Chapter 1: Bunny kisses
December 25th
It was Christmas time and snow was falling freely from the sky, and cheer was in the air as everyone was getting ready. Even Grandma was getting in the Christmas spirit and was making Christmas treats like Ginger bread and more. Inside Bugs' house there was lights everywhere. A massive Christmas tree was in the living room corner with presents under it and the tree was adorned with Christmas lights, Tinsel was beautifully wrapped around the tree with cute ornaments hanging from the branches.
"Well, that's the last of em'." Bugs said as he placed the last of the presents under the tree.
"I sure hope so" Daffy said. Drinking his morning coffee.
"So, when is everyone supposed to come over?" Daffy asked.
"Later tonight. I want everything to be perfect this year" Bugs explained. He grabbed a ladder and grabbed the star that was set on the couch, Bugs carefully put the star on top of the tree before climbing down.
"Oh, that reminds me i still need to get something from the store" Bugs said.
"I thought you said you got everything" Daffy said, confused by what Bugs had said.
"I forgot something" Bugs said before walking to his car and getting inside. He slowly pulled out of his drive way before driving away. A short while later he made it to the store. Stepping out of the car he grabbed a shopping basket and went further inside. He didn't know what Lola would like because he followed his heart most of the time. But he knew Lola would like anything Bugs got her.
First, he went into the woman's section and started looking for slippers, he kept looking until he found a cute pair that was fuzzy to the touch and had a heart in the center, Bugs found a pair that fit her perfectly and put that in the basket before moving on. Next he decided to get her something else...but what? Bugs kept walking while contemplating what else to get her before he was struck by an idea.
He kept walking until he noticed a display of music boxes. He walked closer and listened tom the tune, each one was playing in perfect unison. He was mesmerized by the elegant designs of each box and the tune was mesmerizing and soothing to him. He looked closer and in the center was two Bunnies that looked like they were wearing ice skates. It reminded him of the time the two first went ice skating together as a couple.
He smiled to himself as he relived that memory. He grabbed one of the boxes and carefully put it in the basket before walking to the check out counter. He placed the items on the conveyor belt and the worker at the other end-an elderly lady-scanned the items.
"That will be $32.63 young man" she said. Bugs handed her the credit card.
"Thank you so much, Merry Christmas" Bugs wished.
"Would you like these gifts wrapped?" she asked.
"No ma'am. This is fine" Bugs said as he took his presents and began walking away.
"Have a wonderful Christmas dear" the old lady wished as Bugs left the store. Now back outside he began walking to his car.
(Back at Bugs' house)
"I hope Bugs gets back here soon" Daffy said. He heard knocking at the door and went to go open it.
"Hey Daffy" Bugs said.
"Glad you could make it" Daffy said sarcastically.
"Shopping was great thanks for asking" Bugs said sarcastically back as he went upstairs to hide the gifts he got for Lola. A few minutes later he walked back down stairs.
"Did you get anything special for Tina this year?" Bugs asked.
"Yes i did, i put it under the tree" Daffy said.
"We still have time to get the food ready for later tonight" Bugs said walking into the kitchen. Daffy followed him in and noticed bug's list of foods he still had to make before everyone arrived.
Daffy let out a loud groan. "Are you serious? What else is there still left to make?" Daffy asked exasperated.
"Yes!" Bugs said, he was in hyperdrive, hastily getting everything ready. He was making green bean casserole, stuffing and figgy pudding. Bugs was fortunate Grandma was so generous and was taking care of stuff like the ham and other foods. He put the casserole in the oven and set a dial up timer. Next he set the figgy pudding in the fridge for later, grabbing a big bottle of brandy and a lighter for later.
"Woah woah are you trying to set the house on fire!?" Daffy asked in alarm.
"No doofus this is for serving the pudding later when everyone arrives" Bugs explained. Daffy sighed.
"Also don't think about getting drunk either" Daffy warned. Bugs narrowed his eyes in annoyance but didn't push the subject.
"I'm not the one with two DUI's either" Bugs muttered, he checked the time on the fridge, and it read 1:45. Everyone would be here at 5:00.
"I have some time to kill before everyone arrives" Bugs said to himself. He went into the storage closet and grabbed more tinsel and walked over to the railing on the stairs and looped it around the railing. Next, he grabbed some more lights and strung them around the outline of the fireplace before igniting it. Then he grabbed some incense, and the air began to smell like cinnamon.
He made sure to light an incense in each individual room so the smells wouldn't overlap. Making sure the kitchen and dining room smelled inviting.
"Now that that's done, i think I'll go hang some lights on the front of the house" Bugs said to himself. He grabbed some festive lights and an extension cord before walking outside and grabbing a ladder. he strung the lights around the columns in the front of his house before moving to the garage and carefully hanging the lights around the top and sides of the garage.
Next, he grabbed an inflatable Santa and blew it up with an automatic air blower and watched it inflate.
He walked back inside to hear the food timer ding. He grabbed an oven mitt and carefully took out the casserole before taking the stuffing out as well. His oven was capable of cooking two things at once if he ever needed to.
(Later)
*KNOCK* *KNOCK* *KNOCK*
Bugs got up and opened the door to see everyone at the door, Yosemite Sam, Speedy, Grandma, Lola and her parents Walter and Patricia, Tina, Pepe Le Pew and a few others were there at the door waiting for him. Grandma came with her deserts, Lola made Carrot cake, Pepe La Pew made some French deserts as well.
"Guys you made it" Bugs said excitedly as he stepped aside to allow everyone to come inside.
"Joyeux Noël Bugs Bunny" Pepe said as he walked past bugs.
"Thanks Pepe, just set your coats on the hangers there" Bugs said motioning to the hangers on the wall.
"Merci" he said before hanging his jacket on the hook and joining the others.
"Bugs, so good to see you again. How have you been?" Walter said walking up to Bugs and shaking his hand firmly.
"I've been good Walter, thanks for asking. How's the family?" Bugs asked.
"Good" Walter said before walking away to talk to some of the other guests.
"Hello Bugs. Your house looks very beautiful this year" Patricia commented as she walked over to Bugs and gave him a friendly hug which he returned.
"Thanks very much, your too kind" Bugs said bashfully.
"Hey Bugs, Merry Christmas~" Lola sang as she hugged him from behind, Bugs turned around to hug her properly before they separated.
"Merry Christmas to you too sweetheart" Bugs said. He felt happy they reconsiled after that whole situation with Honey Bunny. Bugs never wanted to see her again for as long as he lived, now that he had Lola in his life.
"I love what you did with the house" Lola commented.
"Thanks, it feels like everyone's saying that" Bugs said.
He went over to the fridge and got the Figgy pudding and set it down on the counter next to the lighter and Brandy.
"Well, everyone go sit in the dining room and we can all start eating, but first" Bugs began before he popped the cork on the Brandy and sparked the lighter.
"Everyone yell Merry Christmas" Bugs finished.
"MERRY CHRISTMAS" Everyone cheered as Bugs poured the Brandy on the pudding and lit it as the dessert caught fire. The crowd awed at the fiery display and was fortunate the smoke alarm didn't go off.
After that short celebratory display everyone began serving themselves and sat on the couch in the living room, while others preferred the dining room.
"When can we open presents?" Gossamer asked excitedly.
"Not now baby, Bugs will tell us when we can" his mother, Lezah, said.
"Awww" Gossamer said.
"I'm sure we'll be able to soon ok, let's give everyone else time to finish their meals" Lezah said sweetly.
Soon everyone was done with their food with plenty left over if anyone chose to have thirds or fourths. They all piled up in the living room to open their presents.
"Alright before we open presents i just want to say I'm grateful to have some awesome friends" Bugs said and as he glanced at Lola he finished his sentence. "And an amazing girlfriend. Merry Christmas everyone" Bugs finished. Everyone in the room was touched by Bugs' words.
"Let's begin the handouts" Bugs said.
(A few minutes later)
Everyone had finished opening their presents, Daffy got a new shirt, Speedy got a variety of different authentic Marinara sauces straight from Italy. Grandma got a new set of yarn, Gossamer got a new remote-control car, Yosemite Sam got a new revolver (unloaded, of course).
(More present openings later. Or else we'd be here for hours. Would you like to hear what everyone got or move straight to the meat and potatoes?)
"Bugs Where's my present?" Lola said.
"Its updtairs. Close your eyes and i'll be right back" Bugs said as he got up from the couch, while Lola stayed back and closed her eyes. Eagerly waiting to see what bugs had gotten her. A moment later Bugs came down with her gifts.
"Ok you can open them" Bugs said. Lola opened them and what she saw made her heart swell with emotion.
"Go on, open them" Bugs gently encouraged her. Lola opened the first box and pulled out the slippers. Unable to contain her excitement she eagerly tried them on, they fit her perfectly. Lola excitedly hugged her boyfriend and after a moment they separated.
"I think you'll love the second one" Bugs said with a knowing smirk. Feeling eager she grabbed the second one and opened it and she wound up the crank on the side of the music box and listened to the tune on the music box, entranced by the two skating bunnies in the center of the box.
When the song ended Lola carefully put the box down and tackled her boyfriend to the ground.
"Thank you Bun bun, those were the best gifts anyone could ever give me" Lola exclaimed happily before she grabbed bugs and forcefully meshed their lips together.
(Later that night)
Everyone had left to go home for the night leaving Bugs and Lola alone. Lola's parents had wished the two a good night and said Bugs was welcome at their house any time.
Now Bugs and Lola were upstairs in Bugs' room getting ready for bed.
"Thanks for the gifts Bugs I loved them a lot" Lola said.
"Don't mention it" Bugs said honestly.
The two got into bed where Bugs opened the music box and let the toon play as he shut off the lights and crawled into bed, Lola got in right beside him and the two nuzzled noses before sharing a deep passionate kiss.
"Goodnight Lola" Bugs said.
"Goodnight, Bugs" Lola said as they snuggled closer to one another and nuzzled their noses again before the two fell asleep in each other's arms.
THATS ALL FOLKS!
