When you were a kid in the summer of 1986, the biggest robot spectacle was The Transformers: The Movie. You were lined up in a theater with your family and friends, wanting to see this film. It promised you a movie that would be beyond your wildest imagination. But once it was all over, you left the theater crying by what you have seen in the film. That is about what happened to every other kid who had seen the movie in 1986. The film sparked backlash with fans of the original Transformers G1 Cartoon series because of all the violent deaths portrayed in it, most notably Optimus Prime. And that was the reason why Transformers: The Movie flopped at the box office. While I never watched the film as a kid as I was not even born yet, I couldn't help but feel really sorry for the kids who went to the theater with high expectations, only to have them brutally dashed. So, for this rewrite and my first fanfiction, I decided to reimagine the Battle of Autobot City as I would like to see if I were a kid at that era. Mind you, I've made changes from the actual movie to reflect my take for the Battle of Autobot City. Also, I don't own the characters from The Transformers G1 series or the Movie. They are all under the property of Hasbro. This fanfic is written by me, using ideas from other fanfics and rewrote them in a way that wouldn't infringe on the rights of their stories. Finally, I regrettably had to axe the character Acree from this fanfic, as she didn't quite fit into the story I wanted to tell, and a toy of Acree was never released to the public at the time of the movie. With all that out of the way, on to the story.
The year was 1986. The Earth was a vibrant blue marble in the inky blackness, a far cry from the metallic world of Cybertron, scarred and ravaged by war. It had been almost two years since the first clash between the heroic Autobots and the villainous Decepticons echoed across the globe. The Decepticons, in their relentless pursuit of power, had forced the Autobots off Cybertron, leaving the planet under their iron grip. But hope, like a spark in the darkness, flickered. The Autobots, led by the noble Optimus Prime, had secretly established two hidden bases on Cybertron's moons. These bases, built with Ingenuity and unwavering resolve, were the staging grounds for a daring counter-offensive. The Autobots were in the final stage of their plan, a daring assault to reclaim their home world. But to fuel their war machines and power their weapons, they needed Energon, and lots of it. The final shipment was being prepared at Autobot City, the Autobots main base of operation on planet Earth.
Unbeknownst to the Autobots, a silent, crimson predator patrolled the skies near Cybertron's largest moon. Laserbeak, the Decepticon's master of espionage, a mechanical bird of prey, was on the prowl. He was tasked with gathering intelligence on any Autobot activity, a task he relished. But aerial patrols, even for tireless Decepticons, could be monotonous. Landing on a rocky ledge, Laserbeak decided to take a short nap, his optical sensors dimmed. A sudden jolt awakened him! His circuits surged with alarm. The ground beneath him shifted! Before he could react, the rock face slid open, and he was pulled inward, into a hidden tunnel. He was inside an Autobot base!
Laserbeak, ever the efficient spy, immediately activated his recording systems. He flew silently, a metallic shadow, documenting everything he saw. He moved undetected by the Autobots as he hid and listened to their plans. He saw Autobots working on complex machinery, maps of Cybertron displayed on large screens, and rows upon rows of weapons and equipment. The Autobots really were planning for something big, and he needed to report it to Megatron. At one point, he recorded a conversation between two Technobots, Afterburner and Strafe.
"Can you believe we actually pulled this off, Strafe?" Afterburner beeped, his voice laced with pride. "Moon bases, hidden right under their noses!"
Strafe, ever the cautious one, replied, "Don't get cocky, Afterburner. We still have to keep our guard up. If the Decepticons find out about this, we're scrap metal."
"Relax, Strafe. The defenses are impenetrable. Besides, the Decepticons are too busy squabbling amongst themselves to notice what we're up to." Afterburner boasted. "Soon, we'll be giving them a surprise they'll never forget."
Laserbeak, his audio receptors working overtime, recorded every single word. This was invaluable intelligence. The Autobots were planning a surprise attack! The Decepticon spy knew he had to relay this information to Megatron immediately. He flew towards the command tower, his metallic wings cutting through the artificial atmosphere of the moon base. Spotting Optimus Prime at a window, Laserbeak landed on the ledge, camouflaged against the structure, and activated his audio receptors again.
"Ironhide!" Prime's voice boomed from the tower. "Report to me at once!"
A gruff voice answered, "Every time I look into a monitor, Prime, my circuits sizzle! When are we gonna start bustin' Decepti-Chops?!" It was Ironhide, the Autobot security officer, clearly itching for a fight.
"Soon, old friend," Prime assured him. "But first, go meet with Prowl, Ratchet, and Brawn. You're making a special run to Autobot City on Earth."
"But Prime!" Ironhide protested, his voice tinged with disbelief.
"Listen, Ironhide! We don't have enough Energon cubes to power a full-scale assault," Optimus stated firmly, ending the discussion. "Ready the shuttle for launch!"
Ironhide, filled with determination, grinned. "Your days are numbered now, Decepti-creeps."
With a nod, he dashed out to transform into his vehicle mode, ready for the mission. Laserbeak observed it all from his hidden vantage point, his recording device capturing Ironhide's departure. Back in the command tower, Optimus focused back on the screens.
"Jazz, report security status," Prime commanded.
Jazz, the ever-optimistic warrior, responded, "No signs of Decepticons here, Prime." Nearby, Cliffjumper busied himself at a control terminal, keeping an eye on their surroundings.
"What about Moon Base Two?" Optimus inquired.
"Jazz to Moon Base Two. Jazz to Moon Base Two," Jazz announced into his communicator.
On Moon Base Two, Bumblebee, the Autobot's cheerful scout, and his human friend, 15-year-old Chip Chase, received the call.
"Bumblebee and Chip here," Bumblebee responded.
"We're about to send up a shuttle. Any Decepticon shenanigans in your area?" Jazz asked.
"All clear, Jazz," Bumblebee reassured him.
Chip activated a transmission on his monitor to talk to Ironhide, who was inside the space shuttle. Beside him sat Prowl, preparing for liftoff to Earth. "Hey, Ironhide!" he called. "Tell Spike I said hi! And tell him not to worry. I'll be back to Earth as soon as we kick Megatron's tail across the galaxy!"
"Will do, Chip!" Ironhide nodded, giving a thumbs up.
Back on Moon Base One, Optimus Prime entered the room with Jazz and Cliffjumper, staring intently at the shuttle on the computer monitor.
"Cliffjumper, commence countdown," Prime ordered.
"Five, four, three, two, one...Blast off!" Cliffjumper shouted, excitement in his voice as the shuttle rocketed away in a blaze of energy. Optimus watched the shuttle disappear into the vastness of space, a mixture of hope and concern filling his circuits.
"Now all we need is a little Energon…and a lot of luck," Optimus muttered.
For Laserbeak, it was enough. He'd seen and recorded everything. He retracted his recorder, its memory banks overflowing with vital information. Carefully evading the security cameras, he took to the air, escaping the moon base and heading back towards Cybertron. The sleek, metallic bird flew through the ruins of the once-great planet, gliding effortlessly until he reached the control room of the Decepticon headquarters. As he entered, Megatron was waiting, flanked by his loyal followers, including the ever-ambitious Starscream.
"Laserbeak returns, Megatron!" Shockwave announced, upon spotting the faithful spy.
"Welcome, Laserbeak," Megatron greeted, extending his arm for the spy to land upon. "Unlike some of my other warriors, you never fail me." His eyes shifted to Starscream, who bristled at the comment.
"Soundwave, playback Laserbeak's findings," Megatron ordered.
Laserbeak soared over to Soundwave, his loyal master, transformed into a cassette, and slid into Soundwave's chest compartment.
"As you command, Megatron," Soundwave responded in his usual mechanical monotone.
Soundwave transformed into a radio and plugged into the control center's systems. The images and sounds Laserbeak had captured filled the screen. The other Decepticons crowded around, watching with grim fascination. At first, the images of Moon Base One were just confusing. It was an Autobot base, yes, but they were unaware that it was one of their secret bases. But when Soundwave played back the Technobots' conversation, a collective gasp went through the room.
Megatron slammed his fist on the console. "Autobots... planning a surprise attack! They dare!"
Starscream, ever opportunistic, piped up. "We should invade the moonbases at once, Megatron! Wipe them out before they can launch their attack!"
Megatron, however, held up a hand. "Patience, Starscream," he growled. "I want to understand the full extent of their plans before we commit our forces." He turned to Soundwave. "Continue the playback."
Soundwave obeyed, playing back the conversation between Optimus Prime and Ironhide.
"You're making a special run to Autobot City on Earth," Optimus told Ironhide. "But Prime!" Ironhide protested. "Listen Ironhide, we don't have enough Energon cubes to power a full-scale assault. Ready the shuttle for launch!" Optimus responded sternly.
Then came the recording of the shuttle launch, followed by Prime's haunting words: "Now all we need is a little Energon... and a lot of luck." Megatron's eyes sparkled with dark glee.
"More than you imagine, Optimus Prime," he said with a sinister smile.
The Autobot shuttle hummed a steady, reassuring tune as it sliced through the inky blackness of space. Inside, Prowl, ever the strategist, sat with his brow furrowed, reviewing maps of Earth. Ironhide, as usual, leaned back in his seat, grumbling good-naturedly. Brawn, muscles bulging even in his seated position, nervously cracked his knuckles. Ratchet, the medic, quietly polished his tools, a picture of calm amidst the impending battle.
"Been a long time since I've been at Autobot City," Ironhide drawled, breaking the silence. "Have any of ya fellas been there recently?"
Prowl looked up from his data pad. "I've heard it's quite impressive. They say it's the most beautiful city ever constructed. Took them nearly three Earth years to complete. A complete masterpiece of Autobot engineering."
Brawn grunted in agreement. "Heard it's heavily fortified too. Decepticons won't get near it."
Ratchet chimed in, setting down his scanner. "I heard something… peculiar. Rumor has it there's a giant within the city walls."
Brawn, ever skeptical, scoffed. "A giant? You mean Omega Supreme?"
Ratchet shook his head. "Bigger, so the rumors suggested. Bigger than even Omega."
Ironhide scoffed, his metallic skin creasing with amusement. "Now ya talking crazy talk, Ratchet. How can we have a licken giant in a city? Where would we even put him?"
Ratchet shrugged. "I don't know. Just a rumor. But everything is possible in war, isn't it?"
Brawn chuckled, unconvinced. "I'll believe it when I see it."
Suddenly, the shuttle shuddered violently, throwing them against their restraints. "Wh-What the...!" Ironhide exclaimed, his voice laced with surprise. "What's happening to the ship?!"
Prowl's sensors flared to life. "We're in an asteroid field! Evasive maneuvers, Ironhide!"
Ironhide reacted instantly, his hands flying over the controls. "Hold on tight, ya'll! We're gonna dance!" He expertly weaved the shuttle through the swirling field of rock and ice, his piloting skills honed by decades of fighting the Decepticons. At one point a massive chunk of ice, shimmering with an unnatural blue light, narrowly missed their port side.
"Slow down, Ironhide," Prowl cautioned, his voice strained. "We want to get to Autobot City in one piece."
Ironhide retorted, "If I can dodge Decepticon rays, I can sure as shootin' dodge a couple of ice chunks!" Then with a loud bang, the shuttle shuddered under a tremendous impact. Prowl and Ironhide were nearly thrown from their seats. The lights flickered ominously.
Prowl glared at Ironhide. "You were saying?"
Ironhide, visibly irked, shook his head. "That wasn't no ice chunk."
The shuttle shuddered again, this time more violently. A section of the hull exploded inward, showering sparks and debris. Emerging from the smoky breach, a contingent of Decepticons materialized, led by the menacing figure of Megatron.
Brawn leaped to his feet, roaring, "Megatron! Decepticons!" He charged headlong towards the invaders, his battle cry echoing through the confined space.
Megatron's booming voice filled the shuttle. "Surprise, Autobots!"
The remaining Autobots scrambled into action, but caught off guard, they were quickly overwhelmed. The Decepticons, with their superior numbers and tactical advantage, subdued the four Autobots, cuffing them with Energon dampeners that sapped their strength.
Megatron smirked, surveying his captive prey. "This was almost too easy, Starscream."
Starscream, hovering obsequiously at Megatron's side, replied, "Much easier, almighty Megatron, than attacking the real threat: the Autobots' Moon Bases."
The four Autobots gasped, a wave of shock washing over them. How had Megatron learned of their secret bases hidden on Cybertron's moons? The information was supposed to be top secret.
Megatron, clearly relishing Starscream's incompetence, snapped, "You're an idiot, Starscream!" He turned to Soundwave, who stood impassively nearby. "Soundwave, explain the significance of this capture to our… intellectually challenged comrade."
Soundwave, his voice flat and emotionless, stated, "Autobot City is the stronghold, supply base, and refuge of the Autobots. Without it, the Autobots lose two-thirds of their number and are left with only their two moonbases. Those moonbases are simple to surround and destroy."
"Thank you, Soundwave," Megatron said, casting a triumphant glance at Starscream, further underlining his supposed intellectual superiority. Megatron strode to the front of the shuttle, his voice dripping with malice. "When we slip by their early warning systems in their own shuttle and destroy Autobot City, the Autobots will be vanquished forever!"
Ironhide, despite the Energon dampeners, shot Megatron a defiant glare. "Fat chance, Megatron! The Autobots will be ready for you!"
"Such heroic nonsense," Megatron sneered, dismissing Ironhide with a wave of his hand. He barked an order to his troops. "Throw them in the storage compartment! I'll deal with them later."
As the four Autobots were dragged towards the storage compartment, the shuttle, now firmly under Decepticon control, continued its course towards Earth, carrying a deadly cargo of both prisoners and impending doom.
Deep in the heart of a lush, green forest on Earth, nestled amidst towering trees and sparkling streams, stood Autobot City. Sleek silver skyscrapers pierced the sky, connected by winding roads where Autobots of all shapes and sizes bustled about. It was a haven of advanced technology hidden in the quiet beauty of nature. Among these towering structures, a sprightly 12-year-old named Daniel Prentiss was racing through the bustling streets. He had a mop of messy brown hair that seemed to defy gravity and bright, curious eyes that missed absolutely nothing. He wore a white t-shirt with cool red trim around the neck and sleeves, and a big, bold red "D" right across the front, proclaiming his name with playful confidence. With his long jeans, white socks, and black and white shoes, he looked just like any other kid, blending in with the vibrant atmosphere of Autobot City.
However, Daniel was far from ordinary. He had recently befriended the Autobots, forming a unique bond with these giant robots from another planet. His closest friend among them was Hot Rod, a daring and energetic young Autobot who felt more like family than just a machine. Daniel also looked vaguely reminiscent of a young Spike Witwicky, one of the Autobots' closest human allies, which is how he earned their trust so quickly. Daniel loved spending time with the Autobots, learning about their planet, Cybertron, and their ongoing battle against the evil Decepticons. He often helped out in the repair bays, handing tools to Ratchet, the Autobot medic, or listening to stories of bravery and sacrifice from Optimus Prime, the Autobots' wise and noble leader.
As Daniel was practicing his flips in the Autobot City Plaza, Hot Rod, in his sleek, flame-emblazoned car form, approached him. The engine purred like a contented kitten, and Hot Rod's voice, coming from the car's speakers, was filled with excitement.
"Hey, Daniel! Whatcha doin'?" Hot Rod asked.
Daniel grinned, landing a perfect somersault. "Just practicing! What's up, Hot Rod?"
"I was wondering if you'd like to go with me on an adventure!" Hot Rod announced.
Daniel's eyes widened. "An adventure? Where are we going?"
Hot Rod revved his engine playfully. "Lookout Mountain! I heard the view from the top is amazing, and I thought you might like to see it."
Daniel's face lit up. He loved exploring the forests around Autobot City, and Lookout Mountain was a place he had always wanted to visit. He knew it was a place with a scenic view that showed off the beauty of nature.
"Awesome! Let's go!" Daniel exclaimed, hopping inside Hot Rod. The Autobot's interior was surprisingly comfortable, with soft seats and plenty of room for a young adventurer.
With a roar of his engine, Hot Rod sped off towards Lookout Mountain, the scenery zipping past them. Daniel could hardly contain his excitement as the world rushed by in a blur of greens and blues. Within minutes, they reached the summit, and Hot Rod came to a stop. Daniel leapt out and gazed in awe at the panoramic view. The valley below sparkled with a shimmering lake, its waters glistening like diamonds under the sun.
"It's beautiful!" Daniel exclaimed, his voice filled with wonder.
Hot Rod smiled at Daniel's reaction. "Want to check out the lake up close?" he suggested.
"Absolutely!" Daniel replied eagerly.
"Alright, hold on tight!" Hot Rod said, revving up his engines as he charged down the side of the mountain. Unbeknownst to them, the Autobots had set up a security cordon near the lake, a precaution against any Decepticon threats. Kup, Hound, Huffer, Sideswipe, and Bluestreak were working diligently to ensure the area was secure.
"A little bit to the left, a little bit more," Kup instructed, overseeing the placement of barriers.
"Can we hurry this up?" Huffer grumbled. "I have plans, you know!"
"Calm down, Huffer," Sideswipe said, rolling his optics. "We know you have nothing to do."
As they labored, Hot Rod noticed the security cordon up ahead. His optics gleamed with mischief.
"Uh-oh! Looks like we might have to smash through!" he declared, revving his engine playfully.
Before Daniel could protest, Hot Rod surged forward, crashing through the barricade like it was made of paper. Metal clanged and clattered as the Autobots scrambled out of the way, their faces a mixture of surprise and annoyance.
"Turbo-revving young punk! I'll straighten you out yet!" Kup growled from a distance, his voice fading into the background.
Once they reached the tranquil lakeside, Daniel hopped off Hot Rod, his feet landing on the soft grass. The lake was even more beautiful up close, surrounded by trees and wildflowers. The sun painted the water in hues of blue and gold, and Daniel felt a sense of peace wash over him.
"Wow," Daniel whispered, taking in the stunning sight.
He walked to the edge of the lake and dipped his fingers into the cool water. A small silver fish darted away, leaving ripples in its wake. Daniel watched the ripples spread, mesmerized by the way they distorted the reflection of the sky. This place felt special, a sanctuary away from the bustling city. Daniel then closed his eyes and began breathing deeply. He focused on the gentle sounds of nature: the rustling leaves, the chirping birds, the lapping water against the shore. He felt the warmth of the sun on his face and the gentle breeze in his hair. Then, Daniel heard his own heart beating softly in his chest. Thump-thump, thump-thump. The sound was rhythmic and comforting, a reminder of his own life force. It made him coo with delight. Each thump reminded him of how alive he felt in this incredible world, surrounded by his Autobot friends and the beauty of nature. It was serene, and in that moment, Daniel felt at home.
"I... I don't know why," Daniel thought. "But being here... It makes me feel so calm... so peaceful."
Just then, Daniel heard the sound of laughter nearby. He opened his eyes and turned to see two figures sitting near the water's edge, their fishing lines cast into the lake. He had never met them in person, but he recognized them instantly from the stories he had heard from the Autobots. It was Spike Witwicky and his girlfriend, Carly. Spike, a tall, lanky fifteen-year-old with curly brown hair, brown eyes, and fair skin, wore a simple white collared button-up shirt, jeans, and a pair of worn yellow work boots. Carly, a year older at sixteen, was a beautiful young woman with long blonde hair, bright blue eyes, and fair skin. They were sitting on a fallen log, their laughter echoing across the tranquil lake. Daniel grinned, a wave of excitement washing over him.
"Spike! Carly!" he shouted, running towards them.
Spike turned around, a surprised look on his face. "Well, look who found us."
Carly called back, a bright smile spreading across her face. "Daniel! Come on over!"
When Daniel stopped, a little out of breath, he exclaimed, "I can't believe it's really you! It's like meeting legends!" Spike chuckled. "Hot Rod told us you might be by. You must be the kid he's been buzzing about all week."
Daniel nodded eagerly. "Yeah! That's me! I'm Daniel! It's so cool to finally meet you both!"
Spike grinned. "The pleasure's all ours."
Carly stood up, brushing her hair back as she greeted the boy. "You're just in time. We were just talking about our adventures with the Autobots!"
Daniel's eyes sparkled with excitement. "What adventures? Tell me everything!"
Spike smiled and sat down beside Carly. "Well, there was this one time we fought the Decepticons near a volcano. I thought we were going to roast!"
Daniel's mouth dropped open. "No way! What did you do?"
"Bumblebee devised a plan to cool the lava while we distracted the Decepticons. It was wild!" Spike explained, flipping a small lure into the water.
"Did you catch anything?" Daniel asked, his attention momentarily diverted.
Carly shook her head, a mischievous glint in her eye. "Just a little one. He was brave enough to take the bait, but too small to keep. It reminded me of the time Spike accidentally hooked Overbite."
Daniel's brow furrowed. "Overbite? Who's that?"
"One of the Seacons, a Decepticon combiner team," Spike explained. "He's got a nasty temper and a serious appetite. He tried to eat me for hooking him!"
"Eat you?!" Daniel exclaimed, his eyes wide with horror. "How did you escape?"
Spike grinned. "In a truly heroic, albeit slightly frantic, fashion, involving a lot of yelling and a very slippery fishing rod."
Carly added with a playful smirk, "I've never gone fishing with him alone ever since."
Hot Rod, still in car form, butted in, his voice coming through the car's speakers. "Hey! Don't forget about the time I challenged the Stunticons to a race!"
Spike waved his hand dismissively. "We're getting to that, Hot Rod, hold your horses… or rather, your tires." He turned back to Daniel. "Speaking of nutty situations, Carly was telling me about the time Grimlock got super smart."
Carly took over the narration, her voice animated. "Oh, that was hilarious! Megatron, in one of his usual schemes, infused a power generator with function-inverting anti-electrons, trying to destroy the Autobots. But when Grimlock, in his usual headstrong way, bit into the generator to deactivate it, he got a massive dose of those particles. Suddenly, the big lug became a genius!"
"Grimlock? A genius?" Daniel repeated, barely able to contain his laughter.
"I know, right?" Carly laughed. "He started building all sorts of gadgets and talking in these complicated sentences nobody could understand. He seemed unstoppable!"
"And when the Decepticons traveled to another planet in search of more anti-electrons, Grimlock created the Technobots to help his friends battle the Terrorcons," she continued. "He knew the Decepticons would go to any length to win!"
"But the best part," Carly said, her eyes twinkling, "was when Grimlock gave his intelligence to the Technobot giant, Computron, to defeat the Terrorcon giant, Abominus.
"And then he was back to 'Me Grimlock king'?" Daniel asked, giggling.
Carly laughed. "Exactly!"
Spike cleared his throat. "Alright, alright, back to my stories. So, as Hot Rod so subtly reminded us," he said, rolling his eyes, "there was this time…" He trailed off, a mischievous glint in his eye. "I swear, that guy has a need… a need for speed! He just had to challenge the Stunticons to a race."
"And they cheated, right?" Daniel guessed, already knowing the Decepticons weren't exactly known for their fair play.
"Cheated? They practically bulldozed half the track! Motor Master was trying to run Hot Rod off the road, Dead End was throwing oil slicks, and Breakdown was just, well, breaking down," Spike explained, wincing at the memory. "But Hot Rod, he's a stubborn one. He pulled it off, won in a photo finish!"
Daniel sighed wistfully. "It must be really cool to be an Autobot."
Spike's expression turned serious for a moment, a shadow passing over his face. "It's not always easy, Daniel. There are sacrifices, dangers… moments when you wonder if you'll ever see another sunrise." He paused, then cleared his throat. "There was this one time when the Decepticons attacked a new rocket Air Force base. I was gravely wounded, so much so that I might not make it."
Daniel's eyes widened in concern, "Oh no! What happened?"
"To save my life," Spike continued, his voice a little strained, "Wheeljack and my dad… Sparkplug… they transferred my mind into the body of an Autobot."
"Whoa!" Daniel breathed, his eyes wide with amazement.
Carly reached out to squeeze Spike's hand, her voice full of emotion. "Spike, I never knew..."
He shrugged, a faint smile playing on his lips. "Well, it was a long time ago. And thankfully, it wasn't permanent. I'm still all human, as you can see."
"But... you were an Autobot?" Daniel pressed, his mind struggling to comprehend the idea.
"For a little while, yeah. A very clunky, mismatched Autobot," Spike admitted with a wry smile.
Carly burst out laughing. "You were a mismatched robot? Oh, Spike!"
Daniel joined in, clutching his stomach with laughter. The image of a patchwork Autobot with Spike's personality inside was too much.
"Hey! You're laughing?!" Spike exclaimed, a playful annoyance in his voice. "That was the scariest moment of my life! Imagine waking up as a walking, talking pile of scrap metal!"
"Okay, okay, we're sorry," Carly said, wiping away a tear of laughter.
Spike rolled his eyes, a reluctant smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "Alright, alright, laugh it up. But just know, I owe Wheeljack big time for that one." He cleared his throat, deciding to change the subject. "Anyway, you want to hear about a real Decepticon failure? Let me tell you about the time they tried to steal all the cream from Earth's dairy farms."
Daniel looked confused. "Cream? Why?"
Spike burst out laughing. "That's the best part! They were trying to power some ridiculous device, some kind of weather-control machine or something, using the cream's… I don't know, lactic acid or something equally ridiculous. It was the most absurd plan they ever came up with."
"What happened?" Daniel asked, his curiosity piqued.
Spike roared with laughter. "It was a complete disaster! The machine malfunctioned, and Megatron got covered head to toe in whipped cream! He looked like a giant, angry sundae! It was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen!"
Daniel erupted into fits of giggles, clutching his stomach. Carly, tears of laughter streaming down her face, could barely breathe. Finally, she composed herself, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "Okay, okay, enough about Decepticon failures. Let me tell Daniel about the time we all went to the beach!"
Daniel's laughter subsided, replaced by renewed interest. "You went to the beach with the Autobots? Really?"
Carly smiled. "I did! I even taught them how to surf – well, tried to. Bumblebee was actually pretty good!"
Daniel's eyes widened in disbelief. "You taught Autobots to surf?! No way!"
Carly laughed. "I sure did! And they even built a giant sandcastle. It was bigger than Optimus Prime!"
Spike added, with a wink at Carly, "And Carly had the most beautiful bikini in the world that day. She looked amazing out there, definitely the best-looking girl on the beach."
Carly blushed at this unexpected compliment, playfully shoving Spike's shoulder. "Oh, stop it! You're embarrassing me!" she countered playfully, then retaliated with a teasing glint in her eye. "Well, you weren't looking too bad yourself, Spike, especially in that speedo. You were looking kind of sexy in it."
Spike flushed crimson, sputtering, "Carly! I... that's not... Hey!"
The two teens began their playful banter, teasing each other with inside jokes and affectionate jabs. Daniel, watching them with a smile, realized the depth of their bond. It was a partnership forged in adventure, strengthened by shared experiences, and filled with genuine affection. As Spike and Carly teased each other, Daniel closed his eyes, imagining the scene. He could picture the Autobots clumsily attempting to navigate the waves, Optimus Prime supervising with a patient smile, and Carly looking like a true surfer girl, gracefully riding the waves alongside her robotic friends.
Seeing the dreamy look on Daniel's face, Carly smiled. "You know, Daniel, I had my own adventure helping the Autobots when the Decepticons tried to overload the power plant."
Daniel's eyes widened. "Tell me! Tell me everything!"
"Well, the Decepticons had managed to disable most of the Autobots, and they were about to blow the whole place, plunging the city into darkness," Carly explained. "I realized that the backup power system could override the Decepticon's sabotage, but I had to get to the control room first. It was a maze of corridors filled with booby traps and Decepticon drones."
Daniel leaned forward, completely engrossed in the story. "What did you do?"
Carly continued, "I used my knowledge of the plant's layout, sneaking past the drones and disarming the traps one by one. It was terrifying, but I knew I had to do it. Finally, I reached the control room and activated the backup system just in time. The Autobots, who had recovered by then, were able to defeat the Decepticons and save the city."
Daniel stood in awe, his jaw practically hitting the ground. "Wow, Carly! You're so brave!"
Carly blushed slightly. "It wasn't just about bravery, Daniel. It taught me the importance of teamwork. The Autobots aren't just machines; they're family. They look out for each other, and they always have each other's backs."
"Family! That's a great way to say it!" Daniel exclaimed. "I can't wait to be part of it!"
Hot Rod parked nearby, transformed into his robot form, and leaned down. "You already are, Daniel. You've got the spark of a true Autobot!"
Daniel felt his heart swell. "Can I help you guys the next time you have an adventure?"
Spike nodded. "Of course! Just make sure you follow Hot Rod's lead!"
"And always keep the mischief to a minimum!" Carly added, giggling.
Their laughter echoed, creating a perfect harmony. But just as they were about to share another story, chaos erupted. With four tremendous splashes, four robots landed in the lake, sending water spraying everywhere. Prowl, Ironhide, Brawn, and Ratchet sputtered and coughed, their metal bodies dented and scratched.
"What in tarnation?!" Ironhide grumbled, water cascading off his red armor.
"I told you this was a bad landing zone, Prowl!" Brawn added, shaking his head.
Daniel giggled, but Spike and Carly were less amused. "Seriously? You guys couldn't find some other place to practice your swimming lessons?" Carly complained.
Spike sighed. "We were having a nice, quiet afternoon. Was that too much to ask?"
Daniel, however, was distracted. He was staring up at the sky, pointing a trembling finger. "Guys! Look! There's a hole in the shuttle!"
Spike and Carly followed his gaze, looking up to see a crippled Autobot shuttle limping through the air, a gaping hole in its side. Hot Rod zoomed in his vision, confirming Daniel's grim discovery. He saw the unmistakable silhouette of Starscream lurking within the damaged shuttle.
"Decepticons!" Hot Rod shouted, his voice filled with alarm.
He instantly raised his arms, his plasma cannons erupting in a blaze of energy. The blasts struck the shuttle, hitting Starscream in the arm, causing him to stumble.
Inside the shuttle, Megatron roared with anger. "Starscream, you fool! You've blown our cover!"
Starscream retorted, "It was your brilliant idea to toss those Autobots out the airlock!"
Despite the internal squabbling, Hot Rod continued his relentless assault on the shuttle, his energy blasts tearing through its weakened hull. With a deafening explosion, the shuttle finally succumbed, spiraling out of control towards the ground. Realizing their cover was blown and their transportation destroyed, the Decepticons abandoned the shuttle. Megatron, his eyes burning with rage, bellowed, "Decepticons, attack! Destroy the Autobots and their human allies!"
Before Hot Rod could react, Megatron, emerging from the wreckage of the crashing shuttle, aimed his fusion cannon and fired directly at him, Spike, Carly, and Daniel.
"Get inside, quick!" Hot Rod yelled, transforming into his sleek sports car form. The humans scrambled inside, the engine roaring to life as Hot Rod sped away towards the shelter of the nearby mountains.
They weren't fast enough. A well-aimed shot from one of the Decepticons slammed into the cliff face they were driving along. The ground trembled, and a section of the cliff crumbled beneath them. Spike, Carly, and Daniel screamed as they plummeted downwards, the ground rushing up to meet them. Thinking fast, Hot Rod transformed mid-air, his robotic arms outstretched. He caught Spike, Carly, and Daniel in a desperate embrace, his powerful legs absorbing the impact as he landed heavily on a nearby hill. Blitzwing, the triple-changer Decepticon, landed below, transforming into his tank mode and aiming his massive cannon at Hot Rod. Chop Shop, the Insecticon, flew overhead, menacingly hovering above the young Autobot.
"Come on down, Autobrat," Blitzwing snarled, his voice a guttural growl.
Just when it seemed like certain doom, Kup saw the danger unfolding. He reacted with the speed and precision of a seasoned warrior. With a roar, he leaped onto Blitzwing, his aged frame crashing against the Decepticon's powerful chassis. Kup desperately tried to alter the target from hitting Hot Rod. The unexpected interference caused Blitzwing to fire prematurely. The blast, intended for Hot Rod, instead struck the hovering Chop Shop. The Insecticon, caught in the devastating explosion, plummeted to the ground, crashing into Blitzwing and knocking him off balance. Hot Rod stared at the chaotic scene, a mixture of awe and gratitude etched on his face.
"Huh… Not bad for an old-timer," he said, a hint of admiration in his voice.
Kup, dusting himself off, shot Hot Rod an unamused look. "Old timer? That's something you'll never be if you don't get back to the city!"
Before Hot Rod could respond, a familiar screech filled the air. Starscream, fueled by rage and humiliation, swooped down, his null-ray cannons charged and ready. "Let's see how you like this, fools!"
"Save it, Kup!" Hot Rod yelled, transforming back into his vehicle mode. "Let's burn rubber!"
Without another word, Kup transformed into his alt mode as well and both sped towards Autobot City, leaving the chaos of the lake behind. Even from that distance, they could see the telltale signs of battle: explosions rocking the city and plumes of smoke rising lazily into the sky. A grim realization dawned upon them: Autobot City was under attack.
High above a tower in Autobot City, Perceptor noticed smoke billowing from the distant mountains and swiftly transformed into his telescope mode. The sight that met his lens was grim: Megatron and his Decepticon army, a dark tide, were heading directly towards the city. He quickly shifted back to robot mode, his precise vocalizations filled with urgent concern.
"Ultra Magnus! A cursory evaluation of Decepticon capability indicates a distinct tactical deficiency!" he reported as Ultra Magnus, Springer, and others rushed over.
Ultra Magnus, his face etched with concern, sighed. "In other words, Perceptor…"
"We're outnumbered!" Springer finished, his voice laced with a hint of nervous energy.
He hefted his wrist-mounted blaster, firing a quick shot at Starscream, who was strafing the area with laser fire. The blast narrowly missed, forcing the Autobots to duck for cover.
Ultra Magnus swiftly organized his troops. "Springer, initiate the city's transformation sequence. Perceptor, tell Blaster to radio Prime for reinforcements. Bulkhead, gather others to defend the medical team. This is going to be a tough battle, and we need them to aid the wounded."
A blur of blue and silver materialized before them, vibrating with nervous energy. "What about me Magnus? What about me? Hm huh huh hm huh? I can help, I wanna help. What about me?" Blurr, Autobot City's resident speedster, practically vibrated with eagerness.
"Blurr, you can help me alert the others." Magnus said to Blurr.
Blurr practically vibrated with anticipation. "Absolutely, positively, definitely! Nobody can get the job done faster than I can, Nobody, nobody, nobody!" He transformed in a heartbeat, a blue streak disappearing down the corridor, his high-pitched engine whine echoing in his wake.
Ultra Magnus transformed into his armored carrier mode, Blurr already clinging to his hull, and sped off to rally the Autobot forces. Perceptor, his face etched with concern, hurried towards the communications tower to find Blaster. Bulkhead, a hulking green Autobot with a heart of gold, transformed into his armored truck form, a deep roar emanating from his engine as he rumbled away to organize the defense of the medical bay. Springer, left alone, hesitated for a moment. He knew the city's defenses were their best hope, but he also knew that Hot Rod and Kup were still en route, caught outside the city walls. Delaying the transformation sequence could buy them precious time, but it also left the city vulnerable. He made his decision. He would hold off for as long as he dared, gambling that Hot Rod and Kup could make it to safety. But time was running out. The Decepticon assault was imminent.
Finally, with a sigh of metallic resignation, he initiated the transformation sequence. The ground trembled as the city groaned and shifted, buildings unfolding and contorting into battlements. Massive artillery pieces, hidden beneath plazas and city squares, rose into position, their barrels gleaming menacingly. Automated turrets, concealed within skyscrapers, whirred to life, their targeting systems locking onto the approaching Decepticon horde. The transformation was a symphony of grinding gears and straining metal, a testament to Autobot ingenuity. Autobot City was no longer a haven, but a fortress, bristling with firepower. Meanwhile, Prowl, Ironhide, Brawn, and Ratchet, having finally made it inside the city after a desperate race, quickly sped down the corridor in their vehicle modes as it was closing, praying they wouldn't be crushed as part of the transformation. But Starscream, fueled by spite and a burning desire for glory, was right behind them, firing with the intent to destroy them all.
"Pathetic fools! There's no escape!" Starscream shrieked, his voice dripping with sadistic glee.
The Autobots, fueled by adrenaline and a will to survive, squeezed through the closing door to the control center just as it slammed shut, sealing them inside. Starscream, caught in the corridor's deadly embrace, transformed back into his robot form, his expression shifting from triumph to panic. He was about to be crushed to death, so he flew out of the closing corridor, but his foot got caught in it and he was about to be trapped, with no other ways to get out, he let out a groan, aimed his blasters at his trapped his foot and fired at it.
"Ow! My foot!" Starscream screamed, the high-pitched shriek bouncing off the metal walls. His foot, now mangled and sparking, was free. He blasted out of the corridor just as it slammed shut, leaving him limping and seething with rage.
The Decepticon assault began in earnest. Dive bombers rained down laser fire upon the city, while ground troops advanced relentlessly. The Autobots, both aerial and ground-based, retaliated with ferocity, turning Autobot City into a maelstrom of fire and destruction. On a transforming walkway, Mirage and Trailbreaker fought side-by-side, their weapons blazing. As the structure shifted beneath their feet, threatening to send them plummeting, Mirage spotted the Insecticon, Barrage, charging towards him. He dove for cover, unleashing a well-aimed blast that struck Barrage in the back, sending the insectoid Decepticon crashing down.
Suddenly, Trailbreaker saw Megatron, his fusion cannon charged and aimed directly at Mirage. Without hesitation, Trailbreaker activated his force field generator, throwing up a shimmering shield in front of his friend. The force field absorbed the brunt of Megatron's devastating blast, but the impact was so powerful that it sent both Trailbreaker and Mirage tumbling off the edge of the walkway. Trailbreaker, despite his size and bulk, landed with surprising agility, helping Mirage to his feet. They took cover behind a fallen section of the walkway, the air thick with smoke and the whine of laser fire.
"Thanks for saving me, Trail," Mirage said, his voice tight with gratitude.
"You can thank me after we win this battle," Trailbreaker replied grimly, his optics fixed on the enemy. They transformed and sped away, seeking a more advantageous position.
The civilian Autobots, caught in the initial onslaught, rushed towards the city's fortified entrances, dodging laser fire and collapsing debris. As the last refugees scrambled inside, the massive blast doors slammed shut, sealing the city. Megatron and his Decepticons unleashed their full firepower against the impenetrable walls, but to no effect.
"Breach their defenses!" Megatron roared to the Insecticons, his voice filled with rage.
Ransack and Shrapnel, the gluttonous Insecticons, eagerly accepted the challenge. Sweeping in, they began their gruesome work, their mandibles tearing into the reinforced metal with horrifying ease.
"Mm… delicious, eh Shrap-mate," Ransack gurgled, devouring a chunk of the city gate.
"Eh, a little heavy on the electrons, electrons," Shrapnel complained, his voice a crackling rasp.
As the Insecticons were about to break through, Kup and Hot Rod arrived at the semi-gap between the entrance and the destroyed bridge.
"The Insecticons are in our way," Kup grumbled, his voice laced with frustration.
"Wrong! They're our way in," Hot Rod shouted, his youthful energy undimmed by the chaos. He roared forward, slamming Ransack onto the bridge and Shrapnel onto his back. Ransack scrambled to climb onto the bridge, but Kup, with a brutal precision born of countless battles, crushed the Insecticon's head beneath his wheels. He then used his momentum to knock Shrapnel off the edge, before the entrance was double-sealed, trapping the Autobots safely inside.
Meanwhile, in the communication defense tower, Blaster manned a cannon, blasting at the flying Decepticons with unrelenting enthusiasm. "Look out and shout! Oow!" he cheered, feeling the adrenaline rush through his circuits.
Perceptor entered the tower, a rare smile gracing his face. "Hey, Perceptor, what's shaking other than this fortress?" Blaster exclaimed, his voice booming across the room.
"Blaster! Ultra Magnus sends orders to contact Optimus Prime on Moon Base One! The situation is dire!" Perceptor shouted, his voice strained with urgency.
"Alright, cover your receptors Perceptor." Blaster input several commands before transforming into a radio and plugging in to set up the transmission. "Optimus Prime, do you read me!? The Decepticons are blitzing Autobot City! We're really taking a pounding! Don't know how much longer we can hold out!"
Megatron, observing the communications tower and realizing the Autobots were attempting to contact Optimus Prime, snarled in fury.
"Soundwave!" he bellowed. "Jam that transmission! Now!"
Soundwave, ever the obedient servant, moved swiftly to obey. He released his mini-cassette warriors. "Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, Ratbat, eject! Operation: Interference."
The Decepticon mini-cassettes transformed and landed on top of the tower. Rumble and Frenzy wreaked havoc, smashing the satellite dish and ripping apart the communication cables.
"First we crack the shell," Rumble laughed maniacally as he used his piledriver arms to smash the reinforced glass. "Then we crack the nuts inside!"
Once the hole was large enough, the mini-cassettes jumped down into the tower, attacking Perceptor, who tried to fend them off.
"Run, Blaster!" Perceptor cried, struggling against the onslaught. "Save yourself!"
"No way! Two can play!" Blaster retorted, kicking Ravage away from him. "Sic 'em!"
Blaster ejected his own mini-cassettes: Steeljaw, Ramhorn, Eject, and Rewind. The Autobot mini-cassettes joined the battle, a chaotic melee of metal limbs and Energon blasts. With the Decepticon mini-cassettes distracted, Blaster and Perceptor seized the opportunity to regroup.
"Do you think you got through to Prime?" Perceptor asked, his voice laced with concern.
"Let's hope so," Blaster replied. "Cause if I didn't, we're all gonna look like burnt-out toaster ovens."
It was sunset when the glowing orange horizon cast shadows over Autobot City. The air buzzed with tension as Decepticons swarmed like a storm cloud around the perimeter walls. Inside the city, the Autobots were preparing for a fierce struggle, knowing that the fate of the precious stronghold hung precariously in the balance.
Inside the fortified walls, a frenzied Blurr zipped back and forth, his voice a high-pitched whine of urgency. "We've got Decepticons in the gates, Decepticons in the air, Decepticons inside the walls, Decepticons, Decepticons, Decepticons! If we beat them off the walls, they're still in the air. If we shoot them out of the air, they're still at the gates. So, where that leaves us? Nowhere! That's where!" He punctuated his frantic speech with bursts of laser fire, targeting Decepticon jets screaming overhead.
In a hidden missile turret silo, Springer grunted as he heaved a missile launcher into position. His arms strained against the weight and sweat glistened on his metallic brow. "Come on, Bulkhead!" he yelled, his voice sharp and focused. "We gotta get this launcher into place! Megatron's making his big push, and we gotta push back!"
Bulkhead, his usually jovial face etched with grim determination, joined Springer, grunting with effort. "This thing weighs a ton of Cybertronian steel! Just remind me why we don't have a remote control for this bad boy?"
Together, the two Autobots grunted and pushed, their servos whirring as Wheeljack limped over, clearly injured but fervently determined.
"Let me give you two a hand!" Wheeljack said, shooting a metal arm forward to help.
"Wheeljack, you're damaged! You can't push yourself!" Springer spat, the urgency rising in his voice.
"Come on! I may be hurt, but I can still fight," Wheeljack protested, his defiance palpable.
As the three Autobots struggled, Hot Rod and Kup dashed in to lend their strength. "Keep at it, Springer my boy. Help's at hand," Kup reassured, his voice steady.
"I'm glad you two decided to join the fight instead of guarding," Wheeljack quipped, a slight smile breaking his serious demeanor.
"After you help us, you need to get to the doc! You need to patch up!" Kup insisted.
"Don't worry about me! I can still throw a few punches!" Wheeljack retorted, his pride unyielding.
Suddenly, three figures appeared in the doorway, silhouetted against the fiery sunset. It was Spike Witwicky, his face grimy but determined, his girlfriend Carly by his side, and trailing slightly behind them, was Daniel. They rushed forward, adding their weight to the colossal launcher. Grunts and groans filled the silo as Autobot and human alike strained together. Finally, with a deafening screech of metal against metal, the launcher clicked into place. Carly wiped sweat from her brow.
"I was afraid we'd be trapped outside the city," she admitted to Spike, her voice trembling slightly.
"Hey, I wasn't worried for a microsecond," Spike said, attempting a reassuring smile that didn't quite reach his eyes. He then turned to Daniel, his expression softening. "You okay, buddy?"
Daniel nodded enthusiastically, his eyes wide with a mixture of fear and exhilaration. "Yeah! This is... this is amazing! I mean, it's scary, but it's also... awesome! It's the first time I've ever seen a battle up close!"
Carly gave him a look. "Then you probably don't understand the situation."
But Daniel's gaze turned serious. "I do, Carly. That's why I wanted to help. The Autobots… they're like a family to me. And so are you and Spike. I'd rather fight side-by-side with you guys and the Autobots than cry in a corner." He paused, taking a deep breath. "I know how bad it looks out there. I might not make it…" He paused again, a sincere smile illuminating his face. "And if I don't… if I die… I'd rather die with my friends, fighting for something that I believe in."
"Daniel..." Carly finally said, her voice choked with emotion.
She exchanged a look with Spike, a silent acknowledgment passing between them. Daniel, despite his young age, possessed the unwavering courage and loyalty that defined a true Autobot. He had a metal heart beating in his metal soul. A sudden alarm blared through the silo, cutting through the tense silence. Wheeljack rushed to the window, his optics widening in alarm.
"Constructicons! Merge for the kill!" Megatron ordered, and a chill ran through the Autobots.
"Uh, guys," Wheeljack warned, his voice trembling. "We have a big problem! Literally!"
Kup peered over, his expression grim. "Devastator."
The six Constructicons – Scrapper, Hook, Bonecrusher, Long Haul, Mixmaster, and Scavenger – were in the process of combining. Metal groaned against metal as they transformed and interlocked, their individual forms merging into a single, towering monstrosity. Devastator stood before them, a hulking giant of green and purple, his optics glowing with malevolent energy.
"Prepare for extermination!" Devastator roared, his voice a cacophony of distorted metal. Raising a single, massive fist, he brought it crashing down on one of the defense cannons, crushing it into a mangled heap of twisted metal. Then he turned his attention to the fortress wall, pounding it with earth-shattering blows. Each impact dented the reinforced metal, sending tremors through the entire structure.
"I got better things to do tonight than die," Springer grunted, grabbing an explosive shell. He shoved it into the launcher and pulled the trigger. The missile roared downrange, slamming directly into Devastator's chest with a deafening explosion. More missiles followed, peppering the behemoth with explosions. However, the missiles also started hitting other Decepticons, killing one Insecticon Venom. Enraged, Devastator tore a massive metal wall from a nearby building and hurled it at the silo. The five Autobots and the three humans scrambled for cover as the wall crashed down, burying the launcher under tons of debris.
The battle raged on through the night, a chaotic symphony of explosions, laser fire, and grinding metal. The Autobots fought with courage and determination, but the Decepticons, driven by Megatron's insatiable hunger for power, pushed them back inch by inch. Despite the intensity of the fighting, neither side sustained any fatal casualties. However, the Autobots were slowly losing ground, their defenses crumbling under the relentless Decepticon assault. By the time dawn broke, painting the sky in hues of bruised purple and grey, Autobot City was a ravaged wasteland. The once pristine towers were now scarred and broken, the streets littered with debris and the wreckage of war. All of Autobot City's defenses had been destroyed, and the Decepticons were poised to break through the final line of resistance. The possibility of a wholesale slaughter at Decepticon hands now seemed horrifyingly imminent.
"Their defenses are broken! Let the slaughter begin!" Megatron roared, his voice filled with triumphant malice.
Then, a distant humming grew louder, morphing into a powerful roar. Megatron turned, his red eyes narrowing. An Autobot shuttle, streaking across the sky like a silver comet, was heading directly towards the city. Inside the shuttle, Optimus Prime, his face grim but resolute, piloted the ship alongside Sunstreaker. Behind them, the Dinobots, their massive forms barely contained within the shuttle's cargo hold, awaited their moment.
"Dinobots! Destroy Devastator!" commanded Optimus, and with a deafening roar, they sprang into action.
"Me Grimlock love challenge!" shouted the mighty Grimlock as he, along with Slag, Sludge, Snarl, and Swoop, jumped from the shuttle, their transformation instantaneous and powerful.
The Dinobots charged headlong into the fray, and as they leapt onto Devastator, the battle took a fierce turn. Devastator fought back, knocking Grimlock aside and lashing out at the others. Sludge was thrown to the ground, and Slag collided with a wall but managed to regain his footing. The tide of the battle shifted again as Swoop attempted to tackle Devastator, only to become trapped under debris. But the Dinobots were nothing if not persistent. They regrouped, their eyes burning with fury. Then, with a coordinated roar, they revealed their biggest surprise.
With a series of complex transformations, the Dinobots began to combine. Grimlock formed the torso, Sludge and Snarl the legs, and Swoop and Slag the arms. They were creating something new, something more powerful than any of them individually. Volcanicus was formed for the very first time. Volcanicus towered over Devastator. He was a hulking behemoth of immense power, formed from the brute strength and primal fury of the Dinobots. He roared, a sound that shook the very foundations of the city.
Volcanicus was more than a match for Devastator. He moved with a surprising speed, dodging Devastator's clumsy blows. The Decepticons watched in disbelief as their prized combiner struggled against the might of the Dinobots' combined form. Then with a mighty heave, Volcanicus lifted the Constructicon giant and hurled him into a nearby wall. The impact was devastating. Devastator disassembled into the individual Constructicons, who scattered in disarray. The Dinobots separated, their dinosaur forms hot on their trail. The Autobots cheered as their foes fled, but the battle was far from over. As Optimus Prime emerged from the shuttle, Hound rushed to his side.
"What's the situation?" Prime inquired.
"Holding strong, but we can't take much more, sir," Hound reported, his usual upbeat demeanor clouded by concern. "We've countered, but the Decepticons are relentless."
"I understand. We must end this battle, but my first priority is the safety of all Autobots and our human allies," Prime declared, steel in his voice. "Megatron must be stopped... no matter the cost."
With a roar of engine power, Optimus transformed into his truck mode, tires spinning as he barreled toward the heart of the conflict, a guardian racing to protect his home. Momentarily distracted by the formidable Dinobots, The Decepticons turned their attention back to the approaching Autobot leader. Thrust and Shrapnel were the first to react, moving to intercept him. Optimus rammed into them with the force of a freight train, sending them crashing into the debris-laden streets. Blitzwing barely dodged out of the way, allowing the Decepticons to open fire.
Undeterred, Optimus transformed mid-air, his iconic form solidifying as he drew his ion blaster. He rained down fire on the enemy with pinpoint accuracy. Ramjet crumpled, then Barricade, followed by the stoic Soundwave, each brought down by Prime's unwavering assault. Landing with a metallic thud, he unleashed a barrage on the Seekers Bitstream and Hotlink, leaving them crippled on the ground. Blitzwing, fueled by rage, charged at Prime, but the heroic leader jumped over him, blasting the triple-changer in the back as he passed. Astrotrain, seeing his comrade fall, barreled towards Prime, only to be lifted and hurled into Octane and Dirge, sending them all crashing into a heap.
Inside the ruins of the city, Ultra Magnus lay wounded, Megatron towering over him, fusion cannon primed for the kill. But a long shadow fell across Megatron's face. He turned, a snarl twisting his features as he saw his nemesis standing tall.
"Prime," Megatron hissed, his voice dripping with venom.
"One shall stand, one shall fall," Optimus declared, his voice resonating with unwavering resolve.
"Why throw away your life so recklessly?" Megatron sneered, clenching his fist.
"That's a question you should ask yourself, Megatron," Optimus replied, his stance unwavering.
"No! I'll crush you with my bare hands!" Megatron bellowed, launching himself forward, tackling Optimus and sending both of them crashing to the ground.
The two leaders engaged in a brutal, earth-shattering brawl. Decades, no, centuries, no, millions of years of hatred and animosity erupted in each blow. They wrestled, they punched, they kicked at each other. Below, Hot Rod watched the struggle with growing anxiety. "I've got to help Prime," he said, his voice tight with urgency.
Kup grabbed his arm, holding him back. "Stay away, lad. That's Prime's fight," he said, his voice gruff but firm.
"Kup, what are you doing? We need to help!" Hot Rod protested, struggling against Kup's grip.
"No, we don't. We'll only get in the way. Besides, Megatron is far too powerful for us to handle. We'll be slagged the second we get between them. Prime can deal with Megatron alone," Kup insisted, his gaze fixed on the battling leaders. He had faith in Optimus, faith born from countless battles fought side-by-side. Optimus would emerge victorious. He had to.
On the ground, the battle raged on. Megatron fought dirty, using every trick and weapon at his disposal. He wielded his fusion cannon with savage abandon, grabbed a jagged piece of metallic debris to slash at Optimus, and even used a discarded laser sword to try and gain the upper hand.
Prime endured some attacks, avoided others, and battered Megatron with his bare fists.
"I'll rip out your optics!" Megatron spat, struggling to reach for Prime's face.
Finally, with a mighty heave, he threw Megatron face-first onto the ground. He retrieved his laser rifle, aimed it at Megatron's head.
"Finish him off, Prime! Do it now!" Kup yelled, still restraining Hot Rod.
Although wounded, Optimus's vital systems were still functioning. Megatron, however, was severely battered. He could no longer fly or transform. His fusion cannon lay useless in a pile of debris. But the Decepticon leader was far from helpless. His optics darted around, searching for any advantage. He spotted a discarded blaster, hidden from Prime's view by a pile of rubble. A sinister idea sparked in his mind.
Feigning defeat, he cried out, "No more, Optimus Prime! Grant me mercy, I beg of you!"
"You, who are without mercy, now plead for it? I thought you were made of sterner stuff," Optimus said, his blaster trained on Megatron, wary of any trick the Decepticon might pull.
As Megatron slowly inched his way closer to the blaster, his optics flickered with a malevolent glint. He caught sight of three young humans huddled amongst the rubble: Spike, Carly, and Daniel. A cruel smile spread across Megatron's face. This was better than he could have hoped for.
"Oh, I am, Prime, believe me," Megatron smirked, grabbing the hidden weapon. He unleashed a volley of energy blasts. Four, perhaps five, shots flew towards the terrified children.
Optimus Prime acted without hesitation. With a speed that belied his size, he threw himself in front of Spike, Carly, and Daniel, shielding them from the deadly barrage. The blasts slammed into his metallic frame, each impact sending jolts of pain through his circuits. He staggered, groaned, and then crashed to the ground, his protective act buying the humans precious seconds. Megatron rose, his victory assured. He strode over to the fallen Optimus, preparing to deliver the killing blow.
"I would've waited an eternity for this," Megatron hissed. "It's over, Prime."
But just as he was about to pull the trigger, a burst of energy struck him from behind. Hot Rod, having finally broken free from Kup's grip, had charged into the fray.
"No, you don't, Megatron!" Hot Rod shouted, his blaster smoking.
The surprise attack caught Megatron off guard. He stumbled, giving Optimus the opening he needed. With a surge of adrenaline, Optimus found his footing, his hands gripping his laser rifle. He aimed, his optics locked on Megatron, and, with a roar, pulled the trigger. "Never!"
A massive blast of energy erupted from the rifle, striking Megatron squarely in the chest. The force of the impact sent the Decepticon leader hurtling backwards, off the edge of the ruined building. He crashed onto the solid ground below with a sickening thud. Spike, Carly, and Daniel rushed to Optimus, peering over the edge. Megatron lay broken and motionless, a gaping hole burned through his chest, his metallic frame twisted and scarred.
A mortally wounded Megatron sputtered his final words, his voice a ragged rasp. "No! No!... This can't be! I am... Megatron! I... cannot be defeateeeed…" His optics flickered and died, leaving behind empty sockets staring up at the sky.
Silence descended upon the battlefield. Kup, Hot Rod, Spike, Carly, and Daniel stared in shock, their faces reflecting the enormity of what had just transpired. Even Optimus Prime seemed stunned by the finality of it all. The leader of the Decepticons, the tyrant who had terrorized the galaxy for millennia, was finally defeated. Spike and Carly erupted into cheers, their relief palpable. Daniel quickly joined them, his young voice ringing with excitement. The Autobots, witnessing their leader's victory, roared their approval, their spirits lifted by this momentous occasion. Only Optimus Prime remained silent, his optics clouded with a mixture of relief and somber reflection.
The Decepticons, witnessing the demise of their leader, were demoralized. Their spirit broken, they began to retreat. Starscream, ever opportunistic, saw his chance to seize power. He swaggered toward Megatron's body, a cruel grin on his face. "Well, Mighty Megatron, it looks like you've finally met your well-deserved end." He chuckled, then callously kicked the remains of his fallen leader.
Turning to Astrotrain, he barked, "Astrotrain, transform, and get us out of here!"
Soundwave went over to Megatron's carcass and picked it up, dragging it with him. Rumble bent down to grab Megatron's discarded fusion cannon. Astrotrain transformed into his train mode, the sound echoing through the ruined city. The remaining Decepticons rushed towards him, carrying their wounded and dead. The Autobots, rejuvenated by their victory, unleashed a final volley of fire, driving the Decepticons closer to complete defeat.
"The Decepticons are retreating!" Carly exclaimed, relief washing over her.
"Prime did it! He turned the tide!" Spike echoed, his voice filled with disbelief and excitement.
With the last of the Decepticons safely aboard, Starscream yelled, "Astrotrain! Take off!" The Triple Changer transformed into his shuttle mode and blasted off from Earth, leaving behind a battlefield littered with the wreckage of war and the echo of Megatron's defeat.
With the dust settling, Optimus stood amidst the ruins of Autobot City, taking in the devastation left in the wake of the conflict. Ultra Magnus limped forward, nursing a dented shoulder. Kup followed him, approaching Optimus with an understanding look. "You did it, lad. You've done what most of us thought was impossible. Megatron's gone."
"After millions of years, the war may finally have a chance to end," Ultra Magnus said, stepping beside Optimus. "This could be the dawn of a new era for us all."
But Optimus Prime's expression remained somber. He turned away from his allies and stared at the horizon, the distant sunlight casting long shadows across the battlefield.
"Perhaps," said Optimus, his voice deep yet tinged with sorrow. "But we must not be hasty in our hope. Megatron may be gone, but the Decepticons are far from defeated. And with his death, there will be chaos among their ranks."
Kup nodded grimly. "Aye, lad. Starscream's not likely to quietly take up leadership without a power struggle. The Decepticons'll tear themselves apart before they're done." Optimus sighed, lowering his weapon. "But even in chaos, they remain a threat. Starscream's ambition knows no bounds, and desperation can make a wounded enemy even more dangerous."
Ratchet, his medical bay now a triage center amidst the rubble, approached them, transforming into robot mode to stand before Optimus and the two Autobots.
Optimus turned to Ratchet and asked, "Report, Ratchet. Casualties?"
Ratchet shook his head, a rare hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Miraculously, Prime, no Autobot was killed. Many are wounded, but none are critical. And... the humans. All accounted for. Daniel's parents survived the evacuation."
Optimus's optics glowed with relief. "A true miracle. Even with Megatron gone, this, in itself, is a victory."
Optimus activated his comm-link, his voice resonating with hope and determination. "Attention, all Autobot units on Cybertron and its moons. Autobot City is secured. Our comrades and human allies are safe. I repeat, all are safe. Megatron is no more."
On Cybertron and its moons, the news sparked an eruption of cheers. Autobots, weary from their own battles, rejoiced at the prospect of a future free from Megatron's tyranny. On Moon Base Two, Bumblebee and Chip Chase, his face beaming with joy, listened intently. "He did it! Megatron's gone! And Spike and Carly are safe!" Chip exclaimed.
Bumblebee buzzed excitedly. "We should send them a message, Chip!"
"Already on it, Bumblebee!" Chip replied, his fingers flying across the keyboard.
As the sun rose higher, bathing the city in golden light, the Autobots gathered to celebrate their hard-fought victory. Spike and Carly huddled together amongst the rubble, exhausted but alive. Daniel slept soundly between them, his small form nestled safely in their arms. The weight of the day had taken its toll, but the future shone brighter now.
"We made it," Spike murmured, holding Carly close.
"We did," Carly replied, a weary smile on her face. "What do we do now?"
"We rebuild," Spike said firmly. "We start again. We build a future for Daniel. A future without Megatron hanging over our heads."
Carly looked down at Daniel and noticed he was clutching a small Autobot toy of Optimus Prime in his arms. The plastic figure, battered and scratched, was a symbol of hope amidst the despair. "He was so brave," she whispered, her voice filled with admiration for the young boy who had faced such unimaginable terror. "More brave than I could ever imagine."
Spike squeezed her hand. "We all were. And we're going to be okay."
Carly leaned closer to Daniel, her ears picking up the softest of sounds. He was mumbling in his sleep. She strained to hear what he was saying. A single word drifted from his lips, barely audible, yet filled with unwavering admiration. Carly smiled, a wave of affection washing over her.
"What is he saying?" Spike asked, his brow furrowed with concern.
Carly looked up at Spike, her eyes shining with unshed tears. "Just one word... Optimus."
Spike smiled. "He really does have the heart of an Autobot, doesn't he? Spending all that time with them has done something to him in a way we could never have imagined."
Carly's adoration was clear as she looked down at Daniel and pushed a stray strand of hair from his forehead. She gently stroked his hair, her touch filled with love and affection. He cooed softly in his sleep and whimpered the same word, "Optimus…"
Carly giggled affectionately, and leaning in close, she plants a kiss on Daniel's forehead. Spike looked down at them both with affection and protectiveness, feeling a sense of hope bloom in his chest.
"There's always hope." Carly whispered as she brushed Daniel's hair aside.
The dawn was breaking, casting a golden glow over the ruined city. The fight was far from over, but in that small pocket of safety, amidst the rubble and the wreckage, there was hope. Hope for a new beginning, hope for a future free from the tyranny of Megatron, and hope that, perhaps, one day, peace would finally come to Cybertron and to Earth. For now, they had each other, and they had the memory of Optimus Prime's bravery, a beacon of light in the darkest of times. And that, they knew, was enough to keep them going.
Well, there you have it. My take on The Battle of Autobot City. I set the year for this fanfic to 1986, the year the film was released. I also added The Technobots and a few Transformers that appeared in later years like Bulkhead and the Decepticon cop Barricade from the 2007 live-action movie. As for Daniel, I reimagined him as a young boy who recently befriended the Autobots instead of being Spike's son. Daniel's last name came from a first draft of the movie Chris McFeely found and posted on , it really helped a lot me to differentiate the Daniel from the Movie we've seen to the Daniel I had in mind. I also wanted to include Daniel's mother Ellen Prentiss from the first draft into this fanfic. But the more I wrote, the more I realized that she wouldn't fit into the story I'm telling. So, rather than axing her entirely, I wrote a line for Ratchet revealing that Daniel's mother survived the evacuation along with his father. This way, Ellen would have a sort of presence in the story without undermining the story I wanted to tell. Finally, I removed the deaths of the Autobot characters in the film, including Optimus Prime. Also, by adding the two seekers Bitstream and Hotlink, and by damaging and/or killing off the four Insecticons, Chop Shop, Barrage, Ransack, and Venom, along the Decepticon leader Megatron, this would give a new origin story for Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge with his huntsmen the sweeps. In other words, Unicron revives Megatron and still transforms him into Galvatron, while Hotlink becomes Cyclonus, with Bitstream and the four Insecticons turning into Scourge and the Sweeps. I hope you liked it, if not, I understand. After all, it is my first fanfic. Let me know what you think on the reviews above.
