It was around 2AM when Relon last checked the clock. At midnight he had claimed Sparkle and only half an hour later they had obtained Siobhan. Now they were just awaiting the arrival of Sunday and Robin.
The tv was now rerunning some random show but no one was giving it the time of day. All the three were doing was basking in the coziness their cuddle session had created.
The amount of cuddling felt like a rush of meth to the boy. He knew he needed to find Rappa and hurry back to Silver Wolf but having the petite gremlin now blatantly snuggled against his slumped chest and Siobhan's form half smothering his side, he had no intentions of getting up.
Then it happened; the inevitable.
The doorbell rang.
In unison, the biggest groan of the three came from Sparkle. Given she was literally curled on him and partially Siobhan, not to mention it was her place, meant she had to get the door.
"I don't wanna!"
"We've relaxed enough," Relon sighed, honestly the teeniest bit miffed at their comfort coming to a close so soon as it had started.
"That actually felt nice too," Siobhan stretched. "We'll have to do more of that when we're home."
"Definitely!" Both Sparkle and Relon beamed.
In a fluid motion, Sparkle hopped off his lap backflipping over Relon like a gymnast before making for the door.
"I think you woke her up with that comment," he chuckled.
"Not like I was joking. I'll admit cuddling is a lot nicer than I originally expected."
"Well, you have two universe-class cuddlers so that's to be expected," he snorted. Seriously, feeling touch-starved at the randomest of times only to feel the warmth of companionship was both terrifying and a blessing.
"Good to know. I'm looking forward to more of it."
"Not as much as me, that's for sure."
Up on his feet he went as voices sounded from the door. Approaching as Sparkle opened it, he could only smile as in came the real Robin. Donned in the outfit Sparkle wore under disguise, her eyes then trailed over.
Understandably, they widened as her momentary shock bursted a happy smile.
"Relon!" She gushed, hurrying over to hug him.
"Haha, heyo Robin," he chuckled, returning the hug while ignoring two noticeable things pressing against him. "And when there's one, there is always the other somewhere close," he added cooly, looking over to see a deadpanning Sunday.
The young man had fair skin with golden eyes. He had smooth, shoulder-length silver hair with a fringe swept up to the left as well as wings behind his ears. He wore a white suit with a dark dress shirt underneath.
"Why is it that practically every time you pay a visit nowadays, it is in the middle of the night? There is this thing we use here called 'sleep.'" Despite the small gripe, Sunday's approach while sporting a smile in greeting and a hand raised was all Relon needed to see as he clasped him in a brotherly dap.
"Well you know I'm not one to stick with multiple time zones."
"That's your excuse this time? What are we to do with you?"
"Continue to be my wonderful childhood friends?" Relon blinked innocently. "And… a few other things maybe," he not so innocently averted his gaze.
"Such as?" That arched brow only added to Relon's growing nervousness that he could only chuckle in anticipation like a silly child.
"Well, before we get to that, did Rappa contact either of you? She's here in Penacony somewhere and I need to find her." He desperately wanted to know her whereabouts as soon as possible. That way he'd just explain the idea all at once versus telling it multiple times individually.
"As a matter of fact I did," Robin spoke up. If he didn't know any better he'd say she was pouting.
Was she though? A quick glance to her brother with an even more intrigued look told that Relon's assumption was right. So then why was she pouting?
"Teehee, Relon as aloof as always~," Sparkle giggled.
"Huh?" He blinked. "Heck are you talking about?"
"Please, Sparkle," Sunday pleaded through an exasperated sigh. "Don't give him any more ideas."
"You too, Sunday? What did I do?"
"Hmpf," Robin averted her head.
Seriously, what did he do to make Robin upset?
Then he felt a pat on his shoulder belonging to Siobhan.
"You still have some things to learn." Now Relon could only roll his head in exasperation.
"Ugh, whatever! Robin, please, could you tell us? It's really important." No response came as she returned forward while offering only a deadpanned look. "Fine, what if I attend your next concert in person?"
The fact that he was negotiating over the whereabouts of Rappa was insane but he's seen and done weirder in Penacony. Though that seemed to alleviate whatever reason for her pouting as her angelic smile returned.
"That would be lovely! Rappa notified me earlier this morning of her arrival. Something about doing an investigation ."
"Did she say where?"
"Something about a dangerous area like that of a child."
"A Child's Dream," Sunday noted, gaining everyone's attention. "It's a recently discovered area, a distorted memory zone, that has perilous creatures wandering within it. As the area seems to stem from a child's memories, you can find many remnants of one's youth hence the name."
For starters, Relon was relieved to have a trail to follow regarding Rappa. On the other hand, he was now not looking forward to dealing with more monsters. At least they weren't related to Nanook's army.
"And she hasn't contacted you since?" A shake of her head came, something that didn't sit well with him.
Rappa was a strong individual and although she didn't act it, she had a level head always taking precautions when doing her work.
One look out the window at the City of Dreams and he knew what he needed to do.
"Sunday, how do I get into the Child's Dream?"
"You believe something may have happened," he surmised to receive a nod.
"I know Rappa. She isn't one to take long but she's also diligent in her work. She always notifies someone when she arrives but more importantly, when she leaves. Given Robin hasn't received anything, I want to ensure nothing's happened."
"I shall make preparations for our departure then," Sunday voiced, turning for the door.
"Our?" Relon tilted his head.
"Why, you do not believe I would let my best friend face danger alone? I've long since admitted defeat when it comes to your determination. It takes a strong will to oppose your own and I'm not referring to Nanook's. Alas, I wish it would be just us but…" One look at the three females sporting determined looks of their own, Relon could only widen in realization. "That idea was dead the moment you entered Penacony."
"No way."
"Yes way and there's zero ways to convince us otherwise," Sparkle spoke in defiance.
"You don't actually think I can sit here in good conscience while my best friend and brother do something so dangerous, do you?"
"This isn't about doing what's right, Robin! We're going somewhere dangerous! There's no way I can in good conscience risk any of your safeties!"
"And you think it's fine to leave us to worry?" Siobhan arched a brow. "We'd be no different than Eina if that were the case."
He physically jerked back. He hadn't thought of it that way.
If he were to recruit members, they would possibly worry just like Silver Wolf. That… didn't sit well with him.
Furrowing for a moment, he moved past the group to peer out the window at the city.
"If one cannot protect themselves, much less others, then they are not worthy. You, who allowed countless lives to be lost before accepting my power on my terms, can not stand there and prattle to me about my actions. Your strength was palpable in the face of my army."
He was strong, he knew that. He also recognized that he could be stronger. But he didn't need to let that lingering thought decide his actions. He just needed to prove it.
"Sunday, you're fine with this?" He finally asked, eyes remaining out the window.
"Of course I'm not. Sparkle and even Siobhan I have no qualms with coming but even if I put my foot down, Robin would find one way or another to overcome my own wishes." Even as Sunday sighed, the smile from Robin didn't alleviate his worry one bit.
"At least he's honest," Siobhan scoffed.
He was an Aeon Child with countless experience since he was a child. He had the most skills in his arsenal out of everyone. Sparkle, Robin, and Sunday were all chosen by the Aeon of Harmony, Xipe.
"One under Destruction and three under Harmony with one pathless…" He mumbled.
He knew something terrible or stupid, probably both would arise given his terrible luck but there was no point fighting against the inevitable. He couldn't go back for Acheron due to Eina so it was the five of them.
With a heavy reluctance, he turned around.
"How do we get there?"
