peter worried.
"Doc?" Peter called, running his way over to the medical area. "Dr. Connors?" When Peter reached the labs, he was shocked to see Norman was already there, looking over the destruction as he walked over to a computer. "What happened?"
"I am wondering that myself," Norman said, coughing as he sat on the destroyed bed. "Got a alert on the systems saying something broke one of the BRADs. Came down here to find more than just one destroyed BRAD."
"Where's DR. Connors?" Peter asked, worried this man might have done something.
"Let's see, shall we?" Norman asked, pulling up the security.
They watched on the security footage Carla's arm grew back while she was unconscious. She got up, and then they watched in horror as her body began to mutate. She grew larger, ripping through everything but the lab coat she managed to slip on before her transformation. She turned into a large lizard, towering over at least a grown person. Eight to ten feet at the most. Her face grew out to look like that of a lizard. She seemed to become as animalistic as one as well, as the BRADs tried to subdue her, but they weren't a match for this creature so she fought through them and escaped.
"That's not good," Norman said in fear.
"Dr. Connors transformed into a giant lizard? What the heck do you guys put in those IV bags?" Peter asked him.
"It couldn't have been anything we done, or Mae would also have shared the same fate," Norman defended.
Peter then realized that this was the work of the SM-6. "The SM-6. Regenerative properties. It must have had lizard DNA mixed into it."
"The SM- what?" Norman asks.
"It's this serum I found, I was worried Dr. Connors wouldn't make it, so I injected her with it hoping it would save her," Peter explained.
"Well, it did manage to save her, but it also turned her into... THAT." Norman proclaimed in horror.
"There has to be something we can do. Is there something we can do?" Peter asks Norman.
Norman leaned back and sighed, trying to think. "I might have enough of her original blood, before her transformation, during her blood samples we took, to try and synthesize a cure. Especially with our DNA splicing technology on standby here."
"How long will that take?" Peter asks.
"Uh, at the most five hours," Norman answered.
"Five hours?" Peter asked. "What do we do then?"
"For starters... You have to find her." Norman informed him.
"Find her?" Peter asks. "She's a rampaging lizard who is who knows where," Peter stated.
Norman worked on the computers again, seeing where she went. "Seems here she went further underground. The sewers."
"You guys have sewers?" Peter wasn't sure why he was surprised.
"That's the place where you should start looking," Norman told him.
Peter sighed and knew that he might not trust Norman, but right now he needs him. "Alright, I'll go check it out."
Peter made his way into the sewers where he started to look around. He felt a little hot looking around, but sighed as he kept searching the island sewers for a ten-foot lizard. When had this become his normal life? It barely sounds insane to say that now. Peter walked over and found a large clearing as he walked over and saw a giant machine in what he assumed was the center of the entire island base.
"What is this?" Peter asked, approaching the giant machinery. "Looks like a giant generator. Must be what Kon is using to power this place." Then he looked down and noticed a familiar logo on the side of the machinery. "Advanced Idea Mechanics? A.I.M.?" He got a little shocked as he looked around in fear. "A.I.M. is involved? What would A.I.M. want to be involved with a company like this unless..."
Then his senses went off, getting him to turn and look around, trying to find out where the danger was coming from. Then out of nowhere, he was tackled to the ground and groaned, seeing he was being held down by a claw. Looking up, he saw that Dr. Connors had indeed been transformed into a lizard. She roars at him, getting Peter to quickly form the V252 and force her off of him.
Carla snarled as she charged at Peter, chasing him around the small environment. Peter knew that in her lizard form, it seemed she didn't have much control over what she was doing, becoming more animalistic, so he needed to get her out of the way of the heavy equipment. He started to crawl his way over towards the tunnels, hoping she would follow.
"Doc, come on, I am trying to help you." Peter tried to assure her.
Carla only roared, chasing after the boy as he crawled alongside the tunnel ceiling and walls, trying to get some distance from the rampaging lizard. When Peter turned a corner, he began to set a trap as he shot dozens of webs and waited. Carla turned the corner and ended up walking into his webbing, but it did not hold her back for long as she ripped herself free and searched for him.
Peter crawled around and landed on her back, tackling her, but with her size, he ended up needing to cling to her back as he was frantically thrown around. Peter shot out two webs to lasso himself to her back and was dragged around as they ran into the sewer walls.
"You're not thinking straight, Doc!" Peter cried. He was holding himself back from using the V252's stronger methods of detaining her, wanting to take her down peacefully. "Stop this, this isn't you!"
Carla hit him against the wall, causing Peter to let her go and land on the wall. She quickly turned around and went to strike again, digging her claws into the wall of the sewers.
"Let's talk this out!" Peter tried to get through.
But Carla didn't seem to be in the mindset to talk as she roared, crawling her way over to try and grab him.
"Doc, come on!" Peter cried.
Lizard then leaps at Peter, but he rolls out of the way to dodge the strike. He quickly shot webs to try and contain her hand, but then she ripped a portion of the wall with her and it ended with Lizard ripping that portion off.
"Oh, boy," Peter feared the worst.
Lizard tried to swat him with the rubble attached to her hand, but Peter shot a web and pulled himself underneath the lizard, dodging the swing.
"Okay, so you don't wanna talk?" Peter asks.
The lizard roared at him as its response, followed by Peter shooting a web to cover her snout.
"There ya go!" Peter said.
Carla ripped the webbing off her face, sending her tail at Peter. He quickly caught her tail, but that turned into a mistake when she slammed him against the sewer walls.
"Don't..." Peter tried to say when she repeated her move, slamming him against the other wall. "Make me...l and then again, slamming him into the ceiling. "... have to..." then he was slammed into the ground. "...hurt you!"
Peter was then flung across the sewer, even splashing into the water. Luckily the V252 was water resistant and he crawled out with a groan. That was when he realized he also tore the tail off of the lizard.
"That's disgusting," Peter groaned, tossing the tail aside. Then he looked over and saw the tail regrow, but also the lizard morph and begin to become something much bigger. "Oh, you've got to be kidding me."
With its newfound strength, the lizard slammed through the roof of the sewers and made her way into the biome. Peter quickly leaped and chased after her, trying to stop her from getting away. But that ended with him getting smacked by the tail, slamming through several trees and a BRAD.
"Unauthorized life form detected."
"Shove it up your motherboard," Peter groaned, shoving the BRAD robot over.
Sammy carried a box full of things into the common area with Laura following and Kenji walking in, confused with what was going on. He saw Sammy put down the box and mutter something to herself as she looked around.
"What is going on?" Kenji wonders.
"Sammy is trying to set up a surprise date for Peter and the girls," Laura answered with a sigh. "I don't get it."
"Well, you will once it's done," Sammy promises. "We figured we should celebrate our lives not being in danger for once."
"And where is Yaz?" Kenji wonders.
"Yaz is going to finally take some time to relax," Yaz answered as she strolled through. "And also Sammy said I wasn't allowed to help. She wants me to see it when its finished."
"That's... great," Kenji seems to still be a bit upset over the whole 'Brooklynn choosing Peter' situation that is going on.
"So, I am thinking rose petals everywhere." Sammy got to planning.
"Brooklynn and I aren't exactly the rose petal kind of people," Yaz warned her. "You know, I was always fond of picnics."
"What's that?" Laura asks.
"Oh, its basically food you store and sit down on a blanket to eat it," Kenji recapped it for her.
"How is that any different than how we normally eat?" Laura asks.
"It's planned and not because you're stranded on an island with killer dinos," Yaz explained.
"But a picnic is just lunch on a blanket," Sammy told Yaz. "And I have a feeling Peter doesn't want to be reminded of... certain events."
Jeff gargled at them, seemingly trying to give his own input.
"Yeah, I have no idea what he just said," Kenji said.
"I think he is trying to say 'keep it simple'," Yaz took a guess.
Jeff did a little dance as he shook his tailfin around and bounced to show she was right.
"You're actually understanding him?" Sammy asks in surprise.
"Eh, it's his tone and movements that help, and watching Peter translate," Yaz admitted.
"Alright, then simple it is," Sammy said with glee. "This is going to be-"
That was when Peter came slamming onto the balcony, shocking everyone when they saw how exhausted he looked, crawling his way inside.
"Peter!" Yaz rushed over to his aid. "What happened?"
"You should see the other guy," Peter groaned as they helped him to the couch to sit. "The other guy in this case being a rampaging lizard in the sewers."
"A giant lizard?" Sammy asked in shock as he sat down. "How?"
"Dr. Connors," Peter groaned as he tried to heal. "The SM-6 I gave her to save her life... it had lizard DNA mixed into it."
"One of your father's experiments," Yaz guessed.
"It had regenerative properties, I just didn't remember there being lizard DNA." Peter groaned when he saw the box of stuff Sammy had. "What is all of this?"
"Oh, we were... planning a surprise date for ya'll, you know, to celebrate," Sammy explained.
Peter chuckled when he heard that. "Yeah, I guess I did act a bit harshly this morning. Sorry about that."
"Hey, you just took a beating from a lizard, I say that's more important than some misunderstanding right now," Yaz promised him, sitting aside and holding his hand. "You going to be okay?"
"Yeah, I am going to heal up and go check with Norman. He's helping me synthesize a possible antidote for Connors." Peter promised.
"Do we trust Norman?" Sammy wonders.
"For now, we need to hope he wants to save Connors," Peter sighed. "She needs me. I did this to her."
"You have got to stop blaming yourself," Yaz sighed.
Jeff gargled in agreement as he bounced over and cradled on Peter's lap for comfort.
"You know, you'd make a surprisingly good emotional support animal, Jeff," Peter said as he petted the mutated baby shark. "I just can't shake the feeling that Norman is doing something."
"Like what?" Kenji asks. "He works with my dad, whatever he's behind my dad would know."
"The same dad who works for the same company my dad was making experiments for?" Peter asks Kenji.
Kenji acted like this was some surprise, which isn't surprising seeing he hadn't put that together. "What are you talking about?"
"Come on, Kenji, open your eyes," Peter exclaimed, his voice laced with impatience as he stepped back, causing Jeff to hastily shuffle off his lap. The tension in the air thickened as Peter continued, "Manta Corp is desperate for experiments involving the Cross-Species. My father had access to Jurassic World, and the SM-6 was one of his projects, tucked away in a drawer right here. Plus, that V252 was made by Dr. Connors—she's on your dad's payroll."
"Wait, Connors made the V252?" Yaz's expression shifted, surprise evident on her face, mirroring the stunned looks of her friends.
"Yeah. I wanted to get her take on it when I realized she morphed into a rampaging lizard," Peter said, his gaze steady on Kenji. "Wake up, Kenji. Whatever your father is up to, it's intertwined with Norman's schemes."
"From what I've seen, Norman's just looking for a cure," Kenji replied, shrugging nonchalantly, trying to dismiss the gravity of Peter's words. "And my dad's helping him achieve that."
"At any cost, right?" Peter shot back, his voice rising slightly. "Or is it the other way around? Is Norman using your dad to get what he desires so he can find this elusive cure? He needs genetic splicing, Kenji. Your father has the perfect access to that. They only started collaborating after they lost contact with my dad and Jurassic World."
Kenji let out a dismissive scoff. "So what? How do we know it's Norman pulling the strings and that my dad is completely in the dark? Why are you so quick to paint my father as the villain?"
"Look around us!" Peter's voice was charged with urgency. "A clandestine island full of dinosaurs, no way to contact anyone to assure them we are alive, and your dad putting profits above our ability to go home—all of that could point to something sinister. Plus, his ties to Laura only deepen the mystery."
"Laura?" Kenji's gaze flicked over to her, curiosity piqued.
"Yeah," Peter continued, his tone growing somber. "Kash spilled the beans about her siblings—the ones who were experimented on and shipped from here to Isla Nublar. This was all before my dad died; before your father supposedly joined forces with OSCORP. Or was that just another of his fabrications that you so eagerly accepted?"
Kenji's frustration bubbled to the surface. "Whatever, man." His eyes narrowed in disbelief. "You wouldn't get it; you don't know what it's like to have a dad."
Peter's expression fell as the weight of Kenji's words hung in the air, silencing the group. He stared at Kenji with a mix of shock and hurt, unsure of what would unfold next.
"I mean, you've got it easy," Kenji pressed on, digging a deeper hole for himself. "With your cool powers, flashy suit, and the girls fawning over you. Your life is a dream while some of us never even got that kind of time with our parents."
"Kenji..." Yaz interjected, her tone cautious as she noticed Peter's temper flaring.
"Seriously?" Peter shot back, disbelief etched on his face. "I knew it! You're just jealous that Brooklynn picked me over you."
"Wait, what?" Sammy gasped, realizing the layers of tension. "He has a crush on—oh, now it makes sense."
"What do you want me to say, Kenji?" Peter confronted him, his voice steady yet simmering with frustration. "She chose me! I didn't demand that, it just happened. Why don't you go whine to your dad about it?"
With that, Peter stormed off, leaving Kenji muttering under his breath, "At least mine is still around."
The remark echoed in the silence, catching Peter's attention. Slowly, he turned back, his eyes narrowing. "What did you say?"
What happened next was so fast, that nobody could have seen it coming. Peter stretched a tendril out and shot Kenji through the doors and dangled him over the balcony. Kenji shrieked as he clung to the tendril as Peter marched over while everyone else was still in shock.
"Say it again, Rich Boy!" Peter dared him in anger. "Tell me how bad you have it with your mansion within a mansion and a bowling alley inside a bowling alley! Tell me how bad you have it because your father is alive and chooses not to love you and my dad sacrificed his life to save ours!"
"Peter!" Yaz and Sammy rushed over to calm him down. "Let him down!"
"Oh, I'm planning to!" Peter promised.
"Gently!" Yaz demanded him. "Stop this! Now!"
Peter looked over to Kenji and just snarled. He tossed Kenji onto the balcony and scoffed. "I am going to see if Norman perfected the serum." He then marched off. "And get some air."
Kenji rubbed his neck where the tendril was holding him and looked up to the others. "That was not cool, Kenji." Yaz broke to him.
"What?! He attacked me!" Kenji stated.
"You provoked him," Laura scoffed. "You do have that effect on people."
Peter stormed toward Norman, his frustration radiating like heat waves. "Is the serum ready yet?!"
Norman's eyes widened in surprise at Peter's abrupt arrival, and he offered a resigned shrug. "This is all I could manage to synthesize, so you'll only get one shot."
"That's all I need," Peter growled, extending a sinewy tendril from his back to snatch the vial containing the serum. His voice dripped with impatience as he pressed further. "Have you seen her?"
"I lost track of her in the sewer system of the jungle biome," Norman admitted, concern etched across his face.
"Then that's where I'll start," Peter snapped, marching away, his anger simmering beneath his skin like molten lava.
As he crawled back into the sewers, a deep groan escaped his lips. The damp, dark passages twisted around him, amplifying his fury as he hunted for the Lizard. Memories of Kenji's condescending remarks ignited a fire within him.
"Stupid Kenji, what does he know?" Peter muttered bitterly, his voice echoing off the grimy walls. "That rich kid thinks life is so tough just because his daddy didn't pay him any attention." He sneered the words dripping with sarcasm. "My old man barely noticed I existed for years, and I've turned out just fine—certainly not like some sleazy jerk."
Suddenly, a cacophony of clanging noises echoed in the distance. Rage surged through him, pushing him onward as he navigated the labyrinthine tunnels in search of her. He stumbled into a vast chamber where the Lizard wreaked havoc, obliterating BRADs with fierce swipes.
Peter's jaw dropped in disbelief. The Lizard had grown exponentially since their last encounter. Towering at 20 feet, her once-familiar form was transformed. Her slender figure was now adorned with bulging muscles, and her clothes had been shredded, leaving her powerful physique exposed. Her slimy green skin rippled with dark green stripes and light green accents, while her jaw had morphed into an iguana-like maw filled with razor-sharp fangs. Each of her massive arms now ended in colossal five-fingered claws, and her feet were similarly formidable. Her serpentine tail stretched as long as her body, covered in large tan spikes that jutted ominously along her head, back, tail, and forearms, plus a hanging dewlap that added to her menacing presence.
"Regeneration is so cool, but also super gross," Peter groaned, pulling the serum from his pocket. Just then, the Lizard sensed his presence and let out a thunderous roar. With a forced grin, he quipped, "Hey, doc, ready for your annual physical?"
Lizard then charged at him, this time being more animalistic and not as calculative as before. Her mind must be becoming more animalistic the further she shimmers into the creature.
"We've done this before, Connors!" Peter cried, trying to reach the human side of her like he did with Laura. "You're Carla Connors! A brilliant scientist! Fight this thing!"
Carla didn't seem to be getting through as the creature swiped, trying to attack him. Peter quickly dodged the attack, seeing that with the size, the creature had grown in speed.
"Carla, you have to fight!" Peter tried to get through to her again. "Think about Mae, is this how you want her to remember you?"
The lizard then charged, pinning Peter to the wall and dragging him across it, doing no damage since he was wearing the V252, and then tossed him onto the ground. Peter regained his footing grabbed the claws with his tendrils and pushed her away.
"Stop fighting me! I am trying to help you!" Peter cried. "I have the antidote!"
The lizard crawled the walls and seemed to be waiting for an opening as she pounced. Peter dodged the attack, but she then used the tail to swat Peter. He slammed into the wall but then used it to bounce off and charge at the Lizard, tackling it the best he could. He then shot out a few tendrils to keep it pinned. He then quickly drew the antidote, quickly preparing to inject her.
But then the lizard regained itself, spinning around and grabbing Peter in an instant, causing him to drop the serum. Peter quickly shot out sharp tendrils to cause the lizard to let him go. He then shot out more tendrils to keep her contained
"I've got you now!" Peter stated.
That was when the lizard let out a roar, causing it to then bounce off the sewers and shoot back like feedback and causing Peter to cry as the soundwaves were causing Peter to clutch his ears and the V252 to act crazy as its not a fan of loud noises. The lizard crawled out from the tendrils and rushed over to the gates where she pried them off and rushed down the tunnels.
"Oh, no you don't!" Peter cried, quickly chasing Carla down the tunnels.
When he did, the lizard tried to get away but Peter quickly used tendrils to latch on and ride along Lizard as it tried to get away. But in doing so, the lizard grabbed him, throwing him into the wall, and prepared to bite down on him.
Peter quickly grabbed her jaws, keeping them from chomping down on her. Peter then quickly shoved her off him, grabbing the serum and preparing to inject her again.
"This is gonna hurt you more than me!" Peter cried, trying to inject her.
But the lizard swatted his hand, causing Peter to drop the serum. He then shot out a tendril to try and keep her mouth closed as he tried to reach for it. But then the lizard let out a piercing screech that affected the V252 again. Peter was forced to let her go, using a tendril to grab the serum, and then launched himself to chase the lizard down the sewer systems again.
Lizard trashed its way through the sewers and found herself in another opening. This got Peter's attention as he leaped and tackled the Lizard again.
"Here it comes!" He tried to inject the serum, but the scales were too hard, and the constant BRADs attacking her evolved her into a stronger version of herself. Gotta hand it to Richard, when he makes a serum, it goes wrong in all the wrong ways. "I can't get through the scales!"
The Lizard roared as she spun around, swatting Peter off her back and sending him flying. He crashed into the wall and groaned, looking to see that the needle was stuck in her back. That was the only antidote he was getting, so he needed to be careful.
"Fine. I'm done being nice!" Peter exclaimed in anger. "If I have to hurt you to get yo to cooperate, I will!"
Peter then charged in and tackled her, trying to get her to stop. But she became more ferocious with her attacks, almost like a cornered animal flailing around trying to save herself.
"You're too weak to get control back, aren't you!" Peter cried, shooting a tendril to wrap around her mouth, slamming it into the ground, causing the lizard to grow dizzy. "You can't control yourself!"
Lizard rushed to the wall to try and escape, but Peter worked fast, shooting a web to latch onto her, yanking himself over and punching her several times. The lizard groaned as Peter then shot a web, yanking himself to kick her in the face before quickly sliding against the wall to dodge her jaws. He did a quick web and swung over, kicking lizard off the wall.
The two of them were growing increasingly tired. But with that came more flaring from the lizard, an animal trying everything to stop itself from being harmed. She then swung her tail at him, causing Peter to try and dodge it, followed by her using the screch to try and get Peter weaker.
"My ears can't take that again!" Peter cried in pain as Lizard rushed up the wall.
Rushing into the fight, Peter leaped and was grabbed, slammed into the wall, and tossed aside. Peter growled as he stretched a tendril that yanked the lizard off the wall. When she hit the ground, Peter rushed in, leaping and kicking Carla in the jaws, then grabbed her by the scales and slammed her into the ground.
"I can't do this forever!" Peter was getting irritated and growing more tired. Then he got an idea when he took the serum out. "If I can inject this into her gums, I can end this!"
Carls rushed at him while he was distracted, ending with him getting grabbed by her jaws and munching down. Peter screamed as he was then tossed aside, smacking into the ground. He looked down and saw the V252 was already hard at work healing the wounds. He growled as he was now getting sick of this, watching the Lizard charge in for another strike.
Ready to end this, Peter rushed in and kicked the lizard over, quickly holding her down with dozens of tendrils over the gates separating them from the sewers. He then stretched out even more tendrils that latched onto her mouth, forcing her to let out the ringing screech that harmed him. He then held the serum and prepared to end this.
"Time for your medicine!" Peter cried, swinging and injecting the serum through her gums.
That was when the grates gave out and the two of them fell into the sewers. The lizard kicked Peter back, sending him hurling through the water. When he hit the wall, he looked around and saw no sign of the lizard, but there was an unconscious Carla Connors. He quickly swam his way over and swam her up to the surface, seeing that she was unconscious but alive.
Carla stirred awake, a soft moan escaping her lips as she found herself nestled within the surreal confines of the waterfall hideout. The cascades of water glimmered in the faint light, yet her heart sank as she noticed the absence of her arm once again. A wave of relief washed over her, momentarily convincing her that the bizarre ordeal of transforming into a giant lizard had been nothing but a haunting dream.
However, that sense of reprieve shattered as a sinuous tendril slithered down from above, gracefully presenting her with a shirt. Carla's breath caught in her throat as she noticed Peter suspended from the ceiling, clad in the V252.
"So, it's true," she stammered, a chill creeping down her spine. "It's the V252. I should have recognized it from the very beginning. Where in the world did you get that?"
"My dad," Peter replied, flipping gracefully from his perch. "Mr. Osborn said you designed it."
Carla's eyes widened in astonishment, and her mind raced back to the labs. "Follow me," she urged her voice a mixture of urgency and excitement.
With quick strides, she led Peter to a bank of computers, the glow of their screens illuminating the area with an otherworldly hue. She opened a drawer and pulled out a rugged chunk of rock, dropping it onto the table with a muted thud.
"What is that?" Peter asked, his brow furrowed in curiosity.
"It's a fragment of a meteorite that crash-landed just outside of New York years ago," Carla explained, her eyes sparkling with the thrill of discovery. "That's where we found… that." She gestured toward the V252 with a sense of awe. "It came from the meteorite."
Peter's breath hitched as he glanced down at the fabric encasing him. "You mean… I'm wearing… an alien?!" The shock registered on his face even through the mask, the gravity of the revelation dawning upon him. The air around them pulsed with a new reality, one woven with the threads of the unknown.
"We called it a Symbiote," Carla explained. "It seemed to enhance the genetic structure of any host it bonded to. Bonding to the sub-cellular level with its host. It came to you?"
"More or less," Peter shrugged. "I was hurt, and then it-"
"It chose you," Carla said in shock. "It found and chose you. Richard was wrong. It's more dangerous than we could've imagined. We need to destroy that thing. Get it off of you and destroy it."
"Destroy... us?" Peter asks in an emotionless tone.
Carla was reaching to grab a sedative, willing to immediately do what needed to be done when she heard his tone. She slowly turned as Peter used a tendril to grab the sedative and smash it against the wall. Carla began to whimper as she didn't know how deep this had gone.
"You said it chose me, Doc," Peter said, approaching Carla. "It makes me a better Spider-Man."
Carla began to panic as she stepped back, tripping and falling over and catching herself on a table. When she looked back, she saw there was no sign of Peter anywhere. She climbed back up, unharmed but was concerned where Peter was going.
"Oh, god..." Carla said in fear.
As Norman sat in silence, his gaze remained fixed on the glowing screen of his tablet, the soft beeping drawing his attention to a live feed from the depths of the forest biome. The vibrant greens and browns flickered as a figure darted through the trees, revealing a striking juxtaposition on the interface: one switch illuminated a human silhouette, while another pulsed with the outline of a menacing lizard. It dawned on him—he wasn't merely concocting a serum to save Dr. Connors; he had developed a formula using nanites that granted him the power to manipulate her transformation at will, allowing him to dictate when and how she would shift into the fearsome Lizard.
"What do you know?" he exclaimed, a mixture of disbelief and intrigue washing over him as he discovered that Peter had managed to save her. The boy's faith that Norman had acted with pure intentions both startled and intrigued him. "The boy did it," he mused, a smirk curling at the corners of his lips.
With that revelation, Norman realized he now held a powerful Cross-Species in his grasp, a living embodiment of his scientific ambition and a dangerous pawn under his control. His heart raced at the thrilling possibilities that lay ahead.
As the sun hung low in the sky, casting golden hues over the bustling scene, Nick Fury strode purposefully toward a fleet of sleek Quinjets and several rugged S.H.I.E.L.D.-issued boats bobbing gently in the water. The air was thick with tension and anticipation. Maria Hill hurried over, her brow furrowed with concern as she caught up to Fury and Phil Coulson.
"Sir, are we certain this is the right call?" Hill asked, her voice laced with uncertainty.
Fury paused, his steely gaze fixed on the horizon. "Given the strange creatures prowling on Nublar and the faint possibility that someone might still be alive there, we owe it to ourselves to investigate," he replied, his tone resolute as he boarded the boat, the engine rumbling to life beneath him.
Coulson shook his head in disbelief. "How could anyone have survived on that island for the last six months?" he pondered aloud, the weight of the question hanging in the air.
"Survivalists with skills beyond our imagination, or just plain damn lucky," Fury guessed, his mind racing with possibilities. "Let's ask them when we find them."
With a sense of urgency and determination, they climbed into the vehicles, engines whirring to life, and set off across the water, the thrill of the unknown driving them toward the island that had once thrived as Jurassic World. The thrill of adventure mingled with the fear of what they might uncover, as they ventured forth into the uncharted darkness of both land and heart.
