Peter Parker's day could be summed up in one word: insufferable.
One of his biggest enemies, aka the Lizard, aka Dr. Connors in his mutated form, had shown up at his high school and just started wreaking havoc. It seemed he had managed to find out Peter's identity and was coming after him when he wasn't wearing his suit.
Peter was sent flying through the walls, landing on several desks, revealing his newly advanced suit. His suit was a mixture of armor and classic-style outfits. The front of his entire suit was made out of bulletproof material and was bright red, as were his mask and socket eyes.
His suit's hips and arms are made out of nanotechnology armor material that reaches up to his shoulders. It is a dark blue color with a few stripes of red material. His entire chest piece is covered in the casual fabric style, and his usual spider symbol is shrunk down and encases a drone. His pants are also made out of the same nanotechnology material as his arms and shoulders, but they are dark blue with a golden outline.
Quickly getting back up, Peter watched in horror as the Lizard emerged from the same hole he had created. As it approached, Peter attempted to counterattack, but the Lizard pinned his arm to the ground. With lightning speed, one of its claws swung towards him, forcing him to dodge the attack despite being unable to move freely.
Peter managed to reach one of the stools in the chemical lab and used it to smash the Lizard.
That failed as the Lizard blocked it with one of his giant, scaly hands. "Nowhere to hide, Peter," he growled.
Quickly dodging the Lizard's claw as it came down to kill him, Peter grabbed onto its leg and webbed it to the ground. The lizard then picked him up and threw him into another wall. As he regained his balance, Peter watched in horror as the Lizard approached the hole and picked up two chemicals from the table, mixing them before tossing them into the hole, causing them to create a reaction and cause an explosion.
"All these souls lost and alone. I can save them, I can cure them. There's no need to stop me, Peter." The Lizard promised, and Peter responded by throwing a pair of sneakers from the lost and found, which he conveniently landed near.
Who loses a pair of sneakers?!
The Lizard roared in anger at what Peter had done; just as the person leaped out of the hole, onto the desk, and shot two crossed webs that hit the lights. As soon as they were pulled, the electricity zapped the Lizard.
Once he regained focus, Lizard noticed that Peter was gone. However, in reality, he was crawling up the ceiling and sneaking behind Lizard, then leaping onto his back. This seemed to anger Lizard, who struggled to free himself from Peter's grasp while continuing to attempt to web him down.
"You're not thinking straight, Doc!" Peter exclaimed as the Lizard backed into the wall and crashed through it. He turned around, trying to strike with his sharp claws that Peter managed to dodge them. "Stop this! This isn't you!" He shouted as he webbed his face and attached them to the ceiling. "Come on, doc!"
The Lizard didn't seem to care about that as he crashed into the lockers and caused Peter to finally let go, grabbing onto the wall with the wind knocked out of him. Just then, his spider-sense went off, giving Lizard enough time to attack; Peter scraped all of the lockers while he leaped onto the ceiling, using it to keep a safe distance from the psychotic doctor.
"Let's talk this out," Peter begged, while the Lizard hissed and crawled up the wall and onto the ceiling, chasing after him as he tried to reach the scientist trapped inside the creature. "Doc, can you hear me in there?"
The Lizard just kept coming at him, smashing through the ceiling and lights as Peter dropped down onto the floor below. The Lizard followed suit by dropping down from the ceiling above. This gave Peter the opportunity to act quickly and attempt to stick him to the wall with his hands. All that did was cause a piece of the locker to break off and leave a piece of metal in his hand.
"Oh, fudge!" Peter sighed as Lizard swung at him to try and slice him, but Peter dodged it by using his acrobatics to flip backward and then shoot off the wall and slide in between his legs. "All right, so you don't wanna talk?"
The lizard roared at him, revealing its pointed, sharp teeth just as Spider-Man shot him in the face with a web.
"There you go." Peter quipped.
The Lizard then ripped it off and swung his tail at Peter, who quickly grabbed it; however, that didn't end well for Peter, as he was swung into the lockers and wall once more.
"Don't," Peter tried to stop him as the Lizard smacked him into the wall. "...Make me." He then swung him again and smacked him into the lockers. "...Have to...," he was then swung back into the brick wall, but luckily, his suit was taking most of the damage. "...Hurt you!"
The Lizard then spun around, which sent Spider-Man flying down the hall and into the catwalk doors. He slid down it and grabbed his tail, blood spewing out of it and onto the floor as well as onto his suit. The Lizard marched down the catwalk as his tail continued to grow on his back.
"That's just disgusting!" Peter exclaimed in disgust as he tossed the detached tail off of him. He looked over and saw the blood covering his suit as he got up to then shoot the walls and slingshot himself at Lizard. However, that ended with him getting his face smashed into the wall. "Cecile, I could really use some backup!"
Then, a giant blast of energy smacked into the Lizard, causing him to snarl and skid as he looked over in anger. There down the catwalk stood one of Peter's oldest friends and the one that made him blush a lot, especially with her costume and her features, Atom Eve.
Eve is a youthful, attractive, fair-skinned Caucasian girl in her teens with a slender, curvy physique. She possesses upper-back-length, straight red hair that is on the top of her head to the right, and green eyes. She dons a tight pink suit adorned with the atom molecule logo and rings embellishing it, complemented by a pink cape that she crafted herself that also showed off her nice legs that Peter has sometimes stared at before.
Eve quickly shot a few more blasts toward Lizard, making him swipe his tail and arms to smack the pink projectiles she sent his way. That was when all of the fragments started to scatter around him, came together, and turned into a cage made out of steel to contain the Lizard.
Eve floated over to the contained Lizard and rolled her eyes when she saw Peter and gave him a cheeky smile. "What would you do without me?"
Peter groaned as he stretched. "He caught me off guard. I didn't get a chance to stretch today."
"You stretch?" Eve questions with a smile.
"Shut up," Peter chuckled. "Think we'll get the rest of the day off?"
"I'd be less surprised if they don't shut down the school for the week," Eve said.
The Lizard then punched his claw out of the steel cage, causing them to gasp and turn to face the escaping animal. He roared and ripped himself free of the cage. Eve and Peter looked at one another, giving a nod before charging at him.
That was when time froze, turning the focus towards Peter.
"Alrighty, let's take a step back, shall we?"
Everyone and everything began to reverse all the way back to the beginning of the fight. Going even further back to the beginning of the day when Peter was talking with Mark Grayson, it continues even further back, showing events in reverse. Peter and Eve are fighting through a facility of sorts, Peter being trained by a man in white and red. Cecile is standing over young Peter, looking down with a stern expression. Continuing to show Peter being taught by a man in a white and red superhero suit, then shows Peter dangling a man on top of a building in anger, reversing to show Peter catching the hand of a dying man.
Reversing even faster, events begin to blur until finally finishing up on Peter Parker as a kid.
"My name is Peter Parker. And for the last three years... I've been the one and only Spider-Man." Peter narrated as his younger self ate alone. "But before that, I was just... Peter Parker. Friendless kid. Until..." A boy walked over and sat down at the table with Peter. "Mark Grayson. He was my only friend for a few years. My parents were some sort of secret scientists or something secret agents; they never really told me about anything specific."
Then, it shows Mark and Peter hanging out at his home while their parents are talking.
"Our parents got along very well. His mom sold houses, but that's as far as I knew, his dad was the superhero Omniman. The strongest superhero on the planet and part of the Guardians of the Globe."
Peter stood over the graves of his parents. He sighed and looked down in sorrow with Uncle Ben, Nolan, Aunt May, and Debbie all comforting him.
"Then my parents died. Mark and I grew closer as friends, and his dad started to even become like a 2nd father to me alongside Uncle Ben. Helping me out when I needed it especially when Uncle Ben and Aunt May were at work."
Peter and Mark is seen learning how to ride a bike together with Nolan and Uncle Ben helping out. They are then seen playing catch with each other and then shows Nolan cheering them on during a baseball game.
"But sadly, this wasn't the end."
Peter was on a field trip as they watched an experiment involving radiation. A spider was crawling up Peter's arm at the time, and it bit down, exposing Peter to capabilities he wasn't able to comprehend. Yet.
"I used my powers for... personal gain."
Peter wore a red ski mask with a T-shirt that had a spider on the front. He was using this to make money under the persona Spider-Man.
"I miss the part where that's my problem."
"Stop that guy!"
"Uncle Ben?"
"I made a mistake," Peter said, jumping forward to clutch the dying hand of his uncle. "And I lost my uncle. I hunted the man down..."
Peter chased the man up an abandoned building, all the way to the roof. He then got close enough to ram the man, dangling him off the ledge of the building.
"Wait, you want the money?" He bargained. "You can have it."
"I want him back," Peter stated, preparing to drop him. But then he looked into the eyes of terror, seeing that he was about to become just like the man who took his uncle. "But...this isn't what he would have wanted."
"I let him live... to spend the rest of his life behind bars. But I finally learned what Ben was trying to teach me. With great power comes great responsibility. It's time I started to live up to that."
Peter was currently swinging his way through the city a few months after getting his powers. He was now swinging through the city chasing after a crime in progress.
"I know you can hear me, you wall-crawling menace, and it is the duty of everyone to report your actions. And I won't rest until this city has seen the last of you!"
Peter shot out a web that latched onto the screen he was screaming off of. "And good morning to you, JJ." He then leaped off and swung off his web, beginning to swing his way off to catch the crime in progress. "Ah, there you are!"
There was a police car with some goo on the front of the hood that began to swivel and crash into a store. Peter shot off a web netting that caught the car before it could completely destroy the store, only shattering the glass by the weight, but the officer inside was okay.
Peter then swung and landed on the roof of the car where he then slid down the side, ripping the wheel off, causing the car to skid to a hault by whoever was driving it. When the back doors opened, Peter groaned when he recognized who it was. He saw a man wearing a vest with a giant pack on his back and two gauntlets with hoses that went into the pack. He also wore a pair of goggles on his head.
"Hi ya there, web brain!" Trapster capped.
"Trapster!" Peter groaned. "Don't you ever get sick of this? I mean, how many times in the last four months have we fought?"
"You ever give up?" Trapster asked, shooting off goo coming out from the canisters.
Peter quickly dodged the goo, rushing in to punch Trapster, sending him flying and knocking him into a car. Getting back up, Trapster tossed several grenades filled with the goo and once they exploded, the area around them was encased with it. Peter quickly kicked one of them, ducked to dodge the other, then watched one roll at his feet.
As he jumped backward, the canister exploded, and Peter landed on the side of a building. Just then, he saw that his suit was now sticky because of the goo landing on him. He tried to pry himself free as he looked to see that Trapster was aiming to stick him again. Peter quickly shoots out webbing that sticks to the canister release. The backflow caused an explosion, trapping the Trapster in his own goo.
Peter flipped and landed on the ground as he strolled over to Trapster. "And this is where I leave the note for the cops. Got a pen, Trappy?"
Trapster looked at him in anger when he gasped at something behind Peter.
"Spider-Man." Someone with a gruff voice called.
Peter flinched as he jumped back in shock, looking to see there was someone that wasn't there a few seconds ago. He is a middle-aged man of a lean build.
While balding at the top, he sports shoulder-length silver hair, formerly a medium blond in his younger years. His most prominent feature is a long scar stretching over his left jaw, which he gained after exposure to a corrosive gas that peeled away his skin. After his body was reconstructed, he chose to keep the remaining piece of natural skin. Next to him who was floating was Omniman
"Hi there, Scarface," Peter greeted him trying not to have Nolan find out who he is. "Am I supposed to know who exactly you are?"
"I'm Cecil Stedman," Cecil introduced himself. "Head of the Global Defense Agency."
"And am I supposed to know what that is?" Peter asked sarcastically.
"Think of it this way: we're the people who help supers from getting their pants caught in the fire." He informed Peter. "And you..." He gestured out, showing that the grenades that went off stuck to a lot of other people and vehicles in the area. "... we have to talk about."
"Talk about what? I stopped the bad guy," Peter said, gesturing to Trapster.
"Nobody is saying you didn't catch the criminal, but look at the fucking damage you caused," Cecil said, looking around at the chaos. "Any other hero could have stopped him in a few seconds. You took three minutes... with collateral damage."
"I do a good job," Peter defended.
"For a clueless rookie," Cecil scoffed.
"What?" Peter asks.
"Look, I get it. you're not trained; everyone starts off like this," Cecil sighed. "I'm offering to help you out."
"I knew it. You want me to buy some self-help books." Peter scoffed as he walked backwards. "Sorry to say, I'm out of pocket change. So, if we are all done here, I am going to-"
"We're serious. Peter." Nolan said.
Peter froze when he heard his own name, looking at Cecil and Nolan. "You knew?"
"Peter, I've known you for years. You think I wouldn't notice how every time there's a crime since the OSCORP trip, you would sneak away from our house whenever you came over." Said Nolan
"You're not exactly subtle on it, kid," Cecil told him. "Every time you went to fight some criminal, you just turned around and went back home."
Peter was surprised to hear that. "Well..."
"Listen, I want to help," Cecil told him. "That's what my agency does. We've been monitoring you. Keeping others from finding out who you are in the process. You seem to be a good kid. Just trying to do what is right... what do you say we help you with that?"
Peter wasn't sure what to say, but he could use some guidance in this life. "You think you can help me do better?"
"I know we can, kid," Cecil said with what some would mistake for a smile.
"Cecil and Nolan started to train me in his facility and in the field more. Training me to be a better Spider-Man. Honestly, it was nice at least that I didn't have to hide my identity anymore from Nolan, especially since he has helped a lot ever since I was a kid."
Peter is seen on a skyscraper holding a criminal over the edge with a web, with Nolan floating next to him.
"No, no. You got make him think your going to drop him if he doesn't tell you what you want to know." Said Nolan.
"I don't know," Peter said. "Isn't that a little too threatening?"
Nolan sighs. "Here, let me show you." Nolan takes the web from Peter and drops the criminal, leaving Peter baffled. "So I saw that you got first place at your school's science fair. He has been a part of Peter's life ever since his parents died. "Very Impressive."
But Peter wasn't really paying attention as he looked down at the criminal falling to his death. He looked over to Nolan and down once again.
"Are you going to catch him, or am I going skydiving?" Peter wonders.
"Yeah, just give him a second." Said Nolan, almost like this was a daily thing for him.
As the ground gets closer, the criminal screams, "Okay! I'll tell you!"
"See. Now, he is going to tell us what he knows." Said Nolan as he flew down and caught the criminal and brought him back up.
Peter wasn't entirely sure what to think of that, but he decided to shrug and take what he was being taught and maybe alter some things. He didn't really enjoy the threatening-people thing, but it might be handy.
Peter is then seen showing off his skills in the facilities. He used his strength without holding back to show just how strong he was. Seems they had some training bots that he used all of his strength to fight back. He destroyed them within minutes. Cecile and Donald Ferguson watched the footage of Spider-Man fighting off the robots. Though his fighting techniques were sloppy, he managed to destroy the robots that were strong enough to take on Immortal.
"His strength seems to be... almost limitless," Donald said in surprise. "He might be up there with some of the strongest heroes we've trained."
"How strong?" Cecil wonders. "If you had to estimate, where would he be?"
"If I had to guess... around Immortals level or maybe can go a few rounds with The Hulk but at this point its unclear. He could get stronger," Donald said.
"And how did he say he got these powers?" Cecil questions.
"He said a spider from OSCORP," Donald answered.
"See what we can find out about them," Cecil said. "See what else they are up to. If they are making super soldiers, then I wanna know about it."
"Yes, sir," Donald said. "And what about him?"
"Let him go home," Cecil said with a shrug. "We'll start putting together a training module for him. But... get a sample of his blood. Say it's to test his durability or something. We might need it."
"You think he could possibly be a threat?" Donald wonders.
"Kid who's as strong as a lot of a lot other superheroes, especially the Guardians of the Globe, and has some foresight sense that alerts him of incoming attacks?" Cecil asked. "Better be safe than sorry. You know how it works, Donald. We don't show favorites. Even for their son..."
"Then a few weeks in... I met her."
Peter was doing his usual patrol when he heard that there was an alarm at a jewelry store. He made his way over and saw a man with some sort of claw for a hand running into an alley. Peter easily shoots several webs to block his path, getting him to gasp and look over to see Spider-Man.
"Hey, big guy," Peter said as he shot out a web to perch on. "Guess you haven't heard... I'm the sheriff around these parts."
"And you are...?" He asks.
"Really?" Peter asks. "I've been at this for how long, and people still don't know me?" He then dropped from his perch and shrugged. "Well, are you going to be a good criminal, and take your loss, or are you going to make me do the whole 'kick your ass' thing?"
He chuckled and drew his arm, which seemed to be some sort of plasma cannon. That was when they were interrupted by a younger Eve flying down in a work-in-progress version of her newer suit that looks relatively the same.
"Hi there, boys," She greeted them. "Is this a sausage-only party, or can anyone join?"
"Uh... she with you?" He asked Peter.
"I kinda thought she was with you," Peter admitted with a shrug.
That was when the ground underneath the guy's legs turned to stone. "What the!?" Both of them asked.
That was when the girl came flying in, punching the guy with a morphed fist that she used to punch him. Peter had to jump to dodge the attack, and he was sent flying into Peter's webbing. He quickly used his cannon to burn the webbing off and tried to fight off the two of them.
Peter jumped, shooting several webs to try and aim for his cannon, but his webbing burned off. Eve flew up and got close enough to create a barrier that she used like Captain America's shield and smacked him in the face. That only worked a few times before Eve was smacked into the wall.
"Incoming!" Peter cried, tossing several trash can lids that knocked him backwards. He then aimed his blaster at Peter, getting him to jump to dodge them. "Da-na-na-na-na. Can't touch this!" which Eve saw and chuckled at his behavior.
Eve then used her powers, clogging his weapon, causing it to explode and send him flying. Peter webbed him down to the wall and sighed in relief when he saw he was knocked out.
"And a note for the cops..." Peter shoots a web that has a sticky note attached. "And a thank you, I suppose. To you."
"Thanks," Eve said with a smile. "I was kinda having a bad morning, so this is what I needed."
"Really?" Peter asks. "What happened?"
"I don't want to bother you with my problems," Eve said, walking away.
"Bother? I asked," Peter stated. "Come on. You hungry?"
Eve was confused by the offer but smiled.
Peter was sitting on the roof of a burger joint with Eve as they shared a meal together.
"So, howd you end up out here?" Peter asks.
"Well, I was looking for someone," Eve explained as she took a bite of her burger. "Someone who knew who I was. Where I came from."
"That mean you an orphan?" Peter asks.
"No, I live with... well, I guess my parents believe I am really their kid," Eve explained with a sigh. "But I was basically adopted."
"Oh," Peter was sorry to hear that. "Sorry."
"And today is my birthday... and only the crazy looking scientist guy who was there when I was born seemed to remember."
"Oof, sorry to hear that," Peter told her. "How long have you had these powers?"
"My whole life, I guess, but they didn't manifest until a few days ago," Eve explained to him. "How about you?"
"Oh, it was a freak accident," Peter explained to her. "I was on a field trip and ended up getting bitten by a radioactive spider. I think... I never found that spider."
"Really? A spider bite did this?" Eve asks.
"It's not the best origin, but it's mine," Peter said, as if he was offended by her tone.
Eve chuckled at him. "This is nice. I never really had anyone to talk to about this. My last friend... she was scared by what I can do. We haven't spoken since."
"Oh, man," Peter sighed. "I keep what I do a secret from others so to not look at me differently too, I suppose. I also don't know who to trust with this secret. Hard to really trust people with something so big."
"Yeah, I got that now," Eve said with a sigh. "My parents don't even know..."
"I live with my aunt. I haven't told her either," Peter said. "I don't want her to be worried for me while I am out here doing all of this. I mean, my friend's dad knows, but his case is a little complicated. This is my burden to bear... not her's."
Eve was amazed to hear their similarities but also how different they were from one another. "I guess that is pretty noble."
"Thanks," Peter said. "It is nice to finally talk to someone who's my age about this life."
"It is," Eve agreed.
"Hey, how about a picture? You know. To celebrate our first team up and our first day as friends." Said Peter as he set his phone up.
"Uh, sure." Said Eve as she smiled at the camera with Peter next to her, where they both gave peace signs.
That was when Peter's spider senses went off, getting him to look over and see an explosion. Eve stood up in surprise when she saw the explosion.
"We might wanna check that out," Peter said.
"Took the words right out of my mouth," Eve said.
Making their way over to where they saw the explosion, they saw a group of cops blocking the bridge and saw cars in chaos, as well as what looked to be disfigured creatures attacking the cars.
"Fall back and... form a perimeter or something," Eve tells the cops
"What, are you nuts?" The cops asked. "Get out of here!"
A car came flying at them, so Eve stepped in, quickly creating a barrier to stop it.
"Just do what rhe lady said," Peter told them.
"We'll fall back and form a perimeter," The officer said, rushing off.
"Yeah, go do that," Eve said
They then leaped over the cop car, watching one of the creations grab a car using tendrils. Peter rushed in, leaping around the car. Eve sliced through the car, but the creature tackled Eve, seemingly avoiding Peter.
Eve fought the tendrils he was wrapping around her. "Get off of me."
She sent the creature flying into a car, watching it squish into a pile of flesh.
"Well, that's disturbing," Peter said, watching him reform and melt in front of them.
"What? What's happening?" Eve asks.
"I think they're genetic experiments," Peter took a guess. "Unstable. Basically-"
"She's dying." One of them said, cautioning them to see an almost human-looking one march over, carrying a gigantic arm. "It's hard for us. We're not perfect like you."
"Who are you?" Eve asks.
"You don't know?" He asked, two more of the creatures falling aside him. "I have to speak for our siblings. They've never been out of their tanks long enough to learn to talk."
"Our siblings?" Eve clarified.
"You're Phase One," he said, gesturing to Eve. "Phase Two," he said, gesturing to himself. "Phase Three," the one on the left. "Phase Four," the one to his left. "Phase Five," referring to the pile of goo. "Each attempt less successful than the last, but all one big happy family."
"So, you got the good looks in the family," Petet joked, looking at Eve.
"Really?" Eve asks.
"Don't look at me. I don't like to be entangled in family drama," Peter said.
"Okay, so you're less good versions of me. Then this should be easy." Eve stated.
Then, an all-out brawl broke out. Phases 2-4 rushed in to attack while Eve prepared to fight, and Peter went right ahead of the strike.
Peter slid underneath one, shooting a web that latched them to a car, yanking their gooey legs clean off. He wasn't a fan of killing, but these guys were practically dead as it is.
Eve was fending them off pretty well before one cut her hip. She gasped, turning their fist into a giant parachute. The phase 2 theb grabbed her, trying to suffocate punched a portion of teh ground, watchinng it dissapear into thin air, leaving a pit to fall down into traffic.
They didn't seem to fall for it, but Peter gave her a hand. He used a webbing slingshot to smack into them, knocking them off the bridge and into the oncoming traffic. That gave them a chance to figure out their next move and Eve to heal her wound. They looked and saw that there were only two of them left.
"Look what you're doing!" Phase 2 screamed.
"What we're doing?" Eve asks. "I didn't start this. I don't even want to do this."
"I am not entirely sure I know what this is," Peter admitted.
He then used his hand to grab a car engine and threw it at them. "Then die already."
Peter quickly flipped to dodge it, using his webbing to grab ahold of the engine. Eve did the same with some rope she conjured and then tossed back, combining their speed and strength. Slamming it into the ground, they missed Phase 2. Splitting off, the two started to fight Phases 2 and 3 separately.
Peter leaped to dodge his slimey tendrils and shot webbing to try and stop him, but every web he hit him with just bounced off of him. Whatever he was, it wasn't human. It then took a swing, sending Peter flying as he took a tumble and rolled at Eve's feet.
Eve created a barrier around the two, protecting them from Phase-2 and Phase-3 as they tried to break into the barrier.
"You should really reconsider the idea of wearing a skirt into a fight," Peter told her. "Because I am seeing more than I bargained for."
"Seriously?" Eve asked in an annoyed tone.
"Hey, I wasn't trying to pick a fight with your siblings," Peter retorted. "Think I woke up this morning and think to myself, 'I wonder what kinda family drama I can get myself entangled in today'?"
"Well, like it or not..." Eve said.
"You got any ideas, Skirt?" Peter asked, still not getting off the ground.
"If they're unstable, let's give them a hand!" Eve cried, slamming the barrier that shattered on impact and then created an armor around herself using her powers.
"Okay, that's cool," Peter said, looking to see her skirt and legs were exposed. "Might wanna rethink the le- AHH!"
Peter was yanked over by Phase 3, getting him to refocus his attention on that one.
"How come I get this guy?" Peter asks. "Is it even a guy?" He ducked a tendril, grabbing another before swinging it around and knocking it into another car. "I mean, I'm still held up on the first one being a girl."
That was when he heard horns honking. Then, to turn and see, Eve was fighting Phase 2 on the opposite side of the road, causing chaos.
Peter rushed in when he saw a tanker crashing. He swooped in, ripping the door off and rescuing the driver. He swung him off and placed him safely on the ground. He continued to swing off, shooting several webs to block off the road and stop others from coming.
Eve was helping the others who were already unfortunate to be on the road.
"It's a shame we had to fight like this, sister." Phase-2 said. "We could have been a family together. Wouldn't that have been nice?"
"Sure, we could have all moved in with Dr. Brandyworth." Eve scoffed, beaten up and missing fragments of her armor. "One big freak family."
"Brandyworth. He's not our family." Phase-2 said. "We're the best they could make without him. They talk about us like we're not there. Not real. Don't matter! All we hear is how perfect you are. And how perfect we aren't."
They begin to attack Eve with pipes from the destroyed cars. Eve was beaten to the ground but was then saved by a car that came out of nowhere. Phase 3 was destroyed, leaving only Phase 2. He marched to the crashed car and pulled the door off.
"Look who it is." Phase 2 said, dangling Brandyworth off the ledge.
"Let him go!" Eve demanded.
"You actually like this monster?" Phase-2 asked with a smile. "Good."
Phase 2ndropped Brandyworth, causing Eve to shout. "No!"
That was when Peter swung back in, scooping him up under his arm as he looked up in shock.
"I got ya!" Peter said, swinging them over and placing him on the ground.
"Thank... Thank you." Brandyworth said.
Phase 2 screamed as he came back to finish the job, but Eve dropped down and used her powers to create a barrier.
"They can change into things," Eve said. "Alter their bodies. I can't do any of that."
"They wanted you to be a perfect weapon," Brandyworth explained. "But even I have a conscience. I implanted a subconscious block to prevent you from altering living tissue. You were perfect but with limits. I wasn't there to do the same with them."
Phase 2 finally beat down the barrier, but he looks like he was beginning to fall apart in the process.
"Get up," Phase 2 demanded of her. "Look at me."
"Eve?" Brandyworth said.
"Eve?" That was the first time Peter heard her name.
"Look at me." Phase 2 said. "Get up. Look at me. Look at me!"
Phase 2 then collapsed as he started to fall apart in Eve's arms.
"Wait. No!" Eve cried. "Help him."
"I can't," Brandyworth said. " I'm sorry."
"Goodbye, Eve." Phase 2 said as he literally fell apart. "I wish everything was different for us."
"They killed themselves trying to hurt me..." Eve said.
"Samantha, we have..." Brandyworth said when Eve fell over. "Samantha!"
Peter sensed more danger, causing him to groan. He looked over and saw several unmarked cars driving over.
"Brandyworth," Erickson said. "What a treat. Didn't think you'd crawl out from under your rock as well."
"Great," Peter sighed as he stood up, ready to fight even though he was exhausted. "Come on, is there any rest for the-"
Peter was shot with a dart that injected a serum into him.
"That was fast," Peter slurred, falling over and falling unconscious.
"You have to let her go." Eve heard someone say, waking up to see she and Peter were restrained. "She's just a child!
"No, she's a weapon," Erickson said. "My weapon. And it's taken me years to get her back."
"I'll come back." Brandyworh tried to bargain. "I'll make you someone else."
"You are back, Dr. Brandyworth," Erickson stated. "And you will make me more weapons like her. Starting by dissecting this one." He said, gesturing to Peter. "I wanna see what makes him tick."
"Sorry, buddy, but I'm technically peoperty of the GDA or whatever's acronym they use by technicality." Peter slurred. "These restraints are really strong..."
"Hey," Eve called out. " Let them go, and I'll stay."
"The man who tore you from your mother's womb, and the boy who murdered your siblings, and you want to save them? Adorable. But no. We have plans for all of you."
"I said you could have me but not him," Eve said, blasting her way out of her restraints.
"I told you those restraints were theoretical." The scientist said.
"Go on," Erickson said, pointing a gun at Brandyworth. "Do something else you'll regret."
"You just told me how valuable he was, stupid," Eve stated.
"I did. But now that I have Brandyworth, his research partner isn't needed anymore."
"Are you sure?" The scientist asked.
"Do it!"
They watched as a pod came out of the ground, and they looked at what looked like a corpse in a pod.
"Who... who is that?" Eve asks.
"Where do you think all your brothers and sisters came from?" Erickson asked.
"That's..."
"Good old Mom," Erickson stated.
"Oh, God!" Brandyworth cried. "She's alive."
"Technically alive," Erickson said. "We didn't get her back up and running in time to save her from massive brain damage. But, well, we both know she only had one use anyway."
Brandyworth began sobbing. "You monster!"
Peter moaned, still trying to shake off the sedative. "On days like this, I am glad to be an only child."
Brandyworth began to fight Erickson for the gun, causing a bullet to go off. The bullet ricocheted off everything before hitting the glass pod holding Eve's mother. The glass broke, sending the woman falling out of the pod.
"No!" Eve cried, shattering the last of the glass to take her mother out. "Do something!"
"She was barely alive to begin with." The scientists said.
Then there was another gunshot, and Eve looked to see Brandyworth bleeding out on the floor.
"Damn it!" Erickson groaned. "That was an accident."
"You murdered my whole family," Eve said as she teared up.
"Eve, calm down," Erickson said.
"You murdered my whole FAMILY!" Eve exploded in a course of power that shattered everything around them, even Peter's restraints. She freed Peter, dropping him from the chair, and brought the two of them up to herself. "I see it all now. Every single molecule around us. I can touch them, taste them, control them. I could rearrange your cells to make you whole new people from the monsters you are. You ruined my life. Took everything from me. Killed people I didn't even know I loved." She then removed her mask. "I am Samantha Eve Wilkins. And I defy you to even remember who I am."
Then there was darkness. Peter started to wake up and groaned as he got up and saw no sign of Eve. He even looked down, and all of the tears and rips in his suit were fixed like nothing happened. The scientist and Erickson were still there, but no sign of Eve outside of her mask on the ground.
Eve returned home to dysfunction and pain. She made it to her room and kicked a chair, knocking over a picture frame that said "my family". It had a photo of her and her parents, but she changed it to show her siblings, her real mother, and Dr. Brandyworth,
Eve teared up, not knowing what to do now. That was when there was a knock at the window. She looked up and was surprised to see Spider-Man. She walked over and made the glass disappear to talk to him.
"How did you find me?" Eve wonders.
"'I am Samantha Eve Wilkins.'" Peter repeated what she said. "You know, you should be more careful who you shout your name to. Never know what kind of weirdos there are out there listening."
Eve chuckled as she leaned on the wall. "In defense, I erased everything from their heads."
"Okay, that's fair," Peter shrugged. "But still... You let me keep the memories."
"Because... you're the only person who didn't leave. Who didn't treat me..."
"Like you're an outcast?" Peter completed her thought.
Eve smiled. "Yeah."
"Well, you showed me yours, so it's only fair I show you mine," Peter said as he then reached up and removed his mask. "My name is Peter Parker. Nice to finally meet you face to face, Eve."
Eve smiled at him. "Same for you, Peter."
"Oh, I got you something." Said Peter as he ducked down the window out of her sight.
"Wait, why?" Eve asked in confusion.
"You said it was your birthday, so I got you somethings," Peter said as he peaked his head back up.
"You didn't have to." Eve told him, but her heart was very warmed by this gesture.
Peter then reveals a small box and a small wrapped gift. "Nonsense. No one should have to spend their birthday alone, especially after what just happened. Here, open it."
Eve opened the gift to reveal a framed picture of the photo they took earlier that day before going to fight her siblings in their superhero attire. Peter leaped into the bedroom to hand her the photo. This left Eve speechless and caused her to blush as she stared at Peter, who started to blush as well from Eve staring at him.
Peter starts to act all sheepish and scratches his neck, "Well, since I just met you, I don't really know what you like, so I thought this would be nice since this is the day we became friends. And now you know if you ever need help, I'll be there."
Eve then wraps Peter up in a tight hug, spooking Peter by her sudden reaction.
"Thank you, thank you! This is the best gift I've ever gotten." Eve told him as she started to tear up a little.
"Well, uh, I also brought a cake." Peter wasn't expecting her to act this emotional over a framed photo. You know. Can't really have a birthday without one, so we should probably eat it before it melts."
Eve lets go of the hug and wipes away her tears.
"Yeah, definitely. Let's dig in," Eve said
Peter went to get the cake and entered her bedroom. She just put her gift next to other pictures, showing how she has a new friend that will always be there for her. As she did, she gave a sheepish look towards Peter and then waved her hand at the framed photo. She changed the photo so that it was Peter and Eve in normal attire sitting in a booth. She might have had some fun and put a filter that added hearts around the photo for the fun of it.
Eve then walked over towards Peter, who was holding the cake, the candle not lit yet. Eve just snapped her fingers, and the candle was instantly light.
"So make a wish." Said Peter as he smiled and presented the cake to her, saying, "Happy Birthday, Atom Eve," to a smiling Eve.
"And since then... we've been through a lot."
Three years later...
Peter and Eve were seen fighting through the city against a bunch of Peter's enemies, like the Sinister Six.
Peter is standing over a meteorite and looks down at his palm as a black goo surrounds his arm, making its way around his body to form a black suit with a white spider emblem.
Sporting a new black suit, Peter fought through the criminals in his city like they were nothing. This suit was making him stronger, faster, almost invulnerable to any kind of attack.
Until he learned the truth: it was an alien.
The Symbiote tried to take command of Peter's body. He fought through the Teen Team and made his way through the Pentagon with multiple heroes and even the Guardians of the Globe trying to stop him, but to no avail.
Learning sonic frequencies seemed to destabilize it. Robot, one of the Teen Team members, used it to stop the Symbiote and free Peter.
Back to the present day, Peter and Eve are preparing to finish the fight.
"You all good? Great! Back to the action!"
Time unfroze as Peter slid underneath the Lizard, shooting out a web to wrap around his legs and yank him down.
Eve flew in, conjuring some chains to try and keep Lizard down on the ground. Peter then leaped on top of Lizard, drawing a capable cure out of his pocket.
"Hold still, Connors!" Peter cried, trying to penetrate the skin. "This is-"
Lizard used his tail to smack Eve into the ground, causing her to lose focus. When Peter tried to hold him down, Lizard slammed him into the lockers again and again. Then he swiped Peter, sending him flying and slamming into the lockers down the hall.
After they got back up, they saw chaos left behind, but no sign of Lizard anywhere.
"Did you...?" Eve wonders.
"I got about half of it into him," Peter said, looking at the vial on the floor. He then picked it up and sighed. "Don't think it'll do any good since I don't even know if it works."
That was when the GDA finally arrived and searched around for the Lizard. Cecil showed up as he sighed and teleported in and looked around.
"Quite the mess you made, kid," Cecil commented.
"I mean, half of it was the giant lizard's fault," Peter muttered to himself. "Maybe five percent is actually mine."
"I'm going to need a debrief between the two of-" Cecil then heard some noise, turning to see Eve put up a barrier of wood that was easy to move but gave them the chance to escape, and the two of them left. He sighed and rubbed his head when he saw they had run away again. "Teenagers."
