After watching the first ep of Chao Tales on thecSonic YouTube, and seeing the Chao Shadow who's adorable, I had to write something. In this story, Shadow gets an egg from the chao garden and itvhatches into a chao that looks like him. Named Shads, he becomes Shadow's emotional support which Stone gets.
It was late night in his and Stone's house and he'd flown back from his chao garden but Shadow was tired but Stone noticed the black-brown and red quilled head make had something nestled in his arms an egg. "Stone, this egg is from the chao garden and when it hatches, a chao will come out but the garden gave it to me." Shadow told himyawning making himself a mug of coffee as being up late including flying wiped him out of energy which Stone got seeing Shadow look at the shrine Stone had heloed him make for Maria after learning aboht the Mexican holiday of Day of the Dead making him smile a lil.
"Look Maria, the chao garden gave me an egg. I'll take good care of it." he told it like he was talking to Maria which Stone found cufe knowing Sonic might find it strange yet he understood as he'd shared how to deal with loss but looking at the egg stunned hearing cracking noises thinking he was really tired until he heard chao squeaks making Shadow's eyes widen in awe seeing a black chao that looked… like him which was kinda cute. "Hi there Chao Shads and I'll take good care of you-" Shadow told him seeing him eating a coffee bean loving it eating more making Stone chuckle.
"Oh yeah, he's like you. Including the coffee." Stone told him seeing it imprinting with Shadow making him smirk but was making Shadow Chao a bes he could sleep in kissing his head which Stone found cufe seeing the sunrise as Shadow was going upstairs to bed to rest only Stone heard Chao Shadow snore making him chuckle going upstairs hearing snoring from Shadow's room before going t9 his room but had carried Chao Shocket's bed upstairs so he wouldn't be alone, knowing Shadow would get it. That later day, Shadow chuckled waking up seeing the chao him sleeping beside him guessing he didn't like sleeping alone.
"I get that Shads and that should be your name. So nobody gets confused." he said softly to him. He yawned as he was still exhausted deciding to just sleep more as Stone told him he needed more sleep but later they were having breakfast with both Shadow and Chao Shads eating coffee beans asking if feeding Chao Shads coffee beans was a good idea making Shadow shrugvseeing Sonic and Shadow's younger daughter, Shadette or nicknamed Shade come diwnstairs making Chao Shadow hide making Stone chuckle. "It's okay lil Bean. It's Shade your big sis." he whispered making Shadow smile at this surprising Stone seeing Shads come out of hiding making making Shade in awe.
"This is Shads, my chao. Late last night, the chao garden gave me an egg." Shadiw said to her. He then poured coffee into a teeny tiny mug seeing Chao him drinking licking his lips making him smile noticing a look on Stone's face. "You sure it's a good idea for him to drink coffee. What if it makes him sick." he asked Shadow.
"He can handle it. He's like me and won't let anything happen to him." Shadow told him.
Chao Shadow hiccuped like he was drunk. "More." he said making Shadow stunned. "Everything okay. Your chao's cute and looks like you. He even drinks coffee like you." Shade said as Shadow guessed she had a point smirking. "Okay but be careful okay." he told him.
"We should get going. You wanna take him with us." Stone told him.
"Come on Shads we gotta get your sister to school." Shadow told him asthey left as Chao Shadow was in awe as they flew over Green Hills their adopted home as before Sonic had helped him learn to trust others, he didn't have a home but now, he did with Stone and then Shadette had joined them becoming a family so Chao Shads was part of it making Shadow chuckle as he and Shade landed at Green Hills Elementary seeing Shade hug him before leaving making Chao Shadow curious asking where Shade was going.
"It's school. Young life-forms go to learn and socialise. Sonic told me that." Shadow told him as they left the school.
Later after meeting Sonic and his friends and having lunch, Shadow noticed Chao him was tired guessing he needed an nap getting the bed he'd made for Chao Shadow scooping him up gently and lovingly tucked him in telling him a story seeing him out like a light making him smile letting him be sitting on the couch reading a book to himself as Stone was busy doing something but had been talking to the Maria shr8ne because it was like he was talking to her even though she was gone but sleepy falling asleep lying down zoning out making Stone smile seeing him asleep along with Chao him letting him be.
