ACT 2:
INT. PUTNEY'S WAXWORKS (ENTRANCE FLOOR) - 09:46 PM
As the evening continues, Simon has dragged you and Elise throughout the shop, retelling the stories of this murderer
here, that victim there. Elise is hanging on to his every word, laughing and jesting; but all you can think of is the
creature below. Suddenly, you feel a delicate hand on your back.
ELISE
Are you alright Y/N?
YOU
Sorry Ellie, I seem to have dozed
off for a moment.
You met Elise at University two years before. When you arrived at The University of London, you thought you were the
only woman there. It was difficult to make friends- in fact, it was impossible. All the male students stared at you, and
made little effort to welcome you in. The professors were the same. During that time, housing was scarce, especially for
women seeking education. Fortunately, you had befriended a baker who had offered you a place to stay. In exchange you
were to have tea with him every morning at seven o'clock sharp, which you were very happy with.
One morning after your early morning tea session, you found yourself late to your lecture. As you exited the cab outside
the university and began to run, you stopped. You just stood there. Among all the students who refused to speak to you,
all the professors who pretended you didn't exist when your hand was raised, you thought to yourself; might it not be
better to simply turn around and leave. In any case, what was an university experience, if but alone? As you were about to
leave back the way you came, a woman's voice called out. You turned back around and saw the woman quickly making her way
down the university stairs. That was the day you met Elise, and after that, you two became inseparable. Perhaps it was
due to the fact that you two were the only women there, but you didn't care. She was your best friend, and you hers.
That was all that mattered.
ELISE
Perhaps we should get you something to drink. Do they sell
sherry ports here? Where's the bar?
YOU
I believe it's by the lobby.
ELISE
Perfect, I'll get you a sherry port. Simon do you want any?
SIMON
I'll come with you, Can't have a woman buying me drinks,
now can I?
Simon and Elise heads towards the bar to grab the drinks. You stand there for a moment and decide to explore alone for a
bit, since- I'll get you x, y, z -always meant she'd be gone for more than it ought to. You walk around glancing at the recreations
of death, and "all things morbid" when the creature comes to mind again. You decide that it is time to go down there.
INT. PUTNEY'S WAXWORKS (BETWEEN ENTRANCE FLOOR AND BASEMENT
FLOOR) - 10:01 PM
As you make your way down the steps, the temperature seems to drop. Goosebumps creep across your skin, and a wave of dread
surges through you. Around you, people are heading back up. A seemingly intoxicated couple makes their way past you.
DRUNK WOMAN
Did you see his face? How scary!
(leaning into the man)
Won't you accompany me tonight, I am oh so very scared?
DRUNK MAN
(putting his hand on the woman's lower back)
I'll protect you dear, besides, he's in a cell,
he can't hurt you...
As they swiftly continue up the stairs you suddenly find yourself at the very bottom. With your hand still on the
railing, you discover yourself unable to move, as if an invisible wall has appeared before you, stopping you from
moving an inch further. As the last people disappear at the top of the stairway, you realize you are the only one left
now.
The basement floor is decorated with sinister props and trinkets. The walls on the right are covered in red spatter, and on
them hang bones and upside-down crosses among other things with the purpose to unnerve and frighten. On the left, there
hangs mirrors with black-painted frames and lanterns in between them shining a pathway onto the cobblestoned floor.
At the very end of the corridor, there stands a cell, however, it is too far away to tell what might reside within it. But you
know. After what seems like an eternity, you find the strength to take a step. You take one, then another, and then another.
Then, as if you've found the secret to teleportation, you stand in front of the cell door, and behind it, the man you have come for.
END OF ACT 2.
Just to be absolutely clear, I have no ownership over characters/ storylines which pertain to, and is under the ownership of, Penny Dreadful (It's creators that is i suppose)
Another thing I would like to mention is that I was recently told by a friend that I am using the term "Act 1,2,3...". So I would just like to be clear that I am aware that it is very different from chapters (eventhough i'll be continuing to use them in the future). Basically, Act... means Chapter!
