shouldIusemyrealname - A little bit, yes. That scene was always gonna happen, I just altered it a little with inspiration from that new clip from the new Superman.
Carla began to work on getting the chips removed from the dinosaurs while they were unconscious. It was difficult due to her having one arm, but with Ben's help, it was easier.
Sammy and Laura brought Rebel and Angel back to the winter biome so they could be safe. Kenji freed Toro from his chip, smashing the controller. They were all free.
Now everyone was at the watering hole, looking out to the dinosaurs who were all living in peace like they weren't just fighting each other the other day.
They were all safe.
Peter and Laura were now dressed in more casual clothes as their uniforms were torn to shreds, and they needed better clothes to wear.
"I can't believe that we are doing this," Peter told the others. "Just hanging with the dinosoars after everything we have been through."
"Yeah, kinda surreal, isn't it?" Yaz said.
Kenji sat aside them and Peter looked to Yaz, trying to imply he wanted to talk to Kenji alone. She seemed to get the hint as she stood up and started to take a walk around the area. She even gave a whistle to get Jeff to follow.
"Come on, Jeff!" Yaz called.
Jeff jumped up with a bounce as he rushed over to chase Yaz.
"Uh, listen-"
"I wanted to say-"
The two of them ended up talking at the same time.
"Sorry, you were saying?" Kenji asked Peter.
"Look, I said a few hurtful things to you, and I am sorry," Peter told Kenji. "A part of me does want to say it was mostly the Symbiote, but... it was mostly things that I just left unsaid."
Kenji nodded. "I get it, man. I also said a few things that I shouldn't have said. And the sad thing is that most of what you said was true. Your dad was the real deal. A good father who actually cared about his kid. When push came to shove, he cared more about his kid rather than himself or his name."
"Yeah, he might have been absent, but he cared." Peter nodded, looking over to Kenji. "Sorry."
"It's alright, man," Kenji said as he raised his fist. "So... we cool?"
Peter gave a slight smile and a fist bump. "We're cool."
They then heard beeping in the distance, wondering what it was. They saw it was the tablet and looked to see it is the drone, alerting them someone was coming. Everyone was worried on what this could mean, making their way to the docks and watched a loen boat making its way over and parking in the docks.
They watched in fear as they saw someone stepped off the boat, he looked intimidating when he walked off with a trench coat and eyepatch. But then they gasped when they saw that Dave and Roxie were getting off along with Mae. Then they watched Brandon walk over and get off the boat with a few dozen armed soldiers.
Darius gasped when he recognized his older brother. "Brand?" He then slid his way down the hill, making it quicker ot the docks. "Brand!"
"Darius?" Brandon heard his brother and gasped when he saw him. "Darius!"
Brandon raced ahead, rushing past the soldiers. They were about to tell him off, but Fury raised his hand to stop them. He allowed Brandon to run ahead, and they engulfed into a hug. Carla slid down and rushed when she saw Mae, the two of them reuniting. The other campers rushed ahead, engulfing their camp counselors.
"Kids!" Roxie was more than happy to see them okay.
"When I told you to get out of your room more, I did not mean this," Brand told his younger brother, looking at his necklace. "Dad would've been so proud of you, D. We all are."
They then hugged, watching a dozen more ships coming over to the shore and beginning to unload their agents, rushing ahead and setting a perimeter up, unaware that they had everything together.
"Wow, all of this for six kids?" Laura asked as she stepped ahead.
"Hello." Roxie and Dave had never met her before; it seemed they were confused to see her.
"Uh, did you guys pick up a friend?" Dave asked the group.
"This is Laura... my sister," Peter told them with a smile.
Laura offered a friendly smile to the group as Jeff then bounced on over, pushing past Laura. A few soldiers aimed at the shark, but the kids jumped in. "No!" "Wait!" "He's with us!"
Jeff rushed over to Fury and stopped right at his feet, panting and waving his tail around him. He offered a yip as he bounced off, running around Fury in glee. Fury looked down at the shark and sighed when he saw it. "This is my life..."
"We're happy to see you kids are all right," Coulson said as he and Hill left the boat. "What do you say we get you home?"
"I bet you have quite the story to tell us," Hill said.
"You wouldn't believe half of it," Yaz said with a chuckle.
About half an hour later, they were on a boat heading for the mainland. Mae and Carla stayed behind on the island with a swarm of S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel, including Fury, who wanted to see what was going on with the island. The kids and Carla gave them the basics about the changes they made, and they ensure the kids that S.H.I.E.L.D. has no want to weaponize their creatures. In fact, they wanted to keep the island secure to study the animals in their environment, with the expertise of the two scientists who worked on it. They also made sure that when Kon landed, he would be arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel. They didn't tell them anything about Laura or Peter's abilities. That was a need to know for them.
"It's finally happening," Brooklynn said with a smile. "We are going home."
"Yep," Peter said with a sigh, watching the island disappear in the distance. "After all this time... it's going to be weird going home after all of this like everything was normal." He then looked down at Jeff, who was sitting in his lap, purring like a cat. "Well... mostly normal."
Yaz chuckled as she petted Jeff. "They give you the chance to call your folks yet?"
"Nah, I thought it would be best to let everyone else go first," Peter said, hesitation flooding his eyes.
Yaz seemed to recognize that fear in his eyes. "You don't know what to say. Do you?"
"How do you explain this?" Peter asks. "Everything we have done... it's so unbelievable."
"I think that she would be just happy to hear you're alive," Yaz said.
Coulson then walked over to them and held the phone to Peter. "They said you're the last one. You have an aunt left. Wanna give her a call?"
Peter looked over to Yaz, who offered a smile and grasped his shoulder. "Can you do it?"
Peter nodded as he reached out and grasped the phone tightly from Yaz's hand, his heart racing as he dialed May's number, hoping beyond hope that she hadn't changed it since the last time he had memorized it. The anticipation clawed at him as the phone rang, each tone feeling like a drumbeat echoing in his chest.
"Hello?" May Parker's voice broke through the silence, and Peter felt as if time itself had frozen. It had been nearly a year since he had heard that voice—a voice that held echoes of warmth and comfort.
"Hello?" she prompted again, confusion lacing her words. "Who is this?"
"May?" Peter finally managed to find his voice, a tremor of disbelief running through him. "It's… It's me. It's Peter."
On the other end of the line, May stood in her dimly lit living room, the weight of exhaustion hanging heavy on her shoulders. Her heart sank at the sound of his name. "My nephew has been dead for almost a year. Please don't call here again." The words were sharp, a painful reminder of her grief.
Desperation surged within Peter. "May, please, don't hang up. Just listen to my voice." He could sense her hesitation, and for the first time in a long while, he spoke with unwavering conviction. "It's me. I didn't die on Nublar; I survived." His eyes glistened with unshed tears as he cast a glance at Yaz, who was smiling knowingly at her boyfriend, an unspoken bond of hope passing between them. "We survived."
Hope fluttered cautiously in May's heart as she absorbed his words, her breath hitching in her throat. Tears brimmed in her eyes as she let out a sob, relief and disbelief flooding her senses as she dropped down on her couch in shock. "Peter, is that you?"
Peter's heart swelled, tears cascading down his cheeks as joy mixed with sorrow. "Yeah, May, it's me. Please don't hang up, okay?"
"No, no, I won't," May promised, sinking into her chair and allowing the flood of emotions to wash over her. "Oh, sweetie... Is… is your father…?"
The question hung heavy in the air, and Peter's smile faltered as memories of his father rushed back, filling him with both grief and fondness. "No, Dad didn't make it."
May's heart ached for the loss of Richard while simultaneously rejoicing that Peter was safe. "Oh, sweetie, I can't imagine what you must have been through." The thought of all he had endured would have made him chuckle if it weren't for the tears spilling down his face. "Where are you?"
"I am… not really sure, but I'm on a boat right now. They said they would send some people to bring you to where we are docking… and we're… we're coming home. I'm coming home… I love you, May." The words spilled from him, each syllable soaked in longing and love.
Emotions surged through May, and she broke down, tears streaming down her face—a cathartic release of nearly a year's worth of pent-up sorrow. "I love you too, Peter," she promised, her voice trembling with emotion.
In that moment, a wave of relief washed over them both. Despite the darkness they had faced, the light of hope shone through. It was finally over; they were all going home.
Making it to the mainland, seemed like the news got word of their survival as there were dozens of news reporters waiting for them as they made it to shore with a dozen S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel keeping the reporters off the docks. Yaz's mom was there, Sammy's dad was seen, Darius's mom, and Ben's mother. And then Peter saw her. His aunt. His last relative.
They docked, and they wasted no time jumping off the boat, rushing their way over to their families. They didn't even say a word to each other. They all embraced their loved ones, happy to see one another alive again. Kenji was on his own, but Darius had him meet his mother, and it didn't take much convincing for him to begin to join their family.
Peter kept hugging May when they heard a gargle, getting them to look down and see Jeff sitting on the dock, waving his tongue around. May let out a shriek of surprise, but Peter calmed her down quickly, showing Jeff wasn't a threat and was a friend. May reached down and petted the shark, who purred into the sensation, happy to be accepted.
Peter went around, and there was no sign of Laura. "Laura?"
"Where is she?" Kenji wondered.
They searched the docks, seeing no sign of their friend. Then they glanced over to the rocky shores and saw Laura standing among them. They were surprised to see her there but wondered why. Laura didn't say much, not that they heard if she did, and she simply offered a friendly wave before walking into the jungle.
"Where is she going Darius wondered.
Peter smiled, having an idea of where she was heading. "Home."
Laura walked into the distance, using a phone that she swiped one of the S.H.I.E.L.D. personnel to make her way to Canada, where they found a possible facility where she was born. The phone also had the numbers everyone dialed, so she knew how to get back in touch with everyone when the time came. For now, she was focused on uncovering as much about her past as possible.
On the island, the V252 was scurrying away when suddenly it was encased in a vial. Raising it up, Coulson looked at the vial and contacted Fury. "I don't know what it is, sir."
Fury looked at the footage and saw that the creature seemed alive. "Send it to the tech team. See if they can figure out what it is."
The V252 was alive... and it was mad.
"I used to think I knew everything there was to know about dinosaurs. The truth is, it was only after I stopped reading about them and I started living amongst them that I realized I had so much more to learn. As strange as it may seem, dinosaurs aren't all that different from you and me. At their core, they need the same things we do. Food, shelter, and even safety. But most of all, they're part of something bigger than themselves, just like we are. Whether we forge our own path or travel in herds, no one of us is truly alone. And at the end of the day, all of us, dinosaurs and humans alike, are in this together. The world can be a scary place. And sometimes, things fall apart. No one knows that more than the Nublar Eight. But how we survived, how we'll all survive, is by working together, trying to understand each other, and leaving things better than we found them. Thank you."
This was a video of Darius giving a presentation two years after they had returned to the mainland.
All around the world, and they still managed to figure out ways of keeping in touch. Since Brooklynn was able to travel often with her videos, it wasn't so difficult for her to get around. But the others had to rely on constant call communications they have all agreed on for a daily basis.
Kenji and Darius were together in the bedroom as they made the call, reaching out to Sammy first, who surprisingly had Laura with her. Ever since she began to search for her siblings, she searched for a year before giving it a break when the trail went cold.
"Hey, guys, how is Texas?" Darius asked.
"It's okay, I guess," Laura said. "I am not sure how I feel about all this heat."
"You kidding?" Kenji asks. "You lived on an island."
"And it wasn't this hot," Laura scoffed. "But Sammy's family is nice enough. Still haven't told them I am a Mutant, we are saving that for another occasion."
"And how are your trips going?" Darius wonders. "Any new leads?"
Laura sighed. "I reluctantly reached out to my other genetic donor, the Wolverine."
"She means Logan," Sammy explained. "In case that wasn't clear."
"His X-Men friends got me a name that was part of the Weapon X program. Zander Rice." Laura told them. "They said they would reach out if they get anything out of it. I even sent the name to Brooklynn to see if she comes across the name anywhere."
"And in our spare time, I've been teaching her to lasso," Sammy said.
"I prefer to hunt, not wrangle my enemies," Laura said in a stern voice.
Sammy nodded her head, in what they had to say looked like fear as she seemed to agree with Laura. She wasn't one known for her subtlety.
Then another joined, only for them to see Bumpy. Then, Ben came into the screen, giving Bumpy a light push. "Bumpy, get out of the way. Hey, guys."
"Ben, I still cant believe your parents allowed you to spend the summer on our secret island." Sammy said.
"Well, I just calmly explained that I'm practically an adult who can make his own decisions," Ben said.
Carla and Mae then walked over to the camera. "And I called them," Mae said.
"And we assured them that S.H.I.E.L.D. would benefit from the knowledge he learned living amongst them," Carla said.
"Sammy, thanks for that last shipment of meat," Mae said. "Obviously appreciated."
"Anything to help," Sammy said.
Then they saw a dinosaur doing something, running away. "Ooh. Bye! Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye."
"Super cool of you to keep this place up and running, Kenj," Ben said.
"You guys are doing all the work. Like, I just pay the bills." Kenji replied.
Then, Brooklynn finally joined them. "Hey, I only have a sec. I'm chasing down a lead."
Sammy squealed. "You go, Esther Stone!"
"Yeah, it's just so weird," Brooklynn said. "Darius, have you heard of the Lockwood Estate? It's a little ways north of you."
"No. Why?" Darius said.
"They're saying that dinosaurs have somehow..." Brooklynn stopped herself. "Look, I, I don't wanna say any more until I have some real facts. It's probably just a prank. Just keep your eyes open."
"Will do," Darius said.
"Hey, where's Yaz and Peter?" Darius wonders.
And then there was one. Peter's screen came online, showing he was using his phone to talk, and he was in the bustling city of New York. Yaz was beside him and rolled her eyes at his entrance.
"Ladies and gentlemen, you love him, you hate him, Spider-Man is here!"
Brooklynn rolled her eyes and rubbed her head while Yaz only giggled. "If I break up with him, I can keep Yaz, right?"
"Hey, you knew he was obnoxious when you got into this relationship," Yaz warned her.
"Obnoxious?" Peter asks. "I am not obnoxious."
"You are, sweetie," Yaz was sorry to say.
"How is the Big Apple, Yaz?" Brooklynn asks.
"Oh, it is lively, to say the least," Yaz said. "I mean, how many attacks happen in this city on a daily basis?"
"In my defense, I didn't think that Ultron would try to invade the Avengers' Tower when we went to see it," Peter told her.
"Oh, but swinging over to the Statue of Liberty was amazing!" Yaz said with an exhilarated tone.
"How did you manage that?" Ben wonders.
"It involves a slingshot and Yaz gripping you tightly," Peter said.
"He almost missed," Yaz informed them.
"Hey, you said you weren't going to bring that up," Peter told her.
"Yeah, but you know me. I lie," Yaz replied. "But no, it is amazing here, and Peter even took me to this place, Mick's, it was amazing."
"Oh, yeah, those fries were amazing!" Brooklynn remembered when she visited there. "And the owner was so nice. What was his name again?"
"Stan, he loved meeting you," Peter told Brooklynn.
"And the colleges around here actually have some great sport psychology programs," Yaz said. "And the people down at the F.E.A.S.T. shelter are so nice."
"Mr. Li loves her," Peter admitted with a giggle. "And the people there really love Jeff. He is like their own support animal slash mascot."
"Oh, I see how it is," Brooklynn scoffed with a smile. "He is picking favorites."
"I think he liked you. Mostly," Peter muttered. They then heard sirens off in the distance, getting the two to look at the phone alerts. "Looks like we've gotta go. Scorpion is on a rampage."
"Scorpion?" Ben was confused to hear. "Didn't we-"
"Not that Scorpion," Peter sighed. "This one is a new guy. Mac Gargan. Good ol' JJ hired him to kill me and put him in an unstable armor to match me."
"I still can't believe you choose to work for that guy," Brooklynn scoffs. "I wouldn't be able to stand it."
"Yeah, well, maybe I will get that interview with Dr. Octavius," Peter said, looking on the bright side. "Maybe he will give me a job, and I could quit the Bugle."
"I gotta go. Call you tonight, guys." Brooklynn said, signing off.
"Okay, real quick, I love you, guys," Sammy said. "Care packages are on the way. Camp fam for life!"
"Bye!" Laura said.
"See you all next week!" Kenji said as everyone was signing off.
"Bye, everyone!"
"Bye!"
How many times do you have to see the evidence? How many times must the point be made?
After dealing with Scorpion, Peter and Yaz made it back to May's home. They walked in the door and saw she was staring at the television in shock.
"Hey, May, how was work?" Peter asked, but noticed May wasn't listening. "May?"
They then walked over, seeing the news was reporting on dinosaurs on the loose on the main land. The two of them gasped when they saw that the dinosaurs had reached the mainland. They were here and they were loose amongst the rest of the world.
We're causing our own extinction. Too many red lines have been crossed.
People were running in terror from a Baryonyx before suddenly Iron Man came flying down and slammed into the ground, using a sonic blast to spook the dinosaur. It let out a roar, running off into the jungle.
And our home has, in fundamental ways, been polluted by avarice and political megalomania.
A.I.M. was running through the forest, agents trying to capture the one-of-a-kind raptor left alive. Blue. She, however, was faster and smarter than them. She picked them off one by one.
Genetic power has now been unleashed, and of course, that's gonna be catastrophic.
A pterodactyl came down, preparing to scoop up some prey, when it was attacked by a flying projectile that harmed its claws. Then it was revealed to be the hero Moon Knight, who leaped in, wrapping up the legs, yanking it to the ground, and slamming the pterodactyl into the ground.
This change was inevitable from the moment we brought the first dinosaur back from extinction.
Wilson Fisk was sitting behind his mayoral desk when someone walked over and opened a case in front of him. Inside the case was some sort of amulet that looked ancient.
We convince ourselves that sudden change is something that happens outside the normal order of things, like a car crash, or that it's beyond our control, like a fatal illness.
Namor the Submarriner was on his throne when he looked up and saw the Mossasorus make its way down upon his kingdom.
We don't conceive of sudden, radical, irrational change as woven into the very fabric of existence. Yet, I can assure you, it most assuredly is. And it's happening now. Humans and dinosaurs are now gonna be forced to coexist. These creatures were here before us. And if we're not careful, they're gonna be here after.
Peter and Yaz looked at one another and back to the television and knew that this could be catastrophic for the future of the world. But what was worse was that Yaz started to panic slightly at the idea. She was finally getting used to the idea of dinosaurs being in the past, but now they were still around. And there was no way to escape now. They were now living amongst them.
We're gonna have to adjust to new threats that we can't imagine. We've entered a new era.
WELCOME TO JURASSIC WORLD...
Deadpool then stepped into the room, wearing Ferris Bueller's robe as he walked over towards the reader in surprise. He looked around in confusion. "You're still here? It's over. Get out of here. Go outside. Get off that computer and touch some real grass. Or even better, go touch another human being. Not without their consent, of course; we are told not to encourage that kind of behavior." He then walked back to where he came from. "I mean, what, were you expecting a teaser for Secret Wars 3? Nah, not for this group. This world is more self-contained. Don't expect them to be in a Secret Wars story. I mean, maybe a brief cameo. And they will make an appearance in that Big Hero 6 story that the author is still writing at the time of this chapter's release. But that might or might not be canon to this story, depending on how it goes. But keep a lookout for that. That's gonna be fun." He then made his way around the corner and made his way into the conjoined room.
Then he came back and stuck his head out before walking back over. "Alright! Fine, you know what? I will put in a word for the author to give you one more chapter after my remark in my story about how 'nobody knew or liked Camp Cretaceus'. This would be a teaser for the next story. Oh, yeah, you like that news, don't ya? We're going to stick this timeline into Chaos Theory. I don't wanna tell you much, but I will tell you a few small things. The sequel is going to include a surprise character, someone I bet you wouldn't expect. And a few ones I bet you were expecting. Like Kingpin, Tombstone is gonna make an appearance- oh, and Venom. Can't forget the slimy, 19-inch man himself. And it's going to be a whole lot more fun. For you, at least, the readers, not for the people who are about to go through these traumatic events. I mean, seriously. You guys can't settle for happily ever after. Oh, and one more thing before I go. There is a twist coming. I won't spoil the twist, you know how I roll. But trust me, it will be a shock. Or maybe not. Who's to say? Some of you might guess it right away; some of you may not. Anyway, I gotta go. I have a meeting at the TVA to get to. Some big threat is coming to destroy the multiverse. So, I gotta go warm up my glutes for that crossover." He then sighed as he walked off again. "Oh, and expect the next one to be a slight bit more adult. Not a lot, but enough. I mean, we got Peter into a threesome relationship here. Who knows what that might lead to? The author is trying to work on more mature writing, but he is only tapping his toes in the water with that Kombat story. So, who knows? Maybe he will grow a pair and give you some action between the three of them. Don't expect it, though. Likely not happening. But who knows? Never say never. Okay, see ya, I'll put in that word for you."
Then he came right back. "Okay, you know what, I will tell you the title for the sequel and let you be on your way. BIG TEXT, HAVE AT IT!"
They will return in...
WEB OF CHAOS
