20XX April 5th
My name is Espio the Chameleon, 15, male.
I'm doing some research on the world itself whether it be the current situation that started 4 years ago, or stuff unrelated to that.
My current client is none other than the one related to the 4 year research I did.
Knuckles the Echidna, 16, male.
"So, can you explain why I'm here?"
I was writing down what I was thinking, but I can't let that case go without any answers.
"Hey!"
And now here I am-
"HEY!"
Westside Island, Emerald Town
Knuckles' yell has Espio stop and look at him while paying attention.
"Tell me why I'm here!? You interrupted my delivery for someone else's birthday!" Knuckles shouts while poking the table and raising a bag.
"Apologies for my rudeness. I was asking you about the incident at South Island, Westside Island and Angel Island, considering the Master Emerald is the subject of all this." Espio asks with curiosity while handing over photos of the events at Angel Island.
"You know you don't have to think about all this. It's over. Angel Island is safe and Eggman is no longer chasing us anymore. So can you do your detective crap somewhere else?" Knuckles asked.
Espio sighs while leaning on the table and puts a cigarette in his mouth and leans closer to Knuckles with a lighter.
"It may be over. But when he comes back, I'll be the first to discover what your friends are hiding." Espio concludes while lighting a cigarette in front of Knuckles.
After lighting it, Espio exclaims as he coughs and collapses, only for Knuckles to catch and crush a cigarette.
"You know smoking is bad for you." Said Knuckles.
Espio grunts while pushing himself with the table and then quickly sits back on a chair and clears his throat.
"Maybe so. Anyway, whose gift are you sending it to?" Espio asked.
"It's for a friend. It's her 11th birthday." Knuckles answers while standing up.
"I see. We'll continue this case later." Espio concludes while standing up and puts the papers in the drawer.
"How about we don't? You pestered me for this." Knuckles mutters under his breath as he leaves.
Before doing that, Knuckles halts as he sees a photo of a bunch of anthropomorphic chameleons in traditional eastern clothing and Espio being the odd one out in a trenchcoat and hat like he is right now.
"These are my clan. I left because I desire to search for the case myself." Espio says while standing by the entrance with Knuckles.
"I see. Anyway, farewell, chameleon." Knuckles waves as he leaves.
Espio closes his eyes and closes the door as he's switching subjects from the Master Emerald case to the missing flicky case.
With Knuckles and Espio parting ways, Espio puts his hands in his pocket while walking past the people of Emerald Town, only for Espio to encounter a letter.
What surprises Espio is an invitation to the fighting tournament, leading him to sigh and drop the paper as if he's uninterested.
"Mark my words echidna, you will tell me where the light came from." Espio is seeing a green light that's still on the sea all the way from the floating Angel Island.
Chemical Plant
"Hold on!" A yellow furred squirrel boy, Ray, grunts while pulling a pig's arms.
"Don't let go!" A red shelled armadillo boy, Mighty, growls while yanking the pig's arms.
"Why me!? I knew it's a bad idea!" The pig in a leather coat, Porker Lewis, cries while being lifted off the chemicals.
"And whose fault it is for wanting a large catapult!?" A rabbit in a red jacket, Johnny Lightfoot, snaps while folding his arms and glares at Mighty.
"What!? Don't blame me! Sonic and Tails just left because it's his sister's birthday!" Mighty protested.
"Yeah, because we unintentionally kept them without even knowing. I hope she's not mad at us." Ray is worried that he's about to face an 11 year old's wrath, despite him, Mighty, Johnny and Porker Lewis are all 14 years of age.
"I don't know if it is, but I don't think Sonic ever wanted to go to birthday parties and his sister is no exception." Johnny had a feeling what Sonic does on a yearly basis.
After Porker Lewis is freed, he groans while shaking the chemicals off of his skin and takes off his leather jacket.
"So, do you guys know where the light comes from?" Johnny asks while pointing at the green light.
"Dunno. I remember it's from Knuckles' island, so he might explain what it is." Ray shrugs his shoulders as if he's unsure.
"Ah, speak of the devil, here he is. Hey, Knuckles." Mighty waves as he, Ray, Johnny and Porker Lewis are glad to see the red echidna.
"Mighty? Ray? What are you guys doing here?" Knuckles asks while approaching the boys.
"Yo, Knuckles!" Ray jumps and hi fives Knuckles, making Knuckles wrap his arm around Ray.
"We had to help Porker out of this mess and Sonic and Tails left us for his sister's birthday." Mighty rubs his head while turning towards Porker Lewis.
"Can't say I blame the kid. How many years has Sonic not shown up?" Knuckles shrugs his shoulders and folds his arms.
"Same could be said with Tails. He's in on it." Johnny sighed.
"We were asking about that?" Mighty points at the light which had Knuckles turning towards them.
"Okay, but don't tell anyone, not even that detective chameleon." Knuckles warned, making the 4 nod. "Good."
Knuckles then faces the light, and points his finger towards Angel Island with his bent mitten.
"The Master Emerald is beginning the call and the 6 rings are chosen to hold the chaos energy. The difference is that there are 7 chaos emeralds, but this time there are 6 chaos rings. The island is coming to life." Knuckles raises his hands as a green aura of chaos energy is hitting Angel Island, releasing a white beam of light hitting the sea as 6 rings change colour.
The colours of the rings are pink, yellow, green, aquamarine, blue, and violet, as the chaos rings fall into the sea, creating a reverse rain as a part of the sea droplets rise towards the sky.
Finally, the island is born, making Knuckles sigh and fall to his knees.
"Woah…" Mighty, Johnny and Porker Lewis are in awe after witnessing what Knuckles has awakened from afar.
"Amazing… This is like the chaos emeralds." Ray is excited to see what Knuckles has shown.
"Heh. It's nothing special, really. My ancestors did the same with other islands, I created the Island of Miracles." Knuckles chuckles while introducing a new island to Mighty's group.
With a bunch of teenagers chatting about Knuckles' life before he met Sonic, behind the bush is Espio as he carries his phone by recording, realising that Knuckles is hiding the secrets of the Master Emerald from anyone but his friends.
"Interesting… So the chaos phenomena are like gods. Vector… It seems you have met your match." Espio smirks while leaving and carries some of the evidence.
On the other side, a fellow echidna in a full body black suit is hiding and hopping down while whispering to the pink furred echidna girl.
"Ah. So it seems the Master Emerald is still alive for 4000 years. Good." The pink echidna nods as her voice speaks in a soft tone and then turns on the communicator. "This is Nocturnus Kommissar Twilight speaking, we're heading to Angel Island."
With all the echidnas leaving, the pink echidna puts on a helmet as the eyes and the forehead are glowing blue like the army, but the suit design is different as a sign of leadership.
Finally, she disappears with her soldiers, knowing they can reach an island that's floating.
Angel Island, Mystic Ruins
"Come on, boys! Put your backs into it!" One Nocturnus echidna shouts as the other 2 are growling.
"We can't! It's like Master Emerald refuses to get off the altar!" The other Nocturnus echidna complained.
"My back is killing me… Where is Lady Twilight when you need her!?" One Nocturnus echidna cries while leaning on the Master Emerald.
"It's been 4 years and our boss is ordering us to do something impossible." One echidna sighed.
"Why isn't the Master Emerald removed from the altar?" A voice of a girl called, causing the Nocturnus echidnas to stand straight and kneel a bow to their lady.
"Lady Twilight, the Master Emerald is too much for us to handle. We couldn't get it out." One Nocturnus Marauder said, making Twilight walk towards the Master Emerald.
As she places her hand on a large green chaos emerald, green sparks hit her as it refuses to let her touch it.
"So it seems you already chose a guardian in this day and age. The future is something else. Men, stand back."
"Yes, Lady Twilight." The echidnas March backwards as they watch.
Walking around the Master Emerald, Twilight is about to bring out a handgun made out of ancient material, but was thinking of another way around.
"Master Emerald… You did this to us. And now, you're coming with us."
Before doing anything, Twilight places her hand on the emerald again but this time, it's not resisting anymore.
Finally…
Nothing?
"Uh, Lady?"
"We tried that method before."
"Hnnngh! Get off!" Twilight is doing the same pulling the emerald off trick, but the Master Emerald won't budge. "Why!? Why won't you budge!?"
This all leads to the echidnas sigh, groan and chuckle together, realising their lady is not as bright as they made her out to be, considering they're no better.
After Twilight falls to the ground, she immediately stands up and then lies on her back and pushes it with her feet.
"Okay, change of plan. Men! Get over here and help me with this thing!" Twilight ordered.
"Ma'am!" The echidnas are now in a similar position as Twilight, causing them to place their arms and hands. on the Master Emerald.
"Ready!? Heave!" Twilight shouts as the Nocturnus Clan are pushing the Master Emerald so hard that it broke one echidna's back and the other few's arms.
"Damn it!" A Nocturnus Marauder is holding his arm while groaning in pain.
"Why is it always us that gets the short end of the stick!? My back!" A Nocturnus Marauder is down on his knees while holding his back.
"Damn you! When we get back, you will come with us!" Twilight snaps while pointing at the Master Emerald.
"Not on our watch!" A voice shouted, creating a massive blow as the echidnas screamed by getting spread out.
"What the!?" Gasping, Twilight is seeing a red echidna boy tossing her army around and beating them left and right, making her immediately pull out a gun.
Before she fires, Knuckles slaps the gun off of Twilight's hand and punches the mask as it shatters, causing the echidna girl to crash and roll.
"Get him!" The echidna yells as a horde of them jump towards Knuckles.
This leads to Ray appearing by chucking Mighty, causing Mighty to slam the ground, creating a blast wave as the echidnas are pushed everywhere.
"Thanks, Mighty." Knuckles sighed with relief.
"Anytime, Knux." Mighty chuckles while tapping Knuckles' chest with his fist.
After the battle, Knuckles, Mighty and Ray are seeing a face of an echidna, making Knuckles smirk and kneel in front of her.
"I guess there's another one of these guys. So, echidna girl, who are you and why is your clan this obsessed with the Master Emerald?"
"Hmph. As if you wanna know. But I must give you credit for stopping anyone from taking the Master Emerald. I am Nocturnus Kommissar Twilight and I'm here to avenge my people. That island is interesting, maybe we could check it out." Twilight smirks back as she finally has something occupied.
"What?"
"Uh, Knuckles, you might wanna see this." Ray points down as he and Mighty are witnessing the new island's reshaping.
To Knuckles' shock and horror, all his hard work has ended up turning into a carnival island.
"What!? Who did this!?" Knuckles barks as he growls and raises his fists.
"Like we'll ever tell you. It seems your Newtrogic High Zone has become our carnival. When we get the chaos rings, the Master Emerald is ours. Until we meet again, Knuckles." Twilight fires her gun as a laser creates a fog, rendering her to disappear along with her clan members.
As Knuckles, Mighty and Ray are seeing the new island turned into an attraction, Knuckles growls while clenching his fists.
"Now what?" Ray asks with worry.
"We're going in. These echidnas think they're hot stuff trying to take the Master Emerald? Not when we kick their asses!" Mighty is with Knuckles on this one as the situation is getting messier with the echidnas involved.
"I figured you say that." Ray sighed.
"Julie-Su… It seems she's related to that Lien-Da girl Sonic and I fought." Knuckles doesn't know who Julie-Su is, but is willing to beat her when they revisit.
"Who?" Mighty and Ray are confused by that name.
"Long story. Let's go." Knuckles, Mighty and Ray jump off the island as the trio are heading towards a certain island that's been invaded without passing a day old.
This begins Knuckles' adventure with Mighty and Ray.
