Lisanna's POV
I lean forward over the bathroom sink as I put lip gloss on. Yukino and Sorano gossip next to me about the latest news happening around school.
"I heard Mr. Zeref was with Principal Mavis when it happened, like they were with each other. That's why it took so long for a teacher to break up the fight." Sorano said leaning on the counter.
"What?! They're together?! That's so gross and isn't it, like, against the rules. The principal with one of her teachers, what a scandal!" Yukino replies with an excited shrill.
"I know!" Sorano divulges, "which is pretty lucky for them, since no teachers actually saw the fight and there's no proof that it happened, they might just get off scot-free."
I just roll my eyes and check my appearance in the mirror one last time before turning to the two.
"You know what I heard," Yukino leans close to us as if she was going to share secret information. Information that's probably already circling around school if Yukino's heard about it.
"Natsu fought Sting over Lisanna."
I pull back, shocked. Yukino's smile grows and she continues on excitedly, "yeah, it's all over the school. I guess the people who were there when it happened said they heard Sting talking about how he won you and started saying some crude things, like how amazing your body is and stuff. Then Natsu snapped and punched him."
My mouth hangs open slightly at the news. I look from Yukino to Sorano, who look at me waiting for my reaction. I can feel my mouth twist up into a smirk and I stand straight.
Yukino's and Sorano's smiles grow and they look at each other then back to me.
"I knew he couldn't stay away from me. We belong together and he finally fought Sting to win me back." I smirk, looking back into the mirror and fixing my hair, so it falls perfectly around my shoulders.
Yukino and Sorano nod along, smiling back gleefully.
"Well, what are we waiting for ladies, let's go get my man back," I say winking in the mirror causing the two to shriek in excitement.
Lucy's POV
The lunch room is bustling and crowded like always, but I don't mind it much now-a-days. Especially when I catch a head of pink hair sat at a table in the corner.
Smiling, I make my way over with Levy following closely behind.
"Natsu!" I call when we get close.
The man whips his head around and when he spots me, a megawatt smile stretches across his face, making me smile in return.
"Luce! Hey!" He says excitedly moving to make room for me.
Levy giggles, "What am I chop liver, it's nice seeing you Natsu."
Natsu just laughs, "Heh, you too!" But his eyes haven't left me and the attention makes my cheek warm. "You're wearing my scarf."
The words make me hunch into myself, a bit self-conscious. When I got up that morning I contemplated whether I should wear it or not, but… it smells like Katsu and it's warm and comforting and I feel so much love when it's wrapped around my shoulders, so in the end it was an easy decision.
"Y-yeah," I say, not meeting his eyes. "I hope that's ok? I know yesterday you were pretty out of it after the fight and pain meds, so I figured I'd bring it with me today since I'm only borrowing it."
Katsu hums, sharp eyes trailing over me. "Nah, it looks better on you. Besides you have to waer it so people know you're mine and they can't touch you without dealing with me first."
The words make my jaw drop and heat return to my cheeks tenfold. "Natsu, you– are you saying you wan–."
But I don't get a chance to finish my sentence before a loud hiss cuts me off.
"The fuck are you doing here?" Lisanna snaps, eyeing me like I'm a stink bug she just stepped on and now the whole place reeks. "Still hanging all over any guy that'll give you attention?"
"Lisanna," Katsu starts, warning in his voice.
"Tch, whatever," She flicks her hair behind her shoulder before plastering on a huge smile and turning her gaze toward Katsu, eyelashes fluttering softly. "Katsu, babe."
She elbow me out of the way and plops down at the table, sitting right next to the pink haired boy.
Katsu glares at her action, frowning as he sees me roll my eyes at the girl's antics.
"Baby," Lisanna says again, grasping his cheeks with both her hands and turning his attention to her. She pouting at him, lips pushed out in a fake frown as she goes on, "I heard about your fight with Sting. Ah man, look at your face. It's all bruise up and swollen." She sighs before removing her hands and clapping them together. "We'll just have to wait to make it official when your looks are back to normal so we can post it on our stories."
I freeze at her words, my eyes growing wide. What is she talking about? I look at Levy, raising my eyebrows, but she looks just as shocked as me. And when I turn my gaze to Katsu, he just looks confused and a bit disgusted.
"What are you talking about?" He says.
Lisanna just rolls her eyes and pats his head condescending, "Babe, you don't have to play dumb, I heard about the fight and that you were doing it to win me back. Don't worry, I forgive you for everything."
My mouth hangs open at her words, shock freezing me in place. Is she serious?
"Woah, woah woah!" Katsu says, standing. "Let me get one thing straight, Lisanna. I'm done with you. I have been done with you since I found you screwing my supposed 'friend'."
"Katsu, hon, that was in the past," Lisanna says, eyes wandering toward the other people in the cafeteria as their conversations stop, watching the action unfold. "I thought we got past that," she forces a laugh, trying to sound relaxed, but it comes out awkward. "You found Sting for me–."
"No, I fought Sting for Lucy!" He yells and my attention snaps to him.
What did he say? He fought… for me?
But Katsu isn't looking at me, his sole attention is on Lisanna, seething as he continues, "If you haven't realized it yet, I fancy Lucy. She's the best thing that's come into my life, she taught me so much about myself and how to be better. I want to be better for her." He points at her with a scoff, "You always made me feel like crap, like I wasn't good enough unless I fit into your mold. I'm done with that."
"You fancy me?"
"You fancy her?"
Me and Lisanna say at the same time, her voice coming out shrill while mine is a disbelieving whisper.
As the words sink in, I feel fuzzy on the inside and can't contain a giddy smile gracing my face.
I stand and step closer to Katsu. I bite my lip before grabbing his shirt in my hands to pull him in.
But before I can connect out lips, Lisanna is shrieking, "You can't be serious! You're choosing her, over me?!"
"It's an easy choice," Katsu whispers, eyes glued to me. His attention hasn't left me since I stood, and I stare back into his wide obsidian eyes feeling like the whole room is pushed into the background.
"You know Lisanna," I call behind me, not breaking eye contact with Katsu. "Maybe if you found happiness within yourself, you wouldn't have to rely on tearing people down just to make your self worth higher. You wouldn't need to find someone who makes you appear 'perfect'."
I smooth my hands over Katsu's shirt and over his shoulders, my eyes twinkle up at him smiling. I want to kiss him so badly, but now isn't the moment.
So with a sigh, I turn and face Lisanna.
She's steaming as she glares at as, but I smile at her. Gesturing to the people around us, I say, "Lisanna, look around. Who are you doing this for? What is the point, in a few month we're going to be out of here and then what? Are you going to be like this forever?"
"I don't need to take advice from a loser like you!" She spits venomously.
I shrug, "I suppose you don't. But I'm done listening to you. I'm over your shallow words and misguided way of bringing others down to raise yourself up. In fa few months I'm probably never going to see you again and you'll be a distant memory to everyone here."
A few students let out a couple of 'oohs' at that and Lisanna snaps her head to the crowd, cheeks pinkening.
But I just stare at her, unbothered. I'm done taking her shit; she doesn't have anything useful to say anyway.
"Well," Lisanna says, whipping her head back to me.
Behind me I feel Katsu step closer and wrap an arm around my waist, giving it a gentle squeeze. And a smile takes over my expression, even though I try to push it away as I face Lisanna.
"Well!" She says again, eyes bulging as her eyes jump from Katsu to the hand at my waist, to me and then to the crowd of people who stare back at her sympathetically. "Urggh you lot are nothing anyways! And Katsu, you're making the biggest mistake of your life by not picking me!" Lisanna shrieks.
"I think I'll be ok," he says, shrugging before placing a soft kiss to my head and making me gasp and whip my head to look up at him. He has that goof grin on and he stares back at me, dark eyes roving over my face and making my knees weak.
Lisanna just lets out a scream and storms off. Sorano and Yukino race after her.
But I hardly notice, too focused on Katsu.
I wet my lips and watch as his eyes fall to follow the motion.
"Katsu, I," I whisper.
"Yeah, Luce?" He says in the same volume.
I open my mouth, but then the bell rings and Levy is calling for us to get our heads back down to earth and get our stuff before the next period starts.
Clearing my throat, I step back hiding my cheeks in Katsu' scarf.
But as the pink haired man groans, I can't help but laugh at him.
"Come on big guy, we have English."
Katsu pouts as he grabs his bag and lunch tray to deposit it before we head to class. But before he can grumble and complain too much, I lean over and give his cheek a quick peck.
Katsu snaps his head to me, eyes wide and astounded. My smile grows at the look.
Katsu's POV
Lucy kissed me.
Luce kissed me.
Luce kissed me.
Luce kissed me.
Lucy kissed me!
The thought has been repeating over and over and over. All day. And still it never gets old in my head.
Her lips grazed my cheek, they were so soft and sweet and god I wish I could have captured them with my own.
And damn, she was so beautiful and powerful standing up to Lisanna. The way she stood her ground, the way she looked at me, the way she pulled me in and almost connected our lips… The moment replies in his mind again and again and again.
And by the time the final bell rings, I'm up and out of the door before anyone even has their things in their bags.
I want to see her. But I have one stop before I can do that.
I rush around other students eager to get home as I make my way to English class. Mr. Dreyar had told the class their final grades for their papers would be completed by the end of today, and if they wanted to pick them up before leaving they're more than welcome to.
Of course, I can't wait until he hands them out next week, I have to know now.
So I sprint down the hall, hoping to catch Mr. Dreyar before he leaves for the weekend as well.
Luckily, I catch him before he's gone, packing his paperwork.
I'm bursting at the seams, floating on cloud nine and ecstatic with pride.
An A. We got an A! Me and Lucy got an A on our project, a project I helped make and complete!
I'm so excited I can barely contain myself; I race down the corridors, too pumped to slow down as I race to see Lucy to deliver the good news.
And there she is, waiting at our spot.
And, I don't know, something just comes over me when I see her standing there with my scarf waiting with a smile for me. And before I know it, I'm sprinting the last couple of feet and I pick her up, spinning around and around with her in my arms.
She squeaks and flings her arms around my shoulders to keep herself from falling, but she's laughing a moment later, head flung back and beautiful smile gracing her features.
And I can't stop myself. Not when she looks and sounds like that, so happy.
When I stop spinning the two of us, I set her down and kiss Lucy.
My hand comes up to cup the back of her neck as I kiss her deeply.
Lucy's surprised, but a moment later she's kissing me back just as desperately, hands coming up to hold at my shirt.
We kiss for what feels like forever and yet it's still not long enough. She smells so nice and her lips move so perfectly against mine, she's so soft and I could die here in her arms and I'd be happy.
But after who knows how long, Lucy pulls away just barely to catch her breath. I don't let her go far as I rest my forehead against hers, catching my own breath as we stand together just breathing each other in and feeling our hearts beat rapidly.
Lucy's the first to break their silence, eyes fluttering open to look at me, "W-what was that for?"
Her voice comes out a bit horse, and the sound makes something flip in my gut and I have to swallow before answering. "We got an A on our project."
Lucy laughs at his response, "If this is what happens when you get an A, I should tutor you more often."
Laughing too, I add a bit breathless, "I also wanted to ask you something."
Lucy hums, eyes falling back to my lips and I smile.
"Will you go out with me? Will you be my girl?"
Lucy's eyes snap up to meet mine. And I stare back; looking at her, only her.
We stay like that for a couple heart beats, lost in eachother, as if we're the only ones in the world right now.
Lucy eventually opens her mouth, but nothing comes out.
I can hardly take it, and I close my eyes as I whisper, "What do you say Luce, will you run away with me?"
And Lucy just smiles. Kissing him again.
I kiss back and when she pulls apart, she says, "You finally asked; what took you so long."
I don't reply, I'm grinning too hard and so is she.
