It took a couple of months, but Steven was finally ready for the road. Greg had taken him to get his license, in finishing his hour granted him permission to do so. Despite Greg's overwhelming joy that Steven could be on the road by himself, without him in the car, he was also extremely nervous. What if something terrible happened? He is his only son. The last bit of family he has, besides his brother.

Andy actually came and visited Steven and Greg while Steven was just ten hours away from his license. Steven was overjoyed to see his uncle again, in which his uncle was shocked he grew so fast. Greg had to explain that it happened overnight, and that they had to take him clothes shopping the day he got taller. It gave him a few looks in town, but he found more stars and quickly accepted those. Andy was grateful to see his nephew again, but said he had to hit the road again, in which he joked and said sky, and left, after a couple hours of visiting.

Steven was extremely excited to be on the road by himself, and even offered to get some groceries for his dad by himself. Greg was hesitant, but allowed him to go to the store. Despite it being just a few minutes away to walk, and a particularly small store, Greg gave him permission to use his car.

Greg had gotten Steven a key for the car, in which he handed him his duplicate. "Here you go, Schtu-ball!" he said, handing Steven the key.

"The keys?" Steven asked.

"That's right!" Greg cheered.

"Why?" Steven asked.

"You're mature enough now, Steven," Greg replied, rubbing his neck. "It's my extra pair, so, just be careful with it, alright?"

Steven smiled and hugged his dad, startling him with his quick reaction. "Thanks, dad!" Greg pat Steven's arm. "Anytime, kiddo."

Steven had taken Amethyst out of town a couple of times. She claimed she wanted to see how good of a driver he really was, but not until after Pearl was convinced by Greg that Steven was a natural. She had insisted herself to be in the car as well with Steven. She was surprised at how natural he was at the wheel, then gave Amethyst permission to be in the car.

Amethyst really had no reason to go in the car with Steven. She mostly sat in the passenger's seat, asked him a million questions, like usual, and ate snacks in the car. Once, she did want to stop on the hill outside of Beach City. Steven and Amethyst just sat on the hill, stared at the stars, and talked to each other.

Even Connie was impressed with Steven's driving, claiming that her mother won't let her drive until she turns sixteen. She said she read the manual cover to cover about four times, in which Steven was impressed with her.

Steven was working with his dad today at the car wash, so Pearl took that opportunity. "Garnet?" she asked in the kitchen. Garnet likes to cook food for Steven, but she's not in the kitchen at the moment. "Garnet?" she asked, walking into the Burning Room in the temple. "Garnet?" she asked again. Still no sign of her. She walked out and onto the beach. "Garnet?" she asked outside.

Garnet is sitting cross legged on the ground. "Garnet, there you are!" Pearl called. She walked up to her, then sat on the ground with her. "Garnet, can I ask you a question?"

"Go ahead," Garnet replied.

"It's kind of a stupid question really," Pearl continued. Garnet sat in silence. "You know what, it's not important," Pearl said, standing. "It's stupid."

"Pearl," Garnet said. "Sit down."

Pearl sat down. She stared at Garnet, then sighed. "Garnet, I trust Steven. You know that," she started. She paused for a moment. "I'm just really worried."

"About him driving?" Garnet checked.

Pearl nodded. "I'm really worried something bad is going to happen to him. I keep getting this feeling and I don't know why."

"Hmm..." Garnet said. She put her hands in her knees, then closed her eyes, despite her eyes being invisible behind her glasses. There was an uncomfortable silence before Garnet spoke again. "I don't see any futures where Steven's driving could be a problem."

"Are you sure?" Pearl asked.

"Confident," Garnet said. "However, if anything changes, I will let you know."

"Thank you, Garnet," Pearl said, a weak smile on her face.

Steven came back to the temple later that day. "Ah, busy day at the car wash today," he said, opening the door, then stretching in the doorway. He closed the door behind him. "Hey, Pearl!"

"Oh, Steven!" Pearl called. "How was it?"

"The car wash?" Steven asked. "Busy. Apparently a lot of people wanted to try my dad's new wax he got today. All of the car washes in the area were sent wax to use." He looked at Pearl. "Pearl, you okay?" he checked.

"What?" she asked. "Oh, yeah, I'm fine!" she lied. Steven stared at her with his usual look. The look that read, I don't believe you, I know there's something wrong. "Are you sure?" he asked.

"Yes, most definitely," Pearl replied, faking a smile. Steven stared at her with the same expression for a moment. "Alright," he said grudgingly. "I'm going to bed." He yawned. "See you in the morning, Pearl."

"You too, Steven," Pearl said.

Garnet came to Pearl a couple of hours later. "Pearl," she whispered, keeping her voice low. "Pearl, I saw something."

"You did?" Pearl asked, worried.

"I didn't see Steven, but I saw something else," Garnet said. "Something big."

"Steven is safe?" Pearl whispered.

"Yes," Garnet said.

"What's coming?" Pearl asked.

"A meteor," Garnet said. "The rubies in space. The one Steven called 'Eyeball.' She is going to get angry, and smash an asteroid. A large piece of it is going to fall on Beach City."

"Oh dear," Pearl said. "We have to warn people!"

"No, we have to stop it," Garnet said.

"How?" Pearl asked.

"Alexandrite," Garnet said. "I watched with the other fusions. None of the others worked."

"Why not Obsidian?" Pearl asked.

"I...I don't know," Garnet said.

"Should we tell Amethyst?" Pearl asked.

"Not now," Garnet said. "We can tell her when she gets back."

"Where is she?" Pearl asked.

"She's playing in the water," Garnet replied.

Pearl clapped her hands together. Something doesn't feel right. This meteor. Alexandrite. Obsidian, missing. And Steven. Steven was no where to be seen in Garnet's visions. Something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong. And she didn't know what.

"Thank you, Garnet," Pearl said. Garnet nodded, then walked to the door, opening to the Burning Room.
