Harry GOT Ch 1
Harry being born – Casterly Rock
Harry wakes up confused and in pain. His memories were very cloudy, as it was hard to concentrate on anything beyond food and basic needs. He is born one year after Joffrey as Hadrian Baratheon in a new world that he would come to know as Planetos. Unknown to most, he is the only trueborn son of King Robert and Queen Cersei, rulers of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.
It was two full years until all 190 years' worth of memories return from Harry Potter, his previous life. On the day of his birth, there was a red comet, the earth shook, and a phoenix burst into the birthing room with Harry and bonded to him. The phoenix sang a song and helped smooth his birth. The bird terrified everyone but hovered over Harry and proved impossible to catch or harm, as it would fly or flash away when any would come near it, sometimes burning those who dared approach or harm it.
Harry thought it was Fawkes from his previous life, but this phoenix was male and slightly larger. Over the next few years, he grew fast. He was very large for his age and strong. He learned to read and studied this new world he found himself in. He was universally liked by pretty much everyone, as he was a perfectly well-behaved, mature, and intelligent child, although feared for the strange things that happened all around him as well as his unnatural intelligence.
While he was a baby, he had bouts of accidental magic. Robert and Cersei had woods witches, maesters, red priests, septons, and anyone else come and inspect their magic child. They heard dozens of prophecies about him—that he would have multiple queens and wives, that he was the Prince That Was Promised to save the world and usher in a golden age, that he was Azor Ahai reborn—as well as many others not as positive, that painted him as a demon or destroyer.
Melisandre and two other red priestesses showed up and declared him Azor Ahai reborn. This was kept relatively quiet, but rumors abounded of the magical prince. The Faith declared him blessed by the gods after the Lannisters and Robert threatened and bribed the High Septon to declare him blessed and not cursed.
He started training his body slowly as soon as he could walk. He matured quickly and looked like he was eight instead of four. He began on his Occlumency, which he discovered worked the same as his old world, much to his relief. It was improving rapidly and helped greatly with his information recall and retention.
His magic was very weak and not as refined as it was in his old world. Luckily, runes still worked but were much harder to enchant and had to be charged by a magical quite often, as there wasn't really any ambient magic. It seemed the magic in the world that was outside an object was slowly sucked away by something he didn't understand.
By the time he was four, he could only levitate small objects for a minute or so. He could heal small wounds, and his use of life, fire, air, and lightning powers were a little easier due to his natural affinity he received from his bond with Fawkes and his Targaryen and Durrandon ancestry. He could also enchant the vanishing and water rune about once a month, but not much else.
He began knife-throwing at three and his sword training at four. His phoenix was always around him, watching, and he could feel the bond slowly grow. He began being able to feel magic just before his fourth birthday, along with his ability to see ghosts.
There weren't many ghosts in this world, it seemed, as you had to be a strong magical person and have something happen to cause you to be a ghost. He found six ghosts so far in the Red Keep, all belonging to dragonriders of within the past 300 years. Only one was willing to speak to him about their life, and it just so happened to be Maegor the Cruel.
The ghost was a sadist and quite insane. But fortunately, he had a good deal of knowledge, as he was likely the only one still around that knew all the secret passages in the Red Keep. He finally persuaded him to reveal all the secrets of the Red Keep and everything else he knew when he was alive about history and politics.
He took to wandering around, feeling out all the magic he could. The only magic that seemed to be left was under the Red Keep. He spent lots of time down with the dragon bones in the vault-like tunnels under the castle, where he could feel all the incredible magic from the dragon bones.
He eventually sensed magic coming from a wall in one of the tunnels and snuck out later by himself to investigate alone, without his guard. He spent weeks studying the wall before he figured out it was blood-locked to the blood of the dragon. Harry, having the dragon blood of his great-grandmother and many other ancestors, along with his silver-white bangs in front of his coal black hair—a classic trait in the Baratheon line that popped up every few generations due to interbreeding with the Targaryen family—cut himself, and the wall clicked open.
The inside was a vault. All along the left side were bookshelves filled with books and scrolls. The right side was lined with shelves filled with items like jewelry, vases, weapons, and other artifacts. In the middle, there was an area with sixteen chests filled with gold dragons, silver stags, and coppers. Harry was in awe of his find.
He couldn't help but be drawn to the only magic in the room, which was an opal/ivory-like fan reminiscent of the foldable fans he remembered from China. It was white with a pretty design and, when unfolded, had a diamond-like jewel holding it together. He touched the edge of the fan—he learned it was razor-sharp as he cut his finger and began bleeding on the fan, whose magic flared, and he felt a huge power enter him. The fan disappeared in a gust of wind.
It took him a week to learn what happened. He now had an elemental focus like a wand for the element of air. He made leaps and bounds controlling the elements of air, sending gusts of wind. It also made all wind runes and spells much easier, and he was making much more progress in those areas of his magic.
He was also studying all the books and scrolls in the vault almost every night. Most were just history books, maps, or records, but there were several scrolls on the blood magic of the Valyrians and even two on the water magic of the Rhoynar. He had a hard time reading them, as his High Valyrian was not perfect.
He learned from the books that the fan was called Harpies' Wind and was taken from the Volantis army when Aegon the Conqueror joined the alliance to end the Century of Blood, destroying a fleet in Lys. Volantis had it from Valyria, who got it from the Ghiscari, who used it to fight the dragons and help expand their empire. It was even apparently used to create the legendary Harpies of Ghis.
The books on Valyrian blood magic gave a small insight into the magic of the Valyrian Freehold, which all seemed to be blood magic and alchemy with blood. It was all sacrificial magic. It was just a basic overview with a few rituals and did not contain any actual spells.
This did give him ideas and insight into magically enhancing and breeding animals, as well as using sacrificial magic to enhance humans. Oddly enough, the water magic books spoke about requiring a ritual with the Rhoynar god to gain a certain amount of control over water. He was trying hard to figure out the magic system in this world.
His prevalent theory was the air gem that was in the fan was one of several for each element. He learned the fan itself wasn't the source of the magic but the stone at the base. The fan slats were made of an opal meteorite, similar, he guessed, to the sword Dawn, and were linked to the stone through magic. If he tried hard, he could actually change the look of the fan, as it seemed to be moldable. He had a theory he could create any object and connect the stone to it, then the magic would saturate the fan, linking the two together.
There were many other amazing finds in the vault—many things the Targaryens were able to purchase over the years. It seemed they collected anything they could get of Old Valyria. Two things in particular he was in awe of: the Valyrian steel sword Blackfyre and Aegon's Valyrian steel crown, which hadn't been seen since the Dance of Dragons.
He kept his discovery a secret, as he didn't want to lose possession of his find. He left the Valyrian steel in the vault. There were many who would like to get their hands on the treasure within the room. He would continue to study as much as possible from Grand Maester Pycelle so he could better understand the contents of the vault.
Two moons after he turned four, he received an odd message. The message itself wasn't odd, but the delivery was. A crow found him when he was studying in the garden and got his attention. The crow attempted to enter his mind, which shocked and surprised him. He saw visions of the God's Eye island, weirwoods, and what could only be the Children of the Forest.
He took a week to figure out how to forward all his plans for this world, especially now that he had financial resources to make some moves. He had a pretty good relationship with most people at court, but even though everyone knew he was a genius prodigy, he was still only treated like a child.
He had to fight to learn the sword, High Valyrian, advanced maths, engineering, politics, etc. He thought long and hard until he went and spoke to someone who, although seemed to be unnerved by his presence, treated him more like an adult and usually answered his questions.
He approached Varys the Spider and asked for his help. He needed someone trustworthy to run various errands and would follow his directions. The Spider was very interested in what Hadrian was up to, but told him of the red priests that were coming to the city who would do whatever he asked of them.
He was shocked to learn that they were just waiting around in the town for him. He was aware of some of the rumors and prophecies about him that the servants whispered about, but didn't know they were already there waiting for him to lead them. He wanted to smirk but refrained.
He asked the Spider if he could set up a meeting with the leader, to which Varys agreed, although not without pointing out his mother wouldn't be happy about it. Hadrian assured him he would say nothing and would owe him a favor in the future.
Varys thought himself a smart man. He had to admit little Prince Hadrian was an odd child. He recognized his genius very early on, when the child learned to walk and speak before any normal child should. The rate the child was learning even the most difficult subjects was astonishing.
Then there was that bird that all evidence suggests is an actual phoenix. The bird could travel in a flash of fire, lift incredibly heavy loads, and had a magic song that was more beautiful than anything he had ever heard. The Faith called him blessed by the Seven, but Varys didn't think that was the case—although the child was clearly magical, as some of his spies in the household servants have seen the boy do amazing things, such as make things float or cause water to run out of a stone.
Varys had to factor this new player into the game. And a player he turned out to be, as he stood watching the young prince as three red priestesses prostrated themselves before him and he played the part of a confident but gracious leader.
Three days after his meeting with Varys, his world changed. Varys had come through and arranged a meeting with Melisandre, who was a beautiful woman with crimson red hair and eyes, who immediately prostrated herself before him. He was amused with how over the top and dramatic she was being, but tried not to show it.
She spoke for three hours about the Lord of Light and that he was the return of the messiah, Azor Ahai. She fell to her knees once again when Fawkes flashed into the room. The phoenix was apparently a vessel for R'hllor himself. It didn't help when the phoenix sang and sent Mel to her knees again in tears at the beautiful song.
During the long explanation of Azor Ahai and several prophecies regarding him, he found himself staring at her. She was clearly a magical person—the most powerful he had come across so far—but the two others also possessed magic. Still, she was very different. She had a magic that covered her like a thin veil.
Then he noticed the necklace she wore and marveled at the huge magical power it possessed. He asked her about it, and she was shocked that he noticed it, and even more so when he described the veil covering her and that he could see magic. He could tell she was shocked and impressed by his ability. He went on to describe some of his powers that he had learned so far, making the three priestesses even more devout.
He was so busy with the priestesses, he ignored the fact that Varys was in the room for the full meeting and learned many things. So now he had multiple fanatical followers/slaves who offered themselves mind, body, and soul to him. She had six other priestesses and three priests in King's Landing completely devoted to him.
He started laying out a plan. He instructed her on a few things he wanted and gave her a bag full of gold. He needed a personal sworn swordsman—someone who was not noble and had no political ties, a large building to base his operations, such as a large manse near the harbor, a fishing vessel, a warehouse near the port, and to begin recruiting some young, poor, and homeless people.
He finally realized that Varys was still in the room, so he thanked him, saying he owed him a favor in the future for his assistance. He used Fawkes to deliver messages to Mel. He found an easy way to leave the Red Keep as he mapped the tunnels and secret passages with the help of the ghost of Maegor, and met up with his nine followers. He had them start looking for and purchasing what he needed.
He also began studying shadowbinding, pyromancy, and illusion magic with Melisandre, which was difficult, but due to his bond with Fawkes, he was able to start learning. He also studied the necklace and learned it didn't have an elemental stone in it but could be used to cast certain illusion magic—illusions so real they were actually real temporarily. It was limited, though, and he suspected it was made using an elemental stone.
A month later, after lots of searching, he found a young sellsword who was perfect. His name was Bronn, and he was hilarious. Harry got along very well with him. He also didn't treat him like a messiah or even a prince, really.
It was a tricky thing getting his father to approve of his new guard, and even more so when his mother found out about Bronn and Mel. His mother didn't really know what to think. He could see she loved him and worried about him, but she clearly didn't feel the same way about him as she did with Joffrey. She spoiled his brother, showering him with love and affection while at times ignoring Hadrian completely. She seemed to despise the times that he would excel when his brother would not—which was a lot.
He finally got his father to approve, and so he received a little more freedom to operate. He took advantage of his father's apathy about anything that wasn't drinking, whoring, hunting, or fighting. He would time his questions right, where his father would simply say "do as you will," so he could go back to his debauchery.
He started playing with other poor kids and orphans from around the city and having his people recruit the poor young people and kids off the street and house them in the manse while teaching them to read, write, fight, sail, etc. He became friends with some of them while gaining eternal devotion from the rest and spared no expense in their training.
He felt slightly guilty using brainwashing techniques and propaganda to make them even more devoted. He also started to adjust their culture to his more modern one. He introduced several new games and the concept of sports.
He was creating an organization that these kids were joining with their loyalty to his newly dubbed Avalon above all others. He was making them his first citizens. He established rules and laws that were apart from the Seven Kingdoms. The biggest difference was that all Avalon citizens would be able to read, write, and have knowledge of basic arithmetic. They would also join the defense force.
All men would learn the sword, shield, and bow, and the women would learn knife and bow. They would all be taught and be competent. They would practice one day a moon in their squad so they could stay capable and their supplies taken care of. During that day, they also ran drills, nutrition and wellness classes, and did yoga and martial arts.
He had kids from ages five to twenty and started doing a little investing in the older ones. He taught modern smithing techniques to several of those wanting to be smiths and had them become apprentices to learn more, using his clout as prince to get them apprenticeships. Some went to work on a smaller fishing ship he bought and used as practice with his wind power and enchanting, while learning to sail.
He quickly realized he would need to expand, buying all the buildings on the block, fencing the whole thing in so only Avalon citizens could enter. He also procured his own pier in front of his warehouse on the water to dock his fishing ship, with space for three others.
He used one of the buildings and created the Bard Guild. This new guild he created taught singing, dancing, acting, musical instruments, and musical theater. He planned on using this guild to make money and to spread his propaganda throughout the world. He hired seven teachers to run the school that could house twenty students at a time.
Bronn taught him the sword and fighting on a daily basis along with Barristan Selmy and his uncle Jaime. He also had lessons with the Maesters, Melisandre, and sometimes the small council, who were all surprised when he asked if he could sit in on the meetings. He was actually surprised when he was allowed. He sat there listening quietly, to everyone's surprise.
Everything was coming together fairly well. He realized he needed to get out of King's Landing and start learning about other areas and spread his influence. He really wanted to go to the God's Eye and see what the message was all about. He realized this world was very hazardous to those who were gifted with magic. Add in the prophecies about the Long Night, the dead rising, the Convergence, and the apocalypse—he needed to change the world.
He decided to start easy with family. He had been sending messages to his grandfather, Tywin Lannister, discussing various subjects and getting his opinion on many things, especially certain things that came up in the small council. He would also write his uncle Tyrion from time to time using Fawkes for both.
He would send some correspondence to the different banks like the Iron Bank in Braavos, Lys, Oldtown, and Volantis inquiring about their policies, currencies, and services. People were amazed at the firebird when they saw it, and it caused many rumors and legends about him. He was bummed that although the bird could send heavy packages across the world, it couldn't take anything alive with him, even plants. He could also only flame travel so often or with so much mass before he needed to rest.
