"Jarvis, call her." Tony prayed she was somewhere her phone had service, he needed to hear her voice if he was about to die.
"Hey luv, what's going on?"
Tony sighed in relief, "Have you seen what's happening in New York?"
"No, I've been in the archives all day. Tony, what's going on?"
"Loki unleashed aliens and I'm currently carrying a nuke through a wormhole he opened, into space." Silence was the reply. "I wanted to make sure you know I love you and I'm so sorry."
"Tony," she paused, he could hear the tears in her voice, "I love you too but you're going to be fine. You have to be."
"I'm so sorry Avery," he choked up, "If I had another way."
"I know," she quietly replied, "But you're going to be alright, and I'll meet you at the tower to prove it!"
"Avery, no! Loki's," Tony tried but lost the connection. With a new determination, he sent everything to the thrusters and aimed the nuke right for the wormhole.

Avery Potter Black had been in a slump since the war had ended. All of her friends were moving on with their lives but she couldn't, she felt like there was something missing. Needing to have a bit of fun and avoid the wizarding population, Avery set out for muggle London and their nightlife.
She had been enjoying her drink and moving with the music when a man bumped into her. "I'm sorry," she had been in her own world and hadn't noticed him.
"My fault entirely," he smiled, holding out his hand, "I'm Tony, what's your name?"
Surprised by his accent, Avery shook his hand and smiled. "Avery. You're a bit far from home, aren't you?"
Tony nodded, "I had some business over here," he couldn't help but stare at her eyes, "Your eyes are pretty."
She chuckled, "Thank you."
"So," Tony looked around, "Are you here alone?" When her eyes narrowed, he continued, "I just realized how creepy that came off."
"I am, and yes, very creepy," they both laughed, "I needed to get away and be free for a bit."
Nodding, he said, "I can actually understand that."
The two spoke and danced for the rest of the night. When it came time to head home, Avery surprised herself when she asked Tony if she wanted to join her.
He seemed to surprise himself by agreeing.

It took six months for Tony to invite Avery to visit. They had kept in touch, talking almost every night, and Tony would always stop in to see her when he was in the country on business.
When she had agreed to visit, they planned for Tony to show her his favorite things. Avery had never been to America, so she had been excited. She had been wondering if she should tell him her secret, she hated to keep it from him, especially since he'd been so open with her.
Tony had a reputation of being a playboy, but he knew it was overexaggeration by the press, he just prayed Avery would understand. The paparazzi were ruthless and he didn't want her to be dragged into the tabloids. He had been surprised that she hadn't known who he was when they met, it was part of the reason he liked her. He also thought her very beautiful, and she seemed genuine, so he wanted to get to know her more.
Avery had been enjoying her time in California with Tony. When he told her about the paparazzi and the stories they published, she knew exactly how he felt. That made her want to tell him about her being a witch so much more, she knew that it was a risk but was going to anyway.
"Tony, I need to talk to you about something."
For some reason, her words made him worry she was calling off whatever they had going on. Sitting beside her on the couch, he braced himself and asked, "What's going on Avery?"
Bracing herself for a freakout, she said, "I've been keeping a secret, not because I didn't trust you, but because I'm technically not supposed to tell anyone." When he nodded for her to continue, she looked him in the eyes and said, "I'm a witch."
Tony wasn't sure how to respond, for some reason though, he didn't think she was lying. "A witch?"
"Yes. I went to school for people like me and I won a war against a madman who had been hellbent on taking over the world and killing me." Avery worried when he stayed quiet, "I can show you something if you don't believe me."
Tony looked back into her eyes, "For some reason, as crazy as it seems, I do believe you." He noticed her shoulders relax, "Can you still show me something?"
Nodding, Avery pulled her wand and pointed it at the coffee table, turning it into a dog.
"Holy shit!" Tony gasped. When she returned it to normal, he looked at her with wide eyes, "What else can you do?"
Smiling in relief, she began to show him different spells. "I can also change our appearances, no paparazzi will know it's us."
Tony had thought Avery was amazing before, but now he had a whole new view on her. Later that night while lying in bed, he asked, "You said you won a war?"
Turning in his arms, Avery looked into his eyes, "I did. It's a long story but you have a right to know what you're getting into." As she told Tony of her history, he listened intently. They spent the night going over everything.

Tony held Avery to his chest, they were both trying to catch their breath after 'activities'. Running a hand through her dark hair, he blurted, "We should get married."
Avery turned so she could see Tony's face, "What was that?"
Smirking, he rolled them so he was hovering over her naked body, "I said we should get married."
"See, that's what I thought you said," she smirked up at him, "If that's your proposal, you should probably work on it a bit more."
Leaning down, Tony kissed her deeply, "How about this," grabbing a box from his nightstand, he placed it on her chest, "Avery, since the day you came into my life, I've felt complete. You are vibrant and caring and brave but you're also sweet, compassionate and love me as much as I love you. I don't want to go through this life without you."
She felt a tear escape, "I love you, Tony. You've brought so much joy and love into my life at a time I hadn't thought it would happen, so yes, I will marry you!"
Tony leaned in to kiss her, sliding the ring on her finger as he did. "I love you."
Avery flipped them, leaning down she brushed her lips over his, "I love you, Tony."

2006
The two had been married for almost five months now and were still in the newlywed stage. Tony had met the Weasleys early on and loved the family. He had also met Remus Lupin early on, the man was kind of intimidating, but he could tell Remus loved Avery. There were a few others he met as well. Avery had met Rhodey, Pepper and Happy, they had all been shocked to find out she was with Tony but were happy for the couple.
With how crazy both of their lives were, they had made sure to keep their relationship private. Both knew how the press would react and didn't want the hassle or drama they would bring. Those that were in the know had agreed and promised to keep quiet as well.
They spent their time between California and London, the floo came in handy often. Avery had been working in the DOM instead of the DMLE like everyone had expected of her. She had worked on a few projects before starting on the one she had taken the job for. Tony believed that she could do anything she set her mind to but always made sure he was there on the day's things didn't go well.
With Tony running Stark Industries, he traveled often but was happy Avery could be with him. The couple had taken to having fun with the paparazzi that never seemed to leave him be, and then they would laugh until they cried when the new articles came out. Since they had been married by magic, there was no muggle public records, so they continued to play on the 'Playboy' angle. Every time Tony had to attend a public event, Avery would go but never as herself, she made sure she always slightly changed her appearance. When the press began to hound Tony about his 'new friend', he would come up with the most ridiculous stories and it was always printed.
In all their years together, they only seemed to have one rough patch and it was over Obidiah. Avery had only met the man once and he gave her magic a bad feeling. Not wanting to hurt her husband, she kept it to herself afterwards. She decided she would keep an eye on the man, she knew to trust her gut.

Avery finally had a breakthrough with her project. She had worked countless hours on it and was finally seeing progress. Tony was excited for her, he had heard so many stories that he hoped she succeeded. He needed to know if the legend compared.
The couple were staying in London that week so she would be closer to her work. Tony had promised to sort dinner for them so she could relax when she got home. He could see how tired, both physically and emotionally, she had been and worried about her. Hearing the floo activate, he headed out to greet his wife.
Avery came out of the floo in a rush, she needed to tell Tony about her day. Seeing her husband enter the room, she rushed over and jumped into his arms, kissing him breathless.
Tony pulled back slightly, "I'm going to guess today was good?"
"So good!" She smiled brightly. When he sat her feet on the ground, she began to bounce in her excitement. "I did it!"
His jaw dropped in surprise, "You did it?" When she nodded, he twirled her around, "I knew you could! Is he?"
"The healers have to run scans and check everything, so we have to wait until morning."
Tony smiled down at her. "I knew you could do it." He kissed her again, "Let's eat and then we can celebrate!"
Avery nodded, "Full on celebrate!" She laughed when he rushed them to the dining room.
~~~
Tony wouldn't admit it out loud, but as they walked through the lower level of the Ministry, he was nervous. He had been here a few times with Avery, but this meeting was on a completely different level. If the man they were meeting didn't like him, or think him good enough, what would Avery do? Tony knew his wife loved him, very much, but he was still worried.
Gripping her husband's hand, Avery spoke quietly, "Calm down. Everything will be just fine, I promise."
Somehow, she could always tell when he was on edge. When they stopped, he leaned in and kissed her.
Avery smiled at Tony before taking his hand and opening the door. Entering, she found two men sitting next to each other in a hospital bed.
"Fawn," came a voice she hadn't heard since she was fifteen.
Avery ran over and threw herself on her godfather like a child, "Siri!" She sobbed.
Remus stood from the bed and moved to stand next to Tony, "Best to give them a minute."
Tony nodded, watching his strong and independent wife cry into her godfather's shirt. He had heard so many stories from Avery and Remus of Sirius Black, but it seemed surreal now. He was excited his wife had him back but also a little worried the man may not be happy she went and got married.
Avery finally calmed herself enough to introduce Sirius to her husband, "Siri, I want you to meet someone. Now, he's very important to me and I love him very much." Motioning Tony forward, "Sirius Black, meet Tony Stark, my husband."
Sirius looked to Remus who nodded with a smile before holding his hand out to Tony. "It's nice to meet you, Tony. I hope you know how lucky you are to have fawn."
Tony shook the man's hand and smiled, "Trust me, I know."
